용탕단조법에 의한 휘스커강화 Al합금기 복합재료의 고속초소성 (High Strain Rate Superplasticity of Whisker Reinforced Aluminum Alloy Matrix Composites Fabricated by Squeeze Casting)

  • The superplastic behavior of whisker reinforced aluminum alloy matrix composites fabricated by squeeze casting as one of high pressure routes was investigated. The preforms of ${\alpha}-Si_3N_4$ and ${\beta}-SiC$ whiskers without any binder as a reinforcement were used. The matrix materials were 2024 and 7075 aluminum alloys. For the purpose of optimum superplastic condition, respectively, the whiskers volume fraction, extrusion temperature, tensile test temperature and initial strain rate were changed. Fracture surface of tested specimens were observed by SEM. By the results, it became possible to produce superplastic composites by applying only a hot extrusion process to composites obtained by the squeeze casting. The superplastic composites developed are ${\alpha}-Si_3N_4w/7075$, ${\alpha}-Si_3N_4w/2024$ and ${\beta}-SiCw/2024$ systems at high strain rate.

자동차용 모터하우징에 관한 다이캐스팅 성형해석 (Die Casting Analysis of Motor Housing for Automobile)

  • The die easting process was used to manufacture a motor housing for automobile. Specially automobile parts were required light and high strength. Therefore simulations have been carried out die casting process of motor housing. In this paper, we investigated about characteristics of the die casted motor housing with HPDC(High Pressure Die Casting) process. Also the MAGMAsoft was used as computer simulation code and used material was ADC12(Aluminum Die Casting Alloy). We present the results of filling behavior and solidification process of a motor housing cast. The analysis results obtained about filling behavior and solidification of cast showed good agreement with test results.

  • This study numerically and experimentally investigated on thermal strain analysis of aluminum alloy casting mold using metal foundry. To predict the numerical result of thermal strain in Al alloy casting mold during the cooling process, it is performed the investigation of temperature distribution, stress and displacement based on the physical properties of Al alloy. In results of this study, Al alloy casting mold represented rapidly cooling graph during initial 20minutes after beginning cooling process, therefore value of stress and displacement is rapidly changed during initial 20minutes after beginning cooling process. In addition to, temperature distribution obtained by experiment confirmed corresponding pattern then compared numerical analysis with experiment. These results are distribute to make the effective and the high precision casting mold.

복합주조용 Al-Si-Mg합금의 미세조직 및 인장성질에 미치는 Fe 및 Cu 첨가의 영향 (Effects of Fe and Cu Addition on the Microstructure and Tensile Properties of Al-Si-Mg Alloy for Compound Casting)

  • 알루미늄 합금과 주철의 복합주조 공정 중에는 주철로부터 철 성분이 용해되어 알루미늄 용탕에 혼입될 수 있으므로 다양한 Fe함유 금속간 화합물이 형성되며, 이로 인해 알루미늄 합금의 인장 특성이 크게 저하 될 수 있다. 반면 불순물로 첨가되는 Fe와 는 달리 Cu의 경우 알루미늄 합금의 기계적 물성을 향상시키기 위해 첨가되는 합금원소이다. 본 연구에서는 Fe와 Cu의 첨가로 인한 알루미늄 합금의 미세조직 및 인장특성의 변화를 조사하였다. 첨가된 Fe 함량이 1% 이상일 경우 조대한 Al5FeSi 상과 같은 Fe 함유 화합물들이 다량 형성되어 인장 특성이 현저히 감소하는 것으로 나타났다. Cu가 첨가 된 알루미늄 합금의 경우 Al2Cu 상이 추가로 형성되었으며, 인장 강도가 뚜렷하게 향상되는 결과를 보였다.

  • Ni-Al based intermetallic compounds of self-propagating high-temperature synthesis (SHS) by the heat of molten aluminum and been coated on the aluminum casting alloy. The effects of the pouring temperature in casting and the thickness of casting substrate on SHS of the coating layer have been investigated. The experimental result showed that the reaction of the coating layer was activated with increasing the pouring temperature in casting and the thickness of casting substrate. However, the aluminum substrate was re-melted by the heat of formation for intermetallic compounds. Then, it was considered that some mechanical or thermal treatments for elemental powder mixtures were required to control the heat of formation for intermetallic compounds in advance.

저압주조방식에 의한 AZ91D 마그네슘 휠 특성 (The characteristic of low pressure casting AZ91D Magnesium alloy wheel)

  • 본 연구에서는 마그네슘 합금 AZ91D를 소재로 18인치 휠을 개발하고 동일사양의 알루미늄 휠과 해외 시판중인 마그네슘 휠과 기계적인 성질을 비교하였다. 저압주조 방식에 의해 18인치 마그네슘 휠 시제품을 제작하여 동일 사양의 알루미늄 휠 대비 26% 의 경량화를 이룩하였고, 신판 마그네슘 휠 대비 동등 수준의 연신율, 인장강도, 경도를 달성하였다. 향 후 주조와 열처리 공정 개선을 통해 항복강도 향상이 필요한 것으로 판단된다.

B390 알루미늄 합금의 초정Si 입자분포에 미치는 원심주조 공정인자의 영향 (Effect of Centrifugal Casting Parameters on The Distribution of Primary Si Particles of B390 Aluminum Alloy)

  • To develop a functionally graded microstructure of cylindrical liner, effect of centrifugal casting parameters such as pouring temperature of hyper-eutectic Al-Si alloy melt, mold pre-heating temperature, and rotational frequency of mold on distribution of primary Si particles across wall thickness were investigated. Segregation tendency of Si particles toward inner side of cylindrical liner increased as the increase of rotational frequency of mold, pouring temperature of melt and mold pre-heating temperature. Especially, distribution density of primary Si particles within 1.5 mm from inner surface of cylindrical liner was above 35% under the centrifugal casting condition of $750^{\circ}C$ melt pouring temperature, $300^{\circ}C$ mold pre-heating temperature, and 2500 rpm mold rotational frequency.

한국형 고속전철 객차 연결부 에어백 지지부 대형 알루미늄 주물의 개발 (Development of Large-Scale Aluminum Castings of Air Bag Support Components for the Korean High Speed Trains)

  • For the lighting of vehicles structural casting components of aluminum casting alloys are substituted for those of steel or iron. For the manufacturing of large-scale premium quality aluminum castings the developments of a new casting process and a heat treatment process are necessary. The optimum casting design and heat treatment condition for large-scale castings are drawn with the help of Z-Cast software for the casting process analysis in this study. Low pressure sand casting method is applied successfully to produce air bag support components of D357 aluminum casting alloy.

듀오캐스트 Al-Mg-Si/Al 하이브리드 합금의 미세조직과 기계적 변형 특성 (Microstructure and Mechanical Behavior of Al-Mg-Si/Al Hybrid Alloy by Duo-casting)

  • Al-Mg-Si/Al hybrid alloy was prepared by Duo-casting and the mechanical behavior was evaluated based on their microstructure and mechanical properties. The hybrid aluminum alloy included the Al-Mg-Si alloy with fine eutectic structure, pure Al with the columnar and equiaxed crystals, and the macro-interface existing between Al-Mg-Si alloy and pure Al. The growth of columnar grains in pure Al occurred from the macro-interface. The tensile strength, 0.2% proof stress and bending strength of the hybrid aluminum alloy were almost similar to those of pure Al, and the elongation was much higher than the Al-Mg-Si alloy. The fracture of the hybrid alloy took place in pure Al side, indicating that the macro-interface was well bonded and the mechanical behavior strongly depends on the limited deformation in pure Al side.

응고 시뮬레이션에 의한 박육 알루미늄 다이캐스팅 금형 방안의 최적화 (Optimization of the Thin-walled Aluminum Die Casting Die Design by Solidification Simulation)

  • Thin-walled die casting of aluminum notebook computer housing with less than 1mm thickness was investigated by using computational solidification simulation and actual casting experiment. Three different types of gate design, finger, tangential and split type, were used and the results showed that sound thin-walled die casting was possible with tangential and split type gating design because those gates allowed aluminum melt flowed into the thin-wall cavity uniformly and split type gating system was preferable gating design than tangential type at the point of view of soundness of casting and distortion generated after solidification. Also, solidification simulation agreed well with the actual die-casting and the casting showed no casting defect and distortion.
