녹용대보탕(鹿茸大補湯)의 노화 억제 효과에 대한 실험적 연구 (The Anti-agning Effect of Oral Administration of NokYongDaebotang (NYD) in Rats)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of oral administration of NokYongDaebotang (NYD) on aging in rats. To observe the anti-aging effect of NYD, we performed blood chemistry analysis, histological analysis, and evaluated the levels of SOD, catalase, glutathione, NO and MDA in liver and other organ. The results were as follows : 1. The levels of serum Albumin and GOT was reduced significantly in the NYD group as compared with the nornal group. 2. Serum Total bilirubin level was increased in the NYD group as compared with the nornal group. 3. Serum LDL-cholesterol level was reduced significantly in the NYD group as compared with the nornal group. 4. The level of GSH and SOD activityin liver were significantly higher in 52 w-NYD group than that of 52 w-normal group. 5. The levels of NO were reduced significantly in 52 w-NYD group as compared with 52 w-normal group. In conclusion, NYD decoction is considered to have an anti-aging effect in rats.

  • In the last decades patient's suffering with Parkinson's disease is increasing at a rapid rate and as per prediction it will grow more rapidly as old age population is increasing at a rapid rate through out the world. As the performance of wearable sensor based approach reached to a new height as well as powerful machine learning technique provides more accurate result these combination has been widely used for assessment of various neurological diseases. ON state is the state where the effect of medicine is present and OFF state the effect of medicine is reduced or not present at all. Classification of ON/OFF state for the Parkinson's disease is important because the patients could injure them self due to freezing of gait and gait related problems in the OFF state. in this paper wearable sensor based approach has been used to collect the data in ON and OFF state and machine learning techniques are used to automate the classification based on the gait pattern. Supervised machine learning techniques able to provide 97.6% accuracy while classifying the ON/OFF state.

Korean Red Ginseng saponin fraction exerts anti-inflammatory effects by targeting the NF-κB and AP-1 pathways

  • Background: Although ginsenosides and saponins in Korea red ginseng (KRG) shows various pharmacological roles, their roles in the inflammatory response are little known. This study investigated the anti-inflammatory role of ginsenosides identified from KRG saponin fraction (RGSF) and the potential mechanism in macrophages. Methods: The ginsenoside composition of RGSF was identified by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) analysis. An anti-inflammatory effect of RGSF and its mechanisms were studied using nitric oxide (NO) and prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) production assays, mRNA expression analyses of inflammatory genes and cytokines, luciferase reporter gene assays of transcription factors, and Western blot analyses of inflammatory signaling pathways using the lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-treated RAW264.7 cells. Results: HPLC analysis identified the types and amounts of various panaxadiol ginsenosides in RGSF. RGSF reduced the generation of inflammatory molecules and mRNA levels of inflammatory enzymes and cytokines in LPS-treated RAW264.7 cells. Additionally, RGSF inhibited the signaling pathways of NF-κB and AP-1 by suppressing both transcriptional factors and signaling molecules in LPS-treated RAW264.7 cells. Conclusion: RGSF contains ginsenosides that have anti-inflammatory action via restraining the NF-κB and AP-1 signaling pathways in macrophages during inflammatory responses.

Anti-obesity Effects of Safflower Seeds (SS) on the Differentiation of 3T 3-L1 Pre-adipocytes and Obese Mice Fed a High-fat Diet

  • Safflower seeds, classified as a member of the Asteraceae family, a dicotyledonous plant, contain linoleic acid as a major component, known for its pharmacological effect of strengthening bones. Additionally, safflower seeds have been reported to have pharmacological effects on vascular diseases such as atherosclerosis. In this study, we investigated the anti-obesity effect of safflower seed extract by examining its impact on adipocyte differentiation using Oil Red O staining, triglyceride quantification, and GPDH activity measurement. The results showed that safflower seed extract significantly inhibited adipocyte differentiation. Furthermore, we confirmed that safflower seed extract improved body weight, liver weight, adipose tissue size, glucose, and triglyceride levels in a high-fat diet-induced mouse model. These findings suggest that safflower seed extract exhibits potent anti-obesity activity both in vitro and in vivo and has the potential to be developed as a material for future anti-obesity therapies.

폴리아닐린을 이용한 강 구조물용 방청도료의 제조 및 특성 (Preparation and Characteristics of Anti-Corrosive Coatings for Steel Structures using Polyaniline)

  • Anti-corrosive coatings for steel structures with an alternative anti-corrosive pigment, polyaniline was prepared and anti-corrosive characteristics of the prepared coatings were investigated. The structure of the polyaniline was identified by using FT-IR, UV/Vis. and TGA analysis, and the anti-corrosive properties were analyzed from the results of the salt spray experiment. We found that the anti-corrosion properties of the prepared coatings varied in accordance with the types of primer coating resins as well as with the existence and nonexistence of the top coating. In this condition, the properties of adhesion, chemical resistance, and water resistance were found to be very satisfactory when using the single-packaged urethane resin as the primer coating resin and the urethane resin as the top coating resin.

Anti-Oxidant Activities of Paeoniflorin Derivatives

  • We previously showed that the root extract of Paeonia lactiflora Red Charm might have anti-oxidant activities, however it was not clear which components might be involved in this activity. Our boinformatics analysis indicated the root extracts of Paeonia lactiflora Red Charm has a couple of potential anti-oxidant materials. One of them is paeoniflorin. We hypothesized that one of components present in Paeonia lactiflora Red Charm, paeoniflorin and its derivatives might be related to anti-oxidant activity. In this study, we compared paeoniflorin and its derivatives with the root extract of Paeonia lactiflora Red Charm using DPPH assays to measure its antioxidant activities. Paeoniflorin showed the highest radical scavenging activity(%) in $1000{\mu}g/m{\ell}$. its derivative showed the high levels radical scavenging activity(%) in $600{\mu}g/m{\ell}$, $800{\mu}g/m{\ell}$, $1000{\mu}g/m{\ell}$ similar to ascorbic acid. Taken together, these results suggest that Paeoniflorin and its derivatives may play a role in anti-oxidant acitivity in the root extracts of Paeonia lactiflora. Much of future studies may be needed to develop a potential new anti-oxidant candidates with anti-aging and anti-cancer effects.

Dynamic analysis for anti-symmetric cross-ply and angle-ply laminates for simply supported thick hybrid rectangular plates

  • In this paper, static and vibration analysis for anti-symmetric cross-ply and angle- ply carbon/glass hybrid laminates rectangular composite plate are presented. In this analysis, the equations of motion for simply supported thick laminated hybrid rectangular plates are derived and obtained through the use of Hamilton's principle. The closed-form solutions of anti-symmetric cross-ply and angle- ply laminates are obtained using Navier solution. The effects of side-to-thickness ratio, aspect ratio, and lamination schemes on the fundamental frequencies loads are investigated. The study concludes that shear deformation laminate theories accurately predict the behavior of composite laminates, whereas the classical laminate theory over predicts natural frequencies. The excellent accuracy of the present analytical solution is confirmed by making some comparisons of the present results with those available in the literature. It can be concluded that the proposed theory is accurate and simple in solving the free vibration behaviors of anti-symmetric cross-ply and angle- ply hybrid laminated composite plates.

Anti-Jamming and Time Delay Performance Analysis of Future SATURN Upgraded Military Aerial Communication Tactical Systems

  • For over half a century, the United States (US) and its coalition military aircrafts have been using Ultra High Frequency (UHF) band analog modulation (AM) radios in ground-to-air communication and short-range air-to-air communications. Evolving from this, since 2007, the US military and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) adopted HAVE QUICK to be used by almost all aircrafts, because it had been revealed that intercepting and jamming of former aircraft communication signals was possible, which placed a serious threat to defense systems. The second-generation Anti-jam Tactical UHF Radio for NATO (SATURN) was developed to replace HAVE QUICK systems by 2023. The NATO Standardization Agreement (STANAG) 4372 is a classified document that defines the SATURN technical and operational specifications. In preparation of this future upgrade to SATURN systems, in this paper, the SATURN technical and operational specifications are reviewed, and the network synchronization, frequency hopping, and communication setup parameters that are controlled by the Network (NET) Time, Time Of Day (TOD), Word Of Day (WOD), and Multiple Word of Day (MWOD) are described in addition to SATURN Edition 3 (ED3) and future Edition 4 (ED4) basic features. In addition, an anti-jamming performance analysis (in reference to partial band jamming and pulse jamming) and the time delay queueing model analysis are conducted based on a SATURN transmitter and receiver assumed model.

청해부대 대해적작전의 네트워크작전(NCO) 효과 사례연구 (A Chunghae Unit Study on the NCO Effectiveness of Anti-piracy Operation)

  • In this paper, I have measured NCO(Network Centric Operation) Effectiveness of Anti-piracy Operation at the Chunghae Unit. For quantitative analysis, Network Centric Operations Conceptual Framework(U.S Office of Force Transformation) is applied. In accordance with the framework, the Chunghae unit anti-piracy operation scenario is analysed. The scenario is devided with two case(only voice communication and networking). The element of analysis be composed of the organic information, networking, share-ability, and individual information. As a result of analysis, the individual information of first case(only voice) gets 0.59 points. The other side, second case (networking) gets 1 points. This means that NCO has effect on the Chunghae Unit's mission. In addition, I stated the tactics advantage of NCO related a fighting power.

  • Numerical analysis of three dimensional incompressible turbulent flows in LNG marine high pressure drop control valves was carried out by using the CFD-ACE from ESI-Group. In this study, flow characteristics of control valves with complex flow fields including cavitation effect were investigated. Simulation was performed on five models of control valve that had different orifice diameters of anti-trim and the size of valve. Comparing newly designed control valves for controling the occurrence of cavitation with the conventional valve, new valves showed a improved flow pattern with almost no cavitation.
