  • Arc-melted Ti-6Al-4V, Ti-4Fe and Ti-(1,2) Si alloys were oxidized at 700, 800, 900 and $1000^{\circ}C$ in air. The oxidation resistance of Ti-4Fe was comparable to that of Ti-6Al-4V, while the oxidation resistance of Ti-(1,2) Si was superior to that of Ti-6Al-4V. Ti-2Si displayed the best oxidation resistance among the four alloys, but failed after oxidation at $1000^{\circ}C$ for 17h. The oxide scale formed on Ti-6Al-4V, Ti-4Fe and Ti-(1,2)Si consisted of ($TiO_2$ and a small amount of $Al_2$$O_3$), ($TiO_2$ and a small amount of dissolved iron), and ($TiO_2$ plus a small concentration of amorphous $SiO_2$), respectively. The oxide grains of the surface scale of the four alloys were generally fine and round.

$Al_2O_3-TiC$의 마찰 및 마모특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Friction and Wear Characteristics of $Al_2O_3-TiC$)

  • Friction and wear behavior of hot isostatic pressed $Al_2O_3-TiC$ was experimentally examined. Pin-on-disk type friction and wear apparatus was designed and manufactured for the experiment. The experiments were conducted under unlubricated sliding motion in both low and high humidity for three kinds of sliding speed. $Al_2O_3-TiC$ and bearing steel were used as counterface materials. Friction coefficient, wear rate, and surface roughness were measured. Wear surface and wear debris were observed through optical microscope and SEM and analyzed by EDAX. The results showed that the counterface materials, the sliding speed, and the moisture at the sliding surface have significant influence on the friction coefficient and wear rate of $Al_2O_3-TiC$.

브레이징 온도 변화에 따른 $ZrO_2$와 Ti-6Al-4V의 접합 특성 (Brazing characteristics of $ZrO_2$ and Ti-6Al-4V brazed joints with increasing temperature)

  • 연구 목적: 온도 변화에 따른 $ZrO_2$와 Ti-6Al-4V의 접합 특성에 대해 알아보기 위하여 새로운 브레이징 합금을 제조하고, 브레이징 온도가 접합 특성에 미치는 영향에 대하여 조사하고자 하였다. 연구 재료 및 방법: 본 연구에서 사용된 시편으로는 실험용 $ZrO_2$ 모재(ZirBlank-PS, Acucera, Inc., Gyeonggi-do, Korea)는 소결 전의 블록형태($65mm{\times}36mm{\times}12mm(t)$)이며, 이를 잘라 사포(#2400)로 표면연마 후 소결하였다. 소결된 $ZrO_2$ 시편의 크기는 $3mm{\times}3mm{\times}3mm(t)$이다. Ti-6Al-4V 모재(Ti 6Al 4V ELI CG Bar, TMS, Washington, USA)는 직경 $10mm{\times}5mm(t)$를 사용하였다. 소결된 $ZrO_2$와 Ti-6Al-4V의 접합을 위하여 브레이징 합금을 제조하였다. 시편을 3군으로 나누어 A군은 $700^{\circ}C$에서, B군은 $750^{\circ}C$에서, C군은 $800^{\circ}C$에서 각각 브레이징 하였다. 브레이징 부의 두께와 결함율의 측정은 각 군당 하나의 시편으로 각 시편 당 5회씩 반복 측정하여 평균값을 취하였다. 결과: 브레이징 합금을 사용하여 진공 브레이징을 수행한 결과 $ZrO_2$ 와 Ti-6Al-4V 는 $700^{\circ}C-800^{\circ}C$에서 양호한 접합을 보였다. 브레이징 후 브레이징 온도 변화에 따른 브레이징 부의 두께 및 결함율의 변화는 SEM을 사용하여 측정하였다. 브레이징 온도가 $700^{\circ}C$에서 $800^{\circ}C$로 증가함에 따라 CuTi 금속간 화합물 층 및 Ti-Sn-Cu-Ag계 화합물 층의 두께는 각각 $4.5{\mu}m$에서 $10.3{\mu}m$로, $3.1{\mu}m$에서 $5.0{\mu}m$로 증가되었다. 또한 브레이징 온도가 $700^{\circ}C$에서 $800^{\circ}C$로 증가함에 따라 브레이징 접합계면의 결함율은 $ZrO_2$ 및 Ti-6Al-4V 계면에서 각각 25%에서 16.3%, 5%에서 1.5%로 감소되었다. 결론: 브레이징 온도가 $700^{\circ}C$에서 $800^{\circ}C$로 증가됨에 따라, 브레이징 접합계면의 결함율은 $ZrO_2$ 및 Ti-6Al-4V 계면에서 모두 감소되었다. 이는 결함부에서 $ZrO_2$와 활성원소인 Ti과의 반응이 충분히 일어나지 않아서 브레이징 합금이 $ZrO_2$에 웨팅되지 않은 것이 원인이라고 사료된다.

Ti(Al,O)/$Al_2O_3$ 플라즈마 코팅한 SS41의 고온산화 거동 (High Temperature Oxidation Behavior of Plasma-sprayed Ti(Al,O)/$Al_2O_3$ Coatings on SS41 Steel)

  • High velocity oxy-fuel (HVOF) spraying was used to coat Ti(Al,O)/$Al_2O_3$ powder onto the SS41 steel plate. Macrostructure of the coated specimen has been investigated by scanning electron micrograph (SEM). High temperature oxidation behavior of the coated specimen and SS41 steel have been studied. From the results of SEM observation, Ti(Al,O)/$Al_2O_3$ powder was coated well onto the substrate SS41 steel. Porosity onto the coated layer was only 0.38%. The oxidation results showed that Ti(Al,O)/$Al_2O_3$ powder coated SS41 steel have improved little oxidation resistance at $900^{\circ}C$ in air, but improved remarkably oxidation resistance at $800^{\circ}C $ in air compare to the substrate SS41 steel.

  • The alumina-titania composite powders coated with Al2O3 were prepared by the method of hydrolysis-deposition of mixed aluminium salt solution of Al2(SO)4-Al(NO3)3-Urea. The effects of coating-process parameters on the characteristics of coated composite powders were also investigated. As the content of TiO2 dispersed in deionized water increased, the coated composite powders were found to be more uniform in size and unagglomerated. When TiO2 powders were coated for 30 min, the optimum TiO2 content in the coating process was 400 mg/ι. The size of TiO2 particle was increased approximately from 0.7${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ to 1.0${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ through coating of Al2O3. The IEP of coated composite powders was pH=8.3 identical to the value of aluminium hydroxides and the zeta-potential showed nearly similar values each other. When heat treating coated composite powders at 130$0^{\circ}C$, only two phases of TiO2(rutile) and Al2TiO5 were observed. These results showed that the suface of TiO2 could be uniformly coated with the aluminium hydroxide.

금속 알콕사이드의 가수분해법으로 제조한 Al2O3-TiO2 복합옥사이드의 Co2+ 흡착 특성에 관한 연구 (Co2+ Adsorption Characteristics of Al2O3-TiO2 Composite Oxide Prepared by Hydrolysis of Metal Alkoxide)

  • 알루미늄 및 티타늄 알콕사이드의 가수분해방법을 인용하여 고온수중에 적용할 수 있는 $Al_2O_3-TiO_2$ 복합옥사이드형 흡착제를 제조하였다. 제조한 흡착제는 $600{\sim}1400^{\circ}C$의 온도로 하소되었으며, 결정전이, 열적 특성, 비표면적 등의 물성변화를 알아 보기 위하여 X선회절, 적외선분광분석, 열분석 전자현미경 관찰, BET 방법에 의한 측정 등을 수행하였다. 그리고 Autoclave를 이용한 회분식 흡착실험으로 이 흡착제들의 $TiO_2$ 함량 및 하소 온도 변화에 따르는 고온수중에서의 $Co^{2+}$ 흡착 특성을 알아 보았다. $150{\sim}250^{\circ}C$의 온도 범위에서 $Al_2O_3-TiO_2$ 흡착제의 $Co^{2+}$ 흡착반응에 대한 표준 엔탈피 변화값은 $TiO_2$ 함량이 26mol%, 43mol%, 80mol%에 대하여 $16.5{\sim}26.0kJ{\cdot}mol^{-1}$범위에 있었으며, 이 흡착반응이 비가역적인 흡열반응임을 알 수 있었다. $250^{\circ}C$의 고온수에서 하소 온도가 $600^{\circ}C$, $TiO_2$함량이 26mol%인 흡착제의 코발트 평형흡착용량은 $0.1674meq{\cdot}g^{-1}$이었다.

Ti-43%Al-2%W-0.1%Si 합금의 고온산화 (High Temperature Oxidation of Ti-43%Al-2%W-0.1%Si Alloys)

  • Alloys of Ti-43%Al-2%W-0.1%Si were oxidized isothermally and cyclically between $900^{\circ}C$ and$ 1050^{\circ}C$, and their oxidation characteristics were studied. During isothermal tests, the alloys oxidized slowly up to 100$0^{\circ}C$, but fast at $1050^{\circ}C$. Though the scale adherence was not good above $900^{\circ}C$, the alloys displayed better oxidation behavior than unalloyed TiAl alloys. The oxide scales consisted primarily of an outer $TiO_2$ layer, intermediate $Al_2$$O_3$-rich layer, and an inner mixed layer of (TiO$_2$ $+Al_2$$O_3$). Tungsten was present mainly at the lower part of the oxide scale, while Si over the whole oxide scale.

TiO2세라믹 전극의 광전기화학 변화에 미치는 첨가제 Al2O3와 Surface Roughness의 영향 (Influence of Dopant Al2O3 and Surface Roughness on the photoelectrochemical Conversion of TiO2 Ceramic Electrodes)

  • The effects of dopant Al2O3 and surface roughness on the photoelectrochemical conversion of TiO2 ceramic electrodes were investigated. The photocurrent increased with increasing the amount of dopant Al2O3 up to 0.1wt% and 0.05wt% in the specimens reduced at 700$^{\circ}C$ and 800$^{\circ}C$, respectively, and then decreased. However, the photoresponse appeared around 415 nm, which very closely corresponds to the energy band gap of TiO2(∼3.0eV), regardless of reduction temperature and the amount of Al2O3. And the photocurrent increased with increasing surface roughness in the undoped TiO2 ceramic electrode.

  • Quaternary TiZrAlN nanocomposite thin films with a composition of 20.7Ti-22.2Zr-2.7Al-54.4N (at.%) were deposited by the closed-field unbalanced magnetron sputtering (CFUBMS) method and oxidized in air at temperatures between 500 and $700^{\circ}C$. The oxides formed were $TiO_2$, $ZrO_2$, and $Al_2O_3$. The films had inferior oxidation resistance because the amounts of $ZrO_2$ and $TiO_2$ were large while the amount of $Al_2O_3$ was small. The oxidation progressed primarily by the inward diffusion of oxygen and the outward diffusion of nitrogen.

상압소결을 위한 $SiC-TiB_2$ 전도성 세라믹 복합체의 제조와 특성 (Manufacture and Properties of $SiC-TiB_2$Electroconductive Ceramic Composites for Pressureless Sintering)

  • The mechanical and electrical properties of the hot-pressed and pressureless annealed SiC+39vol.%$TiB_2$electroconductive ceramic composites were investigated as a function of the liquid additives of $Al_2O_3+Y_2O_3$. The result of phase analysis for the SiC+39vol.%$TiB_2$composites by XRD revealed $\alpha$-SiC(6H), $TiB_2$, and $YAG(Al_5Y_3O_{12})4 crystal phase. The relative density of SiC+39vol.%$TiB_2$ composites was increased with increased $Al_2O_3+Y_2O_3$. contents. The fracture toughness showed the highest value of $7.8 MPa.m^{1/2}$ for composites added with 12 wt % $Al_2O_3+Y_2O_3$. additives at room temperature. The electrical resistivity and the resistance temperature coefficient showed the lowest value of $7.3\times10_{-4}\Omega.cm\; and\; 3.8\times10_{-3}/^{\circ}C$ for composite added with 12 wt% $Al_2O_3+Y_2O_3$. additives at room temperature. The electrical resistivity of the SiC+39vol.%$TiB_2$composites was all positive temperature coefficient resistance(PTCR) in the temperature ranges from $25^{\circ}C\; to\; 700^{\circ}C$.
