Objective : To build a basis of patent analysis for development of Korean ginseng as a competitive medical product in the world market. Methods : Survey of all patents related to ginseng or ginseng products in Korea and other rival countries such as the USA, Japan or EU, using KIPRIS. Results : Korea has more patents of ginseng itself , however has fewer patents related to functional goods, higher value-added businesses or medical technologies using ginseng than rival countries. Conclusion : The Oriental medical world should make more effort to verify the pharmacological effects of ginseng, develop high value-added functional products or medical technologies using ginseng and apply for more patents in such fields.

There are several methods for the hydrogen production such as steam reforming of natural gas, photocatalytic method, biological method, electrolysis and thermochemical method, etc. These days it has been widely studying for the hydrogen production method having low hydrogen production cost and high efficiency. In this paper, patents in the hydrogen production by water electrolysis were gathered and analyzed. The search range was limited in the open patents of USA(US), European Union(EP), Japan(JP), and Korea(KR) from 1996 to 2005. Patents were gathered by using key-words searching and filtered by filtering criteria. The trends of the patents was analyzed by the years, countries, companies, and technologies.

There are several methods for the gas hydrate production such as spraying water with countercurrent gas flow, stirring water-gas mixture, and flowing water with micro-bubble, etc. These days it has been widely studied for the gas hydrate production method, having low energy consumption and high efficiency. In this paper, patents in the gas hydrate production method were gathered and analyzed. The search range was limited to the open patents of USA, European Union (EP), Japan (JP), and Korea (KR) from 1991 to 2007. Patents were gathered by using keywords searching and filtered by crucial criteria. The trends of the patents were analyzed by the years, countries, companies, and technologies.

The trends of patents related to natural dyeing were examined in order to guide the development of natural dyeing into a high value-added technology. Total 181 patents data provided from KISTI were analyzed and following results were drawn. Korea had the overwhelming number of patents related to natural dyeing over Japan or United States of America from 1970 to 2007. In case of domestic, the number of patent applications were heavily focused on the metropolitan area in 1990's, but started to increase in the Honam region and Youngnam region in the first half of the year 2000 which indicated that the researches and the developments of natural dyeing were very active. In the case of foreign countries, most of their patent applications comes from the corporation such as a company while the number of patents applications from individuals overwhelms that of corporation in South Korea. Also, more of individuals' patent applications were denied than corporations' patents applications. The vegetable dye, a type of dyestuff which is a research subject for patent application, had the most research done above all other dyestuff.

국내에서 출원되는 특허건수는 매년 증가하고 있으나, 이러한 특허들 중 상당수는 활용되지 못하고 사장되고 있다. 2012년 국정감사 자료에 따르면, 우리나라 대학 및 공공연구기관이 보유한 특허의 약 73%가 사회적 가치창출로 연결되지 못하는 휴면특허라고 한다. 즉, 대학/연구소 또는 사업화가 어려운 개인이 소유하고 있는 특허가, 이를 필요로 하는 수요기업에 성공적으로 기술 이전되지 못하는 것을 휴면특허 증가의 주요 문제점으로 생각할 수 있다. 본 연구는 급격히 축적되는 방대한 특허 자원들 속에서, 기업의 관심분야에 적합한 지식재산을, 보다 쉽고, 효과적으로 선별할 수 있도록 하는 소셜태깅 기반의 특허 추천플랫폼을 제안한다. 제안된 시스템은 기존 특허들로부터 핵심적인 내용 및 기술 분야를 추출하여 초기 추천을 수행하고, 이후 사용자들의 태그정보가 축적되면, 사회적 지식 (social knowledge)을 추천에 함께 반영하게 된다. 이러한 연구에는 특허청에서 운영하고 있는 KIPRIS(Korea Industrial Property Rights Information Service) 시스템에서 실제 특허자료 총 1638건을 수집한 후, 현재 특허 데이터에는 존재하지 않는 가상의 태그 정보를 추가한 반가상(semi-virtual) 데이터를 구성하여 활용하였다. 제안된 시스템은 프로그래밍 언어 JAVA를 활용하여 핵심 알고리즘을 구현하였으며, 그래픽사용자 인터페이스(Graphic User Interface)에 대한 프로토타입의 설계를 수행하였다. 또한, 시나리오테스트 방식으로 시스템의 운영타당성 및 추천 효과성을 확인하였다.

본 연구는 국내 광산업 기술지식 창출의 공간구조를 살펴보는데 목적을 둔다. 지식창출의 대리지표로서 특허데이터를 활용하였으며, 키워드를 이용하여 1996${\sim}$2007년 사이에 출원된 광산업 등록특허를 대상으로 했다. 미국특허상표청에 등록된 광산업 특허는 한국이 대만과 더불어 광산업 분야의 후발주자로서 급속히 성장하고 있음을 보여주었다. 한국특허청에 등록된 광산업 특허는 단독특허와 공동특허로 구분하여 살펴보았다. 단독특허의 경우, 광산업 기술지식이 서울, 수원, 대전에 상당히 편중되어 창출되고 있지만 편중 정도는 점차 완화되고 있음을 보여주었다. 공동특허의 경우도 상기된 지역들이 대체로 중심적인 위치를 차지하지만, 지역 간 군집과 연결 양상은 시기별로 상이했다. 공동특허에 참여하는 주체가 다양해진데 기인하며 정보통신 인프라 개선, 광산업 육성, 산학 협력 촉진과 같은 정책적 영향이 주요했던 것으로 보인다.

This paper proposes an approach to analyzing the relationship between technology and services, and to identifying promising service areas for technology-based firms with the analysis of business model (BM) patents. First, BM patents and technology patents are collected and classified into their relevant categories, respectively. Second, patent citation analysis is conducted to analyze the linkage and impacts between each technology and service field at macro level. Third, as a micro level analysis, patent co-classification analysis is employed to identify the interrelationships among specific technology and service areas. Finally, the promising service areas for technology-based firms seeking service areas for diversification is investigated with portfolio analysis. The working of the proposed approach is provided with the help of a case study of IT and mobile services. The proposed approach could guide and help managers of technology-based firms to discover the opportunity of the diversification to new areas in emerging service fields.

Although the business model(BM) patents act as a creative bridge between technology and the marketplace, limited scholarly attention has been paid to the content analysis of BM patents. This study aims to contextualize converging BM patents by employing topic modeling technique and clustering highly marketable topics, which are expressed through a topic-market impact matrix. We relied on BM patent data filed between 2010 and 2022 to derive empirical insights into the commercial potential of emerging business models. Subsequently, nine topics were identified, including but not limited to "Data Analytics and Predictive Modeling" and "Mobile-Based Digital Services and Advertising." The 2x2 matrix allows to position topics based on the variables of topic growth rate and market impact, which is useful for prioritizing areas that require attention or are promising. This study differentiates itself by going beyond simple topic classification based on topic modeling, reorganizing the findings into a matrix format. T he results of this study are expected to serve as a valuable reference for companies seeking to innovate their business models and enhance their competitive positioning.

본 연구는 기업의 지식재산 전유방법 중 특허와 영업비밀의 상호관계를 '기업혁신조사' 자료를 활용하여 실증분석하였다. 다수의 선행 이론연구에서는 특허와 영업비밀 활용을 상호대체적인 관계로 가정하여 논의되어 왔다. 그러나 특허와 영업비밀의 활용은 다양한 기업 및 혁신특성에 따라 상호보완적 및 상호대체적으로 활용될 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 기업 산업 혁신 특성 통제 후 기업의 특허와 영업비밀 선택에 대한 상호관계를 2005, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2014년 횡단면 자료를 활용하여 분석하였다. 분석결과 2010년 이전에는 특허와 영업비밀이 상호보완적으로 활용되는 것으로 나타난 반면, 2014년 자료에서는 특허와 영업비밀이 상호독립적으로 활용되는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 분석결과가 2012년 이후 조사방식의 변화로 인해 나타났을 가능성을 배제할 수가 없어 추가적인 분석을 하였고, 설문조사 차이점의 영향을 완전히 배제할 수는 없지만, 최근 나타난 특허와 영업비밀 활용 선택의 상호독립적인 결과는 2010년 이후 늘어난 특허출원 건수 및 기업들이 다른 전유방법들 보다 특허활용에 보다 중점을 둔 것이 원인일 수 있음을 보였다.
