  • In this paper, dual-polarized monopulse cassegrain antenna for W-band millimeter-wave seeker was proposed and the performances were verified by the measured results of the fabricated antenna. Dual-polarized monopulse Cassegrain antenna consists of main/subreflector, dual-polarized feed horn and monopulse comparator. The proposed feed horn has $2{\times}2$ array square waveguide feeding structure to make monopulse signals and it was designed using 90 degree rotational symmetric structure to receive dual-polarized signals. At the sum and difference channel, the measured vertical and horizontal polarization radiation pattern were similar. Measurement gains are 35.1 dBi for v-pol. and 35.6 dBi for h-pol. at the center frequency with 0.5dBi difference between each polarization and the side lobe level is below -21.6 dB.

  • A novel design for a simple rectangular ring with open-ended monopole antenna wireless local area network (WLAN) applications is proposed in this article. The proposed antenna consists of an open-ended rectangular ring, an inverted L-strip, and a rectangular slit in the ground plane, and is fed by a 50 ${\Omega}$ microstrip feed-line. Prototypes of the proposed antenna were designed, fabricated, and tested. Experimental results show that the proposed antenna receives 2.3125-2.775 GHz and 4.8625-6.7125 GHz with a return loss less than -10 dB, covering the required bandwidths of the 2.4/5.2/5.8 GHz WLAN standards. Meanwhile, the 2D radiation patterns and 3D gain performance of the antenna in the operation bands were also observed and discussed.

  • In this letter, a simple method for reducing the size of a dual-band planar inverted-F antenna (PIFA) is described. This method is based on a coupling capacitor connected in parallel to the PIFA feed conductor. The proposed antenna occupies a small ground clearance of $10mm{\times}5mm$ and is able to provide -10-dB impedance bandwidths of 120 MHz and 760 MHz for 2.45-GHz and 5.5-GHz wireless local area network applications, respectively. The measured antenna efficiencies are 71.8% and 73.6%, averaged over the 2.45-GHz and 5.5-GHz frequency bands, respectively.

  • This paper describes a wideband double dipole quasi-Yagi antenna fed by a microstrip-to-slotline transition. The transition feed consists of a microstrip radial stub and a slot radial stub, each with the same angle of $90^{\circ}$ but with different radii, to achieve wideband impedance matching. Double dipoles with different lengths are utilized as primary radiation elements to enhance bandwidth and achieve stable radiation patterns. The proposed antenna has a measured bandwidth of 3.34~8.72 GHz for a -10 dB reflection coefficient and a flat gain of $6.9{\pm}0.6$ dBi across the bandwidth.

  • In this paper, a series-fed microstrip array antenna utilized a sub-array with a waveguide slot feeding is presented. This sub-array can reduce the feed loss compared with a full microstrip feed network. The sub-array has been designed both for a broad reflection bandwidth and a flat gain bandwidth from 40.5 GHz to 43.5 GHz. The $24{\times}24$ array antenna has been implemented with the maximum gain of 32.4 dBi.

  • The gain variations of paraboloid reflector antenna with an axially and perpendicularly defocused feed are investigated using the Huygens-Fresnel Principle. The theoretical calculations and the experimental for the reflector antenna with an axially defocused feed are compared. Although there were about 3dB difference between two results in a range from focal point to 2.0 wave-length, we could know that it was property approached to theoretical results. However, when the magnitude of defocusing is increased, the differences are also increased because of the influence by a weak received signal and interference of external noises. In addition, it can be shown that gain variations are acutely decreased more in perpendicular defocusing than in axial defocusing in the paraboloid reflector antenna.

  • In this paper, the input impedance of coaxial fed rectangular microstrip patch antenna located inside rectangular waveguide is calculated by using the cavity model and the mode excited in the waveguide by the patch antenna. The return loss and efficiency of the patch antennas as a function of feed position in. free space and in waveguide are calculated and compared. The maximum efficiency of the antennas in waveguide and in free space are obtained at different feed position.

  • In this paper, coplanar waveguide fed antennas (CPWFAs) insetting two slits to boundary of the square microstrip patch are presented. These slits play roles in not only lowering a resonant frequency but also fine-tuning for the proposed antenna together with open stub of CPW feed line. The CPWFAs were designed and manufactured using microwave dielectrics (Al,Mg)TaO$_2$ having high dielectric-constant ($\varepsilon$r=20). The return loss and input impedance of the CPWFAs were investigated in terms of the slit length and open stub length of CPW feed line. It is shown that a resonant frequency decreases as the slit length increases.

  • An analytic solution of circular aperture antenna with a feed transition is presented using a hybrid method of generalized scattering matrices and integral transform. The method can give an analytic solution to antennas with integrated filters or mode converters, etc. Scattering matrices and integral transform techniques are combined to accommodate discontinuities connected between an aperture and a feed waveguide, and radiated field from the aperture. The method gives radiation fields as well as return losses of the antenna.

  • Negative impedance converter(NIC)-based non-Foster impedance matching is proposed for an electrically small antenna. The antenna considered in this work is a resistively loaded vee dipole(RVD) antenna, which has considerable reflection at the feed point because of its large negative input reactance. The non-Foster matching circuit built near the feed point consists of two-stage NIC circuit and a capacitor connected between the stages. The NIC is realized by using operational amplifiers(op-amps) and resistors. The circuit is designed by considering of the input impedance according to the finite open-loop gain of the practical NICs. The stability test of the impedance-matched RVD antenna is performed. The non- Foster matching circuit is implemented with the RVD antenna. The measured impedance demonstrates that the proposed non-Foster matching circuit effectively reduces the input reactance of the RVD antenna.
