Ocean surface current data in Korea was collected using sets of High-Frequency Ocean Surface Radars (HFOSRs) with 25 radial sites in the frequency range of 5~43 MHz. Site selection and the correct installation of HFOSR are very important considerations in order to secure continuous and reliable results. The installation procedures of HFOSR are summarized as follows: 1. Survey area selection; 2. Investigation of ambient radio waves and installation environment; 3. Domestic license of radio station; 4. Installation of antenna and housing of electrical and communication devices. The current work describes the entire processes of HFOSR installation within Korea.

In this paper, we describe a greedy user selection scheme for multiuser multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems. We propose a new metric which has significantly improved performance compared to the Frobenius norm metric. The approximation of projection matrix is applied to increase the accuracy of Frobenius norm of effective channel matrix. We analyze the computational complexity of two metrics by using flop counts, and also verify the achievable sum rate through numerical simulation. Our simulation result shows that the proposed metric can achieve the improved sum rate as the number of user antenna increases.
Energy efficiency is one of the most critical concerns for wireless sensor networks. By allowing sensor nodes in close proximity to cooperate in transmission to form a virtual multiple-input multiple-output(MIMO) system, recent progress in wireless MIMO communications can be exploited to boost the system throughput, or equivalently reduce the energy consumption for the same throughput and BER target. However, these cooperative transmission strategies may incur additional energy cost and system overhead. In this paper, assuming that data collectors are equipped with antenna arrays and superior processing capability, energy efficiency of relevant traditional and cooperative transmission strategies: Single-input-multiple-output(SIMO), space-time block coding(STBC), and spatial multiplexing(SM) are studied. Analysis in the wideband regime reveals that, while receive diversity introduces significant improvement in both energy efficiency and spectral efficiency, further improvement due to the transmit diversity of STBC is limited, as opposed to the superiority of the SM scheme especially for non-trivial spectral efficiency. These observations are further confirmed in our analysis of more realistic systems with limited bandwidth, finite constellation sizes, and a target error rate. Based on this analysis, general guidelines are presented for optimal transmission strategy selection in system level and link level, aiming at minimum energy consumption while meeting different requirements. The proposed selection rules, especially those based on system-level metrics, are easy to implement for sensor applications. The framework provided here may also be readily extended to other scenarios or applications.

In this paper, we propose a user selection method to maximize the sum-rate of downlink over opportunistic beamforming. The throughput of an opportunistic beamforming with non-uniformly distributed or a small number of users can decrease. In order to improve the throughput, we propose a scheduling method that does not use SINR or SNR but uses the effective channel gain of each user obtained from the SINR or SNR feedback. The proposed method makes it possible to select users flexibly according to the distribution of users. In numerical results, we show that the proposed methods improve the average sum-rate about 60% when users are distributed non uniformly.

Coordinated multi-point (CoMP) transmission has been regarded as a potential technology for LTE-Advanced. In frequency division duplexing systems, channel quantization is applied for reporting channel state information (CSI). Considering the dynamic number of cooperation base stations (BSs), asymmetry feature of CoMP channels and high searching complexity, simply increasing the size of the codebook used in traditional multiple antenna systems to quantize the global CSI of CoMP systems directly is infeasible. Per-cell codebook based channel quantization to quantize local CSI for each BS separately is an effective method. In this paper, the theoretical upper bounds of system throughput are derived for two codeword selection schemes, independent codeword selection (ICS) and joint codeword selection (JCS), respectively. The feedback overhead and selection complexity of these two schemes are analyzed. In the simulation, the system throughput of ICS and JCS is compared. Both analysis and simulation results show that JCS has a better tradeoff between system throughput and feedback overhead. The ICS has obvious advantage in complexity, but it needs additional phase information (PI) feedback for obtaining the approximate system throughput with JCS. Under the same number of feedback bits constraint, allocating the number of bits for channel direction information (CDI) and PI quantization can increase the system throughput, but ICS is still inferior to JCS. Based on theoretical analysis and simulation results, some recommendations are given with regard to the application of each scheme respectively.

The newly introduced model of a STTC-based Distributed Wireless Communication System (DWCS) can provide the capability of joint control of the signals at multiple cells. This paper has considered the virtual cell systems: the Dual Virtual Cell (DVC), and also proposes DVC employment strategy based on DWCS network. The considered system constructs DVC by using antenna selection method. Also, for multi-user high-rate data transmission, the proposed system introduces multiple antenna technology to get a spatial and temporal diversity gain and exploits space-time trellis codes known as STTC to increase a spectral efficiency.

To predict propagation environments of antenna radiation pattern, it is very important for deceision of service area, selection of the best station location and design of cell etc. By analyzing the propagation prediction model that is varied acceding to the kind of antenna, beam angle, terrain and obstacles, we expect that the economic operating of communication networks, calling quality and service of subscriber will be enhanced. It was measured the fields strength to propose the optimal propargation predicted model of the zone of Seji base station in Naju-city. The simulations of field test are 4 types Hata model, the Egri model, the Carey model and the proposed model. Finally the proposed model are more close agreement with experimental test than other models.
The procurement of mobile microwave scatterometer involve the consideration to ensure vehicle and equipment selection full-filled technical requirement and safety standard in Malaysia. Designing, and modification works involve engineering methodology in determining and selecting a suitable hydraulic telescopic boom that suit a selected vehicle available from the market. The vehicle is also a delivery system for microwave remote sensing equipment and other accessories to any locations in Malaysia. Total loading to be carried by the vehicle is about 4500 kg and its overall weight must be 16,000 kg as recommended by hydraulic telescopic boom manufacturers. The telescopic boom will elevate microwave scatterometer system and antenna to a maximum height of 27 m, and can also be rotated through 360$^{\circ}$. A mechanism is incorporated in the system to enable tracking or monitoring angular movement of the hydraulic telescopic boom when positioned towards required target.

In order to achieve high capacity and reliable link quality in wireless communication, the significant efforts should be concentrated on mitigating interference between cells. To solve the interference problem, the newly introduced concept of a Distributed Wireless Communication System (DWCS) can provide the capability of joint control of the signals at multiple cells. This paper proposes a new concept of virtual cell: the Dual Virtual Cell (DVC), and also proposes DVC employment strategy based on DWCS network. The proposed system manages two kinds of virtual cell. One is the Active Virtual Cell which exists for user's actual data traffic and the other is the Candidate Virtual Cell which contains a set of candidate antennas to protect user's link quality from performance degradation or interruption. The proposed system constructs DVC by using antenna selection method. Also, for multi-user high-rate data transmission, the proposed system introduces multiple antenna technology to get a spatial and temporal diversity gam and exploits space-Time Trellis Codes known as STTC to increase a spectral efficiency.

In this paper, we consider a two way relay network for ship-to-ship communications in a fleet, where two communicating ships exchange the information with the help of a multi-antenna relay ship. For the network, we propose a rate-aware three-phase analog network coding to improve the reliability of the information exchange with asymmetric rates. The proposed scheme allows low-complex implementation of the relay without channel estimation by generating an improved analog network coded signal with the orthogonally received signals from two ships by using only the received signal power at each antenna. In addition, the proposed scheme reduces outages in the data exchange at asymmetric rates by adopting a rate-aware relay power allocation, which is confirmed by evaluating the outage performance via simulation.
