150W급 세라믹 아크튜브에 관한 연구 (A Study on Ceramic Arc-tube Metal Halide Lamp for 150W Class)

  • 최근들어 메탈핼라이드램프의 아크튜브에 사용되던 석영관을 내열성 및 내식성이 우수한 alumina ceramic 재질의 아크튜브에 교체한 세라믹 메탈핼라이드램프가 개발되었다. 이러한 세라믹 메탈핼라이드램프는 기존 석영관 메탈핼라이드램프에 비해 고효율, 고연색성 및 장수명 등 우수한 특성을 가지고 있어 램프의 compact화를 통해 150W이하의 옥내 상업용 조명시설에 급속한 보급이 이루어지고 있으며 국내에서도 이러한 세라믹 메탈핼라이드램프 개발을 위한 연구가 진행 중이다. 이에 본 논문에서는 국내 세라믹 메탈핼라이트램프(Ceramic Metal Halide lamp)의 개발에 필요한 국외 선진 제품에 대한 특성 DB구축을 위하여 150W급 세라믹 메탈핼라이드램프의 아크튜브 구조 및 치수를 측정하고 weibull++6을 이용한 성능열화데이터 분석을 통해 세라믹 메탈핼라이드램프의 수명을 예측해 보았다.

마이크로 세라믹 윅을 사용한 루프 히트파이프의 특성 연구 (Characteristic Studies on Loop Heat Pipe with Micro Ceramic Wick)

  • This paper presents the experimental and simulation study of a loop heat pipe (LHP) that can be applied to present electronics, space missions and thermal control systems. The present experimental study was carried out employing sintered alumina ceramic wick ($d=2.96\;{\mu}m$, ${\phi}=0.61$). High purity R-134a, R-22 and water were also used as alternative working fluids in addition to ammonia. The experimental study showed that the maximum heat transfer performance for the test LHP in the vertical top heating mode was over 100 Watts when ammonia was used as the working fluid. The simulation results have been compared with the experimental results to validate a simulation model based on the thermal resistance network that was developed to evaluate the performance of LHPs, focusing on their prospective applications in electronics. The simulation model is based on the loop overall energy, mass, and momentum balance. The simulation program can predict the effects of various parameters which affect the performance of LHP within 5% compared with the experimental results.

  • In recent years, The electronic and energy industries demand low power consumption and high efficiency, so under their demands, the white goods industries which are represented for refrigerator and air conditioner system be implemented energy-saving power suppling structure with inverter control system. As inverter control system is different from step control type, when switching system is optimizing temperature control during short period, the inrush plus current can be flown in the circuit. In despite of these characteristics, there is no fuse which can be applied to this type until now. For this reason, we suggest the method of manufacturing protector in the high efficient inverter control system using the alumina-based ceramic radiated heat characteristics and metal films laminated plating. And through the evaluating electrical characteristics, we make a possible to utilize the method when designing overall fuses.

The Effect of the Ceramic Precipitates on the Hydrogen Solubility in Pd Alloys

  • Hydrogen solubility in internally oxidized Pd-Mo(Al) alloys has been studied at 323 K from the measurements of pressure-composition(p-c) isotherms. Internal oxidation of $Pd_{0.985}Al_{0.015}$ and $Pd_{0.97}Mo_{0.03}$ alloys results in the precipitation of Al and Mo particles in a matrix of pure Pd. It has been observed that the presence of the aluminum and molybdenum oxide precipitates results in an enhanced hydrogen solubility in the dilute phase region of Pd-H in a Pd/aluminum(molybdenum)oxide composites. Hydrogen solubility enhancements due to the presence of residual stresses around ceramic particles have been observed from p-c isotherms determined at 323 K after oxidation at 1073 K. The solubility enhancements in completely internally oxidized alloys are greater than that in partially oxidized alloys. The stress fields near the ceramic precipitates are the major source of the solubility enhancements. Transmission electron microscopy indicates that alumina precipitates are nanometer-sized and coherent with the Pd matrix after oxidation.

  • 1960년대 중반부터 이미 고압 나트륨램프에 사용되어 오던 반투명의 세라믹 재료(Polycrystalline Ceramic Alumina ; PCA)를 기존 메탈핼라이드램프의 석영(Quartz) 발광관에 적용시킨 세라믹 메탈핼라이드(Ceramic Metal Halide ; CMH) 램프는 1995년 처음 소개된 이래 색 제어, 연색성, 광속유지율 등에서 전통적인 석영 메탈핼라이드(Quartz Metal Halide ; QMH)램프보다 우수한 특성을 가지고 있어 저와트급(150W이하)에서 고와트급에 이르기까지 폭넓게 사용되어지고 있으며 현재 국내에서도 이러한 CMH램프의 개발이 진행 중이다. 본 논문에서는 CMH램프의 우수한 특성을 살펴보기 위하여 국외 선진제품에 대한 전기적, 광학적 특성을 살펴보았으며 실험 결과 CMH 램프의 광속유지 율이 기존 QMH 램프보다 우수한 특성을 갖는 것을 확인할 수 있었다.

탄소나노튜브와 그래핀 강화 하이브리드 알루미나 복합재료의 재료특성 및 마이크로방전가공 성능 (Material properties and machining performance of CNT and Graphene reinforced hybrid alumina composites for micro electrical discharge machining)

  • Aluminum Oxide($Al_2O_3$) ceramics are excellent candidates for such applications due to their outstanding mechanical, thermal, and tribological properties. However, they are difficult to machine using conventional mechanical methods. Carbon fillers, such as carbon nanotubes(CNT) and graphene nanoplatelets(GNP)can be dispersed in a ceramic matrix to improve the mechanical and electrical properties. In this study, CNT and Graphene reinforced hybrid ceramic composites were fabricated using the spark plasma sintering method at a temperature of $1,500^{\circ}C$, pressure of 40 MPa, and soaking time of 10min. Besides this, the material properties such as microstructure, crystal structure, hardness, and electrical conductivity were analyzed using FE-SEM, XRD, Vickers, and the 4-point probe method. A micro machining test was carried out to compare the effects of the material properties and the machining performance for CNT and Graphene reinforced ceramic composites.

  • The alumina-zirconia composite powders of core particle ZrO2 coated with Al2O3 were prepared by the hydrolysis-deposition of the mixed aluminum salt solution of Al2(SO4)3-Al(NO3)3-Urea. The effects of hydrolysis reaction and coating parameters on characteristics of coated powders and composites were also investigated. The degree of coating could be estimated from the ratio of tetra-/mono-ZrO2 present at the room temperature after heat-treating coated powders at 120$0^{\circ}C$ and the result of TEM observations. When the content of ZrO2 in the dispersed coating system, the coating time, and the volume ratio of water/solution were 50 mg/g, 180 min, and 5, respectively the coating efficiency was maximum (the ratio of tetra-/mono-ZrO2 was 87/13). The relative densities of coated Al2O3-ZrO2 composites sintered at 1$650^{\circ}C$ for 4 hrs were about 91~98% and the maximum ratio of tetra-/mono-ZrO2 in Al2O3-20wt% ZrO2 composites was 62/38.

Preceramic Polymer를 이용한 마이크로셀룰라 코디어라이트 세라믹스의 합성 (Synthesis of Microcellular Cordierite Ceramics Derived from a Preceramic Polymer)

  • In this study, a novel-processing route for producing microcellular cordierite ceramics has been developed. The proposed strategy for making the microcellular cordierite ceramics involves three steps: (i) fabricating ceramic-filled preceramic foams by heating a mixture of polysiloxane, expandable microspheres, talc, and alumina in a mold, (ii) cross-linking the foamed body, and (iii) transforming the body into microcellular cordierite ceramics by sintering. Cu jig was used for near net shaping in the foaming step. The experimental variables such as the shape of foaming jig and the content of expendable microsphere were investigated. By controlling the content of expendable microsphere, it was possible to make the porous cordierite ceramics with cell density of ${\sim}1.0{\times}10^9\;cells/cm^3$.

  • Molybdenum (Mo), an electrode material of alkali metal thermal-to-electric converters (AMTEC), facilitates grain growth behavior and forms Mo-Na-O compounds at high operating temperatures, resulting in reduced performance and shortened lifetime of the cell. Mo/TiN composite materials have been developed to provide a solution for such issues. Mo is a metal that possesses excellent electrical properties, and TiN is a ceramic compound with high-temperature durability and catalytic activity. In this study, a dip-coating process with an organic solvent-based slurry was used as an optimal coating method to achieve homogeneity and stability of the electrodes. Cell performance was evaluated under various conditions such as the number of coatings, ranging from 1 to 3 times, and heat treatment temperatures of $800-1100^{\circ}C$. The results confirmed that the cell yielded a maximum power of 9.99 W for the sample coated 3 times and heat-treated at $900^{\circ}C$.

  • 고휘도 방전(High Intensity Discharge ; HID)램프는 고압기체 또는 증기 중의 방전에 의한 발광을 이용한 램프로서 고압수은램프, 메탈핼라이드램프 및 고압나트륨램프를 총칭한다. 이들 HID램프는 작은 발광관에서 고출력의 광속을 발산시킬 수 있기 때문에 주로 많은 광속을 필요로 하는 장소에 폭넓게 사용되어지고 있다. 특히, 메탈핼라이드램프의 경우 금속 고유의 여기파장을 이용하여 기존 수은방전에서 결핍된 스펙트럼을 보충할 수 있기 때문에 보다 높은 발광효율과 연색성을 향상시킬 수 있어 HID램프 중 가장 이상적인 광원으로 평가받고 있다. 근래에는 기존 발광관 재료로 사용해 오던 석영(Quartz)을 내열성 및 내식성 등이 우수한 alumina ceramic으로 교체한 세라믹 메탈핼라이드(Ceramic Metal Halide ; CMH) 램프가 개발되어 램프의 소형화를 통해 옥내 상업용 조명시설에 급속히 보급이 이루어지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 CMH램프의 우수한 특성을 살펴보기 위하여 국외 선진제품에 대한 전기적, 광학적 특성을 살펴보았다.
