This study was performed to analyze the item characteristics of competency inventory for designer (CID), which Gil (2011) developed for measurement of design competency. To accomplish the purpose of this study, general partial credit (GPC) model based on polytomous item response theory was applied. The findings were as follows: First, CID is a reliable instrument for measuring design competency. Second, most items of CID have low item discrimination and average item difficulty according to the GPC model. Especially, there are some problems to have low item discrimination in view of validation. To improve the goodness of CID, we will need to examine why CID has low item discrimination.

The transaction tables of the existing association algorithms have two column attributes : It is composed of transaction identifier (Transaction_id) and an item identifier (item). In this kind of structure, as the volume of data becomes larger, the performance for the SQL query statements came applicable decreases. Therefore, we propose advanced association rules algorithm of n-items which can transact multiple items (Transaction_id, Item 1, Item 2…, Item n). In this structure, performance hours can be contracted more than the single item structures, because count can be computed by query of the input transaction tables. Our experimental results indicate that performance of the n items structure is up to 2 times better than the single item. As a result of this paper, the proposed algorithm can be applied to internet shopping, searching engine and etc.
The purpose of this research was to supplement the preceding study and to examine the feasibility of standardizing the Bayley Scales of Infant Development (BSID) for Korean infants. The subjects of this research were 93 healthy infants at 1-12 months of age living in Seoul. Seventy were the same infants as the subjects of the preceding research. Statistical analysis of the results was done by Item analysis and scalogram analysis using Green's method. The scalability of the BSID for Korean infants was .78 on the mental scale and .8l on the motor scale. Item order by counting positive responses was slightly different from the original BSID item order. On the feasibility of standardization of the BSID in Korea, the results showed that: 1) The BSID is scalable for Korean infant development, and 2) The BSID needs correction in item rank order.

The purpose of this study is to determine the patterns of differences between genders in science achievement. Eleventh grade, 140 female and male students were sampled from a school in Seoul. According to the analysis results of pilot study, 20 items were finally selected for the main study. To sharpen our interpretations of the factors and provide some confirmation, we supplemented the statistical analysis with a more detailed cognitive study of the items using think-aloud protocols and interviews with student test takers. The analysis of this study took into account the different item formats, contexts, and presentation styles. The findings are as follows: First, there was no significant gender difference between multiple-choice and open-ended items. Second, male students achieved significantly better in the context of everyday life in multiple-choice items. Third, male students favored items presented as written texts. Fourth, in problem-solving process, female students tend to apply their science concepts, whereas male students tend to apply their everyday experiences. The results of this investigation indicate that gender difference in science achievement depends heavily on item characteristics.
This study shows how the lifestyle of Housewife as well as usual socio-economic variables affect the expenditure of urban household. The Result of Factor Analysis revealed that the lifestyle of urban housewives were composed by four different traits. 1) self-improvement and rational trait 2) consumption-oriented convenience seeking trait 3) traditional-conservation trait 4) money-oriented variety seeking trait. Based on the Multiple regression analysis the analysis of the relative influence of variables which were associated with the expenditure of each item showed that influential variables for each item were different but economic variables(e, g , income saving, property etc) affected on most of expenditure. Socio-economic variables were more influential than lifestyle variables for every item. But lifestyle variables were influential the same as Socio-economic variables for unnecessary expenditure item more than necessary items particularly consumption-oriented convenience eeking trait and money-oriented variety seeking trait affected.
The purpose of this study was to review existing assessment tools for patients with low back pain and improve them through combination. A total of 314 patients with low back pain participated. Their condition was assessed using the Oswestry Disability Questionnaire (ODQ), the Quebec Back Pain Disability Scale (QBPD), and the Back Pain Functional Scale (BPFS). Rasch analysis was applied to identify inappropriate items, item difficulties, and the separation index. In this study, the 'sex life' item of the ODQ (10 items) and the 'sleeping' item of the BPFS (12 items) showed misfit statistics, whereas all items of the QBPD (20 items) were appropriate. After combining the ODQ, QBPD and BPFS, Rasch analysis was applied. The 'pain intensity', and the 'sex life' item of the ODQ and the 'throw a ball' item of QBPD showed misfit statistics. These 3 items were retained for further analysis. The remaining 42 combined ODQ-QBPD-BPFS items were arranged according to difficulty. For all subjects, the most difficult item was 'pain intensity', whereas the easiest was 'take food out of the refrigerator'. As the separation index of 42 combined ODQ-QBPD-BPFS was higher than that of the three questionnaires separately, difficulty of items varied with some need for rearrangement. The results of this study confirmed the possibility and need for a new back pain disability assessment tool, and produced one. Further study is needed to refine the questionnaire in consideration of psychosocial and occupational factors.

As consumers' consumption activities become more active due to the activation of online shopping malls, companies are conducting item trend analyses to boost sales. The existing item trend analysis methods are analyzed by considering only the activities of users in online shopping mall services, making it difficult to identify trends for new items without purchasing history. In this paper, we propose a trend analysis method that combines data in online shopping mall services and social network data to analyze item trends in users and potential customers in shopping malls. The proposed method uses the user's activity logs for in-service data and utilizes hot topics through word set extraction from social network data set to reflect potential users' interests. Finally, the item trend change is detected over time by utilizing the item index and the number of mentions in the social network. We show the superiority of the proposed method through performance evaluations using social network data.

Background: The purpose of this study was to evaluate reliability and validity of a 27-item Korean Version of the Impact of Weight on Quality of Life in adolescents ($IWQOL-Kids^{(C)}$: Korean Version). Methods: This instrument was administered to 872 adolescents (mean z-BMI: 2.61, mean $age{\pm}SD$: $13.9{\pm}1.2$, male: 51.9%). Reliability was tested by internal consistency method and item analysis, validity test was performed by index of content validity, exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis and concurrent validity. Sensitivity was tested by ANOVA and t-test. Analyses were performed using SPSS and Amos 18.0. Results: By an exploratory factor analysis, 4 factors were extracted; 'Body esteem' consisted of 9 items with 35.9% of variance (social life: 6 items, 10.23%, physical comfort: 6 items, 8.21%, family relations: 6 items, 7.0%). Four factors explained 61.34% of total variance. Internal consistency coefficients ranged from .766 to .929 for scales on 27 items and equal to .920 for total score for both the 26-item and 27-item tools. A confirmatory factor analysis was conducted for the convergent validity and discriminant validity. The standardized factor loadings to test the convergent validity showed more than .5(C.R<1.965) on all paths after deletion of item PC1 (avoid stairs). The average variances extracted were more than .50 and the construct reliabilities were more than .70. The average variances extracted were stronger than the squares of correlation coefficient of inter-latent variables. Conclusions: These results support that the $IWQOL-Kids^{(C)}$: Korean Version with a 26-item is a reliable and valid tool in Korean obese adolescents.

The purpose of this study is to provide analysis resources to develop high standard questions by analyzing item characteristics and item usability of 'Basic course of Information Technology' in the College Scholastic Ability Test, For the qualitative research, this paper analyzed content validity. For the quantitative research, this paper analyzed item difficulty, item discrimination, item reliability, and distracters. As a result of analyzing tests in 2005 and 2006, questions were equally extracted from educational contents. However, the standard of questions were in need of revision. The development of high quality contents in Vocational Education Section was needed in order to meet to the College Scholastic Ability Test standards. Therefore, it is required to develop various difficulties and acceptable distinguishable questions.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the 1st and 2nd Korea Earth Science Olympiad (KESO) items, in order to find informations to enhance item quality. To do this, internal and external item classification frameworks are developed. Item difficulty (P), discrimination index (DI), correlation, and reliability are estimated by using classical test theory. Generalizability is also estimated by applying the generalizability theory. The results of item classification are as follows: (1) ‘Geology’, ‘astronomy’ and ‘data analysis and interpretation’ are dominant in content and inquiry process domain, respectively. Nearly every item has textbook context. (2) There is no difference between the preliminary and final tests in terms of their thinking skills sections. (3) As a whole, the ratio of items with pictures is high in item representation. However, multiple-choice and short answer items are more common in preliminary competition, and essay type items are found more often in final competition. The ratio of simple items is high in middle school section and preliminary competition, but composite items are dominant in high school section and final competition. The findings of item analysis are as follows: (1) In the middle school section, P is low and DI is moderate. But in the high school section, there is a considerable differences between science high schools and other high schools in general. (2) The highest correlation is reported between the scores of meteorology domain and total score in middle school, whereas in high school astronomy domain and total score show the highest correlation. (3) General high school section show the highest Cronbach $\alpha$ and generalizability. (4) General high school section show acceptable generalizability coefficient (> 0.80), but middle and science high school section should increase the number of items to reach acceptable generalizability level.
