실리콘 전력 MOSFET의 온도 관련 항복 전압과 ON 저항을 위한 해석적 표현 (Analytical Expressions of Temperature Dependent Breakdown Voltage and On-Resistance for Si Power MOSFETs)

  • 전자와 정공의 온도 관련 이온화 계수로부터 추출한 온도 함수의 유효 이온화 계수 및 전자 이동도를 이용하여 실리콘 전력 MOSFET의 항복 전압과 on 저항을 위한 온도 함수의 해석적 표현식을 유도하였다. 온도 함수의 해석적 항복 전압 결과를 4x10/sup 14/ cm/sup -3/, 1x10/sup 15/ cm/sup -3/, 6x10/sup 16/ cm/sup -3/의 도핑 농도에 대해 각각 실험 결과와 비교하였고, 온도 및 항복 전압 함수의 on 저항 변화도 각각 실험 결과와 비교하였다. 각농도에 따른 온도 함수의 해석적 항복 전압은 77∼300k의 온도 범위에서 실험 결과와 10% 이내의 오차로 잘 일치하였다.

Influence of axial load and loading path on the performance of R.C. bridge piers

  • Piers are the most vulnerable part of a bridge structure during an earthquake event. During Kobe earthquake in 1995, several bridge piers of the Hanshin Expressway collapsed for more than 600m of the bridge length. In this paper, the most important results of an experimental and analytical investigation of ten reinforced concrete bridge piers specimens with the same cross section subjected to constant axial (or variable) load and reversed (or one direction) cycling loading are presented. The objective was to investigate the main parameters influencing the seismic performance of reinforced concrete bridge piers. It was found that loading history and axial load intensity had a great influence on the performance of piers, especially concerning strength and stiffness degradation as well as the energy dissipation. Controlling these parameters is one of the keys for an ideal seismic performance for a given structure during an eventual seismic event. Numerical models for the tested specimens were developed and analyzed using SeismoStruct software. The analytical results show reasonable agreement with the experimental ones. The analysis not only correctly predicted the stiffness, load, and deformation at the peak, but also captured the post-peak softening as well. The analytical results showed that, in all cases, the ratio, experimental peak strength to the analytical one, was greater than 0.95.

Crack tip plastic zone under Mode I, Mode II and mixed mode (I+II) conditions

  • The shape and size of the plastic zone around the crack tip are analyzed under pure mode I, pure mode II and mixed mode (I+II) loading for small scale yielding and for both plane stress and plane strain conditions. A new analytical formulation is presented to determine the radius of the plastic zone in a non-dimensional form. In particular, the effect of T-stress on the plastic zone around the crack tip is studied. The results of this investigation indicate that the stress field with a T-stress always yields a larger plastic zone than the field without a T-stress. It is found that under predominantly mode I loading, the effect of a negative T-stress on the size of the plastic zone is more dramatic than a positive T-stress. However, when mode II portion of loading is dominating the effect of both positive and negative T-stresses on the size of the plastic zone is almost equal. For validating the analytical results, several finite element analyses were performed. It is shown that the results obtained by the proposed analytical formulation are in very good agreements with those obtained from the finite element analyses.

Development Rapid Analytical Methods for Inositol as a Trace Component by HPLC and LC-MS/MS in Infant Formula

  • A rapid and simple analytical method, using liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS), was developed to detect myo-inositol (MI) in infant formulas. For protein removal: acid hydrolysis and lipid removal through organic solvent extraction. The operating conditions for instrumental analysis were determined based on previously reported analogous methods that used LC-MS/MS. Quantitative analysis was used for the detection limit test, infant formula recovery test, and standard reference material (SRM) 1849a to verify the validity of our LC-MS/MS analytical method, which was developed to quantify MI. For validation, the results of our method were compared with the results of quantitative analyses of certified values. The test results showed that the limit of detection was 0.05 mg/L, the limit of quantitation was 0.17 mg/L, and the method detection limit was 17 mg/kg. The recovery test exhibited a recovery between 98.07-98.43% and a relative standard deviation between 1.93-2.74%. Therefore, the result values were good. Additionally, SRM 1849a was measured to have an MI content of 401.84 mg/kg and recovery of 98.25%, which is comparable to the median certified value of 409 mg/kg. From the aforementioned results, we judged that the instrumental analysis conditions and preparation method used in this study were valid. The rapid analytical method developed herein could be implemented in many laboratories that seek to save time and labor.

고장력 인장봉으로 보강된 RC보의 휨거동에 관한 해석적 연구 (An Analytical Study on the Flexural Behavior of RC Beams Strengthened with High Tension Bars)

  • 본 논문은 고장력 인장봉에 의해 보강된 RC보의 휨거동을 평가하기 위한 해석적 방법을 제시하고 있다. 본 연구에 대한 선행 실험결과를 이용하였다. 실험 논문에서는 외부 강봉 보강의 이점에 대해서 소개하고 있다. 휨거동을 평가하기 위해 본 논문은 해석적 방법으로 단순누가산정의 방법을 제시하고 있다. 이 방법은 기본적으로 고장력 인장봉에 의해 보강된 RC보가 받는 전체하중은 강봉이 없는 RC보가 받는 하중과 강봉 자체가 받는 하중의 합과 같다고 가정한 것이다. 추가로 강봉에 의해 발생하는 축력과 강봉에 주어진 프리스트레스트에 대하여 고려를 하였다. 실험 결과와 이론해석의 결과값을 비교하여 단순누가산정 방법은 고장력 인장봉에 의해 보강된 RC보의 비선형 휨거동을 예측함에 있어서 비교적 정확한 상관관계를 보여주고 있다.

Investigation of continuous and discontinuous contact cases in the contact mechanics of graded materials using analytical method and FEM

  • The aim of this paper was to examine the continuous and discontinuous contact problems between the functionally graded (FG) layer pressed with a uniformly distributed load and homogeneous half plane using an analytical method and FEM. The FG layer is made of non-homogeneous material with an isotropic stress-strain law with exponentially varying properties. It is assumed that the contact at the FG layer-half plane interface is frictionless, and only the normal tractions can be transmitted along the contacted regions. The body force of the FG layer is considered in the study. The FG layer was positioned on the homogeneous half plane without any bonds. Thus, if the external load was smaller than a certain critical value, the contact between the FG layer and half plane would be continuous. However, when the external load exceeded the critical value, there was a separation between the FG layer and half plane on the finite region, as discontinuous contact. Therefore, there have been some steps taken in this study. Firstly, an analytical solution for continuous and discontinuous contact cases of the problem has been realized using the theory of elasticity and Fourier integral transform techniques. Then, the problem modeled and two-dimensional analysis was carried out by using ANSYS package program based on FEM. Numerical results for initial separation distance and contact stress distributions between the FG layer and homogeneous half plane for continuous contact case; the start and end points of separation and contact stress distributions between the FG layer and homogeneous half plane for discontinuous contact case were provided for various dimensionless quantities including material inhomogeneity, distributed load width, the shear module ratio and load factor for both methods. The results obtained using FEM were compared with the results found using analytical formulation. It was found that the results obtained from analytical formulation were in perfect agreement with the FEM study.

  • An analytical fracture mechanics approach was used to investigate the fracture behavior of reinforced concrete beams. By use of this approach based on fracture mechanics concepts, the crack width and length as well as the strength and cracking stability of reinforced concrete beams were investigated. The results obtained from the analytical studies were also discussed in terms of the minimum reinforcement ratio and crack width specified in design code provisions. The analytical approach based on fracture mechanics concepts are very useful to predict the fracture behavior of reinforced concrete beams.

  • This paper presents the confinement effect of transverse reinforcement and cross-tie in hollow rectangular sectional columns. 20 analytical models with different amounts of transverse reinforcement and cross-tie in a plastic hinge region were analyzed by 3D nonlinear FEM. The analytical results show that the higher ductility can be achieved by the resonable combination of transverse re-bar and cross-tie providing sufficient lateral confinement.

  • In this study, the experimental results were simulated by using a nonlinear analysis programs IDARC 2D and RUAUMOKO 2D. These programs use a global Takeda-like model. The objectives of this study is to verify the correlation between the experimental and analytical responses of reinforced concrete (RC) frame and to provide the calibration to the available static inelastic analysis techniques. The evaluation of the accuracy of analytical simulation by IDARC 2D and RUAUMOKO 2D leads to the conclusion that the global behaviors can be, in general, simulated with limited accuracy in the linear analysis as detailing.

  • Analytical techniques for use with reconnaissance frame photographs are outlined. The first approach is a point-by-point space resection in which the dynamic properties of the camera are taken into account. In the second approach appropriate parameters are added to correct for image distoritions, caused by the focal plane shutter, during the space resection phase. Test results showed that the analytical techniques developed will significantly improve the planimetric and height accuracy obtained by conventional methods.
