Hydrothermal Synthesis of Red-Emitting Y(V0.5,P0.5)O4:Eu Nanophosphors and their Application to Transparent Plasma Display Fabrication (적색발광 Y(V0.5,P0.5)O4:Eu 나노형광체의 수열 합성 및 투명 플라즈마 디스플레이 소자 제작으로의 응용)

  • Transparent plasma display can be realized by developing the synthetic chemistry of appropriate nanophosphors and generating nanophosphor-based transparent luminescent layers. For this goal, red-emitting $Y(V_{0.5},\;P_{0.5})O_4$:Eu nanophosphors were synthesized by a facile hydrothermal route at $200^{\circ}C$ for 48 h and the resulting nanophosphors were subsequently annealed at $800^{\circ}C$ at an ambient atmosphere. The crystallographic structure, morphology, and emission property of the as-synthesized and annealed nanophosphors were compared. Choosing 2-methoxyethanol as a dispersion medium and applying a standard sonication, well-dispersed nanophosphor solutions could be prepared. Using these dispersions, visible transparent nanophosphor layers were spin-deposited on glass substrates. By combining $Y(V_{0.5},\;P_{0.5})O_4$:Eu nanophosphor layer/glass substrate as a rear plate with a front plate used in a conventional plasma display panels (PDPs), mini-sized transparent red-emitting PDPs were constructed. Transmittance and luminance properties of two transparent test panels using as-synthesized versus $800^{\circ}C$-annealed nanophosphors were characterized and compared.

Efficient Multi-Touch Detection Algorithm for Large Touch Screen Panels

  • Large mutual capacitance touch screen panels (TSP) are susceptible to display and ambient noise. This paper presents a multi-touch detection algorithm using an efficient noise compensation technique for large mutual capacitance TSPs. The sources of noise are presented and analyzed. The algorithm includes the steps to overcome each source of noise. The algorithm begins with a calibration technique to overcome the TSP mutual capacitance variation. The algorithm also overcomes the shadow effect of a hand close to TSP and mutual capacitance variation by dynamic threshold calculations. Time and space filters are also used to filter out ambient noise. The experimental results were used to determine the system parameters to achieve the best performance.

Evaluation of color CRT monitor by MTFA (MTFA에 의한 칼라 CRT의 화질 평가)

  • The MTF(modulation transfer function) measuring system with a linear CCD(charge coupled-device) was constructed to cvaluate a color CRT(catode ray tube). The measured MTF values were corrected by considering the spectral response and the pixel sizes of CCD. The effects of a spot size, video bandwidth, pitch of shadow mask holes, display luminance, and ambient illumination on image quality were studied. The uniformity of resolution and the contrast Ioss by ambient light of the color CRT monitor were measured, and the results were analyzed by MTFA(modulation threshold area).

Red-shift of the photoluminescence peak of N-doped ZnO phosphors

  • ZnO films were fabricated using rf-magnetron sputter deposition process with different $N_2$ ambient. N-content in N-doped ZnO films was less than 1%. The wavelength of the highest intensity PL peak of N-doped ZnO was shifted to higher wavelength with increasing $N_2$ flow rate in the deposition ambient. These results indicated that the optical property of ZnO was significantly affected by the defect level created by doping with a very small amount of N.

Effect of ramp-type erase pulse waveform on the high Temperature driving characteristics of ac PDP

  • This paper deals with the effect of ramp-type erase pulse waveform on the high temperature driving characteristics of ac PDP driven by ramp up-down reset waveform. The experimental results show that the discharge characteristics in the reset period are significantly affected by the erase pulse waveform and ambient temperature. The firing voltage is increased with ambient temperature. This can cause misfirings during the sustain period and should be avoided. As one of possible solutions, we propose the optimization of erasing pulse shape.

  • Film morphology, crystallinity, and luminescence property of solution processed ZnO films have been studied. Fluorine addition and annealing ambient significantly change the defect-related emission band as well as the structural property. Using the overall emission behaviors, we can predict an optimized process condition for solution-based ZnO thin film.

  • 실시간 모바일 웹 환경이 e-Healthcare 시스템과 통합 적용되었을 때, 보다 사용자 중심적이고 효율적인 서비스를 제공할 수 있다. 심혈관 질환 진단 시스템인 PhysioGrid 시스템의 의료 정보 서비스를 모바일 환경 하에서 고품질의 사용자 중심적인 의료서비스가 가능하도록 시스템 인터페이스상 개선 방안을 제시한다. 구체적으로 우리는 최근 모바일 인터페이스에 매우 큰 변화를 가져온 모바일 위젯 형태의 어플리케이션을 도입한 서비스 모델을 정의하였다. 또한 정보 전달 기능을 향상시키고 사용자에게 진보된 경험 수준을 제공할 수 있는 앰비언트 디스플레이(Ambient display) 개념을 적용하여, 기존 시스템의 문제점에 대한 해결 방안을 검토하고 평가한다.

  • The image display is an Important component of PACS and of medical digital imaging chain. Displayed image qualify is affected by the physical characteristics of display device, appropriate clinical settings and calibrations, and ambient lighting conditions. The performance of display systems is continuously degraded over time due to luminance deterioration and changes of clinical setting parameters. A routine QC is recommended because the performance of display systems is continuously degraded over time. Ten flat panel monochrome LCD display devices were included in the evaluation of the QC effect. The effect of QC on primary class LCD medical display devices for selected QC tests was evaluated by comparing the performances, luminance response, luminance dependencies, display resolution and display chromaticity in this study, of before and after the calibration procedures. The effects of the QC are significant to luminance response and luminance spatial dependencies test and the other side, are slight to the display resolution and display chromaticity test. A routine QC of display device is essential for the consistency of medical image display and presentation. The study of the QC effects of display devices will play an important role in practical QC procedures of display devices.

  • Thin-film photosensors on organic light emitting diode (OLED) glass substrates using active-matrix OLED TFT manufacturing processes have been constructed and optimized, and their performance has been characterized. Suitable control circuitry and applications are proposed. The photosensors may be integrated into OLED displays for detection of ambient illumination and for detection of OLED light emission, thereby enabling output, uniformity, and aging compensation.

  • Amorphous silicon photo diodes incorporated in a polyLED stack are applied in in pixel opticalfeedback to compensate for polyLED degradation. Large quantum efficiencies and perfect linearity are demonstrated. The photosensitivity is in agreement with optical modeling of the stack. A new scheme for ambient and cross talk light cancellation is given.
