Mononuclear mixed-anions Mn complex of TPAMn(η2-NO3)(η-ClO4), where TPA is tris(2-pyridylmethyl)-amine, has been synthesized and characterized. The neutral TPAMn(η2-NO3)(η-ClO4) was obtained from the reaction between Mn(NO3)2·4H2O and [H3TPA](ClO4)3 in MeOH. X-ray crystallographic structure of mononuclear TPAMn(η2-NO3)(η-ClO4) complex showed a seven-coordinated geometry with a tripodal tetradentate TPA, a terminal perchlorate and an η2-bound nitrate.
The reactions of nitrous acid with hydrogen peroxide in acidic aqueous solution in the presence of several added anions have been studied at $0^{\circ}C$ and pH 2-4 to investigate the nucleophilic catalysis of these anions. From the dependence of reaction rates on the anion concentrations, significant catalytic effects were found for $Cl^-,\;Br^-,\;SCN^-$, in order of effect $SCN^-\;{\approx}\;Br^->Cl^-$, while no observable effect was found for ${ClO_4}^-$ and ${NO_3}^-$. These results support O-nitrosation reaction is the rate-determining step and NOX formed in the presence of an anion ($X^-$) also acts as a nitrosating agent and accelerates the overall reaction rate. The order of reactivity was found to be NOCl>NOBr>NOSCN, which is consistent with the results of N-nitrosation and S-nitrosation reactions.

Atmospheric particulate matter (A. P. M.) was collected and size-fractionated by an Andersen high-volume air sampler over 15 month period from Jan. 1985 to Feb. 1986 in Seoul. The concentration of chloride, nitrate and sulfate were extracted in an ultrasonic bath and were analyzed by ion chromatography. The annual arithmetical mean of A. P. M. was 128.54 $\mug/m^3$. The concentration of anions were 2.88 $\mug/m^3$ for chloride, 3.86$\mug/m^3$ for nitrate, and 25.44$\mug/m^3$ for sulfate. The content of A. P. M. was lowest in the particle size range 1.1 $\sim 3.3\mum$ and increased as the particle size increased or decreased. And the anions exhibited a seasonal variation in the isize distribution. The contents of anions were higher in winter than summer. Ther ratio of fine particles to the total particles defined by F/T for chloride, nitrate and sulfate. The F\ulcornerT of these anion generally decrease with increasing air temperature. This tendency was prevalent in the chloride and nitrate.
A rapid analytical method based on capillary electrophoresis is described for the determination of trace anions in high-purity chemicals which is used to prevent corrosion demage in nuclear power plants. Separations are carried out at 20kV using trimethylsilane-coated fused-silica capillary ($70cm{\times}50$ or $75{\mu}m$ i.d.) with the electrolyte of 5mM Chromate(pH=8). Detection was achieved using on-column indirect photometry at 254nm. The simultaneous analysis of inorganic anions, chloride, nitrate, sulfate, azide and phosphate was performed using methods of hydrodynamic(>1ppm) and / or electrokinetic(<1ppm) injection. The results of studies on the coexisting anions on analyte ions shows that peak responses of analyte in hydrodynamic injection is constant without effect of coexisting anions, but those of analysis in electrokinetic injection is strongly dependant upon the kind of coexisting anions and its ionic mobility. The analyte enrichment rate, hence peak response, is positive relationship with the resistance of the sample solution. Thus, appropriate measures, such as standard addition or internal standard technique, must be used to account for differences in conductance of standard and sample solutions.
These studies were investigated ionic balance of leaves from different stalk positions of tobacco plant (cv. NC82) grown on pots supplied with nitrate salts solution in the phytotrone. The results of studies are summerized as follows: 1. In comparision with the leaves along the stalk positions, lower position contained higher proportion of total cation and total anion including organic acid, but their concentration lessened gradually at the upper stalk. The ratio in amounts of inorganic cations and anions in leaf laminae depended on their stalk positon, being more than three times in the fifth, but becoming about 1.3 in the tenth. 2. Inorganic cations in the laminae were mostly $K^+$, $Ca^{{+}{+}}$, and $Mg^{{+}{+}}$, comprising about 80% of total with the first two regardless of their stalk positions. Among these two ions $Ca^{{+}{+}}$ tended to become higher at lower stalks, while $K^+$ was higher in younger and became lower when leaves got older and/or more number of leaves were emerged. 3. Total cations were balanced with inorganic and organic acid anions. Composition of inorganic and organic anions were different along stalk positions, ionic balance was governed by organic acid anions dominantly in older leaves, but by inorganic anions in the younger leaves. 4. The discrepancy in the balance between total cations and anions was more pronounced in the older leaves containing higher amount of cations and organic acids. It was suggested that discrepancy was due to precipitation of oxalate as Ca-salt which was not dissolved in the methylation solution of measurement employed.
The shape and characteristics of polymers in hydrolzed and polymerized sol were affected by the types of catalysts. In our research, the contents of water and catalysts were constant and the types of catalyst were varied. In the case of acid catalysts, polymers in sol were linear and spinnable. The shapes of polymer were affected by the types of anions in acid catalysts. In the case of catalyst having anions, F, Cl, in the same period, the effects were similar. But in the case of base catalysts polymers were rigid rod like and not spinnable.
A new amine receptor 2 utilizing anthracene and nitrophenyl group as signaling group was designed and synthesized. The receptor 2 only utilizes four amine N-H's and 9-anthracenyl hydrogen to bind anions. The receptor 2 can bind anions through hydrogen bonds with a selectivity of $CH_3CO_2^-$ > $H_2PO_4^-$ > $F^-$ > $C_6H_5CO_2^-$ > $Cl^-$ in highly polar solvent such as DMSO without protonation of amine.
A new anion receptor utilizing carbamate functionality as hydrogen bonding site has been designed and synthesized. This new receptor 2 has two amide hydrogens and two carbamate hydrogens anchored at 1,8-position of anthracene. These four hydrogens form a concave structure for the anions and the receptor 2 was found to be a selective receptor for acetate among the anions investigated.
Anion receptor based on 2-imidazolidone molecular scaffold has been synthesized. Anion binding studies carried out using 1H NMR and UV?vis spectroscopy revealed that this receptor 6 displays selectivity for the for the oxyanions such as acetate and dihydrogenphosphate ions and the affinity for the anions simply reflects the basicity of anions.
The transport of phenol from waste water through the liquid surfactant membrane containing Aliquat 336 as a carrier was analyzed by a theoretical model. Extraction experiments was carried out to investigate the effect of process parameters, such as mixing intensity, concentration of sodium hydroxide in internal aqueous solution, and counter anions, and initial phenol concentration in waste water at $25^{\circ}C$. It was found that transport rate of phenol increased with increasing pH differents. The transport rate of phenol in waste water was influenced by counter anions.
