기업별 핵심기술 탐색을 위한 특허의 동시분류 네트워크 분석: 폴더블 디스플레이 분야에 대한 적용 (An Analysis of Patent Co-Classification Network for Exploring Core Technologies of Firms: An Application to the Foldable Display Sector)

  • 글로벌 폴더블 디스플레이 시장은 최근 업체들 간 치열한 경쟁이 벌어지고 있어, 정확한 기술 동향 분석을 통한 전략적 기술기획이 요구되고 있다. 기술기획을 위한 분석 방법으로서의 특허분석은 그 개방성, 정형성, 기술에 대한 상세정보 등의 데이터 특성으로 인해 현장에서 자주 활용되고 있다. 그런데 이 가운데 정성분석은 특허의 내용을 건별로 파악하여야 하는 관계로 시간과 비용의 문제가 발생하며, 전통적인 정량분석은 주로 특허의 수에 의존함으로써 특허의 내용 및 기업별 핵심기술을 파악하는 데 한계가 존재한다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 특허의 동시분류 네크워크 분석 방법을 활용하여 기업별 핵심기술을 분석해 보고자 하였다. 분석 결과, 폴더블 디스플레이 관련 특허 출원은 2014년부터 급격히 성장하여 출원 기업의 92%가 한국의 2개 패널 제조사(SDC 및 LGD)와 2개 세트 제조사(SEC 및 LGE)의 출원으로 확인되었다. 동시분류 네트워크를 분석해 본 결과, 패널 제조사인 SDC와 LGD는 핵심기술 분야가 서로 유사한 반면, 세트 제조사인 SEC와 LGE는 눈에 띄는 차별성이 존재함을 확인하였다. 이러한 결과는 본 분야 기업의 기술전략에 대한 시사점을 제공한다. 또한 특허 동시분류 네트워크를 통해서만 확인이 가능한 것으로, 이 분석이 기업 기술전략에 유용하게 활용될 수 있음을 확인하였다.

Analysis of Technical Trend of Electric Agricultural Field Machinery

  • As basic research to develop HEV and EV agricultural field machinery, the present study analyzes the technical trend of electric agricultural field machinery through product analysis, paper analysis, and patent analysis concerning HEV and EV in the automobile, construction machinery, and agricultural machinery sectors. For product analysis, the homepages of companies in these sectors were consulted to analyze the number of products of each company. For paper analysis, key words related to HEV and EV were selected, a search formula was drawn up, and articles search sites were consulted. And for patent analysis too, key words were selected and then a search formula was drawn up to examine published patent applications or registered patent applications, and trends were analyzed by structure, country, and year. The number of HEV and EV products were 17 in the automobile area, 8 in construction machinery, and 4 in agricultural machinery. Notably, in the agricultural machinery area, all HEV and EV products were from advanced companies overseas. In terms of papers, papers published in the past 5 years were searched and 33,195 papers were from the automobile area, 3,806 were from construction machinery, and 2,687, the fewest papers, were from the agricultural machinery area. A search of patents in the electric drive technology area in Korea, USA, and Japan, and Europe showed 1,927 valid patents, with 1,120 in Japan, 497 in USA, 193 in Korea, and 117 in Europe. Analysis of the trend of research on electric agricultural field machinery by product, paper, and patent shows the development of HEV and EV technology in Korea is insufficient compared to USA, Japan, and Europe, which means rapid technological development is needed.

농업분야에 적용이 가능한 산업용 ICT 융합 개인보호 및 편이장비 특허동향 분석 (Analysis of Patent Trends in Industrial Information and Communication Technology Convergence: Personal Protection and Convenience Equipment Applicable to Agriculture)

  • This study identified technological trends through an analysis of patents for the industrialization of personal protection and convenience equipment using information and communication technology (ICT) as a part of efforts to prevent farm work-related disasters. The analysis was conducted on patents registered and published between January 1974 and May 2016 by the world's five largest intellectual property offices, including the KIPO, USPTO, JPO, EPO, and SIPO. The results of the analysis indicate that the US (36.8%) and South Korea (30.9%) led technological research and development (R&D) with frequent patent applications. An analysis of the technological market revealed that these countries are in the growth and maturity stages, in which the number of patents and number of patent applicants grow rapidly. In terms of the technological market shares of major countries, the US recorded the highest market shares in the field of sensing systems for workers' dangerous conditions and convenience protection equipment based on the internet of things (IoT) convergence. South Korea marked the highest share of 41.8% in the field of sensing devices for dangerous conditions in the working environment. An analysis of the trend of patent applications by specific technologies disclosed the following results: sensing systems for workers' dangerous conditions accounted for the highest share (49.2%), followed by IoT convergence-based convenience protection equipment (26.3%) and sensing devices for dangerous conditions in the working environment (24.6%). Based on this study, ICT-based personal protection and convenience equipment technologies are expected to be actively developed in the future. It will be necessary to secure national competitiveness through R&D investments and commercialization in personal protection and convenience equipment appropriate for farm work as well as through the acquisition of patent technologies and intellectual property rights.

UAV 핵심 기술 특허분석을 통한 기술 및 한국의 경쟁력 분석 (Technology and Korea's Competitiveness Analysis through UAV Patent Analysis)

  • 본 논문에서는 항공 ICT분야에서 최근 이슈가 되고 있는 UAV(Unmanned Aerial Vehicle)에 대한 효율적인 연구 개발 전략 수립을 위하여 특허분석을 기반으로 기술의 메가트렌드 및 경쟁력 분석 결과를 제시한다. UAV 핵심 기술의 메가트렌드 분석을 위해 한국, 미국, 일본 및 유럽의 공개/등록 특허를 중심으로 특허 동향을 분석하였다. 분석 대상 기술은 UAV와 ICT기술이 융합이 되는 기술을 중심으로 3개의 소분류로 구분하였으며, 특허검색 결과 총 3,433건이 검색되었다. UAV 핵심 기술별 경쟁력 및 한국의 경쟁력을 분석하기 위하여 특허 활동력, 특허 피인용률 및 주요 시장 확보율을 분석 지표로 사용하였다. 각 핵심 기술에 대한 R&D 전략 영역을 제시하고 이를 기반으로 각 영역별 연구개발 전략을 제시하였다. 본 논문을 통해 우리나라의 기술 수준, 선진 기업의 연구 개발동향 및 핵심특허 현황 등을 객관적인 특허정보를 기반으로 분석하였으며, 향후 UAV 분야의 연구개발 및 특허 확보 전략 수립에 활용이 될 것으로 기대 한다.

한국특허정보의 통계분석에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Statistical Analysis of Korea Patent Information)

  • 지금까지 특허분석에 관한 연구는 특허지도(Patent Map; PM)분석을 수행하여 기술동향을 분석하고 있으나, 주제에 대한 검색결과를 엑셀 등을 이용하여 그래프화하여 출원빈도에 대한 추이를 나타내는 것이 대부분이다. 이러한 분석은 특정주제에 대한 것으로 국가의 산업이나 국제적인 산업의 동향을 직접 비교 분석하기에는 미흡한 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 PM분석의 신뢰성을 높이기 위해 통계분석의 필요성을 제시하고, 1990년부터 2004년에 출원된(출원번호 기준) 한국특허 전체를 대상으로 연도별, 분류별(IPC Section 분류)로 각 국가(한국, 미국, 일본, 독일)의 출원빈도를 통계적으로 유의한 수준을 분석하였다. 또한 국가 및 기술 분류에 대한 출원빈도에 대해 포아송 회귀분석을 수행하고, 통계 적으로 유의한 수준에 따른 평가를 R&D에 활용할 수 있도록 하였다.

닥나무 부산물에 대한 문헌 연구 (Analysis of studies on the by-products of the Broussonetia kazinoki Siebold or Broussonetia papyrifera (L.) Vent.)

  • Objective : To provide information about the accessory product of Broussonetia kazinoki Siebold or Broussonetia papyrifera (L.) Vent by analyzing old books of oriental medicine, domestic/international papers and related patents Methods : Old books related to the accessory product in the field of oriental medicine were reviewed. Research papers regarding the pharmacological activity of the by-products were reviewed and analyzed. Patents about the residual products were examined and classified by year and subject Results : Seven kinds of by-products from Broussonetia kazinoki Siebold or Broussonetia papyrifera (L.) Vent has been used as medicines in oriental medicine. Recently, anti-oxidating, anti-cancer, anti-mutagenic and anti-inflammation activity of the residual product of these plants has been investigated through scientific research. There were 19 patents related with the accessory products of these plants, which were in the subjects of functional cosmetics, anti-inflammation, cleansing goods, hair restorers or improvement of learning ability. Further investigations about the activity of these plants are needed in bone metabolism, water balance and hemostasis in the future. Conclusion : Residual products from these plants is being used in various ways. However, more studies on the efficacy and mechanism, as well as safety, of these plants should be conducted precisely in the future.

Fifty Years of Innovation in Plastic Surgery

  • Background Innovation has molded the current landscape of plastic surgery. However, documentation of this process only exists scattered throughout the literature as individual articles. The few attempts made to profile innovation in plastic surgery have been narrative, and therefore qualitative and inherently biased. Through the implementation of a novel innovation metric, this work aims to identify and characterise the most prevalent innovations in plastic surgery over the last 50 years. Methods Patents and publications related to plastic surgery (1960 to 2010) were retrieved from patent and MEDLINE databases, respectively. The most active patent codes were identified and grouped into technology areas, which were subsequently plotted graphically against publication data. Expert-derived technologies outside of the top performing patents areas were additionally explored. Results Between 1960 and 2010, 4,651 patents and 43,118 publications related to plastic surgery were identified. The most active patent codes were grouped under reconstructive prostheses, implants, instruments, non-invasive techniques, and tissue engineering. Of these areas and other expert-derived technologies, those currently undergoing growth include surgical instruments, implants, non-invasive practices, transplantation and breast surgery. Innovations related to microvascular surgery, liposuction, tissue engineering, lasers and prostheses have all plateaued. Conclusions The application of a novel metric for evaluating innovation quantitatively outlines the natural history of technologies fundamental to the evolution of plastic surgery. Analysis of current innovation trends provides some insight into which technology domains are the most active.

특허문헌의 IPC 코드 분석에 의한 사물인터넷 분야 교육과정에 관한 연구 (Curriculum of IoT by IPC Code Analysis of Patents)

  • 본 연구는 사물인터넷 관련 특허의 대표 기술을 분석한 후 이를 교육과정에 반영하기 위한 연구이다. 대표 기술을 파악하기 위해 특허문헌의 IPC 코드를 분석하였다. 단독 기술 특허에서 가장 많이 사용된 IPC 코드는 H04L로 974건(32.0%)이고, 복합 기술 특허의 경우 G06Q 710건(29.2%), H04L 396건(16.3%) 순이다. IPC 코드 분석 결과를 WIPO 기술 분류체계에 적용한 결과 단독 기술 특허에서 가장 강조되는 기술은 디지털 통신으로 약 60.5%에 이른다. 복합기술 특허에서 가장 강조되는 기술은 IT경영시스템(710건, 29.2%)과 디지털 통신(589건, 24.2%) 순이다. 본 연구를 통해 사물인터넷 교육과정 편성 및 운영시 고려해야 할 주요사항은 ∇디지털 통신 기술의 강조, ∇IT경영시스템 관련 교육의 확대(창업교육 및 특허 출원 포함), ∇사물인터넷의 확장과 융합 관련 교과목의 반영 등이다. 본 연구 방법은 인공지능과 핀테크 등 최근 대두되는 신산업 신기술 분야의 교육과정 설계 등에 기여할 수 있다.

미국 특허분석으로 보는 장내 미생물 기술 발전 현황 - 한의학 연구 및 한의약 기술 발전에 주는 시사점 - (Using US Patent Analysis to Monitor the Technological Trend in the Field of Gastrointestinal Microbiome - Implications on Korean Medicine Research and Development -)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to provide direction for future research in the field of Korean medicine by analyzing microbiome based technologies emerging as a new diagnostic and treatment paradigm. Methods: To achieve the purpose of the study intellectual property data was used. After establishing citation network from registered microbiome-related US patents, citation network was analyzed by knowledge persistence-based main path approach to understanding technological trajectories. Furthermore, community detection algorithms were used to quantitatively identifying specific technological domain in a particular time period. Results: Results shows that early technologies in livestock industry contribute most to the recent patents. Knowledge in the patents flow through the path of food and beverage technological domain, and finally are inherited to the recent development of diagnosis, treatment and prevention technic. Conclusions: This study indicate that developing diagnostic tools which can link the composition of microbiome to specific diseases should be given high priority. Researches should lead to novel therapeutic strategies. Specifically, improving reliability of pattern identification and finding effective therapeutic compositions based on principles of Korean medicine is necessary.

패널구조방정식을 활용한 IT기업의 R&D투자효과 연구: 특허 매개효과 중심으로 (R&D Investment Effect through Patent on IT firms using Panel Structural Equations)

  • This study analyzes not only the direct impact of R&D investment on corporate growth for 578 private firms in 2007-2016, but also whether corporate innovation activities play a role as a mediating parameter between R&D investment and corporate growth. For this purpose, we classify companies into IT and non-IT companies and measure the mediating effect by dividing innovation activities into the number of registered patents, applied patents, and sum of them. In addition, this study is based on both the systemGMM which is considered to be effective in solving the endogenous problems caused by the cross-sectional analysis in previous studies and ML-SEM which is a new method recently, and then compares two results. According to the empirical results, innovation activities has a role as partly mediating parameter on sales growth in non-IT companies. On the other hands, in IT companies, the increase in R&D investment leads to a decrease in sales of the company, and the increase in innovation activities increases the sales of the company. However, it was confirmed that IT companies also had positive effects by adjusting the lag of the R&D. In other words, this suggests that securing patents is more important than R&D investment for direct sales growth of IT companies. It is also evidence that immediate introduction of technology is necessary to respond to the speed of technological change since the cycle time of technologies of the IT field is relatively shorter compared to that of other fields.
