In designing reluctance motor, it is important to know the flux distribution of the inside of the motor. The reluctance motor which has axially laminated anisotropic(a.l.a.) rotor was proved to have high efficiency. To analyze this motor, it needs to consider the anisotropic characteristic of the rotor. This paper shows the flux distribution of the a.l.a. reluctance motor by finite element method (FEM) considering the anisotropic characteristic and the saturation of the core. And this paper shows the static torque for the variation of the stator dimension. This will be helpful to design the a.l.a. switched reluctance motor.
This paper considers an anisotropic polytropic infiltration equation with a source term $$u_t={\sum\limits_{i=1}^{N}}{\frac{{\partial}}{{\partial}x_i}}\(a_1(x){\mid}u{\mid}^{{\alpha}_i}{\mid}u_{x_i}{\mid}^{p_i-2}u_{x_i}\)+f(x,t,u)$$, where pi > 1, αi > 0, ai(x) ≥ 0. The existence of weak solution is proved by parabolically regularized method. Based on local integrability $u_{x_i}{\in}W_{loc}^{1,p_i}(\Omega)$, the stability of weak solutions is proved without boundary value condition by the weak characteristic function method. One of the essential characteristics of an anisotropic equation different from an isotropic equation is found originally.

As most fractures of ductile materials in metal forming processes occurred due to the results of evolution of internal damage - void nucleation, growth and coalescence. In this paper, an approximate yield criterion for voided (porous) anisotropic ductile materials is developed. The proposed approximate yield function is based on Gurson's yield function in conjunction with the Hosford's non-quadratic anisotropic yield criterion in order to consider the characteristic of anisotropic properties of matrix material. The associated flow rules are presented and the laws governing void growth with strain are derided. Using the proposed model void growth of an anisotropic sheet under biaxial tensile loading and its effect on sheet metal formability are investigated. The yield surface of voided anisotropic sheet and void growth with strain are predicted and compared with the experimental results.

Most failures of ductile materials in metal forming processes occurred due to material damage evolution - void nucleation, growth and coalescence. In this paper, the modified yield function of Liao et al in conjunction with the Hosford's yield criterion is studied to clarify the plastic deformation characteristic of voided anisotropic sheet metals. The void growth of an anisotropic sheet under biaxial tensile loading and damage effect of void growth on forming limits of sheet metals are investigated. Also the characteristic length defining the neck geometry is introduced in M-K model to incorporate the effect of triaxial stress in necked region on forming limits. The forming limits theoretically predicted are compared with experimental data. Satisfactory agreement was obtained between the predictions and experimental data.

Up to now, most studies are on interface crack problems in isotropic-isotropic dissimilar materials, but it seems to be not so much on anisotropic dissimlar materials. In this study, the stress intensity factors for an interface crack in anisotropic dissimilar materials are analysed using author's proposed extrapolation method by BEM and we have done a parametric study about material properties or shapes of crack affecting to the stress intensity factors. However, as there are not other's comparable numerical results on these anisotropic dissimilar materials to the best of author's knowledge, the reliability of the present results was proved by following two methods. The first is considering the asymptotic characteristic about stress intensity factors for an interface crack in anisotropic materials when the ansiotropic material approachs to the isotropic material. The second is considering the discontinuity of stress intensity factors between of a crack in an identical homogeneous anisotropic material and an interface crack in anisotropic dissimilar materials.

Composite materials are generally treated as anisotropic or an orthotropic materials. Unlike isotropic materials, the orthotropic materials can divided three groups depending upon the relationship of the four material constants or depending upon the characteristic roots of orthotropic materials. In particular, the fundamental solutions of two dimensional BEM for composite materials (orthotropic or anisotropic material) generally have a singularity in the conventional method when the characteristic roots are equal. In consideration of this singularity in the conventional method when the characteristic roots are equal. In consideration of this singular problems, in this paper, the fundamental solutions of BEM are systematically analysed for orthotropic materials. And the stress and displacement fields for a crack in an orthotropic materials are singular when the characteristic roots of orthotropic materials are equal. Therefore, these fields for a crack in an orthotropic materials are analysed by the analogous method to isotropic materials when the characteristic roots are equal.

In this paper, shielded suspended coplanar waveguide with multiple anisotropic substrates is analyzed by the point matching method in the quasi-TEM mode appoximation. The characteristic impedance and the effective dielectric constant are calculated by varying the width of center strip and gap between the center strip and the ground strip. And also the characteristic parameters are calculated as a function of ${\varepsilon}_{x}/{\varepsilon}_{y}$) and a permitivity of the support substrate. Approaching the ground strip to infinity, the values of the characteristic parameters are found to be in good agreement with the other results by variational method.

This paper deals with finite element characteristic analysis of brushless DC motor according to magnetic property measurement methods. Magnetic property data for non-oriented (NO) electrical steel for electric motors are measured by the Epstein test which is considered as the international standards. Data from Epstein test may result in discrepancy from motor characteristic tests due to innate anisotropic property of NO electrical steel. Finite element analysis were performed for a BLDC motor by various measurement methods such as Epstein test, Ring test and single sheet test (SST), and calculated results were compared with considering anisotropic property conditions.
In this study a new design concept of the Fabry-Perot filter, constructed with an anisotropic space layer and a couple of isotropic mirrors, was proposed based on the Maxwell equations and the characteristic matrix method. The single- and double-cavity Fabry-Perot filters were designed, and their optical properties were investigated with a developed software package. In addition, the dependence of the transmittance and phase shift for two orthogonal polarization states on the column angle of the anisotropic space layer and the incidence angle were discussed. We demonstrated that the polarization state of electromagnetic waves and phase shifts can be modulated by exploiting an anisotropic space layer in a polarization F-P filter. Birefringence of the anisotropic space layer provided a sophisticated phase modulation with varied incidence angles over a broad range, resulting in a wide-angle phase shift. This new concept would be useful for designing optical components with isotropic and anisotropic materials.

In this paper, when stress waves are propagated along the reinforced direction of the composite, the characteristic equation of Rayleigh wave is derived. The relationships between velocities of stress waves and Rayleigh wave are studied for anisotropic ratios(E(sub)11/E(sub)12 or E(sub)22/E(sub)11). The increments of anisotropic ratios is made by using known material properties and being constant of basic properties. When the anisotropic ratios are increased, Rayleigh wave velocities to the shear wave velocities are almost equal to 1 with any anisotropic ratios. Rayleigh wave velocities to the longitudinal wave velocities and Shear wave velocities ratio to the longitudinal wave velocities are almost identical each other, they are between 0.12 and 0.21. When the anisotropic ration is very high, that is, E(sub)11/E(sub)22=46.88, Rayleigh wave velocities and the shear wave velocities are almost constant with Poissons ratio, longitudinal wave velocities are very slowly increased with the increments of Poissons ratios. When E(sub)11(elastic modulus of the reinforced direction)and ν(sub)12 are constant, Rayleigh wave velocities and the shear wave velocities are steeply decreased with the increments of anisotropic ratios and the velocities of longitudinal wave are almost constant with them. When E(sub)22(elastic modulus of the normal direction to the fiber) and ν(sub)12 are constant, Rayeigh wave velocities is slowly increased with the increments of anisotropic ratios, the shear wave velocities are almost constant with them, the longitudinal wave velocities are steeply increased with them.
