  • A study on the improvement of anti-abrasion nature of curved ducts for high-velocity gas-solid flow which are typically equipped in a coal-burned steam power plant has been investigated numerically and experimentally. To reduced the abrasion of pipe by particle, we have tried to form the vortex flow field in the region where flow changes its direction , modelled with two different shapes. 22.5$^{\circ}$and 90$^{\circ}$ elbows. the governing equations for three -dimensional , turbulent flow fields are discretized by FVM and solved bySIMPLE algorithm . From the numerical analysis, the new designed elbows for reducing abrasion have been developed. Numerical results are compared with the experimental abrasion data which are obtained from one of the operating coal burned steam power plants in Korea. Comparison of these results show that the developed elbows have much more durability than the original one.

  • The objective of this treatise is to study the effect which rock'n'roll had on fashion through the fashion of rock'n'roll stars and contemporary youngsters. The United states of America in the 1950's when rock'n'roll came into existence was an opulent and luxurious period. People's spare time increased and teenagers who grew up in oppulence after World War II emlerged. It was rock'n'roll that comprised the background of their culture. Rock'n'roll music, which was in the mixed form of Negro's rhythm and blues, and country -and-western of Southern hillbilly Rock'n'roll was expressed as a 'culture', characterized by both the luxurious and oppulent culture and the'anti-establishment' defying it. This cultural characteristic emerged as at once the conservative fashion following the contemporary fashion and the anti-establishment fashion in the rock'n'roll fashion. Therefore, the rock'n'roll fashion influenced by popular music became one momentum of including popular music among factors affecting the twentieth-century modern fashion.

  • A protein-polysaccharide fraction of a Korean wild mushroom Psathyrella velutina, PVP, was prepared and its antitumor immunomodulatory activity was investigated. When PVP was administered once daily for seven days from day 1 to day 7 into male ICR mice implanted with 1 $\times$ 10$^{5}$ cells of sarcom 180 tumor cells into the peritoneum on day 4, it inhibited the growth of sarcoma 180 cells by 92.8%. In XTT assay, PVP also exhorted in vitro anti-proliferation activity on U-937, a human monoblastoid cell line, as well as sarcoma 180 cells. PVP showed marked stimulatory activity on the immune system in that it induced the accumulation of PEC (the stimulation index, Sl=4.90 at 100 mg/kg), stimulated the BALB/c mouse splenic lymphocytes to form lymphoblasts (Sl=5.75 at 100$\mu\textrm{g}$/ml), and upergulated the expression of CD25 molecules. All these results strongly support that PVP exhorts its antitumor activity through stimulation of the immune system as well as anti-proliferative activity on the tumor cells.

  • We have performed long time REMD simulation on 15-19 residues of human calcitonin hormone (DFNKF) which is known to form highly ordered amyloid fibril. The simulation started from randomly oriented multiple DFNKF strand. Using all-atom level simulations with the generalized Born solvation (GB) model (param99MOD3), we observed spontaneous formation of ${\beta}$-sheet for tetramer. Interestingly, the current simulation gives anti-parallel sheet as a major conformation, consistent with experiments. The major interaction stabilizing the anti-parallel sheet seems to be the inter-strand hydrogen bond.

  • Image of Modern Art & Fashion are created on the whole in daily life. Image itself is not simple. There is no more distinction between content & form through mutual crossing for intellectual thinking. Specially, image of reproduction circumstance too many mixtual and compromise (collage) are continued to occur. They could pursuit to change their image through the more increase of impulse, exception and popular experience. In this thesis, I studied about image of Modern fashion & Art. In the modern art, visual image showed as anti-beauty and combination of cultural system. It has shown in the theory of Fred Davis and through fashion brand advertising image as follows; Youth vs maturity (ageless image), male s female and androgynous vs unisexuality (genderless image), colligation vs monopoly (street mode image). As a results, the modern trend image are showing the value of the ambivalence. It can be said that he anti-beauty which are occasionally showed in ambivalence has shown a tendency toward another tradition (feminity) through giving an impulse and paradox.

  • The Diamond-Like-Carbon (DLC) coating is a new carbon-based amorphous material. Carbon ions in the plasma are electrically accelerated and collide with the substrate to form a thin film. This film has similar properties to diamonds such as high surface hardness, low coefficient of friction, corrosion resistance and durability that do not react with acids and bases. Also, since there is no thermal deformation, it can be printed at room temperature. and coated on almost all materials such as paper, polymer, ceramics and various metals even aspheric lens it is possible to mirror surface coating with excellent surface roughness. In this paper, we have analyzed the DLC film formed by Filtered Arc Ion Plating (Filtered AIP) process.

  • Wm was isolated from Cynanchum wilfordii (Asclepiadaceae) as a mixture form of polypregnane glycosides that included wilfoside K1N and wilfoside C1N. In the present study, we investigated the anti-angiogenic effect of wilfoside glycosides using in vivo and in vitro assay systems. We first demonstrated that concentrated conditioned media obtained from Wm-treated HepG2 human hepatoblastoma cells blocked the angiogenic activation of Wm-untreated concentrated conditioned media, suggesting that Wm may have an inhibitory effect on tumor-induced angiogenesis. • Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a very common form of cancer worldwide and is often fatal. Although the histopathology of HCC is characterized by metabolic pathophysiology, fibrosis, and cirrhosis, the focus of treatment has been on eliminating HCC. Recently, three-dimensional (3D) multicellular hepatic spheroid (MCHS) models have provided a) new therapeutic strategies for progressive fibrotic liver diseases, such as antifibrotic and anti-inflammatory drugs, b) molecular targets, and c) treatments for metabolic dysregulation. MCHS models provide a potent anti-cancer tool because they can mimic a) tumor complexity and heterogeneity, b) the 3D context of tumor cells, and c) the gradients of physiological parameters that are characteristic of tumors in vivo. However, the information provided by an multicelluar tumor spheroid (MCTS) model must always be considered in the context of tumors in vivo. This mini-review summarizes what is known about tumor HCC heterogeneity and complexity and the advances provided by MCHS models for innovations in drug development to combat liver diseases.

  • In United States black mothers have consistently been treated as national outsiders, as women whose children, although ostensibly entitled to full citizenship, are in practice rarely provided with equal protection within the nation′s borders or under its laws. From the time he began writing in the aftermath of the failures of national Reconstruction, the African American public intellectual and political activist W. E. B. Du Bois realized that a truly effective anti-racist politics would also have to contend with the particular ways in which U.S. racism targeted black mothers. In short, he understood that an effective anti-racism would necessarily have to be a form of anti-sexism. This article examines the myriad ways in which Du Bois attempted to reconstruct the relationship between race and reproduction in the interest of producing anti-racist, anti-nationalist, as well as internationalist thinking. In so doing it treats the various representations of black maternity and child birth that Du Bois created, and elaborates on the rhetorical and political function of these representations in combating the racialization of national belonging on the one hand, and in articulating universal black citizenship, or what this article theorizes as racial globality on the other. The article begins by considering Du Bois′s attempts to transcend ideas about the racialized reproductive body as a source of national belonging within the United States, particularly his efforts to contest the idea of the reconstructing nation as a white nation reproduced exclusively by white women. Through analysis of Du Bois′s depiction of the birth and death of his son in his monumental work The Souls of Black Folk (1903) it demonstrates his reluctance to build an anti-racist politics founded on the idea that belonging within the nation is something that can be bestowed by one′s mother. The article proceeds by turning to Du Bois less well-known romantic novel, Dark Princess (1928) in which, by contrast, he depicts the birth of a "golden chi1d" who belongs not only within the United States, but within the world. This child, the son of an African American man and an Indian Princess, is cast as a messenger and messiah of a utopian alliance between pan-Asia and pan-Africa. In exploring the relationship between these two reproductive portraits, the article moves from a discussion of Du Bois′s critique of the ideological construction of the U.S. as a white nation reproduced by white progenitors, to an examination the literary figuration of a b1aek mother out of whose womb a black diasporic anti-imperialist alliance springs. In contrast to previous scholarship, which has tended to focus on the critique of U.S. racial nationalism that Du Bois expressed in his early work, or on the internationalism that he later embraced, this article pays close attention to how Du Bois′s anti-nationalist and internationalist politics together subtended by subtle, but constitutive, sexual politics.
