  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics of environment-friendliness of Root Barrier materials based on comprehensive experiments on harmfulness of Root Barrier materials and fish toxicity of Oryzias latipes mortality to verify eco-toxicity of each method of construction and Root Barrier material, which are to be applied by taking eco-toxicity into account when building ecological flows in upper areas on natural and artificial grounds. As a result, the following conclusions have been reached in this study: 1. In regard of the harmfulness analyzed, each material showed a different result of analytical value in each lab tank. Compared to lab tank, pH (la), DO (lb), T-N (VI) and T-coli (la) were in the same grade, but COD, SS, T-P and F-coli were less than that of control, respectively increased or decreased by material were analyzed. 2. In the experiment of fish toxicity, Barrier sheet was found to have 66.7% of fish mortality, indicating strong fish toxicity. Synthetic rubber system root barrier sheet (20.0%) was analyzed to have medium fish toxicity, while Synthetic resin system root barrier-waterproof sheet (3.3%), Synthetic rubber system membrane root barrier sheet (3.3%) and Synthetic resin system root barrier sheet (0.0%) showed relatively lower mortality and fish toxicity. To sum up such results as found in the experiment mentioned so far, the values of harmfulness and root penetration resistance analyzed were different in each lab tank, but there was absolutely little correlation with the mortality gained from the experiment on fish toxicity. In the experiment of fish toxicity, environment-friendly root barrier materials were analyzed, and it was found that Synthetic resin system root barrier sheet, Synthetic resin system root barrier waterproof sheet and Synthetic rubber system membrane root barrier sheet are highly environment-friendly. In contrast, Synthetic rubber system root barrier sheet was found to have medium-level environment-friendliness. Also, Barrier sheet was analyzed to have low environment-friendliness.

  • The paper explores how information science knowledge can be used systematically in digital, interdisciplinary research settings and gives a conceptual analysis of the relationship between information science knowledge as donor and other research as receiver in an interdisciplinary project environment. The validity of the approach is demonstrated by the author's work on the project "The Primacy of Tense: A. N. Prior Now and Then." The study proposes a hybrid approach, combining analysis and synthesis. The analytical component identifies information systems, assigns an information system type to them, and accesses the information science knowledge associated with that type. The synthetic part focuses on the connections between information systems according to the receiver discipline's practices. The paper makes explicit the actions of experienced information professionals, thereby making their expertise accessible to others. The analytical and synthetic strategies are explained by linking them to two modes of researchers in the receiver discipline, how they act as researchers and what they know about it. The paper offers information professionals concrete assistance with identification of the appropriate strategy for accessing professional knowledge and taking appropriate actions and development decisions.

  • A method was described for the graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrophotometric determination of trace cadmium, copper, chromium and lead in urine samples. The elements were directly determined without any other treatments. The ash temperature was intensively optimized to improve the large background by the removal of organic materials and alkali and alkali earth metals in urine samples. Two kinds of standard solutions were used to plot calibration curves. From the recovery data, it could be confirmed that the analytical results with the synthetic urine matrix similar to real urine were more accurate than with a deionized water matrix.

  • Sensory evaluations of synthetic extracts prepared on the analytical data in the previous papers (Yang and Lee, 1979, 1930-a, 1980-b, 1982) were undertaken to determine the origin of the taste of wild common carp, Cyprinus carpio, and Korean snakehead: Channa argus. Taste panel assessments of synthetic extracts prepared with each extractive component omitted were carried out by a triangle difference test, and changes in taste profile were assessed. The synthetic extracts, prepared with about 40 pure chemicals based on the analytical data from the species satisfactorily revealed the natural taste of the original extracts except slight difference in meaty taste and mildness. From the results of omission test the major components which contribute to produce the taste of the species were assessed as follows: glycine, glutamic acid, arginine, lysine, threonine, alanine, IMP, inosine, hypoxanthine, glucose, succinic acid, $Na^{+},\;Cl^{-}\;and\;PO_{4}^{3-}$ in common carp: glycine, alanine, glutamic acid, IMP, Na+ and $PO_{4}^{3-}$ in Korean snakehead.

  • Korean Decimal Classification (KDC) 6th edition currently adopts a synthetic number-built methods by using schedule and tables. But this methods faces with limitations in building various subjects because of due to the mono-dimensional structure with the bias of note types, insufficient analytical-synthetic notes, and lack of notes that using tables. This research practically analyzed the structural limitations of the notes in KDC 6th edition and proposed a multi-dimensional structure to improve the number-building methods. The note types were analyzed using 4 main classes in schedule, and the problems of the current mono-dimensional note structure were identified. Based on the analysis results, the components of notes of the KDC were identified, and a multi-dimensional and hierarchical note structure was proposed. Through this structure, it is expected that KDC can establish a foundation for effectively responding to the evolving knowledge system.

  • Analytical results of a fixed concentration of Pb, Cd and Cr in the synthetic copper standard solution (RMs) for using the matrix no matched standard calibration curve at various wavelength by ICP showed that accuracy (140 $\sim$ 1,070% in case of Pb) is very poor at all wavelengths because of the Cu matrix effect. Analytical results of a fixed concentration of Pb, Cd and Cr in the different concentration solutions of Cu showed that found values were on the increase or decrease as the rate of a regular equation as the concentration of Cu was increased. Accuracies by the Cu matching method in the analysis of Pb, Cd and Cr in the synthetic copper standard solution (RMs) were higher than 99.9%.

  • It is noted that illegal hazardous foods containing unauthorized drugs or synthetic drung analogues are increasing. Especially, reported are unknown compounds that have the modified chemical structures of the anti-impotence drugs such as sildenafil, vardenafil, and tatalafil. In addition, it is very reserved, since illegal synthetic compounds having similar chemical structures modified from anti-impotence drug to avoid the government inspection are not proved their safety at all. This review in ulation to food safety, lists the illegal compounds added to foods and describes about the analytical methods to chanacterize 16 anti-impotence drug analogues such as homosildenafil, hongdenafil, pseudovardenafil, aminotadalafil, hydroxyhomosildenafil, hydroxyhongdenafil, dimethylsildenafil, xanthoanthrafil, hydroxyvardenafil, norneosildenafil, demethylhongdenafil, piperidinohongdenafil, carbodenafil, thiosildenafil, dimethylthiosildenafil, and acetylvardenafil.

  • A shortcoming of using transmission electron microscopy (TEM) for structural analysis via electron diffraction is the relatively large error of the measurements as compared to X-ray diffraction. To reduce these errors, various internal standard methods from earlier studies have been widely used. We developed a new device to facilitate the application of internal standard methods in preparation of TEM grids used for nanopowder analysis. Through the application of a partial mask on the TEM grid, both the internal standards and the research materials can be loaded on the same grid. Through this process, we conducted a TEM analysis that compared synthetic hydroxyapatite (HAp) nanopowder to bone apatite from a bovine femur. We determined that the accuracy of the d-spacing measurements of the HAp and bone powders could be improved to better than 1% after statistical treatments of the experimental data. By applying a quarter mask, we loaded four different nanoparticles on a single TEM grid, with one section designated for the internal standard.

  • A new assay technique to distinguish between pure compounds and the isomeric mixtures has been suggested using single molecule (SM) fluorescence detection technique. Since the number of emission spots in a fluorophorespread film prepared from a genuine dye solution was determined by experimental condition, the deviation of spot numbers from the expected values could be considered to be an indication of lower purity of the sample solution. The lower limit of sample concentration for this assay was determined to be $5{\times}10^{-10}$ M to show uniform number of expected spots within 10% uncertainties in our experimental condition. An individual fluorescence intensity distribution for a mixture of isomers having doubly different emissivities was simulated by adding distributions obtained from Cy3 and nile red (NR) independently. The result indicated that the mixture could be identified from the pure compounds through the difference in the number of Gaussian functions to fit the distribution. This new assay technique can be applied to the purity test for synthetic biofluorophores which are usually prepared in small quantities not enough for classical ensemble assays.
