고압 다이캐스팅용 알루미늄 합금의 열전도성 및 주조성에 미치는 첨가원소의 영향 (Effect of Alloying Elements on the Thermal Conductivity and Casting Characteristics of Aluminum Alloys in High Pressure Die Casting)

  • High pressure die casting is one of the precision casting methods. It is highly productivity and suitable for manufacturing components with complex shapes and accurate dimensions. Recently, there has been increasing demand for efficient heat dissipation components, to control the heat generated by devices, which directly affects the efficiency and life of the product. Die cast aluminum alloys with high thermal conductivity are especially needed for this application. In this study, the influence of elements added to the die cast aluminum alloy on its thermal conductivity was evaluated. The results showed that Mn remarkably deteriorated the thermal conductivity of the aluminum alloy. When Cu content was increased, the tensile strength of cast aluminum alloy increased, showing 1 wt% of Cu ensured the minimum mechanical properties of the cast aluminum. As Si content increased, the flow length of the alloy proportionally increased. The flow length of aluminum alloy containing 2 wt% Si was about 85% of that of the ALDC12 alloy. A heat dissipation component was successfully fabricated using an optimized composition of Al-1 wt%Cu-0.6 wt%Fe-2 wt%Si die casting alloy without surface cracks, which were turned out as intergranular cracking originated from the solidification contraction of the alloy with Si composition lower than 2 wt%.

고온 용융염계에서 Ni-Base 초합금의 부식거동 (Corrosion Behavior of Ni-Base Superalloys in a Hot Molten Salt)

  • The electrolytic reduction of spent oxide fuel involves the liberation of oxygen in a molten LiCl electrolyte, which results in a chemically aggressive environment that is too corrosive for typical structural materials. So, it is essential to choose the optimum material for the process equipment handling molten salt. In this study, corrosion behavior of Inconel 713LC, Inconel MA 754, Nimonic 80A and Nimonic 90 in the molten salt $LiCl-Li_2O$ under an oxidizing atmosphere was investigated at $650^{\circ}C$ for 72~216 hrs. Inconel 713LC alloy showed the highest corrosion resistance among the examined alloys. Corrosion products of Inconel 713LC were $Cr_2O_3$, $NiCr_2O_4$ and NiO, and those of Inconel MA 754 were $Cr_2O_3$ and $Li_2Ni_8O_{10}$ while $Cr_2O_3$, $LiFeO_2$, $(Cr,Ti)_2O_3$ and $Li_2Ni_8O_{10}$ were produced from Nimonic 80A. Also, corrosion products of Nimonic 90 were found to be $Cr_2O_3$, $(Cr,Ti)_2O_3$, $LiAlO_2$ and $CoCr_2O_4$. Inconel 713LC showed local corrosion behavior and Inconel MA 754, Nimonic 80A, Nimonic 90 showed uniform corrosion behavior.

용탕단조법으로 제조된 AZ51-xSn 마그네슘 합금의 미세파괴기구 (Microfracture Mechanism of Squeeze Cast AZ51-xSn Magnesium Alloys)

  • A study was made of the effects of a Sn addition on the microstructure and microfracture mechanism of squeeze cast AZ51-xSn magnesium alloys. Microstructural observation, in situ fracture testing, and fractographic observations were conducted on these alloys to clarify the microfracture process. The microstructural analyses indicated that $Mg_2Sn$ particles as well as $Mg_{17}Al_{12}$ particles precipitated mainly along the solidification cell boundaries; the volume fraction of these hard particles increased as the amount of added Sn increased, with increased the strength. From in situ fracture observations of the AZ51-7Sn alloy, coarse precipitates located on the cell boundaries worked as easy crack propagation sites and caused abrupt intercellular fracturing. On the other hand, the overall fracture properties of the AZ51-3Sn alloy improved because crack propagation proceeded into the Mg matrix rather than into the cell boundaries as twins developed actively, as confirmed by an R-curve analysis. These findings suggest that the addition of 3~5 wt.% Sn is effective in improving both the tensile and fracture properties on the basis of well-developed twins, the blocking of crack propagation, and crack blunting.

IN738LC 초내열합금 정밀 주조의 주조 및 열처리 미세조직에 구성되는 성분 편석 현상 (Segregation Phenomenon of As-Cast and Heat Treatment Microstructures in Investment Casting of IN738LC Superalloy)

  • The effect of solidification rate on micro-segregation in investment casting of IN738LC superalloy was studied. In Ni-based superalloys, the micro-segregation of solute atoms is formed due to limited diffusion during cast and solidification. The microstructure of cast Ni-based superalloys is largely divided into dendrite core of initial solidification and interdendrite of final solidification. In particular, mosaic shaped eutectic γ/γ' and carbides are formed in the interdendrite of the final solidification region in some cases. The micro-segregation phenomena formed in regions of dendrite core and interdendrite including eutectic γ/γ' and carbides were analyzed using OM, SEM/EDS and micro Vickers hardness. As a result of analysis, the lack of (Cr, W) and the accumulation of Ti were measured in the eutectic γ/γ', and the accumulation of (Cr, Mo) and the lack of Ti were measured in the interdendrite between dendrite and eutectic. Carbides formed in interdendritic region were composed of (Ti, W, Mo, C). The segregation applied to each microstructure is mainly due to the formation of γ' with Ni3(Al,Ti) composition. The Ni accumulation accompanied by Cr depletion, and the Ti accumulated in the eutectic region as a γ' forming elements. The Mo tends to diffuse out from the dendrite core to the interdendrite, and the W diffuse out from the interdendrite to the dendrite core. Therefore, the accumulation of Mo in the interdendrite and the deficiency of W occur in the eutectic region located in the interdendrite. Heat treatment makes the degree of the micro-segregation decrease due to the diffusion during solid solution. This study could be applied to the heat treatment technology for the micro-segregation control in cast Ni-based superalloys.

AZ91 마그네슘 합금의 PEO 피막 형성거동에 미치는 HF전처리의 영향 (Effect of pre-treatment of AZ91 Mg alloy in HF solution on PEO film formation behavior)

  • This study demonstrates formation behavior and morphological changes of PEO (Plasma Electrolytic Oxidation) films on AZ91 Mg alloy as a function of pre-treatment time in 1 M HF solution at 25 ± 1 ℃. The electrochemical behavior and morphological changes of AZ91 Mg alloy in the pre-treatment solution were also investigated with pre-treatment time. The PEO films were formed on the pre-treated AZ91 Mg alloy specimen by the application of anodic current 100 mA/cm2 of 300 Hz AC in 0.1 M NaOH + 0.4 M Na2SiO3 solution. Vigorous generation of hydrogen bubbles were observed upon immersion in the pre-treatment solution and its generation rate decreased with immersion time. It was also found that 𝛽-Mg17Al12 in AZ91 Mg alloy was dissolved and a protective thin film of MgF2 was formed on the AZ91 Mg alloy surface during the pre-treatment process in the 1 M HF solution. PEO film did not grow on the AZ91 Mg alloy specimen when the surface was not pre-treated and irregular PEO films with nodular defects were formed for the specimens pre-treated up to 1 min. Uniform PEO films were formed when the AZ91 Mg alloy specimen was pre-treated more than 3 min. The growth rate of PEO films on AZ91 Mg alloy increased significantly with increasing pre-treatment time.

냉간압연접합된 층상 AA6061/AA5052/AA6061/AA5052 알루미늄합금판재의 미세조직 및 기계적 성질 (Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Cold Roll-Bonded Layered AA6061/AA5052/AA6061/AA5052 Aluminum Alloy Sheet)

  • A cold roll-bonding process is applied to fabricate an AA6061/AA5052/AA6061/AA5052 layered sheet. Two AA6061 and one AA5052 sheets of 2mm thickness, 40mm width and 300mm length are alternately stacked, then reduced to a thickness of 2.0 mm by multi-pass cold rolling after surface treatment such as degreasing and wire brushing. The rolling is performed at ambient temperature without lubricant using a 2-high mill with a roll diameter of 400 mm at a rolling speed of 6.0 m/sec. The roll-bonded AA6061/AA5052/AA6061/AA5052 layered sheet is then hardened by natural aging (T4) and artificial aging (T6) treatments. The microstructure of the as-roll bonded and the age-hardened Al sheets was revealed by SEM observation; the mechanical properties were investigated by tensile testing and hardness testing. After T4 and T6 aging treatment, the specimens had a recrystallization structure consisting of coarse equiaxed grains in both AA5052 and AA6061 regions. The as-roll-bonded specimen showed a clad structure in which the hardness of AA5052 regions was higher than that of AA6061 regions. However, after T4 and T6 aging treatment, specimens exhibited different structures, with hardness of AA6061 regions higher than that of AA5052 regions. Strengths of T6 and T4 age-treated specimens were found to increase by 1.55 and 1.36 times, respectively, compared to the value of the starting material.

티타늄 합금, 지르코니아, 폴리에테르에테르케톤 지대주 재질에 따른 임플란트 구성요소의 응력분포: 유한 요소 분석을 통한 비교 연구 (Stress distribution in implant abutment components made of titanium alloy, zirconia, and polyetheretherketone: a comparative study using finite element analysis)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to analyze the stress distribution and deformation in implant abutments made from titanium (Ti-6Al-4V), zirconia, and polyetheretherketone (PEEK), including their screws and fixtures, under various loading conditions using finite element analysis (FEA). Methods: Three-dimensional models of the mandible with implant abutments were created using Siemens NX software (NX10.0.0.24, Siemens). FEA was conducted using Abaqus to simulate occlusal loads and assess stress distribution and deformation. Material properties such as Young's modulus and Poisson's ratio were assigned to each component based on literature and experimental data. Results: The FEA results revealed distinct stress distribution patterns among the materials. Titanium alloy abutments exhibited the highest stress resistance and the most uniform stress distribution, making them highly suitable for long-term stability. Zirconia abutments showed strong mechanical properties with higher stress concentration, indicating potential vulnerability to fracture despite their aesthetic advantages. PEEK abutments demonstrated the least stress resistance and higher deformation compared to other abutment materials, but offered superior shock absorption, though they posed a higher risk of mechanical failure under high load conditions. Conclusion: The study emphasizes the importance of selecting appropriate materials for dental implants. Titanium offers durability and uniform stress distribution, making it highly suitable for long-term stability. Zirconia provides aesthetic benefits but has a higher risk of fracture compared to titanium. PEEK excels in shock absorption but has a higher risk of mechanical failure compared to both titanium and zirconia. These insights can guide improved implant designs and material choices for various clinical needs.

PVD법에 의해 Mg 코팅된 갈바륨 도금강판의 단면부 내식특성 (Anti-corrosion properties for cross section of Mg films on galvalume steel coated by PVD process)

  • 갈바륨 도금강판은 알루미늄의 우수한 차폐 특성과 내열성, 열 반사성을 가지며 아연의 희생방식 특성을 겸비하여 동일 부착량의 용융 아연도금 및 알루미늄 도금강판에 비해 우수한 내식성을 나타낸다고 알려져 있다. 또한 이것은 표면이 미려하고 경제성이 높아 건자재 용도로 현재까지도 세계적으로 널리 이용되고 있다. 여기서 지칭하는 바륨 도금강판(galvalume steel)은 아연과 알루미늄 도금강판의 장점을 접목하기 위해 55 Al-43.4 Zn-1.6 Si (wt.%)로 구성되어 개발된 3원계 성분의 합금도금강판이다. 한편, 최근에는 강재의 내식성을 향상시키기 위한 다양한 연구 결과에 의해 Zn-Al-Mg의 3원계 합금도금강판도 개발되어 사용되고 있다. 이것은 기존의 아연도금 강판 보다 10배 정도의 우수한 내식성을 나타내는 것으로 보고되고 있다. 특히, 이것은 도금된 평판부의 내식성은 물론 절단된 도금 단면부의 내식성도 매우 우수하다고 알려져 있다. 그러나 상기한 갈바륨 도금강판의 경우에는 도금된 표면부에 비해 단면부의 내식성이 상대적으로 취약한 것으로 알려져 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 갈바륨 도금강판의 내식성을 종합적으로 향상시키기 위하여 이 갈바륨 도금강판 상에 PVD 스퍼터링법에 의해 Mg 코팅막의 제작을 시도하였다. 여기서 Mg 코팅막은 후처리 된 갈바륨 도금강판 상에 Ar 공정압력 2 및 20 mTorr 조건 중 1.5 및 $3{\mu}m$ 두께로 제작하였다. 또한 제작한 코팅막에 대해서는 모폴로지 관찰(SEM) 및 결정구조 분석(XRD)을 하였고, 분극측정, 염수분무 시험(SST) 및 복합부식 시험(CCT)에 의해 표면 및 단면부의 내식성평가를 수행하였다. 또한 여기서는 염수분무 및 복합부식 시험 후의 시험편도 채취 하여 표면 및 단면부위에 대한 원소조성 분석(EPMA)과 결정구조 분석(XRD)을 실시하였다. 이상의 실험 결과에 의하면, 본 실험에서 제작한 Mg 코팅막은 그 두께가 두꺼울수록 표면 Mg 결정립의 크기가 증가하였고, 그 부식속도가 증가하는 경향을 나타내었다. 또한 여기서는 공정압력이 높은 조건에서 제작한 막일수록 Mg(002)면 피크 강도가 감소하고 Mg(101)면 피크의 배향성이 증가하였다. 그때 그 막의 내식성은 향상되는 경향을 나타내었다. 그리고 종합적으로 염수분무 및 복합부식 시험 결과에 의하면 Mg이 코팅된 갈바륨 도금강판은 기존 갈바륨 도금강판 보다 내식성이 현저히 향상되었다. 특히, 단면부 내식성의 경우에는 기존 대비 5배 이상 향상되는 경향을 나타내었다. 여기서 단면부 내식특성 분석을 위한 EPMA 원소조성 분석 결과에 의거하면, 부식 초기에는 마그네슘의 부식생성물에 의해 단면부가 치밀하게 보호되고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 그 이후에는 부식이 지속적으로 진행됨에 따라 갈바륨 도금층에서 용출된 알루미늄 및 아연 성분이 마그네슘과 함께 치밀한 부식생성물을 형성하여 단면부를 차폐함에 따라 단면부의 내식성이 크게 향상된 것으로 생각된다. 이러한 부식생성물의 결정구조 분석 결과에 따르면, 염수분무와 복합부식 시험에서는 공통적으로 MgO, $Mg(OH)_2$ 이외에도 Simonkolleite상 등이 형성되었다. 또한 건-습 반복 부식시험인 복합부식시험 후에는 $Mg_5(CO_3)_4(OH)_24H_2O$(Hydromagnesite)상 등이 형성됨을 확인할 수 있었다. 즉, 본 실험에서 후처리된 갈바륨 도금강판 상에 제작한 마그네슘 코팅막의 경우에는 상기와 같은 다양한 부식반응에 의해 표면 및 단면부에 형성된 Mg계 부식생성물과 $Zn_5(OH)_8Cl_2H_2O$(Simonkolleite)상에 의해서 표면은 물론 단면부 내식성이 크게 향상된 것으로 사료된다.

Al 7075 합금의 크리이프 파단수명에 관한 연구( I ) (A Study on the Creep Fracture Life of Al 7075 alloy( I ))

  • High temperature tensile tests, steady state creep tests, Internal stress tests and creep rupture tests using A17075 alloy( $T_{6}$ ) were performed over the temperature range of 9$0^{\circ}C$~50$0^{\circ}C$ (0.4 $T_{m}$ ~0.85 $T_{m}$ ) and stress range of 0.64~17.2(kgf/$\textrm{mm}^2$). The main results obtained in this paper were as follows. (1) The activation energies for yielding at the temperature of 0.4 $T_{m}$ ~0.75 $T_{m}$ were calculated to be 25.7~36.5kcal/mol, which were nearly equal to the activation energies for creep. (2) At around the temperature of 9$0^{\circ}C$~12$0^{\circ}C$ and under the stress level of 10~17.2(kgf/$\textrm{mm}^2$), and at around the temperature of 200~41$0^{\circ}C$ and under the stress level of 1.53~9.55(kgf/$\textrm{mm}^2$) and again at around the temperature of 470~50$0^{\circ}C$ and under the stress level of 0.62~l.02(kgf/$\textrm{mm}^2$), the applied stress dependence of steady state creep rate $n_{measu}$ measured were, respectively, 3.15, 6.62 and 1.1, which were in good agreement the calculated stress dependence $n_{ealeu}$ obtained by the difference of the applied stress dependence of the Internal stress and the ratio of the internal stress to the applied stress. (3) At the temperature range of 0.4~0.43 $T_{m}$ , and at the temperature range of 0.52~0.75 $T_{m}$ and again at the temperature range of 0.82~0.85 $T_{m}$ , the activation energies $Q_{measu}$ obtained by steady state creep rate, respective, 26. 16, 34.9, 36.2 and 36.1kcal/mol, which were in good agreement with those obtained with the activation energies under constant effective stress and the temperature dependence of Internal stress. (4) At the temperature range of the 0.52~0.73 $T_{m}$ and under the stress level of 1.53~9.55(kgf/$\textrm{mm}^2$), the stress dependence of rupture life(n’) measured was 6.3~6.6, which was in good agreement with the stress dependence of steady state creep rate(n). And at the same condition the activation energy for rupture( $Q_{f}$ ) measured was 32.0~36.9kca1/mol, which was also in good agreement with the activation energy obtained by steady state creep rate ( $Q_{c}$ ). (5) The rupture life( $t_{f}$ ) might be represented by athermal process attributed to the difference of the applied stress dependence of the internal stress and the ratio of the internal stress to the applied stress, and the thermal activated process attributied to the temperature dependence of the internal stress as $t_{f}$ = A'$\sigma$$_{a}$ {n(1-d $\sigma$$_{i}$ /d $\sigma$$_{a}$ )/(1-$\sigma$$_{i}$ / $\sigma$$_{a}$ )}.exp[{ $Q_{c}$ $^{*}$-( $n_{o}$ R $T^2$/ $E_{(T)}$) (d $E_{(T)}$/dT) - ( $n_{0}$ R $T^2$/ $\sigma$$_{a}$ - $\sigma$$_{i}$ ) (d $\sigma$$_{i}$ /dT)}/RT]. (6) The relationship betwween Larson-Miller rupture parameter and logarithmic stress was linearly decreased, so creep rupture life of Al 7075 alloy seemed to be predicted exactly with Larson-Miller parameter.meter.

유리반도체

  • 반도체와 그의 응용소자는 지난 20여년간 눈부식 발전을 이룩하였다. 이는 주로 단결정의 제작기술 진보에 의한 것으로 본다. 그러나 최근 단결정과는 전연 다른 유리질반도체가 국제회의에서도 그 우수성을 의논하기에 이르렀다. 유리질 반도체가 주목을 끌게 된겻은 1968년 Ovshinsky가 "무질서 구조에 있어서 가역적 스위칭현상"이라는 논문이 발표되고 유리질 반도체를 사용한 Ovonic 스위칭 소자의 출현에 기인된다. 유리질 반도체가 전기스위칭 작용, 기억작용을 나타낸다고 하는 Ovshinsky의 발표는 전자제치로서의 응용에 대해 찬반되는 의견이 있었지만 물성적 연구의 교량적인 역할을했다고 할 수 있다. 이런 반도체에 속하는 재료는 호칭도 여러가지로 유리질반도체, 비정질반도체 무정형반도체등으로 불리어진다. 단결정체가 각 격자간에 장거리질서를 갖는 반면 유리질 반도체는 무질서한 구조로 각 격자간에 단거리 질서를 갖는 것이 단결정과는 본질적으로 다른 점이라 본다. 유리 반도체의 종류는 첫째, 원소성 유리반도체로서 Ge, Si, Se, Te 들과 같이 단일원소로 된 겻과, 둘째 IV, V, VI족 원소로 된 공유결합 합금인 As$_{2}$Se$_{3}$-As$_{2}$Te$_{3}$ 계 Ge Si As Te계등의 칼코게나이드 유리등으로 금지대는 어느 것이나 2eV이하이다. 셋째 이론결합인 SiO $Al_{2}$O$_{3}$ Ta$_{2}$O$_{3}$Si$_{3}$N$_{4}$등의 산화물 및 질화물로 대표되는 분자성 비정질 물질로서 금지대는 2eV보다 큰 세종류로 크게 분류할 수 있다. 분류할 수 있다. 한다. 단 개개의 문제에 관한 구체적인 해석 또는 검토에 관하여는 다음 기회에 미루기로하고, 우선 여기서는 당면문제로서 대처하지 않으면 안될 자동주파수제어문제및 계통의 경제운용문제만에 한정하여, 이것을 우리나라의 현상과 관련시켜 개설하고, 이들의 자동화에 관한 기본적인 문제를 간단히 적어 보겠다. 가능하다. 제작완료된 ASIC은 기능시험을 완료했으며 실제 line-of-sight(LOS) 시스템 구현에 적용중이다. 시대를 살아 갈 회원들이다.
