Turbulent flow past a square cylinder confined in a channel is numerically investigated by Large Eddy Simulation(LES). The main objectives of this study are to verify the experimental results of Nakagawa et al.[Exp. in Fluids, Vol. 27, 3, pp. 284∼294, 1999] by LES and to obtain related flow information in detail. The LES results obtained are in excellent agreement with the experiment both qualitatively and quantitatively. The passive paticles numerically released into the flow field clearly show the barman vortex street. However, the vortices shed from the cylinder are significantly affected by the presence of the plates. Futhermore, periodic and alternating vortex-rollups are observed in the vicinity of the plates. The rolled-up vortex is convected downstream together with the corresponding Karman vortex forming a counter-rotating vortex pair. It is also revealed that the cylinder greatly enhances mixing process of the flow.
An in-situ four-electrode contact resistivity probe system was designed, and field-tested in submarine sediments. Seismic survey was also performed to support and compare the results of electric survey. The probe was designed to be driven to selected depths below the seafloor using a Vibracore system. The four insulated electrodes were, spaced equidistant across the wedge, were extended beyond the probe tip to minimize effects of sediment disturbance by the wedge insertion. In-situ measurements of resistivity were recorded on board by precision electronic equipment consisting of signal generators and processors, and by temperature-monitoring systems. Overall limits of Uncertainty at respective depths below the seafloor are up to ${\pm}$10 of the measured values. Best estimates of conductivity are considered to be ${\pm}$3 percent of the reported values. Resistivity measurements were made at six sites in carbonate sediments to a maximum depth of penetration of about 5 m. Average values of conductivity range between 0.88 and 1.21 mho/m. The results show the seabed is composed of alternating layers of relatively high-conductivity material (0.8 to 1.4 mho/m) in thicknesses of more or less one meter and layers about 30 cm thick having relatively low conductivities (0.4 to 0.8 mho/m).

Superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) is attractive apparatus to reduce fault current in power grid. Since it is applied to the alternating current (AC) power line, the SFCL has losses in the normal operation. Recently, coated conductor (CC) is noticeable material employed for resistive bifilar winding type SFCL in many research groups. Bifilar structure is expected to have low AC loss by magnetic field offset as compared with the single tape structure in the same length. This paper reports about characteristic of bifilar pancake type coil for SFCL application in AC loss aspect. The bifilar coil is wound using CC with facing on HTS sides each other. Transport AC loss measurement and characteristic analysis of the bifilar coil using CC have been performed at 77K. The test results are compared with the Norris equations and the test results of non-inductively wound paralleled solenoid type coil which is suggested and tested in this group at present.
The construction of the coastal structures and reclamation work causes the circulation reduced in the semi-closed inner water area and the unbalanced sediment budget of beach results in an alteration of beach topography. Among the various fluid motions in the nearshore zone water particle motion due to wave and wave-induced currents are the most responsible for sediment movement. Therefore it is needed to predict the effect of the environmental change because of development and so the prediction of wave transformation dose. The purpose of this study is to introduce the relation between waves wave-induced currents and sediment movement. In this study we will show numerical method using energy conservation equation involving reflection diffraction and reflection and the surfzone energy dissipation term due to wave breaking is included in the basic equation. For the wave-induced current the momentum equation was combined with radiation stresses lateral mixing and friction Various information is required in the prediction of wave-induced current depending on the prediction tool. We can predict changes in wave-induced current from the distribution of wave especially near the wave breaking zone. To evaluate these quantities we have to know the local condition of waves mean sea level and so on. The results from the wave field and wave-induced current field deformation models are used as input data of the sediment transport and bottom change model. Numerical model were established by a finite difference method then were applied to the development plan of the eastern Pusan coastal zone Yeonhwa-ri and Daebyun fishing port. We represented the result with 2-D graphics and made comparison between before and after development.
Poly(cyclohexane carbonate) diol was synthesized by the alternating copolymerization of cyclohexene oxide and $CO_2$ over Cr based transition metal catalysts. The prepared PCCD was applied as a precursor for the preparation of waterborne polyurethane (PUD) in order to investigate an application field of carbon dioxide-based polycarbonate. The scratch resistance and thermal properties of PUDs, which was prepared with two kinds of polymeric diols (PCD and PCCD) were investigated. The scratch resistance and thermal decomposition temperature of PUD film prepared with PCCD is worse than those prepared with PCD, poly(hexamethylene carbonate) glycol. While, glass transition temperature of PUD film prepared with PCCD was higher than that prepared with PCD. It might be due to the rigid cyclohexane structure in the PCCD.

The effect of an electric field on the ac electrical treeing in various epoxy/reactive diluent systems was studied in a needle-plate electrode geometry. Diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A (DGEBA) type epoxy was used as a base resin, and 1,4-butanediol diglycidyl ether (BDGE) or polyglycol (PG) as a reactive diluent was introduced to the DGEBA system, in order to decrease the viscosity of the DGEBA epoxy system. BDGE was acted as a chain extender, and PG acted as a flexibilizer, after the curing reaction. To measure the treeing initiation time and the propagation rate, three constant alternating currents (ac) of 10, 13 and 15 kV/4.2 mm (60 Hz) were applied to the specimen, in a needle-plate electrode arrangement, at $30^{\circ}C$ of insulating oil bath. When 10 kV/4.2 mm (60 Hz) was applied, the treeing initiation time and the propagation rate in the DGEBA system were 356 min and $1.10{\times}10^{-3}$ mm/min, respectively, those in the DGEBA/BDGE system were 150 min and $1.14{\times}10^{-3}$ mm/min, respectively. Those in the DGEBA/PG system were 469 min and $1.05{\times}10^{-3}$ mm/min, respectively. As 15 kV/4.2 mm (60 Hz) was applied, the propagation rate in the DGEBA system was $5.41{\times}10^{-3}$ mm/min, and that in the DGEBA/PG system was $1.42{\times}10^{-3}$ mm/min. These values meant that PG could be used as a reactive diluent in the DGEBA system, without the deterioration of the insulation breakdown property.
The volcanic stratigraphy and geochemistry of the Cretaceous volcanic rocks in the southern part of the Pusan showed that the volcanic rocks of the study area consist of alternating pyroclastic rocks and andesitic lavas, apparently constituting a thick volcanic sequence of a stratovolcano. The andesitic rocks contain augite, plagioclase, and hornblende as phenocrysts. Matrix minerals are augite, magnetite, hornblende, apatite. Mafic minerals, such as chlorite, epidote, sericite, and iron oxides occur as alteration products. Dacitic volcanic breccia and rhyolitic welded ash-flow tuff locally overlie the andesitic rocks. The rocks reported in the previous studies as andesitic breccia and andesite plot in the field of basalt, basaltic andesite, andesite, dacite and rhyolite, based on their chemical compositions. The volcanic rocks of the study area belong to the calc-alkaline series, and the andesitic rocks which are predominant in the area plot to the field of orogenic andesite.
Three-dimensional baroclinic hydrodynamic model, BACHOM-3, is developed using ADI finite difference scheme. The model is applied to a uni-nodal standing wave in a rectagular basin. The model results for the surface elevation and velocities coincide with the analytical results. To verify the field applicability of the model and to investigate the flow patterns of the Suyoung Bay in Pusan, Korea, the model is applied to the bay. The numerically predicted velocity predicted velocity fields during spring tide at normal river flow are compared with field measurements, the comparisons show good agreement. A clockwise residual circulations at the first level (depth = 0∼2m) and the second level (depth=2∼5 m) of the central part of the bay occur, and the ebb flow is stronger than the flood flow. Computed velocity fields show that the phase difference of velocities between the surface layer and bottom layer occurs and the phase lag increases with height from the bottom. Then, the model is applied successfully for the computation of flow fields considering flood river flow and wind effects. When the wind is blowing toward the land from the sea, the flow patterns at the surface layer correspond with the wind direction, but the flow patterns at the near solid boundary of the lower layer show opposite currents to the wind direction.

Transparent and flexible electronic devices that are light-weight, unbreakable, low power consumption, optically transparent, and mechanical flexible possibly have great potential in new applications of digital gadgets. Potential applications include transparent displays, heads-up display, sensor, and artificial skin. Recent reports on transparent and flexible field-effect transistors (tf-FETs) have focused on improving mechanical properties, optical transmittance, and performances. Most of tf-FET devices were fabricated with transparent oxide semiconductors which mechanical flexibility is limited. And, there have been no reports of transparent and flexible all-organic tf-FETs fabricated with organic semiconductor channel, gate dielectric, gate electrode, source/drain electrode, and encapsulation for sensor applications. We present the first demonstration of transparent, flexible all-organic sensor based on multifunctional organic FETs with organic semiconductor channel, gate dielectric, and electrodes having a capability of sensing infrared (IR) radiation and mechanical strain. The key component of our device design is to integrate the poly(vinylidene fluoride-triflouroethylene) (P(VDF-TrFE) co-polymer directly into transparent and flexible OFETs as a multi-functional dielectric layer, which has both piezoelectric and pyroelectric properties. The P(VDF-TrFE) co-polumer gate dielectric has a high sensitivity to the wavelength regime over 800 nm. In particular, wavelength variations of P(VDF-TrFE) molecules coincide with wavelength range of IR radiation from human body (7000 nm ~14000 nm) so that the devices are highly sensitive with IR radiation of human body. Devices were examined by measuring IR light response at different powers. After that, we continued to measure IR response under various bending radius. AC (alternating current) gate biasing method was used to separate the response of direct pyroelectric gate dielectric and other electrical parameters such as mobility, capacitance, and contact resistance. Experiment results demonstrate that the tf-OTFT with high sensitivity to IR radiation can be applied for IR sensors.
A total of 264 independently oriented core samples were collected from 26 sites in the southwestern part (the Naktong Trough) of the Cretaceous $Ky{\check{o}}ngsang$ Basin in south Korea. The sampled formations comprise the sedimentary Shindong and the Hayang Groups of the Lower Cretaceous age. Alternating field and thermal demagnetizations were conducted. Characteristic remanent magnetization (ChRM) was relatively easily isolated in each formation except in the Chinju formation, from which only remagnetization circles were observed. Even though an extensive use of the fold test was not possible due to the nearly homoclinal nature of the strata in the area, we believe that the ChRM of each formation is of primary origin based on the following grounds: The in-situ ChRM direction of each formation is different from the present geomagnetic field direction. Fisherian precision parameter becomes enhanced through the tilt correction in all formations, closely to the values required for a positive fold test. Three out of the five studied formations pass the reversal test. The mean palaeomagnetic pole position from the studied area is found to be statistically different from the contemporary pole from the Chinese block exclusive of the Shandong area. The difference in magnetic declination suggests a $14.5^{\circ}$ (${\pm}10.5^{\circ}$) clockwise rotation of the studied area relative to the Chinese block comprising the west of the Tan-Lu fault. On the other hand, any significant difference in magnetic inclination and concurrent palaeolatitude is not observed between the studied area and China as well as the other area (Taegu-Andong area) in the $Ky{\check{o}}ngsang$ Basin. The dual nature of the magnetic polarity confirmed in all formations suggests an older than 124 Ma (Neocomian or older) age of the studied sedimentary strata.
