  • A microstrip feedline based open ended folded-slot antenna is proposed for ultra-wideband (UWB) applications. The prototype of the proposed antenna is fabricated on the FR4 dielectric substrate. The proposed antenna has a wide n-shaped slot that is useful for designing circuit components on the same printed circuit board (PCB) as that of the radio frequency (RF) modules. The proposed antenna use two kinds of slots as radiators, and each slots have different characteristics because of the different type of ends of the slot. The wideband characteristic can be obtained by resonances of each slot which are occurred at different frequencies. The measured impedance bandwidth (S11≤ -10 dB) is 2.9-11.56 GHz, and the antenna peak gain is 2-4 dBi over the UWB range. The antenna has a stable omni-directional radiation pattern and only a small group-delay variation across the UWB passband. In addition, we present a modified design with band-notched characteristics of a 5 GHz wireless local area network (WLAN) frequency band.

  • A new fractal geometry of the traveling wave type cross antenna is newly presented. In the conventional type of the traveling wave antenna, the electrical length of the radiating conductor increases as the order of fractal expansion increases. But, increased length of the current path degrades the performance of the antenna from the various loss mechanism of the traveling wave type antenna. To reduce the antenna performance degradation, the new hybrid fractal antenna, which divides the entire fractal structure into some smaller ones and connects each smaller fractal group with a power divider is presented. The secondly, thirdly and fourthly expanded hybrid fractal cross antennas are fabricated and their performances are examined by measurements. Influences of the fractal order to the antenna performance are examined.

  • In this paper, we have proposed a wide band antenna for manpack SDR(Software Defined Radio). The proposed antenna consists of feeding post, flexible gooseneck and two radiating elements composed of a upper and lower radiators. The upper radiator has a longer electrical length than the lower radiator in order to operate in the lower frequency. Also, the resonant frequency and impedance characteristics of the antenna can be adjusted independently for two radiators. Therefore, the proposed antenna can be achieved wide impedance bandwidth by the combination of two independent resonance modes. To analyze the characteristics of the antenna in the design process is employed the equivalent circuit theory and EM(Electro-Magnetic) simulation. The measurement results show that the proposed antenna have the sufficient wide bandwidth, above -3.4dBi of the gain and fairly good radiation pattern over the wide bandwidth.

  • This paper proposes a new multiuser scheduling algorithm that can simultaneously support a variety of different quality-of-service (QoS) user groups while satisfying fairness among users in the same QoS group in MIMO broadcast channels. Toward this goal, the proposed algorithm consists of two parts: a QoS-aware fair (QF) scheduling within a QoS group and an antenna trade-off scheme between different QoS groups. The proposed QF scheduling algorithm finds a user set from a certain QoS group which can satisfy the fairness among users in terms of throughput or delay. The antenna trade-off scheme can minimize the QoS violations of a higher priority user group by trading off the number of transmit antennas allocated to different QoS groups. Numerical results demonstrate that the proposed QF scheduling method satisfies different types of fairness among users and can adjust the degree of fairness among them. The antenna trade-off scheme combined with QF scheduling can improve the probability of QoS-guaranteed transmission when supporting different QoS groups.

  • A miniaturized triple-band antenna suitable for wireless USB dongle applications is proposed and investigated in this paper. The presented antenna, simply consisting of a circular-arc-shaped stub, an L-shaped stub, a microstrip feed line, and a rectangular ground plane has a compact size of $16mm{\times}38.5mm$ and is capable of generating three separate resonant modes with very good impedance matching. The measurement results show that the antenna has several impedance bandwidths for S11 ${\leq}$ -10 dB of 260 MHz (2.24 GHz to 2.5 GHz), 320 MHz (3.4 GHz to 3.72 GHz), and 990 MHz (5.1 GHz to 6.09 GHz), which can be applied to both 2.4/5.2/5.8 GHz WLAN bands and 3.5/5.5 GHz WiMAX bands. Moreover, nearly-omni-directional radiation patterns and stable gain across the operating bands can be obtained.

  • This paper describes an ultra-wideband (UWB) antenna that uses a ring resonator concept. The proposed antenna can operate in the entire UWB, and the IEEE 802.11a frequency band can be rejected by inserting a notch stub into the ring resonator. The experiment results indicate that the measured impedance bandwidth of the proposed antenna is 17.5 GHz (2.5 GHz to at least 20 GHz). The proposed UWB antenna has omnidirectional radiation patterns with a gain variation of 3 dBi (1 dBi to 4 dBi).

  • In this paper, an ultra-wideband internal antenna for use in mobile applications is proposed. The proposed antenna has symmetrical bi-arm structures printed on the top and bottom of the substrate, and it occupies a compact area of 10 mm ${\times}$ 10 mm ${\times}$ 1 mm. The designed antenna has an impedance bandwidth from 3 GHz to 12 GHz and near omnidirectional radiation patterns over the frequency band of interest. The group delay between two antennas fabricated using the proposed design is less than 0.8 ns, and the maximum gain variation is about 3.16 dB.

  • We have designed a three-channel output multiplexer (OMUX) using a band-pass filter and an ultra-wideband (UWB) antenna. The proposed band-pass filter is composed of an inner rectangular loop, an outer open stub, and a defected ground structure. The outer open stub can be used to control the pass band, and the inner rectangular loop can improve the insertion loss characteristics of the band-pass filter. The proposed band-pass filter, UWB antenna, and OMUX are fabricated and measured. The designed OMUX can cover the band group 1 (3,168-4,752 MHz) of WiX system. The measured radiation patterns are close to those of a conventional dipole antenna and the measured antenna gain varies from 1.8 dBi to 3 dBi over the operating frequency range.

  • This paper suggests a CPW-fed UWB antenna with new hexagonal slot. To increase the impedance bandwidth of an antenna, the proposed antenna is designed with the hexagonal patch. Polygonal slot is inserted in the hexagonal patch to avoid interference with IEEE 802.11a. The proposed antenna was fabricated on FR-4 substrate with a relative dielectric constant 4.7 and thickness of 1.6 mm and measured for VSWR Characteristic and group delay. The fabricated antenna shows that the gain flatness is 4 dBi except at the band for IEEE 802.11a.

  • In this paper, we propose a method that search the sweet spot of array antenna beam, and keep it for fast speed transmission in millimeter wave on single array antenna link. We use TDD(Time Division Duplex) as transfer method, and it transfers the control data of antenna. The proposed method is the modified genetic algorithm which selects a superior initial group through slave-processing in order to resolve the local solution of genetic algorithm. The efficiency of the proposed method is verified by means of simulations with white Gaussian noise and not on single array antenna link.
