에틸렌 옥사이드가 부가된 양쪽성 계면활성제의 등전점 및 유연력에 관한 연구 (A Study on Isoelectric Point and Softness of an Ethylene Oxide Adducted Amphoteric Surfactant)

  • 본 연구에서는 에틸렌 옥사이드가 부가된 양쪽성 계면활성제에 대하여 기본적인 물성(임계 마이셀 농도, 표면장력, 계면장력, 접촉각, 점도, 계면활성제 시스템의 상거동 등)을 측정하였다. 또한 계면활성제 수용액에 대한 제타 전위 측정과 QCM 실험을 통하여 양쪽성 계면활성제가 양이온 계면활성제에서 비이온 계면활성제로 작용이 전환되는 등 전점을 결정하였다. 제타 전위 측정에 의하여 결정한 DE3-OSA82-AO, DE5-OSA82-AO 및 DE9-OSA82-AO 계면활성제 시스템의 등전점은 각각 6.97, 6.93 및 7.10이며, 이 결과는 QCM 측정 실험으로부터 결정한 각각의 등전점 6.97, 6.83 그리고 7.02의 값과 거의 일치하였다. 표면 마찰 시험기를 사용하여 계면활성제로 세정한 섬유의 평균 마찰계수 값을 측정한 결과, 계면활성제 수용액의 pH가 중성인 조건에서 섬유 유연 효과가 우수함을 확인하였다.

Flocculation properties of a natural polyampholyte: The optimum condition toward clay suspensions

  • Polyelectrolytes are commonly used as flocculants in drinking water treatment. However the growing concerns about their toxicity have motivated the search for biocompatible flocculants. Here, we show that gelatin, a natural amphoteric polyelectrolyte, can be effectively adsorbed on clay surfaces and can potentially be a suitable substitute for existing flocculants. The adsorption of gelatin from its aqueous solution onto the mineral clay surfaces at different conditions was systematically investigated using the design of experiments methodology. The gelatin adsorption was found to vary considerately with pH variation showed a maximum adsorption at its isoelectric point. The amount of adsorbed gelation increased with increasing pH from 3 to 5, attained a maximum at pH 5 and then decreased with increasing pH from 5 to 11. Similarly, the amount of adsorbed gelatin showed decreasing trends around salt concentration of 0.05 M and temperature $35^{\circ}C$. On the other hand, the adsorption was continuously increased with time and polymer concentration in the range of 0.1-0.9 mg/dL. Finally, the jar tests confirmed the ability of gelatin for using a natural flocculant for water treatment.

  • In order to review industrial application of amphoteric surfactants, new types of hydroxy sulfobetaine, 3-(N, N-dimethyl N-dimethyl-N-alkylammonio)-2-hydroxy-1-propane sulfonate and 3-(N, N-dimethyl N-acylammonio)-2-hydroxy-1-propane sulfonate were prepared by the reaction of quaternized sodium 1-chloro-2-hydroxy-3-propane sulfonate with N, N-dimethyl-N-alkylamine and N, N-dimethyl N-acylamido propylamine that have a straight chain radical of 12, 18 carbon atoms respectively in the presence of alkali catalyst. All the reaction products could be separated by means of column and thin layer chromatography, and the yields of all products ranged in $85{\sim}90%$, the structure of them could be confirmed from IR and $^{1}H$-NMR spectra.

  • Amphoteric surfactants were synthesized by the cyclization of 1-(2-hydroxyethyl)-2-undecyl-2-imidazoline [I] with acrylic acid ethyl ester. Compound [I] was easily hydrolyzed with water, especially in the presence of a alkali, to afford amidoamines. After [I] was hydrolyzed, the reaction mixture was allowed to react with acrylic acid ethyl ester and then soapoinfied. Only sodium salts of N- -(2-carboxyethyl)-N'-(2-hydroxyethyl)aminoethyl]dodecanoyl amide[III] was obtained. However, when the reacton of [I] with acrylic acid ethyl ester was carried out in the presence of water, followed by soapnification, ring cleavage of [I] occurred at 2, 3 position, different from hydrolysis of [I] where the cleavage occurred at 1, 2 position, to give sodium salts of N-[N'-(2-carboxyethyl)aminoethyl]-N-(2-hydroxyethyl)dodecanoyl amide [IV] and N-[N', N'-bis(2-carboxyethyl)aminoethyl]-N(2-hydroxyethyl)dodecanoyl amide [V] as main products.

비목재펄프를 이용한 도공원지의 특성이 도공지의 물성 및 인쇄적성에 미치는 영향(I) (The Effects of Base Papers Containing Nonwood Pulp on the Properties and Printability of Coated Papers(I))

  • This study was carried out to investigate the effect of the type of base papers containing Sw-BDP, HW-BDP and Bamboo-BKP on the properties and printabilities of coated papers. Also it was intended to evaluate the effect of coated paper prepared with anionic and amphoteric latex based coating color. The results obtained from this study were as follows. The fiber length of Bamboo-BKP was observed longer than that of the Hw-BKP and shorter than that of the Sw-BKP. This has effect on physical properties. Therfore the results of mea-suring physical properties were higher ratio of Sw-BKP physical properties tended to be slightly higher with the increase I the mixing ratio. Considering the optical properties of base papers the highest opacity was obtained in case of the Hw-BKP and the second appeared Bamboo-BKP. On the other hand smoothness roughness and air permeability of Bamboo-BKP were lower than those of wood pulp and the optical properties of coated papers tended to show the similar with those of base papers. The ink receptivity and print gloss of the coated papers for Bamboo-BKP were lower than those of wood pulp. As the mixing ratio of Sw-BKP was increased the properties and printabilities were improved slightly. Meanwhile amphoteric latex was improved the optical properties and printability of coated papers.

In-Situ Synthesis of PS/(-)Silica Composite Particles in Dispersion Polymerization Using An ($\pm$) Amphoteric Initiator

  • Core/shell ($\pm$)PS/(-)silica nanocomposite particles were synthesized by dispersion polymerization using an amphoteric initiator, 2,2'-azobis [N-(2-carboxyethyl)-2,2-methylpropionamidine] ($HOOC(CH_2)_2HN$(HN=) $C(CH_3)_2CN$=NC $(CH_3)_2C$(=NH)NH $(CH_2)_2COOH$), VA-057. Negatively charged (-6.9 mV) silica was used as the stabilizer. The effects of silica addition time and silica and initiator concentrations were investigated in terms of polymerization kinetics, ultimate particle morphology, and size/size distribution. Uniform hybrid microspheres with a well-defined, core-shell structure were obtained at the following conditions: silica content = 10-15 wt% to styrene, VA-057 content=above 2 wt% to styrene and silica addition time=0 min after initiation. The delay in silica addition time retarded the polymerization kinetics and broadened the particle size distribution. The rate of polymerization was strongly affected by the silica content: it increased up to 15 wt% silica but then decreased with further increase in silica content. However, the particle size was only marginally influenced by the silica content. The zeta potential of the composite particles slightly decreased with increasing silica content. With increasing VA-057 concentration, the PS microspheres were entirely coated with silica sol above 1.0 wt% initiator.

반도체 CMP 용 세리아 슬러리의 AMP 함량에 따른 분산안정성에 관한 연구 (Study on dispersion stability according to AMP content of CMP ceria slurry for semiconductor)

  • 반도체 소자의 집적도는 높아져 왔으며 이는 더 작고 밀도가 높은 회로 및 소자를 제조하는 것을 의미한다. 이에 따라 다양한 층간 표면을 매끄럽게 유지하여 미세한 패턴을 형성하고 고밀도 회로를 안정적으로 제작하는데 평탄화 기술이 중요한 역할을 한다. 결과적으로 반도체에서의 CMP(chemical mechanical polishing) 공정은 다층 구조 소자를 만들기 위해서 반드시 필요한 공정이 되었다. 일반적으로 CMP 공정의 슬러리 조성은 세리아(ceria), 분산제(dispersant), 물(DI water) 이렇게 3 가지 성분이 균형을 이루는 것이 중요하다. 본 연구에서는 AMP(2-Amino-2-methyle-1-propanol) 함량을 달리한 양쪽성 계면활성제를 사용한 세리아 슬러리 안정성 연구를 수행하였다. 결과적으로 AMP 함량에 따라 카복실기(-COOH) 영향으로 pH 안정화 되었으며, 세리아 슬러리 응집현상이 발생하지 않았으며 분산 안정성 문제가 없는 것으로 확인되었다.

Influence of Amphoteric Behaviour of Oxide Materials on the Selectivity of Micro and Mesoporous Ceramic Membranes

  • Electrostatic interaction is a very important parameter for the membrane selectivity. In this work, the electrical double layer establishment on the surface of metal oxide material from the Stern-Grahame model has been described. Then, some examples of rejection using micro and mesoporous ceramic membranes have been given. A correlation between the charges of the membrane material and the species to be filtered has been precised. Two rejection mechanisms have to be taken into account the size of the solutes and the electrostatic interactions.

  • 1-(2-hydroxyethyl)-2-undecyl-2-imidazoline로부터 유도된 9종의 양쪽성 계면활성제에 대한 표면장력과 등전점을 일정농도의 수용액에서 비교 검토하였고, 표면장력법에 의하여 cmc를 추정하였다. 카르복시화 아미드류의 표면장력은 $4.0{\times}10^{-4}{\sim}1.0{\times}10^{-3}mol/{\ell}$ 농도범위에서 26~40dyne/cm, 술폰화 또는 황산화 이미다졸린류는 $1.5{\times}10^{-3}{\sim}2.5{\times}10^{-3}mol/{\ell}$ 농도범위에서 30~35dyne/cm, 술폰화 아미드류는 $5.8{\times}10^{-4}{\sim}8.0{\times}10^{-4}mol/{\ell}$ 농도범위에서 25~33dyne/cm이었다. 또한 등전점의 pH 범위는 카르복시화 아미드류는 pH 7.2~7.9, 술폰화 또는 황산화 이미다졸린류와 술폰화 아미드류는 pH 4.5~5.5이었다.
