Recently, GPS(Global Positioning System) array antenna technology is generally used and widely adopted as a national infrastructure structure and aero-vehicles for protection the GPS signal reception. Until now, the 2-dimensional planar array is universally used for its applications in the array antenna signal processing, however relatively higher altitude air vehicles such as UAV experiences additional null zones induced by low altitude GPS interferences which is located in a symmetry zone of antenna horizontal plane and this could make the receiving antenna pattern coverage reduction. In this paper, we improved 20% of the beam pattern receiving performance and 13 dB correlation value improvement by eliminating the interference mirror images.

Direction estimation of signal of interest has been an important issue in radar and communication system. Generally, DOA(Direction Of Arrival) methods have been researched in the field of signal processing with ideal array sensors. However, there are some problems in array antennas such as the input signal distortions in amplitude and phase, due to the mutual coupling between array elements. In this paper, we propose a new method of DOA estimation in the dipole array antenna by using the method of moment(MoM) to compensate the mutual coupling effects between array antenna elements. Also, the proposed method is applied to the estimation of azimuth(${\phi}$ ) and elevation(${\theta}$) angles using uniformly linear dipole array under noisy environments.
A novel phased array antenna system for space-borne polarimetric SAR is proposed and completed in this paper. The antenna system assures polarimetric and multi-mode capability of SAR. It has broadband, high polarization isolation and high port to port isolation. The antenna system is composed of broadband polarimetric microstrip antenna, T/R modules and multifunction beam controller nit. The polarimetric microstrip antenna has more than 100MHz bandwidth at L-band with -30dB polarization isolation and high port to port isolation. The microstrip element and T/R module's structure and characteristics, the subarray's performances measuring results are presented in detail in this paper. A design scheme on beam controller of the phased array antenna is also proposed and completed, which is based on Digital Signal Processing (DSP) chip -TMS320F206. This beam controller unit has small size and high reliability compared with general beam controller. In addition, the multifunction beam controller unit can acquire and then send the T/R module's working states to detection system in real time.

Many spoofing detection studies have been conducted to cope with the most difficult types of deception among various disturbances of GPS, such as jamming, spoofing, and meaconing. In this paper, we propose a spoofing detection scheme based on elevation masked-relative received power between GPS L1 and L2 signals in a system using a multi-band array antenna. The proposed scheme focuses on enabling spoofing to be normally detected and minimizes the possibility of false detection in an environment where false alarms may occur due to pattern distortion among elements of an array antenna. The pattern distortion weakens the GPS signal strength at low elevation. It becomes confusing to detect a spoofing signal based on the relative power difference between GPS L1 and L2, especially when GPS L2 has weak signal strength. We propose design parameters for the relative power threshold including beamforming gain, the minimum received power difference between L1 and L2, and the patch antenna gain difference between L1 and L2. In addition, in order to eliminate the weak signal strength of GPS L2 in the spoofing detection process, we propose a rotation matrix that sets the elevation mask based on platform coordinates. Array antennas generally do not have high usefulness in commercial areas where receivers are operated alone, but are considered essential in military areas where GPS receivers are used together with signal processing for beamforming in the direction of GPS satellites. Through laboratory and live sky tests using the device under test, the proposed scheme with an elevation mask detects spoofing signals well and reduces the probability of false detection relative to that without the elevation mask.

Electromagnetically coupled coaxial dipole (ECCD) array antenna with and without short-ended termination is investigated theoretically. The integral equations are derived for the structure by use of the Fourier transform and mode expansion of radial waveguide. The integrals appearing in the integral equations are evaluated along the branch cut instead of real axis for a faster convergent integral. The effects of slots and dipoles, short-ended termination length, and dielectric coating on the radiation characteristics are presented. Radiation pattern of the structure is also investigated. The results of the present method are compared with those of the commercial EM simulator and good agreement is found.

This paper analyzes, through simulations, GNSS interference mitigation performance against wideband and narrowband interferences by using spatial-temporal adaptive processing(STAP). The mathematical analysis results demonstrate that the array configuration has a considerable effect on the spatial-temporal correlation function. Based on the results, different array configurations are presented to evaluate and observe the effect on interference mitigation. The analysis results are further assessed through simulations.

A fast correlative vector direction finding(CVDF) system using active dipole antenna array for mobile direction finding(DF) applications is presented. To develop the CVDF system, the main elements such as active dipole antenna, multi-channel direction finder, and search receiver are designed and analyzed. The active antenna is designed as composite structure to improve the filed strength sensitivity over the wide frequency range, and the multi-channel direction finder and search receiver are designed using DDS-based PLL with settling time of below 35 us to achieve short signal processing time. This system provides the capabilities of the high DF sensitivity over the wide frequency range and allows for high probability of intercept and accurate angle of arrival(AOA) estimation for agile signals. The design and performance analysis according to the external noise and modulation schemes of the CVDF system with five-element circular array are presented in detail.

In this paper, we implement a digital multi-beamformer using FPGA(Field Programmable Gate Array) which has advantages in parallel and real-time data processing. This is accomplished through the use of not only high-speed data communication but also multiple beam forming, which is currently required by MFR(Multi Function Radar). As a result, the beamformer can process 24 Gbps throughput in real-time and form 5 digital beams at the same time. It is also compared to the results of Matlab simulations. We demonstrate how an implemented beamformer can be used in an MFR system by using a digital array antenna.

In this paper, the novel shipboard Active Phased Array Antenna(APAA) system for maritime mobile satellite communications is introduced. The antenna uses novel technologies like wide range hybrid tracking, single antenna elements with both of Rx and Tx, asymmetrical array structure, interference isolation between Rx and Tx, and error correction method from frequency scan effect. The antenna has single aperture for both of Rx and Tx with 32 $\times$ 4 two-dimensional array. The antenna has two beams. Its frequencies are 7.25 ~ 7.75 GHz for Rx and 7.9 ~ 8.4 GHz for Tx. The antenna gains are 35.4 dBi for Rx and 35.7 dBi for Tx, those are 54 % of efficiency. The electrically steering ranges are $\pm$35$^{\circ}$ of elevation direction and $\pm$4$^{\circ}$ of azimuth direction. The mechanical control ranges at hybrid tracking capability are continuous 360$^{\circ}$ of azimuth direction and $\pm$10$^{\circ}$ of elevation direction. The antenna has 2.2$^{\circ}$ of 3 dB beamwidth, -14 dB of sidelobe level, and 21 dB of cross-pol suppression. The antenna performance was measured by near field measurement set. Its system performance was tested on the ship motion simulator and with the satellite transponder simulator. The test result showed that its tracking error was within -3 dB from its peak gain under motion condition. The antenna system was tested by real modulated Direct Broadcasting Satellite(DBS) signals to check its communication processing function.

This paper presents a modified on-off algorithm based on the gradient method for providing the phase of each antenna element more accurately and simply compared to the conventional on-off algorithm. The sup4erisority of theproposed method is due to the fact that the proposed method finds the increase and decrease of the array output power more accurately by utilizing the gradient of array output power with respect to the instantaneous phase of array element. The array antenna adopting to the proposed method formsmaximum beam-pattern along the direction of the desired signal by aligning the phase of every antenna enement. The proposed method is applied to both linear and two-dimentional aray for analyzing the result. The capability of the real-time processing of the proposed technique is confirmed by implementing the proposed algorithm with TMS320C30 Evaluation Module. Since the computational load required to form the beam-pattern per snapshot is small, the proposed method is suitable for the mobile communication system of which the response must be fast. By the results obtained from the application of the proposed method to the CDMA mobile communication environment, it is vreified that the performance of the received signal is consideralbly improved.
