Baseline 탐사를 이용한 항공 방사능 탐사 자료 맞추기 (Leveling the Gamma-ray Spectrometric Data using Baseline Survey)

  • 한국지질자원연구원은 1982년부터 전국토를 대상으로 하는 장기 프로젝트인 항공 방사능 탐사 연구를 통하여 Total, K, U, Th 등의 4가지 방사능도를 지속적으로 작성, 발간하고 있으며, 머지않아 전국토에 대한 방사능 원소 이상도를 작성, 완료할 수 있을 것이다. 그러나 탐사 기간이 너무 길고, 탐사 조건이 일정하지 않아서 자료들이 물리적 의미에서 일관성이 부족하며, 더욱이 방사성 원소 K, U, Th들의 함량이 아니라 기계값인 count/sec로 표현되어 있어 자료들을 하나로 취합할 수 없으며, 국제 표준을 충족하지 못하므로 자료의 신뢰성이 낮고 유용성과 활용성이 제한적이다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위하여 인접한 두 도폭인 진천과 음성 지역에서 자료 맞춤(leveling)을 위한 baseline 시험탐사를 하였다. baseline 탐사에 의한 맞춤으로 조정된 방사능 원소 함량도는 절대적 의미를 갖는 단위의 방사능도이며, International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)의 국제 표준에 부합하는 자료로 변환되었기 때문에 표준적 자료로서 신뢰성이 높아졌다. 이 연구 과제를 통하여 마련된 자료 맞추기의 방법과 절차는 보유하고 있는 모든 방사능 자료를 표준화하고, 국제 기준에 부합시킴으로써 자료의 질과 신뢰성을 높이고 자료의 유용성과 활용성을 크게 향상시킬 것이며, 한국의 방사능 함량도를 취합, 발간할 수 있을 것이다.

지하환경의 대기오염물질 규제에 관한 조사연구 (A Survey of the Air Quality in Underground Environment)

  • The underground living spaces have become one of the major environment of this decade in urban area. This study was carried out to examine contamination level for purpose of preservation of the pleasant underground environment. Three subway stations and three underground shopping centers in Seoul and two underground shopping centers in Busan were selected and surveyed by measuring gaseous pollutants $(SO_2,\; NO_2,\;CO,\;HC,\; HCHO,\;CO_2)$, dust, airborne microbes, and the other air condtions (temperature, humidity, air pressure, air flow, kata cooling power). These examined data were compared with four kinds of standard (building sanitation management, room air quality standards, occupational safety and health standards, ventilation equipment) as environmental hygiene.

의료기관의 결핵감염관리 현황 (Status of Tuberculosis Infection Control in Hospitals)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the status of tuberculosis (TB) infection control in hospitals. Method: This study was a cross-sectional descriptive study in which self-administered questionnaires were used to survey 77 hospitals. Data were collected from August 12 to September 15, 2012. Results: Only 27 institutions (35.1%) were monitoring patients infected with or suspected of having TB. Most hospitals were conducting TB prevention education for patients' family and employees, and TB screening for employees along with follow-up examinations. However, private negative pressure rooms were more often available in wards and intensive care units than in outpatient departments, and in institutions with over 700 beds located in Seoul or GyeongGi Province. Most hospitals ensured that masks were placed on infected patients while transporting them. In addition, efforts to control TB infection such as placing respiratory etiquette posters in outpatient departments and airborne infection signs on the doors in the wards were also well established in most institutions. Conclusion: More efforts are needed to improve the status of TB infection control to ensure quality care, especially in terms of monitoring patients with TB infections and making private negative pressure rooms available in outpatient departments.

서울시 지하철역내의 라돈 농도분포 및 저감대책 (Concentration Distributions and A Reduction Strategy of Airborne Radon in Seoul Metropolitan Subway Stations)

  • Indoor radon has been known as one of the notorious carcinogens. However, a safe environmental criterion of radon has not yet been established in Korea, The main objectives of this study were to study concentration distributions of radon, to trace radon sources in subways, and to obtain a strategy for radon reduction in Seoul metropolitan area. Radon concentrations had been extensively determined by several steps. The first step was to survey radon levels in all of 83 subway stations from October to November in 1991. The second step was to select 40 out of 83 stations and then to study seasonal variations in 1991 and 1992. The third step was to monitor radon levels by hourly-basis plans. The fourth step was to seek a radon reduction strategy by altering ventilation at Ankuk station where had the highest radon concentration during the first measurement step. Each underground floor in the station was divided into 10 sites to measure hourly radon variations. The final step of the study was to measure radon concentrations in groundwater that is one of the possible main sources radon place. The result of the various measuring approaches showed short-and long-term radon variation and indicated radon reduction schemes.

Open Source Remote Sensing of ORFEO Toolbox and Its Connection to Database of PostGIS with NIX File Importing

  • In recent, interests regarding open source software for geo-spatial processing are increasing. Open source remote sensing (OSRS) is regarded as one of the progressing and advanced fields in remote sensing. Nevertheless, analyses or application cases regarding OSRS are not enough for general uses or references. In this study, three kinds of OSRS software in consideration of international popularity, types of functionalities, and development environments are taken into account: OSSIM, Opticks, and ORFEO Toolbox (OTB). First, functional comparison with respect to these is carried out on the level of the preliminary survey. According to this investigation, OTB is chosen as the most applicable OSRS software in this study. Running on OTB, NIX format importing module and database connecting module are implemented for widely general uses and further application. As for an example case, airborne image of NIX format is used to region growing segmentation algorithm in OTB, and then the results are stored and retrieved in PostGIS database to test implemented modules. Conclusively, local customization and algorithm development using OSRS software are necessary to build on-demand applications from the developers' viewpoint.

해안림 내부의 지형측량을 통한 충남 다사리 해안사구의 형태적 특징 (Morphological Characteristics of Forested Coastal Dune Areas Using Direct Topographic Surveys: A Case Study in Dasari, Chungnam)

  • Planting trees is a very common practice in the coastal dunefields of South Korea as a way to stabilize dune landscapes and protect inland residential areas from strong winds and blown sands. On the other hand, disturbing the original foredune environment may deteriorate the ability of coastal landsto recover from coastal erosion after storms, causing a retreat of coastline. However, there is little information of this sort on the surface of forested dunefields. Airborne LiDAR or drone-based mapping is not easily applicable in such areas. In this study, we developed a digital terrain model of Dasari dunefields, Chungnam Province, based on direct topographic surveys with real-time kinematic GPS and total stations. We also analyzed previous two aerial photographs taken in 1947 and 1966, in order to detect an older landforms of the dunefields. Results suggested that there have been little changes in geomorphology of the Dasari dunefields for the last 50 years, despite continued tree plantings. Today, there are remains of U-shaped structures such as blowouts and parabolic dunes in the dunefields.

  • 최근 내성천에서는 오래도록 유지되어 온 하천 경관이 식생의 활착에 의해 바뀌어 가고 있다. 이러한 변화의 양상과 원인을 분석하기 위해 한국건설기술연구원에서는 내성천 56.8 km 구간에 대한 장기 모니터링 연구를 수행하고 있다. 2012년부터 2016년까지 얻은 연속적인 항공 라이다 데이터를 이용하여 사주와 같은 하도 형상의 변화를 탐지할 수 있었다. 지난 4년간의 모니터링 경과 직선 구간에서 하중 사주의 형성이 있었으며, 기존의 사주들은 식생 활착된 표면에서의 퇴적에 의해 수직적인 퇴적이 발생하는 변화가 야기되었다.

  • Flight data from operational quality assurance programs plays a significant role in identifying factors as one of the key data in the development of proactive and preventive aviation safety management technologies based on data. The list of events in the flight quality assurance program recommended by the FAA differs from the list set and managed by airlines themselves and is based on the frequency of occurrence rather than the severity of individual events. In this work, we compared the list of FOQA events presented by the FAA with the list of some domestic airlines. We also investigate the severity priorities of events for airline captains and conduct research on how to improve the operation of the operational quality assurance program.

광대역대 활성광촉매를 활용한 융·복합 구조 공기살균정화장치 개발 (Development of air-sterilization purification system of fusion and composite structure using broadband-to-active photocatalyst)

  • 현대인들은 가정, 학교 혹은 직장, 병원, 쇼핑몰, 지하철역과 객실, 주차장 등 일상생활의 대부분을 실내에서 보내게 된다. 이렇듯 실내에 갇힌 현대인들은 갇힌 공기 속에서 살아갈 수밖에 없다. 이에 실내 공기질 향상을 위한 공기정화장치는 많이 개발되었으나 대다수의 공기정화장치는 필터에 의한 필터링과 유해세균 살균방식에 있어 자외선이라는 제한된 영역에서의 살균방식에 국한 할 수밖에 없었다. 여기서는 실내 공기질 향상은 물론 원천적으로 실내공기중의 부유 세균을 제거하고, 자외선뿐만 아니라 가시광선에서도 활동하는 광촉매를 적용한 미디어광촉매필터를 활용한 광대역대 활성광촉매를 활용한 융 복합 구조 공기살균정화장치 개발하고자 한다.

일부 산업보건관련 기관의 분석실험실 안전보건에 관한 실태와 대책 (A Survey and Recommendation on Safety and Health for Occupational Health Laboratories)

  • This study was conducted at occupational health laboratories in Seoul and Gyunggi district area from December, 1999 to January, 2000. The main purpose of this study was to survey the actual condition of safety and health by questionnaire and checklist and to assess the performance of fume hoods and the airborne exposures to chemicals in the laboratories. The chemicals in the cabinet were not classified by hazardous properties and the compressed gases were not stored safely. The prevalences of laboratories having first aid kits, fire extinguishers, and safety showers were found to be 18%, 55%, and 9%, respectively. Most laboratory workers were not educated for safety and health. Also, there was no performance evaluation for hazards and risks. The fume hoods in laboratories had not been annually inspected by checklist and the face velocity had been checked more than one time in the previous year for only 18% of them. Five percent of fume hoods had the face velocity more than 4.0 m/sec and 17% had no capture performance. Detected organic solvents were methylenechloride, acetone, ethylbenzene, isopropanol, xylene, methylisobutylketone, trichloroethylene, and toluene. The concentrations of organic solvents were much less than the occupational exposure limits proposed by the Ministry of Labor in Korea. This study showed that the actual condition of safety and health was not appropriate for laboratory workers. It is recommended that laboratory workers should be educated for the treatment and storage of hazardous chemicals and compressed gases to improve the working environment of the occupational safety and health laboratories.
