The effect of minor element additions (Ca, Al) on microstructural change and magnetic properties of Fe-Nb-Cu-Si-B alloy has been investigated, in this paper. The Fe-Si-B-Nb-Cu(-Ca-Al) alloys were prepared by arc melting in argon gas atmosphere. The alloy ribbons were fabricated by melt-spinning, and heat-treated under a nitrogen atmosphere at $520-570^{\circ}C$ for 1 h. The soft magnetic properties of the ribbon core were analyzed using the AC B-H meter. A differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) was used to examine the crystallization behavior of the amorphous alloy ribbon. The microstructure was observed by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscope (TEM) and scanning electron microscope (SEM). The addition of Ca increased the electrical resistivity to reduce the eddy current loss. And the addition of Al decreased the intrinsic magnetocrystalline anisotropy $K_1$ resulting in the increased permeability. The reduction in the size of the ${\alpha}$-Fe precipitates was observed in the alloys containing of Ca and Al. Based on the results, it can be concluded that the additions of Ca and Al notably improved the soft magnetic properties such as permeability, coercivity and core loss in the Fe-Nb-Cu-Si-B base nanocrystalline alloys.

A graft copolymer of poly(vinyl chloride)-g-poly(oxyethylene methacrylate) (PVC-g-POEM) was synthesized via atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) and used as a structure-directing agent to prepare $Al@Fe_2O_3$ core-shell nanocomposites through a sol-gel process. The amphiphilic property of PVC-g-POEM allows for good dispersion of Al particles and leads to specific interaction with iron ethoxide, a precursor of $Fe_2O_3$. Secondary bonding interaction in the sol-gel composites was characterized by Fourier transform-infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy. The well-organized morphology of $Al@Fe_2O_3$ core-shell nanocomposites was observed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) were used to analyze the elemental composition and crystallization structure of the composites.
The effects of B additions, alone or in combination with Si, on the microstructure, $DO_3{\rightleftharpoons}B2$ transition temperature($T_c$) and corrosion behavior of Fe-25at%Al alloys were investigated. The raw materials were arc-melted in vacuum and then subjected to the following heat treatments to maximize the $DO_3$ order : homogenized at $1000^{\circ}C$ for 48hrs, slowly cooled to $500^{\circ}C$, and held at that temperature for 24hours. Results showed that the B addition to Fe-25at%Al alloys does indeed refine the grain and change from intergranular to transgranular fracture mode at room temperature, indicating a strengthening of grain boundaries. The Fe-25at% Al-1at% B-3at% Si alloy showed the highest $T_c$(${\Delta}T_c=150^{\circ}C$) in this work. However, the effectiveness of Si in raising $T_c$ decreased with more than 5at% Si additions combined with B. Since the preferential corrosion occurs at the precipitates, the corrosion resistance decreased due to the increased amount of precipitates with alloying additions.
The crystal structure and magnetic properties of the $Ni_{1-x} Cd_xFeAlO_4$(0$\leq$x$\leq$0.5) have been investigated by means of X-ray diffractometry and Mossbauer spectroscopy. The samples($0\leq$x$\leq$0.5) have been prepared by the ceramic sintering method. The X-ray diffraction pattern shows that the crystal structure of the samples is a cubic spinel type. The lattice constant has been found by extrapolation using the Nelson- Riley function and it increases slightly from $8.321{\AA}$ to $8.410{\AA}$ with Cd concentration. The Mossbauer spectra for x<0.4 show a superposition of two sextets and a paramagnetic doublet at room temperature. The cation distribution for x=0 was determined to be $[Fe_{0.75}Al_{0.25}]^A[NiFe_{0.25}Al_{0.75}^BO_4$. The superparamagnetic doublet for x< 0.4 seems to be due to A1 ion in tetrahedral site by the superparamagnetic clustering effect.

In this letter, We have investigated cell characteristics of the alloy FePt-NDs charge trapping memory capacitors with high-k $Al_2O_3$ dielectrics as a blocking oxide. The capacitance versus voltage (C-V) curves obtained from a representative MOS capacitor embedded with FePt-NDs synthesized by the post deposition annealing (PDA) treatment process exhibit the window of flat-band voltage shift, which indicates the presence of charge storages in the FePt-NDs. It is shown that NDs memory with high-k $Al_2O_3$ as a blocking oxide has performance in large memory window and low leakage current when the diameter of ND is below 2 nm. Moreover, high-k $Al_2O_3$ as a blocking oxide increases the electric field across the tunnel oxide, while reducing the electric field across the blocking layer. From this result, this device can achieve lower P/E voltage and lower leakage current. As a result, a FePt-NDs device with high-k $Al_2O_3$ as a blocking oxide obtained a~7V reduction in the programming voltages with 7.8 V memory.
The effect of grain size on the damping capacity of Fe-26Mn-2Al alloy studied in this paper has been investigated after changing the microstructure by cold rolling and changing grain size. Micro structures in Fe-26Mn-2Al at room temperature consist of a large quantity of austenite and a small quantity of ${\varepsilon}\;and\;{\alpha}'$ martensite. And ${\varepsilon}\;and\;{\alpha}'$ martensite was increased by increasing the degree of cold rolling. The content of deformation induced martensite was increased with increasing the degree of cold rolling. Damping capacity was linearly increased with increasing ${\varepsilon}$ martensite content, which suggests that stacking faults and ${\varepsilon}$ martensite variant boundaries are the principle damping sources. With increasing the grain size in Fe-26Mn-2Al alloy, the damping capacity was increased due to increasing the volume fraction of ${\varepsilon}$ martensite by decrement in stability of austenite phase. With decreasing the grain size, the content of deformation induced martensite was decreased and the damping capacity was decreased.
Magnetic characteristics of some anisotropic mischmetal- FeB- (Co,Ti,Al) permanent magnets have been investigated. The magnets were fabricated by using hot-pressed and die-upsetting. Hot-pressed $\textrm{(MM)}_{12.5}\textrm{Fe}_{71.9}\textrm{Co}_{5.0}\textrm{Al}_{2.0}\textrm{B}_{8.6}$ permanent magnet showed $\textrm{H}_{c}$=4.27 kOe, $\textrm{B}_{r}$=4.75 kG, $\textrm{(BH)}_{max}$=3.82 MGOe, and die- upset magnet showed $\textrm{H}_{c}$=3.10 kOe, $\textrm{B}_{r}$=5.58 kG, $\textrm{(BH)}_{max}$=5.34 MGOe, respectively. Hot-pressed $\textrm{(MM)}_{12.5}\textrm{Fe}_{77.9}\textrm{Ti}_{1.0}\textrm{B}_{8.6}$ permanent magnet showed $\textrm{H}_{c}$=3.75 kOe, $\textrm{B}_{r}$=4.64 kG, $\textrm{(BH)}_{max}$=2.78 MGOe, and die- upset magnet showed $\textrm{H}_{c}$=3.29 kOe, $\textrm{B}_{r}$=5.01 kG, $\textrm{(BH)}_{max}$=3.54 MGOe, respectively. X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy revealed that the higher energy products in the die-upset magnets results from alignment of the c-axis along the die-upsetting direction. The magnetic anisotropy in hot-pressed MM-FeB- Al magnet is increased by the substitution of Co for Fe.
Microstructure and mechanical properties were examined on rapidly solidified Al-8wt%Fe alloy. High temperature strength test was also undertaken, and it is shown that the refinement in microstructure resulting from extremely rapid cooling rates gives rise to improved high temperature strength, but the elongation to fracture of this material decreases with increasing temperature, particularly in the temperature range up to 30$0^{\circ}C$. Specimens heat-treated for 100 hrs were analyzed with TEM micrographs to understand the thermal stability of this material.
The geology of the Samdeok Mo deposit consists of Paleozoic Hwajeonri formation, Kowoonri formation, Suchangri formation, Iwonri formation, Hwanggangri formation, Cretaceous, leucocratic porphyritic granite and granitic porphyry. This deposit consists of three quartz veins that filled NS oriented fractured zones in Suchangri formation. Quartz veins vary from 0.05 m to 0.3 m in thickness and extend to about 400 m in strike length. Quartz veins occur as massive, breccia, and cavity textures. Wallrock alteration has silicification, sericitization, argillitization and chloritization. The mineralogy of the quartz veins consists of quartz, fluorite, white mica, biotite, apatite, monazite, rutile, ilmenite, molybdenite, chalcopyrite, Fe-Mg-Mn oxide and Fe oxide. White mica from Samdeok Mo deposit occurs as fine or coarse grains in quartz vein and hostrock and has four mineral assemblages (I type: quartz, molybdenite, Fe oxide and Fe-Mg-Mn oxide, II type: quartz, Fe oxide and Fe-Mg-Mn oxide, III type: quartz and biotite, and IV type: quartz). The structural formular of white mica from quartz vein is $(K_{0.89-0.60}Na_{0.05-0.00}Ca_{0.01-0.00}Sr_{0.02-0.00})_{0.94-0.62}(Al_{1.54-1.12}Mg_{0.36-0.18}Fe_{0.26-0.09}Mn_{0.04-0.00}Ti_{0.02-0.00}Cr_{0.02-0.00}Zn_{0.01-0.00})_{1.91-1.72}(Si_{3.40-3.11}Al_{0.92-0.60})_{4.00}O_{10}(OH_{1.68-1.42}F_{0.58-0.32})_{2.00}$, but white mica of I type has higher FeO content, and lower $SiO_2$ and MgO contents than white micas of other types. Also, compositional variations in white mica from the Samdeok Mo deposit are caused by phengitic or Tschermark substitution ($(Al^{3+})^{VI}+(Al^{3+})^{IV}{\leftrightarrow}(Fe^{2+}{\text{ or }}Mg^{2+})^{VI}+(Si^{4+})^{IV}$) and direct $(Fe^{3+})^{VI}{\leftrightarrow}(Al^{3+})^{VI}$ substitution.
The Samgwang deposit has been one of the largest deposits in Korea. The deposit consists of series of host rocks including Precambrian metasedimentary rocks and Jurassic Baegunsa formation, which unconformably overlies the Precambrian metasedimentary rocks. The deposit consists of eight lens-shaped quartz veins which filled fractures along fault zones in Precambrian metasedimentary rock, which feature suggest that it is an orogenic-type deposit. Laminated quartz veins are common in the deposit which contain minerals including quartz, ankerite, white mica, chlorite, apatite, rutile, arsenopyrite, sphalerite, chalcopyrite and galena. The structural formulars of white micas from laminated quartz vein and wallrock alteration are determined to be (K1.02-0.82Na0.02-0.00Ca0.00)(Al1.73-1.58Mg0.26-0.16Fe0.23-0.10Mn0.00Ti0.03-0.01Cr0.01-0.00)(Si3.35-3.22Al0.79-0.65)O10(OH)2 and (K0.75-0.67Na0.01Ca0.00) (Al1.78-1.74Mg0.16-0.15Fe0.15-0.13Mn0.00Ti0.04-0.02Cr0.01-0.00)(Si3.33-3.26Al0.74-0.67)O10(OH)2, respectively. It suggest that white mica from laminated quartz vein has higher interlayer cation (K+Na+Ca) and Fe+Mg+Mn+Ti content in octahedral site compared to the white mica from the wallrock alteration. Compositional variations in white mica from laminated quartz vein can be caused by phengitic or Tschermark substitution ((Al3+)VI+(Al3+)IV <-> (Fe2+ or Mg2+)VI)+(Si4+)IV) and (Fe3+)VI <-> (Al3+)VI substitution. Ankerite from laminated quartz vein has compositional variations of FeO and MgO contents along crystal growth direction. The geochemical and textural features suggest that laminated quartz vein from the Samgwang gold-silver deposit was formed during ductile shear stage, which is an important main gold-silver ore-forming event in orogeinc deposit.
