Evaluating Special Library Service Quality using Importance-Performance Analysis (중요도-수행분석을 이용한 전문도서관 서비스 평가)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the service quality of special libraries using Importance-Performance Analysis (IPA) method. This study also applied the working year factor to IPA model for establishing more improved library service strategies. A total 127 library users who work in governmental policy or research institutions in South Korea participated in this study. This study conducted regression analysis to compare with the results of IPA. The results of survey revealed that special library users had high expectation for library services, but they perceived the performance of the library service as insufficient. Special library users assessed that the information services of libraries were well provided but required additional efforts in services related with space and provided by librarian. Interestingly, when the library services were measured by working years, special library users who have worked for more than eight years were generally satisfied with library services with no "possible overkill" services, but users with less than three years working experience particularly expressed dissatisfaction with the service provided by librarians. The results of regression analysis supported the results of IPA. Finally, this study provides several important suggestions for better special library service.

Measurement of a Customer Satisfaction Index for Improvement of Mobile RFID Services in Korea

  • One of the ubiquitous technology fields that have received the most attention recently from technology communities worldwide is mobile radio frequency identification (RFID). Mobile handsets loaded with RFID readers enable the identification and retrieval of information on RFID tagged objects. In Korea, a variety of mobile RFID services are currently being piloted, and their commercial roll-out looks imminent. The goal of this study is to propose, ahead of the commercial launch of mobile RFID services, a customer satisfaction index (CSI) model for this service category and to then measure the CSI to derive practical implications for their providers and pointers related to the improvement of service. A web survey was conducted on Korean mobile phone subscribers who had participated in a mobile RFID pilot program. Using the results of this survey, we tested the CSI model and its hypotheses by employing a partial least-squares-based structural equation model analysis and calculated the index. We further conducted an importance-performance analysis in order to provide insights that may be useful for improving the quality of mobile RFID services.

  • In this study, an integrated economic analysis model to analyze the new telecommunication services is developed. This model considers both the technological and managerial aspests altogether with respect to the profit and public benefit criteria. To encounter the various dynamically changing environments and evaluation criteria, multiple criteria decision making (MCDM)techniques are employed. The model consists of three stages; The first stage surveys related formal or informal data, generates analysis alternatives, and performs acceptabillty test in view of marketing. The second stage generates executive alternatives for each acceptable analysis alternative and checks the executionability in view of telecommunication technologies. The third stage performs the final integrated economic analysis including the profitability analysis. This study offers a basis for the future development of decision support system or expert system on the economic analysis of the new telecommunication services.

  • Service identification and composition is one of the key characteristics for a successful Service-Oriented Computing, being receiving a lot of attention from researchers in recent years. In the Service-Oriented Analysis, the identification of business services has to be preceded before application services are identified. Most approaches addressing the derivation of business services are based on heuristic methods and human experts. The manual identification of business services is highly expensive and ambiguous task, and it may result in the service design with bad quality because of errors and misconception. Although a few of approaches of automatic service identification are proposed, most of them are in focus on technical architectures and application services. In this paper, we propose a model on the automatic identification of business services by horizontal and vertical service alignment using Enterprise Architecture as an ontology. We verify the effectiveness of the proposed model of business services identification through a case study based on Department of Defense Enterprise Architecture.

Categorizing Sub-Categories of Mobile Application Services using Network Analysis: A Case of Healthcare Applications (네트워크 분석을 이용한 애플리케이션 서비스 하위 카테고리 분류: 헬스케어 어플리케이션 중심으로)

  • Due to the explosive growth of mobile application services, categorizing mobile application services is in need in practice from both customers' and developers' perspectives. Despite the fact, however, there have been limited studies regarding systematic categorization of mobile application services. In response, this study proposed a method for categorizing mobile application services, and suggested a service taxonomy based on the network clustering results. Total of 1,607 mobile healthcare services are collected through the Google Play store. The network analysis is conducted based on the similarity of descriptions in each application service. Modularity detection analysis is conducted to detects communities in the network, and service taxonomy is derived based on each cluster. This study is expected to provide a systematic approach to the service categorization, which is helpful to both customers who want to navigate mobile application service in a systematic manner and developers who desire to analyze the trend of mobile application services.

Understanding Big Data and Utilizing its Analysis into Library and Information Services (빅데이터의 이해와 도서관 정보서비스에의 활용)

  • This study revisits issues for Big data. Three research questions, understanding the concept of Big data, important issues of Big data research and utilization methods for library information services, are explored by the literature and practice reviews. Study results revealed several important issues of Big data including the concept in the context of real world situation, the problems with the accuracy and reliability of the data, privacy and ethical issues, and issues of intellectual property rights. With understanding these issues, a few utilization methods were introduced for Library and Information services. It was included using its analysis for developing vision, adopting Library management, supporting community services, and providing customized information services for various users. The study concluded Big data analysis would effectively provide valid evidences for all those services.

Analysis of Keyword Trend for ICT Convergence Services (ICT 융합 서비스의 키워드 트렌드 분석)

  • With ubiquitous computing and network, the concern of government, business and academy for IT or ICT convergence has been increased. In this paper, through the analysis of keyword trend for ICT convergence services from 2000's mid, the efficient policy is proposed by estimating the understanding and concern of common people. In addition to, the concept and development step of convergence are analyzed, and the keyword analysis for the ICT convergence services defined in TTA is performed. The services are classified into smart home work transportation, Health ICT, RFID USN, M2M IoT, e-Navigation, intelligent robot, and the keywords for each service are analyzed. The analytic results indicate that the keyword trend varies in the time, and highly indexing keywords and new trend are defined. To provide the efficient ICT services, the new ICT convergence services needed for customer will be proposed with new IT technology development, IT standard, law management, and policy provisioining.

Demand Analysis of the home ubiquitous network services using conjoint method (컨조인트 분석방법을 이용한 홈 유비퀴터스 네트워크 서비스의 수요 분석)

  • Home networks consist of two or more home appliances or communication devices enabling the mutual data communication between appliances such as personal computers, refrigerators, phones, television sets, personal digital assistants(PDA), etc. There are three factors that create demand for the home network services. The first factor is development of technology. Second, on the demand side, consumer demand for the home appliances having access to the Internet is in the increase. Finally, producers need a strategy to deal with the problem of market saturation. Home networks are emerging markets. They are unique in that they unite information technologies with home appliances that provide new services. in this paper we study the main attributes of home network services and analyze consumers' preferences for them. However, it is not quite possible to use the revealed preference approach since the home network market is still at an incipient stage. We therefore use the conjoint analysis method using stated preference data. conjoint analysis has been widely use in the area of marketing for evaluating consumer preferences for new products and services. it presents a hypothetical product to the respondents along with the product's attributes and their levels. The respondents are asked to either rank each alternative or choose between several hypothetical products. By estimating consumers' willingness to pay for the attributes of the home network services and analyzing consumers' preferences, we predict the pattern of the development of the home network services and related technologies along various quality dimensions. Based on the estimation results, we draw policy implications for the national- and company-level strategy.

  • Recently, the introduction of Cloud Managing Security Services System to respond to security threats in cloud computing environments is increasing. Accordingly, it is necessary to analyze the security requirements for the Cloud Managing Security Services System. However, the existing research has a problem that does not reflect the virtual environment of the cloud and the data flow of the Cloud Managing Security Services System in the process of deriving the requirements. To solve this problem, it is necessary to identify the information assets of the Cloud Managing Security Services System in the process of threat modeling analysis, visualize and display detailed components of the cloud virtual environment, and analyze the security threat by reflecting the data flow. Therefore, this paper intends to derive the security requirements of the Cloud Managing Security Services System through threat modeling analysis that is an improved existing research.

Consumer Experience and Adoption Intention of Internet of Things Services: The Impact of Network Externalities (소비자의 사물인터넷 서비스 경험과 수용의도 : 네트워크 외부성을 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study is to enhance the understanding of consumer experience and behavior of Internet of Things (IoT) services and to provide practical implications through investigating the impact of benefits-cost factors and network externalities on consumers' adoption intention of IoT services. An online survey was conducted on general consumers in their 20s to 60s who were aware of the IoT services and 328 data were collected. Using SPSS 24.0, frequency analysis, correlation analysis, factor analysis, and hierarchical regression analysis were conducted. As a result, the level of consumers' IoT service experience in various contexts was examined, and entertainment, informativeness, loss of humanity, compatibility, and complementarity were found to have a significant effect on consumers' adoption intention of IoT services. This study suggests that strengthening network externality effects by increasing compatibility and complementarity is important in promoting consumers' adoption of IoT services. In future studies, it is necessary to adopt specific Internet of Things services to verify the validity of the models developed in this study.
