  • This study was performed to evaluate the characteristics which are slump, air content and time of set in fresh concrete and compressive strength of hardened concrete containing slag powder and fly-ash. Replacement rate of FA is fixed on 10$\%$ and replacement rate of slag powder are 0$\%$, 20$\%$ and 30$\%$. Also AE water-reducing agents(standard type, accelerating type) are used. The results were as follows. (1)Slump flow of concrete using AE water-reducing agents is similar. Flowability is incresed when replacement rate of slag powder is increased due to slag powder's ball bearing reaction.(2)Time of set of concrete using accelerating type agent is more faster than that of concrete using standard type agent because of ettringite generation that promote setting.(3)Early strength of three-component concrete using accelerating type agent is higher than that using standard type agent. Therefore cumulative pore is reduced due to ettringite

  • This study was a basic research for actual production of recycled aggregate concrete, and experiments were carried out on the change of water cement ratio and physical properties of recycled aggregate concrete with fixed slump. Results were as follows. Concrete using recycled aggregate were required increased water to maintain the target slump, and the recycled fine aggregate are necessary more increased water more than the recycled coarse aggregate. The replacement ratio of recycled fine aggregate be less than 60%, would be possible to obtain the air content volume that did not deviate from the concrete quality specification. The compressive strength of concrete using recycled aggregate decreased with increasing the replacement of recycled aggregate, and compressive strength decreased by 25% when 100% recycled fine aggregate were replaced. As a result of analyzing the correlation of compressive strength according to the mixing factors of concrete, it was found that replacement of recycled fine aggregate> water cement ratio> air content volume were influenced in order.

  • The aim of the research is to evaluate the possibility of using coal gasification slag (CGS) as a combined aggregate for concrete mixture. To achieve this goal, the fundamental properties and the durability of concrete were analyzed depending on various combining ratio of CGS into both fine aggregate with favorable gradation and relatively coarse particles. According to the results of the experiment, slump and slump flow were increased with content of CGS regardless of crushed fine aggregate with good and poor gradations while the air content was decreased. For the compressive strength of the concrete, in the case of using the crushed aggregate with good gradation, increasing CGS content decreased compressive strength of the concrete, while when the concrete used crushed aggregate with poor gradation, the compressive strength was the maximum at 50% of CGS content. As a durability assessment, drying shrinkage was decreased and carbonation resistance was improved by increasing CGS content. On the other hand, for freeze-thawing resistance, CGS influenced adverse effect on freeze-thawing resistance. Therefore, it is known that an additional air entrainer is needed to increase the freeze-thawing resistance when CGS was used as a combined aggregate for concrete.

  • This study investigates mechanical properties of the concrete using fine particle cement which is manufactured by the pulverizing process. The variable factors are 3 types of W/C such as 40, 50, and 60%, 3 types of curing temperature such as 5, 20, and $35^{\circ}C$, and 5types of the replacement of the fine particle cement such as 0, 25, 50, 75, and 100%. The unit water content, S/a and amount of the SP and AE agents to secure the slump and air content is gradually increased in accordance with amount of replacement. It can be confirmed that the delay of the setting time depending on FC content is decreased corresponding to FC content, so the effect of the acceleration to the setting time is expected. The compressive strength corresponding to FC content is proportionally increased, and the growth is confirmed about $30{\sim}40%$ at a day in 50% of FC contents. However, the increase of the strength is gradually decreased in accordance with increasing age.

  • This study is intended to investigate the engineering properties of concrete, in which cement and fine aggregate are replaced with cement kiln dust(CKD), such as the properties of fresh concrete and hardened concrete and hydration heat history, for effective using method of CKD, a by-product produced in the process of making cement. According to the results, as the replacing ratio of CKD increases, slump and air content of concrete decreases remarkably due to an increase of viscosity and filling of the pores. As the properties of setting, initial and final setting time are shortened with an increase of the replacing ratio of CKD, and as the replacement of CKD for fine aggregate increases, setting time is shortened more greatly. Compressive strength increases due to filling of the pores and reduction of air content in comparison with plain concrete. When the replacement ratio of CKD for cement is 10% and 15%, peak temperature of hydration heat lowers slightly, but it goes up in the case of replacement of CKD for fine aggregate. Also, when cement and fine aggregate is replaced with CKD by 2.5% and 7.5% respectively(1C3S) in the case of replacement of CKD for cement and fine aggregate, it is highest.

  • Recently depletion of natural resources makes a deficiency of sand aggregation in the concrete works. In this study, the quality characteristics of concrete and aggregate according to blending fine aggregate in the river sand and the crash sand was analyzed by Normal method and Driscoll method which has used mixing of fine aggregate for asphalt mostly. Application of Discoll method to blend fine aggregate for concrete was studied in the first step to blend fine aggregates concrete. The fineness modulus, grading, slump, air content and compressive strength were tested by the two method, the results of Driscoll method was very similar to degree of err limits in comparison with those of Normal method in the same condition. As a result, Driscoll method is reasonable to use the fine aggregates mixture for concrete in river sand and crash sand.

  • This study analysis fundamental properties of high-strength concrete corresponding to W/B ratio for suggested table of high strength concrete, mixed with premixed cement. As a result of this study, the amount of using air entraining and high-range water reducing agent for intended slump flow and air content decreased as W/B increased, and the setting time corresponding to the W/B ratio delayed as W/B ratio increased except 20% W/B ratio. The compressive strength according to W/B ratio decreased as W/B ratio increased, and there was no great deferent as the intended slump flow. Also it could possible to use this study at work as the correlation coefficient is high enough as 0.9646 substituting B/W and compressive strength for the regression formula.

  • The study was conducted to determine the effects of adding pig blood as an admixture to both mortar and concrete. The mortar tests included the determination of its unit weight, flow and its compressive strength. Moreover, the concrete test includes the determination of air content, slump, bleeding, setting time compressive strength and freeze-thaw resistance of the material. As the test result, the utilization of pig blood, as an additive to both mortar and concrete mixtures causes air entrainment. The mortar flow increased and both the unit weight and the compressive strength of mortar decreased. As the blood replacement rate increases, the air content decreases over time, the setting and amount of bleeding showed a tendency to decline and reduced compressive strength, and the freeze-thaw resistance of the concrete increased.
