  • Wireless sensors have been developed in numerous ways for enhancing the convenience of installation, management and maintenance of sensors. Energy harvesting wireless sensors, which can collect energy from the external environment for permanent usage without the need of recharging and exchanging batteries, have been developed and employed used in Internet of Things and at various industrial sites. Energy harvesting wireless sensors are significantly affected by the sensor lifespan to sudden variation in the external environment. Furthermore, reduction in the sensor operating timespan can greatly affect the characteristics of the devices connected through a network. In this paper, a system performance index is proposed that can comprehensively evaluate the lifespan of a solar cell wireless sensor, determine the characteristics of devices connected to the associated network, and recommend dynamic power distribution control for improving the system performance index. Improvement in the system performance index was verified by applying the proposed dynamic power distribution control to an air conditioner network system using a solar cell wireless sensor. Obtained results corroborate that the dynamic power distribution control can extend the lifespan of the incorporated wireless sensor and reduce the air conditioner's power consumption.

  • 2 K superfluid helium cryogenic system is the crucial component of many large accelerators. When the cryogenic system is operating at 2K@3129Pa, many room-temperature parts are connected to superfluid helium via tubes. Air Leakage in these connections may lead to air contamination of the cryogenic system. Air contamination may cause equipment failure in cryogenic systems and, in extreme cases, render the entire accelerator system inoperable. Helium guard is a technique that guards against air contamination of these sub-atmospheric pressure connections in 2 K superfluid helium cryogenic system. This paper introduces a typical 2 K cryogenic distribution design for large accelerators, and make risk analysis of air contamination. Finally, the analysis of specific leakage points and detailed engineering design are presented, which may be used as a reference when designing of a 2 K superfluid helium cryogenic distribution system.

  • It is common to design the duct branches where to supply the required air flow for individual room in residential apartment house. However it is difficult to adjust the air volume adequately in small air duct branches in residential ventilation system. The purpose of this study is to figure out the performance of Multidrop chamber coupling system for the residential ventilation system. The experiments were designed to simulate apartment of $84m^2$ and established multidrop chamber duct and general duct on the ceiling of the apartment. Distribution performance of air supply rate were evaluated in this experiments. As a result, distribution performance of air supply rate in the general duct is different from designed air supply rate by about 35% ~ 50% and about 10% in the multidrop chamber system. In additional the sound insulation performance of the multidrop chamber system decreased about 20% compared with general duct system. Therefore, the multidrop chamber system is considered to satisfy proper air supply rate of each room and to improve the sound insulation performance in apartment Houses.

  • In the mechanical ventilation system, it is a fundamental condition to distribute the air equally to the each room. In this study, distribution performance of the air distributor which generally connected to a circular duct was investigated by simulation and experiment. In the first CFD analysis, maximum air flow rate deviation was an 63% in the air distributor model. After numbers of model modification and simulation, maximum flow rate deviation was reduced to 19% in the final simulation model. An air distributor which used in the experiment was produced by using data obtained from the final analysis. When experimental result was compared with analysis result, there was a deviation difference as much as 9%.

  • Despite the fact that UFAD(Under Floor Air Distribution) systems have many benefits and are being applied in the field in increasing numbers, there is a strong need for an improved fundamental understanding of several key performance features of these systems. This study numerically investigates the effect of supplied air temperature and supplied flow rate on the performance of UFAD, especially focused on thermal comfort. Also this study has compared UFAD with conventional overhead air distribution system. In contrast to the well-mixed room air conditions of the conventional overheat system, UFAD system produces an overall floor-to-ceiling airflow pattern that takes advantage of the natural buoyancy produced by heat sources in the occupied zone and more efficiently removes heat loads and contaminants from the space. Thermal comfort parameters were evaluated by CFD approach and then PMV was computed to detect the occupants' thermal sensation. Results show that radiative mean temperature plays crucial role on the evaluating PMV. Until now, the radiative temperature has been the missing link between CFD and thermal comfort, but the present study paves the way for overcoming this weakness.

  • The HVAC and the air duct is to make optimal indoor environment. By the HVAC position, method and the air duct construction, the important elements can affect on cooling performance, passengers' convenience, and energy efficiency. According to this, there are features, such as the indoor temperature distribution, cooling performance, velocity distribution from diffuser, tend to be come out variously. Also, comparing and analysing temperature distribution, cooling performance, air velocity, noise based on the real practical vehicle tests, it shows features in detail. Besides, it can lead to make design the system of HVAC & air duct effectively.

  • This paper presents some design guidelines for using cold air/water distribution to cool commercial and industrial buildings. Cold air /water distribution systems provide primary air/water for space conditioning at nominal temperature between $3^{\circ}C$ and $10^{\circ}C$ ($4{\sim}5^{\circ}C$ might be recommendable for better selection). By using lower temperature primary air/water equipment could be downsized, means lower first costs, and often reduce annual energy costs up to 50% less than that of the conventional ($13^{\circ}C$) system. This concept takes full advantages of the $2{\sim}4^{\circ}C$ chilled water (brine) available with ice storate systems.

  • Simulations were carried out to investigate the characteristics of $CO_2$ emissions for an electric powered air conditioning system. The $CO_2$ emissions were evaluated for various simulation parameters such as a power source distribution rate, power plant efficiency, power supply efficiency and system performance (COP). It was found that the $CO_2$ emissions were remarkably decreased by increasing the COP of the electric powered air conditioning system with storage tank. The $CO_2$emission per unit refrigeration capacity is 0.6 kg/RTh. And also, as the COP increase by 0.1, the $CO_2$ emissions decrease by 7.2%.

  • It is generally known that the frost-resistance of concrete is much affected by the air content in concrete and by the air void system or air distribution. And also the frost-resistance is believed to vary with the stre¬ngth of concrete. This article is prepared to describe, based on experiment, the effect of the air content and the air void system, particularly the effect of the spacing factor, on the freeze-thaw resistance of the high strength conc¬rete. For this purpose, I first worked on Non-AE concrete to make its compressive strength set about 400 to 500 kg/em'. However, the freeze-thaw test on the Non-AE concrete resulted in low durability factor, I.e., 10-2~0%. Thus to enhance the durability, another supplementary step was needed. I used AE admixture. which enhanced durability by changing the air content from 2% to 12%. The frost-thaw test was then performed 500 cycles on the 20 kind of concrete mixtures which differ in unit cement content and in water-cement ratio. Keywords : frost -resistance, air content, air void system, air distribution, spacing factor, freeze-thaw test, dur ability factor. capillary cavity, Linear Traverse Method.
