Characteristics of Design Parameters on the Regenerative Blower Used for Building Fuel Cell System (건물 연료전지용 재생블로어 설계변수 특성연구)

  • This paper describes the blower performance used for single-stage high pressure regenerative blower. The blower considered is widely applied to the field of a fuel cell system, a medical equipment and a sewage treatment plant. Flow rate and rotating frequency of a impeller of the blower are considered as design parameters for the proper operation of the blower. Three-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations are introduced to analyze the performance and internal flow of the blower. Relatively good agreement between experimental measurements and numerical simulation is obtained. Throughout a numerical simulation, it is found that small and stable vortical flow generated inside the blade passage is effective to increase pressure and efficiency of the blower. Large local recirculation flow having low velocity in the blade passage obstructs the generation of stable vortical flow, thus increases the pressure loss of the blower. Detailed flow field inside the blower is also analyzed and discussed.

  • The HVAC(Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning) system is only controlled by turn on/turn off operations with AC 380V input. Therefore, the efficiency of the system is reduced and accoustic noise problem occurs. Also, the blower is shut down at the AC power failure. In this paper, the inverter system with UPS function for the A/C(Air Conditioning) blower is proposed. Proposed inverter system which is powered from the AC and DC voltage can control speed, operation mode, and soft-start time using CAN communication. In case of the CAN communication failure, RS-232 communication could be used to control the hardware directly by the engineer that can solve existing problems. To verify the validity of proposed inverter system, simulations and experiments are carried out.

Study of Pre-ventilation Effects on the Cabin Thermal Load (주차환기 시스템이 차 실내 열부하에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구)

  • The aim of this paper is to investigate the application of solar energy in reducing cabin thermal load. When a vehicle is parked under the sun in summer, the interior temperature can reach up to $70^{\circ}C$ depending on the solar intensity. Solar power, one of the green energies, is used in automobile air conditioning systems, in order to operate the blower. The power supply of a blower's voltage has been used in a solar sunroof experiment. At the climate wind tunnel, cabin temperature changes were conducted with various operating modes of an air handling system and the preventilation parking conditions of several vehicles, outdoors, was also examined. The test results of the solar sunroof, 39.3W power and 14.1% efficiency were obtained. The thermal load behavior was analysed with the air handling system operating mode differently according to the cabin temperature. By simply operating the blower, average cabin temperature decreased between $5^{\circ}C{\sim}10^{\circ}C$ in those vehicles parked outdoors in summer. This reveals that cabin thermal comfort can be improved without consuming the vehicle's extra energy, and that the performance of the air-conditioning system is better than those currently found in vehicles. Moreover, fuel economy will be increased as a result of the reduction in the use of the air-conditioning system, and many other human advantages will be gained. Such advantages include minimized VOCs and a healthy cabin environment.

  • To date, induction motors have mainly been used for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) applications, however, there is significant research being done world-wide on the use of switched reluctance motor(SRM) in household home appliances. This papers proposes three phase SRM for the air-conditioner blower that has cost merit and good performance respectively compared with conventional induction motor.

  • The HVAC(Heating Ventilation and Air conditioning) system is controlled by two ways, one is ON/OFF control and the other is PWM inverter with V/F. Control of blower with the use of PWM inverter has quite some benefits such as the capability of changing speed, high efficiency and reduced noise level compared with ON/OFF control. But if blower is operated at low speed, high THD generated by decrease of ma, and output voltage lowered in proportion to frequency. To solve these problems, filter should be installed at the output stage of inverter, which can decrease THD but has problems such as increase of volume size and additional braking resistance. This paper proposes the PWAM method which can reduce THD instead of installing the filter at the output stage of inverter. The proposed PWAM method is an inverter modulation method that fixes the modulation index of inverter to reduce THD by varying DC link voltage of inverter unlike conventional PWM method. Finally, the validity of proposed PWAM methods verified by experiments.

  • In order to improve the efficiency of a main transformer in a train, the optimal operation of a cooling system is necessary. For the development of optimal control algorithms of a cooling system, mathematical models of a main transformer cooling system were developed. These include static and dynamic models of a main transformer, an oil pump, an oil cooler, and a blower. Static models were used to find optimal oil temperatures of the inlet and the outlet of a transformer. Dynamic models were used to predict transient performances of control algorithms of a blower and an oil pump. Simulation results showed good predictions of the static and the dynamic behavior of a main transformer cooling system. Therefore, mathematical models developed in this study may be effectively used for the development of control algorithms of a main transformer cooling system.

Effective Dynamic Models for the Development of Control Algorithms of a Condensing Gas Boiler System (응축형 가스보일러시스템의 제어 알고리즘 개발을 위한 효과적인 동적모델)

  • Condensing gas boiler units may make a big role for the reduction of energy consumption in heating industries. In order to decrease the energy consumption of a condensing gas boiler unit, effective operations of the system are necessary. In this study, mathematical models of a condensing gas boiler system were developed in order to develop control algorithms of the system. These include dynamic models of a blower, a gas valve, a pump, a burner, a boiler heat exchanger, and a hot water heat exchanger. Control algorithms of a blower, a gas valve, and a pump were also assumed. Simulation results showed good predictions of dynamic behaviors of a boiler system. Therefore, the simulation program developed for this study may be effectively used for the development of control algorithms of a boiler system.

The Supply Water Algorithm for a Condensing Gas Boiler Control (콘덴싱가스보일러 제어를 위한 공급수알고리즘)

  • The energy consumption of a condensing gas boiler may be greatly reduced by the effective operation of the unit. In this study, the supply water algorithm for a condensing gas boiler control was developed by using the fuzzy logic. This includes the supply water set temperature algorithm, and the control algorithms of a gas valve, a blower and a pump. For the set temperature algorithm, the outside air temperature and the return water temperature were used as input variables. The supply water temperature difference and its slope were used as input variables of the gas valve and blower control algorithm. And the supply water temperature and the return water temperature were used as input variables of the pump control algorithm. In order to analyse performances of these algorithms, the dynamic model of a condensing gas boiler was used. The initial start-up test, the supply water set temperature change test, the outside air temperature change test, and the return water temperature change test were performed. Simulation results showed that algorithms developed in this study may be practically applied for the effective control of a condensing gas boiler.

  • I.G.G is abbreviation for Inert Gas Generator, High temperature in Cargo Tank it desulfurize, exhausted and froze the gas that combined brimstone element and soot, then supply Inert gas by blower, and mack tank inside incombustible range this is equipment that nip in the bud the explosion. The blower for suppling inactivated gas has big impeller with heavy weight to achieve the high pressure, it causes a delay for first operation time and too much load is delivered to motor, total destruction by fire of motor is happening frequently. On this research, we will reduce the size & weight of impeller and install it with several stage, it makes an effect for reducing the first operation time. We also intend to contribute to efficient IGG blower design by research a flowing & pressure specialty from the diameter of impeller, number of blade, and size of casing.
