  • The objectives of this study were to compare visual observation and an electronic grazing time method and to evaluate the effects of nutritional plans on intake, grazing behavior and horizontal and vertical locomotion of young bulls in a tropical pasture. Thirty-nine Nellore young bulls with an average body weight of $345{\pm}9.3$ kg kept in pasture were used. The experimental treatments consisted of: restricted: animals kept in a plot with a low mass of forage receiving mineral mixture only; control: animals receiving mineral mixture only; HPHC: a high protein and high carbohydrate supplement; HPLC: a high protein and low carbohydrate supplement; LPHC: a low protein and high carbohydrate supplement; LPLC: a low protein and low carbohydrate supplement. GPS collars equipped with activity sensors were used. Information about head position, latitude, longitude and altitude were recorded. Daytime grazing behavioral patterns monitored by a continuous focal animal recording method was compared to behavior estimated by the activity sensor. Feed intake was estimated by a marker method. The Restricted group presented lower (p<0.05) intake of dry matter and TDN. However, difference in dry matter intake was not found (p>0.05) between non-supplemented and supplemented animals. Difference was not found (p>0.05) in daytime grazing time obtained by visual observation or the activity sensor method. The restricted group showed longer (p<0.05) grazing time (9.58 h/d) than other groups, but difference was not found (p>0.05) in the grazing time between Control (8.35 h/d) and supplemented animals (8.03 h/d). The Restricted group presented lower (p<0.05) horizontal locomotion distance (2,168 m/d) in comparison to other groups (2,580.6 m/d). It can be concluded that the use of activity sensor methods can be recommended due to their being similar to visual observation and able to record 24-h/d. While supplements with high carbohydrates reduce pasture intake, they do not change grazing behavior. Moderate supplementation (until 50% of protein requirement and 30% of energy requirement) of beef cattle on tropical pasture has no effect on daily locomotion.

  • To get ecological information necessary for the prediction on succession and the silvicultural control of the black locust(R. pseudoacacia) plantation, classification of vegetation unit. competition of major species, and succession were analyzed. The results were as follows. Vegetation units classified in R. pseudoacacia forest were Quercus variabilis community, Persicaria perfoliata community, Styrax japonica community, Acalypha australis community, Typical community. Species diversity indices showed significant difference among the vegetation units. As a result of stand ordination by CCA method, arrangement of stands on Axis I was correlated significantly with altitude, sand, silt and available phosphorus contents, and that on Axis II was with total nitrogen, exchangeable calcium and kalium contents. It was judged that R. pseudoacacia plantation would be replaced by the mixed forest including Quercus spp., Acer spp., and Prunus spp. etc., native to Korea with the progression of succession as the results of analyses on competition of major species and successional tendency in R. pseudoacacia plantation.

  • The Bangudae Petroglyphs, national treasure No. 285 is located within submerged upper districts of Sayeon dam supplying the main residential water in Ulsan. Of the many ways for the reservation of Petroglyphs located the altitude at 53~57 m, the plan that we take it out of the water lowering the water level from 60 m to 52 m has been examined mainly in case of controlling artificially the water level of the dam. In this paper, we examined expected problems from the loss of dam function and the change of water quality from water deterioration caused by the water level control of the Sayeon dam. Using the model of Vollenweider and CSTR (Continuous Stirred Tank Reactor), we analyzed the density change of BOD and COD, representative water quality index and the TP and TN, the main reason of algae growth. The result showed that the density of COD lowered a little but the density of TP and TN went up over 130% when controlling the water level from 60 m to 52 m. These changes cause a serious algae problem and if doing the water quality management as the density of TN and TP, the water quality would become worse. Water storage and supply residential water decreases, and the water quality becomes worse because of eutrophic state.

  • The purpose of this study is to estimate the concentrated distribution area of nutria (Myocastor coypus) and potential suitable habitat and to provide useful data for the effective management direction setting. Based on the nationwide distribution data of nutria, the cross-validation value was applied to analyze the distribution density. As a result, the concentrated distribution areas thatrequired preferential elimination is found in 14 administrative areas including Busan Metropolitan City, Daegu Metropolitan City, 11 cities and counties in Gyeongsangnam-do and 1 county in Gyeongsangbuk-do. In the potential suitable habitat estimation using a MaxEnt (Maximum Entropy) model, the possibility of emergency was found in the Nakdong River middle and lower stream area and the Seomjin riverlower stream area and Gahwacheon River area. As for the contribution by variables of a model, it showed DEM, precipitation of driest month, min temperature of coldest month and distance from river had contribution from the highest order. In terms of the relation with the probability of appearance, the probability of emergence was higher than the threshold value in areas with less than 34m of altitude, with $-5.7^{\circ}C{\sim}-0.6^{\circ}C$ of min temperature of the coldest month, with 15-30mm of precipitation of the driest month and with less than 1,373m away from the river. Variables that Altitude, existence of water and wintertemperature affected settlement and expansion of nutria, considering the research results and the physiological and ecological characteristics of nutria. Therefore, it is necessary to reflect them as important variables in the future habitable area detection and expansion estimation modeling. It must be essential to distinguish the concentrated distribution area and the management area of invasive alien species such as nutria and to establish and apply a suitable management strategy to the management site for the permanent control. The results in this study can be used as useful data for a strategic management such as rapid management on the preferential management area and preemptive and preventive management on the possible spreading area.

  • Hypervisor virtualize hardware resources to utilize them more effectively. At the same time, hypervisor's characteristics of time and space partitioning improves reliability of flight software by reducing a complexity of the flight software. Korea Aerospace Research Institute chooses one of hypervisors for space, XtratuM, and examine its applicability to the flight software. XtratuM has strong points in performance improvement with high reliability. However, it does not support SMP. Therefore, it has limitation in using it with high performance applications including satellite altitude orbit control systems. This paper proposes RTEMS XM-SMP to support SMP with RTEMS, one of real time operating systems for space. Several components are added as hypercalls, and initialization processes are modified to use several processors with inter processors communication routines. In addition, all components related to processors are updated including context switch and interrupts. The effectiveness of the developed RTEMS XM-SMP is demonstrated with a GR740 board by executing SMP benchmark functions. Performance improvements are reviewed to check the effectiveness of SMP operations.

  • This study carried out a topographic survey at a small-scale open-pit limestone mine in Korea (the Daesung MDI Seoggyo office) using a popular rotary-wing unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV, Drone, DJI Phantom2 Vision+). 89 sheets of aerial photos could be obtained as a result of performing an automatic flight for 30 minutes under conditions of 100m altitude and 3m/s speed. A total of 34 million cloud points with X, Y, Z-coordinates was extracted from the aerial photos after data processing for correction and matching, then an orthomosaic image and digital surface model with 5m grid spacing could be generated. A comparison of the X, Y, Z-coordinates of 5 ground control points measured by differential global positioning system and those determined by UAV photogrammetry revealed that the root mean squared errors of X, Y, Z-coordinates were around 10cm. Therefore, it is expected that the popular rotary-wing UAV photogrammetry can be effectively utilized in small-scale open-pit mines as a technology that is able to replace or supplement existing topographic surveying equipments.

  • This study was conducted as a post - study on the development of a centralized controller and a hydraulic lift system including structural analysis and remote control for the development of a vertically elevated car. The safety review was carried out through the structural modification of the elevator lift which was developed during the previous research. 3D modeling was performed with Solidworks, and a model of finite element was created through Hypermesh S / W. In addition, the loading environment of the work vehicle for the evaluation is a condition in which the loading amount is 250 kg per position (total, upper, upper, lower, and lower) on the work table, ), The structural analysis was carried out under the condition that the load was 600 kg, and safety was examined in various aspects. As a result, when the allowable load of 250 kg and the excess load of 600 kg are excluded (except Case-11), the stress level is below the yield strength. In the case of Case-11, there is a region exceeding the yield strength at the center support portion of the safety bar at the upper end even after excluding the component which generates the maximum stress, but it does not affect the safety aspect of the whole structure Respectively. Looking at the deflection results, it can be seen that in all cases the maximum deflection occurs in the same table, and the tendency of sagging in both 250 kg and 600 kg is the same.

  • A location tracking sensor such as GPS, INS, Radar, and optical equipments is used in tracking Maneuvering Targets with a multi-sensor, and such systems are used to track, detect, and control UAV, guided missile, and spaceship. Until now, Most of the studies related to tracking Maneuvering Targets are on fusing multiple Radars, or adding a supplementary sensor to INS and GPS. However, A study is required to change the degree of application in fusions since the system property and error property are different from sensors. In this paper, we perform the error analysis of the sensor properties by adding a ground radar to GPS and INS for improving the tracking performance by multi-sensor fusion, and suggest the tracking algorithm that improves the precision and stability by changing the sensor probability of each sensor according to the error. For evaluation, we extract the altitude values in a simulation for the trajectory of UAV and apply the suggested algorithm to carry out the performance analysis. In this study, we change the weight of the evaluated values according to the degree of error between the navigation information of each sensor to improve the precision of navigation information, and made it possible to have a strong tracking which is not affected by external purposed environmental change and disturbance.

  • This paper presents preliminary design and performance analysis of a fast and high precision Tracking Mount for 1m Satellite Laser Ranging(SLR) which is development by Korea Astronomy and Space science Institute(KASI). SLR is considered to be the most accurate technique currently available for the precise orbit determination of Earth satellites. The SLR technique measures the time of flight between pulses emitted from laser transmitter and pulses returned from satellites with laser retro-reflector array. It provides millimeter level precision of range measurements between SLR stations and satellites. A fast and high precision Tracking Mount for SLR which is proposed in this research should be capable of day and nighttime laser tracking about the satellites with laser reflectors from 200 km to 36,000 km altitude(geosynchronous orbit). In order to meet this requirement, we performed mechanical design and structural analysis for Tracking Mount. Also we designed the motion control system and conducted pre-performance analysis to obtain good performance results for a fast and high precision Tracking Mount.

  • Accurate altimetry is required for the reliable flight control of drones or unmanned air vehicles (UAVs), and the radar altimeter is commonly used owing to its accuracy for the ground level. Due to the limitation for size, weight and power consumption, the frequency modulated continuous wave (FMCW) radar is appropriate for drone because it has lower complexity than that of pulse Doppler (PD) radar. Especially, fast-ramp FMCW radar, which transmits linear FM signal during very short period, is generally utilized, because it is robust for the ego-motion of drone. Therefore, we present the design and implementation results of the radar signal processor (RSP) for fast-ramp FMCW radar system. The proposed RSP was designed with Verilog-HDL and implemented with Altera Cyclone-IV FPGA device. Implementation results show that the proposed RSP includes 27,523 logic elements, 15,798 registers and memory of 138Kbits and can measure the altimeter at the rate of 100Hz with the operating frequency of 50MHz.
