EMP 차폐를 위한 비상발전기 연도의 최적 형상 결정 (A Design Optimization on Coupling Joint between Exhaust Chimney of Electricity Generator and Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP) Shield)

  • 본 논문에서는 EMP 차폐를 위한 WBC 배열이 설치된 대형 비상발전기 연도의 최적형상을 결정하는 것을 목표로 연구를 진행하였다. 시뮬레이션은 WBC 배열의 외부관경이 800, 850, 900, 1050mm 및 1250mm를 대상으로 하였으며 기본연도와의 접속길이를 150, 300, 450 mm, 연도의 유속은 15, 20, 25m/s로 하였다. EMP 차폐를 위한 WBC 배열을 연도에 설치하는 경우 WBC 배열의 외부관경, Main 연도와의 접속길이가 배기가스 흐름에 큰 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. WBC 배열의 외부관경이 1050, 1250mm이고 접속길이가 300, 450mm이면 도파관 배열에서 배기가스의 평균속도와 최고속도를 만족시키는 것으로 나타났다.

  • A study on waste heat utilization of melted slags at pyorlysis, gasification and melting system was performed. Researchers studied heat balance of substances that flow and flow out to the system which is consisted of melting furnace, combustion chamber, and waste heat boiler, then they calculated melting slags' quantity of heat by the first law of thermodynamics. If they use water cursh pit outflow which is gotten by quenching of melting slag as a energy for heating and cooling system, steam of waste heat boiler would be delivered to a steam turbine, making energy, then they will get 67,671,000 won of profit a year. It will take 3 years to repossess the cost that they invested for building it. And, if we predict durability of trash burner is 20 years, we will get approximately 1,150,407,000 won of profits in 17 years without the period when we repossess the building costs.

  • The present study investigates the heat transfer characteristics on concave surface with array impinging jet and fin arrangement. The heat transfer coefficients was measured by TLC method. The Reynolds number based on jet hole diameter is 10,000 and hole diameter-to-plate distance ratio (H/d) is fixed at 2. The rectangular fins are installed in the curved channel and the width of fin varies from 1d to 3d. Without fins, the averaged heat transfer coefficients decreases as moves downstream region. While, the rectangular fins block the crossflow and higher heat transfer rates were observed compared to smooth channel.

Numerical study of airfoil thickness effects on the performance of J-shaped straight blade vertical axis wind turbine

  • Providing high starting torque and efficiency simultaneously is a significant challenge for vertical axis wind turbines (VAWTs). In this paper, a new approach is studied in order to modify VAWTs performance and cogging torque. In this approach, J-shaped profiles are exploited in the structure of blades by means of eliminating the pressure side of airfoil from the maximum thickness toward the trailing edge. This new profile is a new type of VAWT airfoil using the lift and drag forces, thereby yielding a better performance at low TSRs. To simulate the fluid flow of the VAWT along with J-shaped profiles originated from NACA0018 and NACA0030, a two-dimensional computational analysis is conducted. The Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) equations are closed using the two-equation Shear Stress Transport (SST) turbulence model. The main objective of the study is to investigate the effects of J-shaped straight blade thickness on the performance characteristics of VAWT. The results obtained indicate that opting for the higher thickness in J-shaped profiles for the blade sections leads the performance and cogging torque of VAWT to enhance dramatically.

둔체를 갖는 연소기에서 자려 연소 진동에 관한 수치해석 (Numerical Simulation of Self-excited Combustion Oscillation in a Dump Combustor with Bluff-body)

  • Combustion instability has been considered as very important issue for developing gas turbine and rocket engine. There is a need for fundamental understanding of combustion instability. In this study, combustion instability was numerically and experimentally investigated in a dump combustor with bluff body. The fuel and air mixture had overall equivalence ratio of 0.9 and was injected toward dump combustor. The pressure oscillation with approximately 256Hz was experimentally obtained. For numerical simulation, the standard k-$\varepsilon$ model was used for turbulence and the hybrid combustion model (eddy dissipation model and kinetically controlled model) was applied. After calculating steady solution, unsteady calculation was performed with forcing small perturbation on initial that solution. Pressure amplitude and frequency measured by pressure sensor is nearly the same as those predicted by numerical simulation. Furthermore, it is clear that a combustion instability involving vortex shedding is affected by acoustic-vortex-combustion interaction. The phase difference between the pressure and velocity is $\pi$/2, and that between the pressure and heat release rate is in excitation range described by Rayleigh, which is obvious that combustion instability for the bluff body combustor meets thermoacoustic instability criterion.

Numerical hydrodynamic analysis of an offshore stationary-floating oscillating water column-wave energy converter using CFD

  • Offshore oscillating water columns (OWC) represent one of the most promising forms of wave energy converters. The hydrodynamic performance of such converters heavily depends on their interactions with ocean waves; therefore, understanding these interactions is essential. In this paper, a fully nonlinear 2D computational fluid dynamics (CFD) model based on RANS equations and VOF surface capturing scheme is implemented to carry out wave energy balance analyses for an offshore OWC. The numerical model is well validated against published physical measurements including; chamber differential air pressure, chamber water level oscillation and vertical velocity, overall wave energy extraction efficiency, reflected and transmitted waves, velocity and vorticity fields (PIV measurements). Following the successful validation work, an extensive campaign of numerical tests is performed to quantify the relevance of three design parameters, namely incoming wavelength, wave height and turbine damping to the device hydrodynamic performance and wave energy conversion process. All of the three investigated parameters show important effects on the wave-pneumatic energy conversion chain. In addition, the flow field around the chamber's front wall indicates areas of energy losses by stronger vortices generation than the rear wall.

공기 가진력에 의한 팬 블레이드 구조 안정성 평가에 관한 연구 (A study on the Structural Stability about the Fan Blade by the Air Excited Forces.)

  • 엔진 운용 중에 유로(flow Path)에 놓여 있는 팬 블레이드(blade)들은 많은 외부하중에 노출되어 있어서 고주기 피로(high cycle fatigue)에 의한 피로 파괴의 위험성이 크다. 그 중 가장 중요하게 평가되는 것이 주기적인 가진력에 의한 공진 현상과 그에 따른 피로파괴 가능성이다. 본 논문에서는 유동장 (flow field)이 지주(struts)에 의해 영향을 받게 되고, 이러한 유동장의 분포가 지주 후방에서 주기함수 형태로 팬 블레이드를 가진 할 때, 팬 블레이드에서의 진동 응답 특성과 구조적인 안정성을 평가하였다. 팬 블레이드의 피로강도를 시험적으로 평가하고, 팬 블레이드 전방 지주에 의한 공기 가진력을 가정하여 유한 요소 해석을 통한 구조적 안정성을 평가하였다. 그리고 엔진 시험에서 측정된 서지 압력 하중을 팬 블레이드의 유한요소 모델에 적용하여 구조적 영향을 평가함으로써 팬 블레이드의 구조적인 안정성을 확인하였다.

  • 보조동력장치(Auxiliary Power Unit: APU)는 항공기에 장착되어 주엔진의 지상 및 공중 시동을 위한 에너지를 공급하고 항공기의 비상 및 보조 전원을 공급하는 역할을 하는 소형 가스터빈엔진이다. 항공기용 APU는 구조가 간단하고 소형이지만 유인 항공기에 장착되기 때문에 높은 신뢰성이 요구되므로 인증 절차를 통하여 그 신뢰성을 입증하여야 한다. 한국항공우주연구원은 2007년부터 2012년까지 한화 테크윈과 함께 축적된 국내 연구개발 역량 및 경험을 바탕으로 헬리콥터용 APU의 설계/해석, 제작 및 조립, 개발시험 및 인증시험을 평가를 성공적으로 완료하였다. 본 논문에서는 헬리콥터용 보조동력장치의 개발 및 인증 과정에 대하여 정리하였다.

가스터빈 슬링거 연소기 실험연구 (An Experimental Study of the Gas Turbine Slinger Combustor)

  • 가스터빈 슬링거 연소기의 연소특성을 연구하기 위한 실험적 연구를 수행하였다. 연소실험을 위한 시험리그를 제작하여 한국항공우주연구원의 연소시험설비에 설치하였다. 점화성능 시험결과 점화한계에 영향을 주는 두개의 중요한 인자를 발견할 수 있었다. 첫 번째는 연료노즐의 회전수이고, 두 번째는 질량유량이다. 좋은 점화성능을 가지기 위해서는 연료노즐의 회전속도와 공기유량을 증가시킴으로서 가능하다. 연소성능 시험결과 연소효율은 99.6%, 패턴 팩터는 15%, 프로파일 팩터는 3%로 측정 되었다. 연구결과 슬링거 연소기의 점화와 연소특성은 기존의 환형 연소기에 비하여 상당한 차이점을 가지고 있음을 알 수 있었다.

  • Increasing energy prices and growing concerns about global warming address the need to improve energy self-sufficiency in many industrial and municipal sectors. Wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) are representative of energy-consuming facilities in Korea, accounting for 5% of national energy consumption. We present renewable energy technologies and energy self-sufficiency scenarios in a municipal WWTP ($30,000m^3d^{-1}$) located in Yongin, South Korea. By employing photovoltaics (PV, 135 kW), small hydropower turbine (10 kW), and thermal energy from treated effluent (25 RT: refrigeration ton) within the WWTP, a total of 142 tonne of oil equivalent (toe) of energy was estimated to be generated, accounting for $365ton\;CO_2\;yr^{-1}$ of greenhouse gas emission reduction. Core renewable technologies under consideration include 1) hybrid solar PV system consisting of fixed PV, dual-axis PV, and building integrated PV, 2) low-head small hydropower plant specifically designed for treated effluent, 3) effluent heat recovery system for heating and air conditioning. In addition to these core technologies, smart operation and management scheme will be presented for enhancing overall energy savings and distribution within the WWTP.
