소결조건이 지르콘 쉘 몰드의 기계적 특성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Sintering condition on Mechanical Properties of Zircon Shell Molds)

  • 지르콘 쉘 몰드를 제조하여 소결 온도 및 시간에 따른 소결거동이 기계적특성에 미치는 영향을 관찰하였다. $1000^{\circ}C$에서 1.5시간동안 소결 한 쉘 몰드의 1차 코팅 표면층에서 미세균열의 크기 및 수가 극대화되었으며 소결온도 및 시간이 증가할수록 상온강도와 기공의 비표면은 감소하였다. 1차 소결 후 $1500^{\circ}C$에서 4시간동안 소결 처리한 주형의 고온변형거동은 백업층과 하중의 역방향으로 스터코와 지르콘 슬러리의 경계면을 따라 변형이 발생하였다. 1차 코팅층에서 알루미나 스터코와 지르콘 슬러리의 열팽창계수 차이와 백업 코팅층에서 지르콘 슬러리간의 입도 차이가 고온변형시험 중 역변형을 일으킨 것으로 판단된다.

  • The control of the number and dimension of nanowires is essential for dielectrophoretic(DEP) nanoscale assembly process. However, it is difficult to control the number of nanowires assembled between the electrodes. We have developed a nanowire diluter device, which consists of a glass substrate with gold electrodes and a PDMS layer with microchannel. The diluter device is fabricated by the conventional and soft lithographies using a SU-8 mold. Nickel nanowires (30${\mu}m$-long) are fabricated by a template-directed electrodeposition process using nanoporous alumina templates. A solution containing nanowires is injected into an inlet whereby pulsed voltages are applied to 16 pairs of electrodes in this experiment. The nanowires are trapped or released depending on the pulsed electric field from inlet to outlet (the channel). Therefore, the number of nanowires can be decreased correspondingly if the fixed frequency at each electrode is decreased from electrode to electrode.

용탕단조법에 의한 고강도 Mg-Li-Al합금 제조 (Fabrication of High Strength Mg-Li-Al Alloys by Squeeze Casting Process)

  • Fabrication of high strength Mg-Li-Al alloys by squeeze casting was established by the stabilization of melt and mold temperatures, applied pressure and the refining method. The entrapment of inclusions during pouring was prevented using 30 ppi alumina foam filter. The as-cast microstructure consists of a mixture of ${\alpha}$ and ${\beta}$ phases including AILi and $MgLi_2$, Al particles, which are distributed in the ${\beta}$ matrix. The grain sizes of gravity and squeeze casting alloys were 288 ${\mu}m$ and 207 ${\mu}m$ respectively. The addition of Al in Mg-Li alloys promoted the formation of second phase particles, which were adjusted to optimize the properties of Mg-Li-Al alloys. The Mg-10wt%Li-5wt%Al alloy after heat treatment at $350^{\circ}C$ for 1 hour showed the maximum hardness value. This is due to the facts that the amounts of ${\alpha}$ and ${\beta}$ phases and their distributions are dependent upon the solution treatment temperature, and that the amounts of AILi and $MgLi_2Al$ particles are dependent upon the Al content.

공압식 심실보조장치의 in-vivo 평가 및 내구성 개선 (In-vivo Evaluation of Pneumatic Ventricular Assist Device and Durability Improvement)

  • In this paper, we described 23 cases of animal experiment with our pneumatic ventricular assist device and new durability-improvement method. The blood pump consists of blood housing, and back plate made by the injection molding of isoplast, and the diaphragm fabricated by dipping of polyurethane solution onto the aluminum mold. Its volume was 75 $m\ell$ and in-vitro test showed that maximum output was 4.5 $\ell$/min at the 100 mmHg. The adult female sheep with weight of 50 + 10 kg were employed for tile in-vivo experiments and the mean blood flow was sustained at 3.0 1/min. 4 animals survived more than 15 days and the longest survival time was 28 days. In the prior 10 cases, the major causes of death were the tearing of diaphragm at the diaphragm to blood housing junction. By the new mesh and alumina ball milling methods, the durability was enhanced, and its qualitative and quantitative improvement was proved via the in-vivo and in-vitro methods. Animal experiments demonstrated that all the physiologic parameters a ere maintained within the permissible ranges and no thrombus formation was observed through the visual and blood test. The in-vivo experiments demonstrated our pneumatic ventricular assist device to he one month's bridge to transplantation device.

알루미늄 보온로 용탕 자동공급 시스템 개발 (The Development of an Automatic Molten Metal Supplier for an Aluminum Thermal Furnace)

  • The objective of this development project is to localize an automatic molten metal supplier that has been distributed by WESTOMAT, Germany, throughout the world. To achieve this purpose, an energy-saving pressurized dosing furnace and molten metal differential pressure control system that Is able to automatically supply a determined quantity of aluminum molten metal were developed. The localized equipment was installed in a site. Also, the results of the test operation of this equipment can be summarized as follows: It was able to improve the productivity because there were small decreases in supplying speeds and small losses in wastes compared to the existing mechanical molten metal supplier. Also, it was able to minimize the cost in maintenances due to the direct application of high temperature molten metals to molds. In addition, there were small energy losses due to the use of high thermal insulators compared to the existing reverberating furnace and able to prolong the life-time of furnaces and produce good quality nonferrous metals because it represented small carbon refractories and alumina in applied molten metals. Furthermore, it demonstrated no particular differences by objectively comparing it with the product by WESTOMAT.

Preceramic Polymer를 이용한 마이크로셀룰라 코디어라이트 세라믹스의 합성 (Synthesis of Microcellular Cordierite Ceramics Derived from a Preceramic Polymer)

  • In this study, a novel-processing route for producing microcellular cordierite ceramics has been developed. The proposed strategy for making the microcellular cordierite ceramics involves three steps: (i) fabricating ceramic-filled preceramic foams by heating a mixture of polysiloxane, expandable microspheres, talc, and alumina in a mold, (ii) cross-linking the foamed body, and (iii) transforming the body into microcellular cordierite ceramics by sintering. Cu jig was used for near net shaping in the foaming step. The experimental variables such as the shape of foaming jig and the content of expendable microsphere were investigated. By controlling the content of expendable microsphere, it was possible to make the porous cordierite ceramics with cell density of ${\sim}1.0{\times}10^9\;cells/cm^3$.

치과용 티타늄 및 Ti-25wt%Pd 주조체의 표면반응생성물 (Surface Reaction Products of CP- Ti and Ti-25wt%Pd Castings Used for Dental Application)

  • 본 연구에서는 치과용 티타늄(CP-Ti)과 Ti-25wt%Pd를 인산염계 실리카$.$알루미나 주형재로 주조 후 SEM/EDS, XRD, XPS를 이용하여 주조시 생성되는 표면반응생성물을 조사하였다. Ti-25wt%Pd는 CP-Ti에 비하여 융점이 현저이 감소하여 주조체의 표면반응이 상대적으로 적게 발생하였다. 또한 인산염계 실리카$.$알루미나 주형재를 소성한 결과 주형재는 $SiO_2$, $Al_2$ $O_3$, P$_2$ $O_{5}$, $Mg_3$(P $O_4$)$_2$, AlP $O_4$, $Mg_2$ $SiO_4$, MgAl$_2$ $O_4$의 성분들로 구성되어 있었으며, 표면반응생성물은 CP-Ti 주조체의 경우 $Ti_{5}$Si$_3$ 와 Ti $O_2$로, Ti-25wt%Pd 주조체의 경우 Ti $O_2$$SiO_{x}$ 로 구성되어 있었다.

페롭스카이트 구조 Sr(Ti1-xFex)O3 후막 가스센서의 특성 (Characteristics of perovskite-structure Sr(Ti1-xFex)O3 thick film gas sensors)

  • Perovskite-structure $Sr(Ti_{1-x}Fe_x)O_3$ thick films, in which x is 0.4 or 0.6, were prepared by normal ceramic process on alumina substrate. Electrical resistance was measured as a function of thermal treatment condition including atmosphere, time, and temperature. The resistance of $Sr(Ti_{1-x}Fe_x)O_3$ films is lower than those of $SrTiO_3$ or $SrFeO_3$ films. The temperature coefficient of resistance over $550^{\circ}C$ was measured to be 0 for the $Sr(Ti_{1-x}Fe_x)O_3$ films after thermal treatment at $1100^{\circ}C$ in air. The sensing property of the films was also measured as a function of temperature and gas such as $O_2$, CO, $CO_2$, NO and $NO_2$. $Sr(Ti_{1-x}Fe_x)O_3$ films showed a good sensing property for $O_2$, but no sensing signal for CO, $CO_2$, NO and $NO_2$.

AlN 세라믹의 hot pressing에 사용되는 Y2O3 및 Al2O3 소결조제의 효과 (Effects of Y2O3 and Al2O3 Addition on the Properties of Hot Pressed AlN Ceramics)

  • AlN plates were fabricated by hot pressing at $1700-1900^{\circ}C$ using yttria and alumina (3 and $10\;{\mu}m$ particle size) powders as additives and characterized: density, thermal conductivity, transverse rupture strength, and grain size measurement by SEM and EDS. Density values of $3.31-3.34\;g/cm^3$ are largely attributed to hot pressing of powder mixtures in carbon mold under $N_2$ atmosphere which caused effective degree of oxygen removal from yttrium-aluminate phase expected to form at $1100^{\circ}C$. The grain size of hot pressed AlN was almost homogeneous, with size approximately from 3.2 to $4.0\;{\mu}m$ after hot pressing. $Al_2O_3$ powder of $3\;{\mu}m$ particle size resulted in better transverse rupture strength and finer grain size compared to $10\;{\mu}m$ $Al_2O_3$ powder. The thermal conductivity of AlN ranged between $83-92.7\;W/m{\cdot}K$ and decreased with $Al_2O_3$ addition. Fine grain size is preferred for better mechanical properties and thermal conductivity.

K+-β/β"-Al2O3의 고온 상관계와 소결성 분석 (Analysis of the Phase Formation and the Sinterability of K+-β/β"-Al2O3 at High Temperatures (≥1600 ℃))

  • 고체 산화물 전해질로 사용되고 있는 초 이온 전도체인 $K^+-{\beta}/{\beta}"-Al_2O_3$의 고온 상관계와 소결성 분석을 위하여 $K_2O-LiO_2-Al_2O_3$ 삼성분계로부터 고상반응을 통하여 순수한 $K^+-{\beta}/{\beta}"-Al_2O_3$ 분말을 합성한 후 slip casting방법과 냉간정수압성형에 의하여 tube와 disk형을 각각 제작하였다. Slip casting은 40 wt%의 고체함량을 가지는 슬러리를 사용해 알루미나 몰드에서 이루어졌고 냉간정수압성형은 20 MPa의 압력하에서 수행되었다. 성형체들은 $1600^{\circ}C$, $1700^{\circ}C$, $1750^{\circ}C$에서 각각 소결하여 성형방법에 따른 상관계와 소결밀도를 조사하였다. 냉간정수압성형에 의한 시편이 $1700^{\circ}C$까지 ${\beta}"-Al_2O_3$의 상분율이 월등히 높은 반면, 소결밀도에 있어서는 slip casting방법의 경우가 다소 높았다. 소결 시 상대밀도는 $1750^{\circ}C$에서 1 h 경과 후, 두 경우 모두 약 83%를 나타내었다. 90 min 이상 소결하였을 때는 입자의 과대성장과 기공으로 인해 오히려 밀도가 낮아졌다.
