The activation energy to create a phase transformation or for the reaction to move to the next stage in the milling process can be calculated from the slop of the DSC plot, obtained at the various heating rates for mechanically activated Al-Ni alloy systems by using Kissinger's equation. The mechanically activated material has been called "the driven material" as it creates new phases or intermetallic compounds of AlNi in Al-Ni alloy systems. The reaction time for phase transformation by milling can be calculated using the activation energy obtained from the above mentioned method and from the real required energy. The real required energy (activation energy) could be calculated by subtracting the loss energy from the total input energy (calculated input energy from electric motor). The loss energy and real required energy divided by the reaction time are considered the "metabolic energy" and "the effective input energy", respectively. The milling time for phase transformation at other Al-Co alloy systems from the calculated data of Al-Ni systems can be predicted accordingly.

The microstructures and corrosion properties of Al-Si diffusion coated PWA1426 and PWA658 alloys have been investigated. The coated layer and corrosion properties were analysed by SEM, EDS and hot corrosion test. According to the results of SEM, it is supposed that the coated layers were composed of mixed, denuded and inter-diffusion layer. The coated PWA1426 alloy improved corrosion properties, compared to the PWA658 alloy. Corrosion debris generated during hot corrosion test of PWA658 alloy are identified as NiO, $TiO_2$and $NiAl_2$$O_4$from coated layer which increase oxidation rate and decrease adhesion. The PWA1426 alloy heat treated at $1080^{\circ}C$ showed that NiAl and $Al_2$$O_3$formed on coated layer.
$Al_{85}Ni_{10}Y_5$ (at. %) amorphous alloy ribbons have been produced by rapidly solidification process and consolidated by the conventional powder metallurgy method. The grains with ∼90 nm were obtained in the Al85Ni10Y5 alloy extrudates by hot-pressing followed by hot-extusion. To investigate the effect of heat treatment on microstructural change of the extrudates, heat treatment was carried out from 200℃ to 400℃ at the step of 50℃. In addition, mechanical properties of the extrudates were analysed from torsion test at the temperature range or 400∼500℃ under a strain rates of 0.2, 0.5, and 1.0/sec. The extrudates showed a flow stress of ∼190 MPa and low elongation of ∼150% at 400℃, contributing to the enhancement of ductility and hardness for extrudates. Also, grain boundary sliding was occurred in the $Al_{85}Ni_{10}Y_5$ alloy during hot deformation.
PURPOSE. This study aimed to develop a copper-aluminium-nickel alloy which has properties comparable to that of dental alloys used for dental post and core applications with the reasonable cost. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Sixteen groups of experimental copper alloys with variants of 3, 6, 9, 12 wt% Al and 0, 2, 4, 6 wt% Ni were prepared and casted. Their properties were tested and evaluated. The data of thermal, physical, and mechanical properties were analyzed using the two-way ANOVA and Tukey's test (${\alpha}$=0.05). The alloy toxicity was evaluated according to the ISO standard. RESULTS. The solidus and liquidus points of experimental alloys ranged from $1023^{\circ}C$ to $1113^{\circ}C$ and increased as the nickel content increased. The highest ultimate tensile strength ($595.9{\pm}14.2$ MPa) was shown in the Cu-12Al-4Ni alloy. The tensile strength was increased as the both elements increased. Alloys with 3-6 wt% Al exhibited a small amount of 0.2% proof strength. Accordingly, the Cu-9Al-2Ni and Cu-9Al-4Ni alloys not only demonstrated an appropriate modulus of elasticity ($113.9{\pm}8.0$ and $122.8{\pm}11.3$ GPa, respectively), but also had a value of 0.2% proof strength ($190.8{\pm}4.8$ and $198.2{\pm}3.4$ MPa, respectively), which complied with the ISO standard requirement (>180 MPa). Alloys with the highest contents of nickel (6 wt% Ni) revealed a widespread decolourisation zone (5.0-5.9 mm), which correspondingly produced the largest cell response, equating positive control. CONCLUSION. The copper alloys fused with 9 wt% Al and 2-4 wt% Ni can be considered for a potential use as dental post and core applications.
For commercialization of molten carbonate fuel cell (MCFC), it has some problems to be overcome such as decrease of porosity and thickness of the anode under the operating condition (at $650^{\circ}C$ and working pressure of more than 2 $kg_f/cm^2$). Recently, Ni-Al alloy anode has been proposed to replace the conventional Ni-Cr anode as an alternative material to resist a creep and inhibit the sintering. The objective of this research is to sinter the green sheet of Ni-Al alloy anode during single cell pre-treatment process, which has several advantages like cost down and simplification of manufacturing process. However, the Ni-Al alloy anode prepared with a conventional pre-treatment process showed the phase separation of Ni-Al alloy and formation of micropore(${\leqq}0.4{\mu}m$), resulting in low creep resistance and high electrolyte re-distribution. In order to prevent the Ni-Al alloy anode from phase-separating, nitrogen gas was used in the process of pre-treatment. Introducing the nitrogen, the phase separation from Ni-Al alloy into nickel and alumina was minimized and increased creep resistance. However, there was some micropore formation on the surface of Ni-Al alloy anode during the cell operation due to creation of lithium aluminate. Addition of more amount of electrolyte into a cell, especially at cathode, made the cell performance stable for 2,000 hrs. Consequently, it was possible to make the Ni-Al alloy anode with good creep resistance by the modified in-situ sintering technique.

In this paper, shape memory compsites are made by powder metallurgy. And then, an self-strengthening effect of the composites by shape memory effect above inverse transformation temperature A/sab f/ of TiNi alloy discussed. Moreover, TiNiCo/Al composite is made by using TiNiCo alloy as fiber. And it is discused aboutaffection of Co in the shape memory composite. The results of the intelligent properties of TiNi/Ai-radical shape memory composite, using SMA, by powder metallurgy are the tensile strength of TiNiCo wire is much higher than that of TiNi wire. and the strength of TiNiCo/Al composite is generally higher than that TiNi/Al composite.
Precipitation behavior has been studied in NiTi-based ordered alloy using transmission electron microscopy. The hardness after solution treatment is high in NiTi alloy suggesting the large contribution of solid solution strengthening in this alloy system. However, the amount of age hardening is not large as compared to the large microstructural variations during aging. At the beginning of aging, the $L2_1-type$$Ni_2AlTi$ precipitates keep a lattice coherency with the NiTi matrix. By longer periods of aging $Ni_2AlTi$ precipitates lose their coherency and change their morphology to the globular ones surrounded by misfit dislocations. Misfit dislocations, which are observed on {100} planes of H-precipitates have the Burgers vector of a <100> with a pure edge type. The lattice misfits of $NiTi-Ni_2AlTi$ system is estimated from the spacings of misfit dislocations to be 1.3% at 1273 K. The lattice misfits decrease with increasing aging temperature in this system.
NiAl alloy powders were prepared by mechanical alloying method and bulk specimens were produced using hot isostatic pressing techniques. This study focused on the transformation behavior and properties of Ni-Al mechanically alloyed powders and bulk alloys. Transformation behavior was investigated by differential scanning calorimeter (DSC), XRD and TEM. Particle size distribution and microstructures of mechanically alloyed powders were studied by particle size analyzer and scanning electron microscope (SEM). After 10 hours milling, XRB peak broadening appeared at the alloyed powders with compositions of Ni-36at%Al to 40at%Al. The NiAl and $Ni_3Al$ intermetallic compounds were formed after water quenching of solution treated powders and bulk samples at $1200^{\circ}C$, but the martensite phase was observed after liquid nitrogen quenching of solution treated powders. However, the formation of $Ni_3Al$ intermetallic compounds were not restricted by fast quenching into liquid nitrogen. It is considered to be caused by fast diffusion of atoms for the formation of stable $\beta$(NiAl) phase and $Ni_3Al$ due to nano sized grains during quenching. Amounts of martensite phase increased as the composition of aluminium component decreased in the Ni-Al alloy, which resulted in the increasing damping properties.
The oxidation behavior of the crystallized $Al_{87}Ni_3Y_{10}$ alloy has been investigated with an aim to compare with that of the amorphous $Al_{87}Ni_3Y_{10}$ alloy. The oxidation at 873 K occurs as follows: (1) growth of an amorphous aluminum-yttrium oxide layer (~10 nm) after heating up to 873 K; and (2) formation of $YAlO_3$ crystalline oxide (~220 nm) after annealing for 30 hours at 873 K. Such an overall oxidation step indicates that the oxidation behavior in the crystallized $Al_{87}Ni_3Y_{10}$ alloy occurs in the same way as in the amorphous $Al_{87}Ni_3Y_{10}$ alloy. The simultaneous presence of aluminum and yttrium in the oxide layer significantly enhances the thermal stability of the amorphous structure in the oxide phase. Since the structure of aluminum-yttrium oxide is dense due to the large difference in ionic radius between aluminum and yttrium ions, the diffusion of oxygen ion through the amorphous oxide layer is limited thus stabilizing the amorphous structure of the oxide phase.

The influence of Pd and Ag additions on the thermal stability, the glass forming ability (GFA) and mechanical property of $Zr_{55}Al_{10}Cu_{20}Ni_{10}Pb_{(5-x)}Ag_x$ (x = $0{\sim}5at%$) alloys obtained by melt spun and injection casting method have been investigated by using of X-ray diffraction, thermal analysis (DTA, DSC) and micro-Vickers hardness(Hv) testing. The thermal properties of melt-spun $Zr_{55}Al_{10}Cu_{20}Ni_{10}Pb_{(5-x)}Ag_x$ (x = $0{\sim}5at%$) alloys exhibit a supercooled liquid region(${\Delta}T_x$) exceeding 91 K before crystallization. The largest ${\Delta}T_x$ reaches as large as 126 K for the $Zr_{55}Al_{10}Cu_{20}Ni_{10}Pb_5$ alloy. The reduced glass transition temperature, $T_{rg}$ increased with increasing Ag content. The largest $T_{rg}$ is obtained for the $Zr_{55}Al_{10}Cu_{10}Ni_{10}Ag_5$ alloy. The $Zr_{55}Al_{10}Cu_{10}Ni_{10}Ag_5$ bulk amorphous alloy rod with 3 mm in diameter was fabricated by injection casting. Hv increased with increasing Ag content and the largest value was obtained for the $Zr_{55}Al_{10}Cu_{10}Ni_{10}Ag_5$ bulk amorphous alloy.
