  • The complex documentation involved in power system analysis software require a well-defined and friendly database system. We have developed an object-oriented database management system for power system analysis, and have described load flow analysis and transient stability analysis using object-oriented database(OODB). Database management systems are widely used and achieve high reliability of data management in the engineering fields. However relational database system have shortcomings in application to power system analysis. ill relational database, the data model is too simple for modeling complex data and database languages are very different from programming languages. Object-oriented techniques are sufficiently powerful to support data-modeling requirements of GUI applications. The GUI is implemented using C++ on a MS windows platform. The OODB supports data modeling requirements of GUI applications and the performance is well acceptable for Gill applications.

  • Engineering or humanities data are stored in databases and are often used for search services. While the latest deep-learning technologies, such like BART and BERT, are utilized for data analysis, humanities data still rely on traditional databases. Representative analysis methods include n-gram and lexical statistical extraction. However, when using a database, performance limitation is often imposed on the result calculations. This study presents an experimental process using MariaDB on a PC, which is easily accessible in a laboratory, to analyze the impact of the database on data analysis performance. The findings highlight the fact that the database becomes a bottleneck when analyzing large-scale text data, particularly over hundreds of thousands of records. To address this issue, a method was proposed to provide real-time humanities data analysis web services by leveraging the open source database, with a focus on the Seungjeongwon-Ilgy, one of the largest datasets in the humanities fields.

  • This research is to study the core factors for knowledge information database service and very important database service quality factors to improve customer satisfaction. The database service quality has been critical issue rather than just information service in these days, because the qualitative aspect is becoming more important factors rather than quantitative aspect. As database service quality has been influenced by satisfaction of database user, it needs to try to get excellent results by enhancing ability to obtain information. In order to satisfy this condition, it needs to measure database service quality more accurately first. In this study, we apply conjoint analysis to measure how much to give quality condition to achieve customer satisfaction.

  • In the proteomics research using mass spectrometry, the protein database search gives the protein information from the peptide sequences that show the best match with the tandem mass spectra. The protein sequence database has been a powerful knowledgebase for this protein identification. However, as we accumulate the protein sequence information in the database, the database size gets to be huge. Now it becomes hard to consider all the protein sequences in the database search because it consumes much computing time. For the high-throughput analysis of the proteome, usually we have used the non-redundant refined database such as IPI human database of European Bioinformatics Institute. While the non-redundant database can supply the search result in high speed, it misses the variation of the protein sequences. In this study, we have concerned the proteomics data in the point of protein similarities and used the network analysis tool to build a new analysis method. This method will be able to save the computing time for the database search and keep the sequence variation to catch the modified peptides.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze systematically the characteristics and types of contemporary houses and to offer information concerning houses based on web database. This study deals with single-unit Korean houses designed by modern architects, which appeared in architectural periodicals and books published since 1990. This study sets three analysis criteria : general characteristics, morphological characteristics and functional characteristics of houses. Also, the web database including analysis contents is constructed to attain various information of the houses and results. The process of constructing the web database and the search method for house information retrieval are described. It is concluded that contemporary houses show various aspects of their plans in certain specific types. By using web database we obtained various analysis on house plan. This study investigated practicality of web database in architecture, interior design and house studies, and the types of contemporary house plans are revealed as well.

  • Since web has been used as the front-end of database, many web database connectivity tools have been developed and being developed now. For web developers and educators, it has been a difficult problem to select one tool out of so many alternatives. This paper compares web database connectivity tools available on PC Windows environment in the viewpoint of developers and educators. This comparative analysis focuses on the functions and programming techniques provided by these tools through implementing a simple case study using these software solutions. The performance analysis of these tools was not done in this reason.

  • Diverse researches are working moving objects. The most important activities in a moving object database system are query and analysis of spatio -temporal data providing decision-making and problem solving support. Traditional spatial database query language and tools are inappropriate of the real world entities. This paper presents a spatio-temporal query and analysis tool with visual environment. It provides effective, interactive and user-friendly as well as statistic analysis. The moving objects database system stores plentiful moving objects data and performs spatio-temporal and nonspatio-temporal queries.

  • This paper describes CAD tools for the construction of image database in IC chip analysis CAD system. For IC chip analysis by high-resolution microscopy, the image database is essential to manage more than several thousand images. But manual database construction is error-prone and time-consuming. In order to solve this problem, we develop a set of CAD toos that include image grabber to capture chip images, image editor to make the whole chip image database from the grabbed images, and image divider to reconstruct the database that consists of evenly overlapped images for efficient region search. we also develop an interactive pattern matching method for user-friendly image editing, and a heuristic region search method for fast image division. The tools are developed with a high-performance graphic hardware with JPEG image comparession chip to process the huge color image data. The tools are under the field test and experimental resutls show that the database construction time can be redcued in 1/3 compared to manual database construction.

  • The importance of LCC analysis has been enlarged. Also, it would be necessary to computerize LCC analysis for accurate and logical analysis of LCC. In other papers, they showed LCC analysis model but the study of database development which could be applied in LCC analysis have been undeveloped. As a result, the final goal of this study is to develope LCC database. And this progress is devided 4 steps as design, construction, maintenance and disposal and derived the detailed cost item in the progresses. Futhermore, it would be possible to develope cost DB, fluent DB, general DB, building section DB, material DB and to propose database which would be applied in accurate and logical analysis of LCC.

  • When blockchain technology, which shows various applicability, is utilized as a component of a database system, the characteristics of open verification and integrity/transparency of blockchain technology can bring new functionalities or enhanced results to the existing database system. However, when applying this blockchain technology to a database system, the cost versus expected effect in various performance perspectives must be evaluated. These costs include execution time and required storage space, and the performance of the converged system may vary in analysis method depending on the configuration method of the characteristics of the blockchain. This paper aims to propose an analysis model for the entire architecture by considering aspects that are not considered in the performance analysis models of database systems and the unique characteristics of blockchains. In doing so, we are trying to build a theoretical framework as an important conceptual technique that should be considered in the evaluation process of the performance results that can be obtained through the utilization of blockchain components in database systems. What we hope is that this work is expected to provide a useful foundation for researchers interested in the convergence of database systems and blockchain technology in order to construct a system with new future functionalities.
