  • Sanitary codes of retail ffod establishment of Korea, Japan, China, and America were reviewed in order to figure out the differences of the codes. The codes of Korea & Japan are similar in many aspects. The code of America regulates food safety procedures in detail and are easy to interpret. The code of China is broad and not specific in the procedures. Korean code deals with many administration affairs and Japanese code deals with food test and business. Chinese code also deals with administration and standards. American code defines 90 different terms while the codes of rest of the countries define only few terms. For sanitization American code specifies the procedures in specific terms in detail but others do not specify the procedures. For facilities, the American code specifies location, material and procedures but other codes also specify the material but the contents of the codes are not so much specific to compare with American code.

  • The objective of this study is to develop the evaluation checklist in the public interior spaces for the elderly and the Disabled people. The propriety and intensity of three architectural codes and two standards were examined by comparing with each other and the score was made according to the value. Findings revealed that Korean accessibility code had more mandatory items than others. The essential items to the handicapped's behaviour should be preserved, but less important things could be reconsidered. Also Korean code stressed the vertical moving equipments. But Swedish code had obligatory items in fire refugees facilities, and American code emphasized the corridor and sanitary facilities. Therefore, American and Swedish mandatory items and recommendations which were not addressed in Korean code and guidelines should be considered to apply to ours by investigating a user's problems and adaptation. This research can be used as a basic checklist for public spaces by users as well as guidelines of final design.

  • The second edition of the Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules (AACR 2) was published in December 1978. In 1974 representatives Qf five bodies from Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States established the Joint Steering Committee for Revision of AACR, and set the aims, structure, and content of AACR 2. Although the goal of a single text for Britain and North America was achieved in AACR 2, the American library community expressed concern about cost-effectiveness of adoption of the new code, and consquently the LC implementation plan called for some minor departures from AACR 2. LC's plan to depart from a number of provisions of the new code will cause a continuation of the problems presented by past practices of superimposition. The purpose of this paper is to examine the revisions made in AACR 2 in the hope that it will contribute to efforts of Korean librarians seeking to focus on the major questions requiring discussion and decisions before adoption of AACR 2 by Korean research libraries who have already adopted Anglo-American Cataloging Rules for Western materials. In this paper attempts were made to follow the order of subjects treated in the code, beginning with general revisions, followed by a discussion of each of the parts of the code, the first for bibliographic description and the second for choice and form of access points. The differences between AACR 1 and AACR 2 that will be most significant to cataloguers are compared with examples. Comparative analysis of optional and alternative rules are viewed from a historical background, and their practical applications for the different types of libraries / or materials are discussed. Specifications of the options adapted by the Library of Congress are presented. Adaption of AACR 2 poses continual problems in Korea. It is very important to maintain consistent sets of information consistently presented in the catalogue regardless of its language. The recognition by cataloguers of the urgent need for conformity and campatability of catalogue between Western mateirals and Oriental materials is recommended, if AACR 2 is to be adapted. It would be intolerable for the catalogue users, if different standards of description and headings were to apply in the same catalogue.

  • This paper provides an implementation of data envelopment analysis (DEA) developed by Charnes et al. using SAS. Since a flexible interactive matrix language SAS/IML included in the SAS has a syntax similar with the matrix algebra, one can easily create and understand SAS/IML code for DEA. In this paper, a simple SAS/IML code for DEA and its illustrative implementation with an input-output data set of 25 American private university research libraries are provided.

  • The purpose of this study was to find out the type of fashion codes hip-hop fashion has in contemporary Chinese fashion, and the frequency and characteristics of each fashion code. Text mining, which is the most basic analysis method in big data analyticswas used rather than traditional design element analysis. Specific results were as follows. First, hip-hop initially entered China in the late 1970s. The most historical turning point was the American film "Breakin". Second, frequency and word cloud analysis results showed that the "national tide" fashion code was the most notable code. Third, through word embedding analysis, fashion codes were divided into types of "original hip-hop codes", "trendy hip-hop codes", and "hip-hop codes grafted with traditional Chinese culture".

  • For an axially loaded box-shaped member, the width-to-thickness ratio of the plate elements preferably should not be greater than 40 for Q235 steel grades in accordance with the Chinese code GB50017-2003. However, in practical engineering the plate width-to-thickness ratio is up to 120, much more than the limiting value. In this paper, a 3D nonlinear finite element model is developed that accounts for both geometrical imperfections and residual stresses and the ultimate capacity of welded built-up box columns, with larger width-to-thickness ratios of 60, 70, 80, and 100, is simulated. At the same time, the interaction buckling strength of these members is determined using the effective width method recommended in the Chinese code GB50018-2002, Eurocode 3 EN1993-1 and American standard ANSI/AISC 360-10 and the direct strength method developed in recent years. The studies show that the finite element model proposed can simulate the behavior of nonlinear buckling of axially loaded box-shaped members very well. The width-to-thickness ratio of the plate elements in welded box section columns can be enlarged up to 100 for Q235 steel grades. Good agreements are observed between the results obtained from the FEM and direct strength method. The modified direct strength method provides a better estimation of the column strength compared to the direct strength method over the full range of plate width-to-thickness ratio. The Chinese code and Eurocode 3 are overly conservative prediction of column capacity while the American standard provides a better prediction and is slightly conservative for b/t = 60. Therefore, it is suggested that the modified direct strength method should be adopted when revising the Chinese code.
