제지용(製紙用) 펄프 섬유(纖維)의 아세틸화(化)와 응용(應用) (Acetylation of Papermaking Pulp Fiber and its Application)

  • The acetylation of papermaking pulp fiber(SwBKP, SwUKP, HwBKP and HwBCTMF) is carried out to modify the characteristics of pulp and paper. The effects of the addition of acetylated pulp on the filler retention and paper properties were investigated. The acetylation depended upon pulp type and the content of short fiber and fines. The addition of acetylated SwBKP did not deteriorate the retention of clay, talc and calcium carbonate, while the retention of titanium dioxide was increased with the addition of 20% and above. The brightness opacity, air permeability and tear strength were improved, but water resistance, burst strength and folding endurance were decreased by the addition of acetylated SwBKP and SwUKP. The tensile strength of SwBKP was increased until 20% of acetylated pulp is added, and then decreased. The tensile strength of SwUKP, however, was not changed until the acetylated pulp of 25% is added. The dimensional stability was improved by the addition of acetylated pulp and showed the different response to SwBKP and SwUKP.

고해 조건과 평량이 라이너 판지의 휨강성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Refining Conditions and Grammage on the Bending Stiffness of Linerboard)

  • The effect of refining conditions and grammage on the stiffness of linerboard was investigated. The correlations between Taber stiffness and resonance stiffness were very low due to the different measuring principle. The refining conditions did not affect sig nificantly on both Taber and resonance stiffness estimated here. This means that it is strongly recommended to find and apply the refining conditions which can reduce specific energy consumption. Taber stiffness showed very high correlation for the thickness and elastic modulus of linerboard, while the resonance stiffness showed much lower correlation. Effective thicknesses for Taber stiffness were very well fitted with measured thickness, while those for resonance stiffness depended on the grammage of linerboard.

  • The effect of dilute sulfuric acid treatment was examined to improve recyclability of coated brokes. Turbidity , electric conductivity , and cationic demand of the white water from coated broke prepared from an alkaline base paper was determined. Sulfuric acid treatment was found to be effective in dissolving undisintegrated substances such as binders, pigments, and fibers. The properties of papers prepared by adding the broke to pulp stock up to 30% dry weight were examined . With the increase of broke addition, retention, sizing degree and smoothness were improved ; on the other hand, formation uniformness, air permeability and internal bonding strength were decreased. The extent of improvement by broke addition was greater for the surfuric acid-treated broke than the control broke. It was concluded that the use of coated broke should be limited within 10-15% weight of the product for either type of broke.

캘린더 처리가 펄프별 종이의 압축 및 표면 특성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Calendering on Compressibility and Surface Properties of Sheets Made of Various Pulps)

  • Effect of calendering on structural and surface properties of sheets made of various pulp was investigated. BKP, BCTMP and KOCC were used as raw materials for handsheets and sheets were calendered at the different calendering temperature and pressure conditions. Caliper, air permeability, and PPS roughness were reduced by calendering, but their effects were a little different depending on pulp type and calendering condition. Increase of density with increase of calendering Pressure was remarkable on sheet made of BCTMP or KOCC, and the effect of temperature was more significant than pressure. PPS roughness of sheet made of BCTMP or KOCC was reduced by calendering, but BKP sheet showed little reduction of roughness at higher calendering pressure. The compressibility of sheet increased logarithmetically with calendering pressure and surface compressibility of KOCC sheet was relatively higher than other pulps.

충전제가 습부 탈수 및 종이 물성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of filler loading on the wet end dewatering and paper properties)

  • The effects of fillers on the wet end dewatering and paper properties were investigated in order to confirm the possibility that the fillers can be used as a means for saving energy in papermaking process. The performance of GCC, PCC and talcs were evaluated. The dewatering in wire and wet press was improved by the increase of filler addition, but it was observed that the dewatering behavior was depended by the filler characteristics. PCC was superior to other fillers in the bulk, opacity, air permeability and stiffness while the lowest tensile and burst index were obtained. We found that the response on the wet end dewatering and paper properties were affected greatly by the filler characteristics including particle shape and size.

  • Gas separation science and technology is among the most rapidly growing areas involving membrane-based processes. Nitrogen enrichment of air, hydrogen recovery from a broad array of stream types, and removal of acid gases from natural gases are typical of the applications in this field. Great progress has been made in the discovery of guidelines optimization of polymer structures with simultaneously high permeabilities and selectivities for these important gas pairs. The development of thin-skinned asymmetric hollow fibers have also provided structures with extremely high permeation fluxes. Especially in the case of O$_{2}$/N$_{2}$ separations, the rate of improvements in new polymeric materials for gas separations appears to be slowing to a halt. Evidence will be presented, however, that the practical tradeoff between membrane permeability and selectivity has not been reached.

  • This study was performed to know the properties and estimation of field application of concrete(Bluecon) using fluosilicate salt based admixture made from by-product during phosphoric acid manufacturing process. Mix proportions for experiment were modulated at 0.45 of water-binder ratio and $0.5-2.0\%$ of adding ratio of fluosilicate salt based inorganic compound. Evaluation for Field application of concrete was carried out batch plant test at remicon factory and building construction. According to results. it was found that slump of concrete(Bluecon) using fluosilicate salt based admixture is higher about 10 to 20 mm than plain concrete, and air content is similar to each other. And the water permeability and crack of bluecon is lower than that of plain concrete.

  • Recently sewage facilities mainly consisted of concrete structures are being deteriorated seriously by biodeterioration originated from sulfur-oxidizing bacteria. In this study, to prevent biochemical corrosion of the sewer concrete, antibiotics which prevent growth of sulfur-oxidizing bacteria were developed and antimicrobial performance of it was investigated. After that, to consider applicability of antibiotics to concrete, physical properties such as bond strength, resistance to abraision, water absorption and air permeability of concrete covered with inorganic and complex antibiotics were investigated.

  • Shallow failures of slopes in weathered soils are caused by infiltration due to prolonged rainfall. These failures are mainly triggered by the deepening of the wetting band accompanied by a decrease in suction induced by the water infiltration. In this paper, hysteresis on soil-water characteristic curve(SWCC) of granite and gneiss weathered soils are investigated using transient flow analysis respectively. Each case was subjected to artificial rainfall intensities and time duration depending on the laboratory-based drying and wetting processes. The results show that the unsaturated seepage on weathered slopes are very much affected by the initial suction of soils and unsaturated permeability of the soils. In addition, a granite weathered soil has a lower air-entry value, residual matric suction, and wetting front suction and less hysteresis loop than a gneiss weathered soil.

바인더 함량 변화가 LTCC 그린 테이프의 물리적 특성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Binder Content on Physical Properties of LTCC Green Tapes)

  • The properties of LTCC green tape with addition of binder were investigated in order to understand an effects of binder on multilayer processing. A green sheet form was fabricated through tape casting method with the MLS-22 powder. The lamination density increased with increasing amount of binder and lamination pressure. With increasing amount of binder, the elongation of ceramic sheets increased but the tensile stress and air-permeability decreased. The addition of excessive binder is caused defects in the green sheet during via hole punching. The optimum condition of the via hole without defects was observed from amount of the binder 10 wt%.
