일산화탄소중독시(一酸化炭素中毒時) 폐(肺)로 부터의 일산화탄소(一酸化炭素) 방산(放散)에 관(關)하여 (Elimination of CO through the Lung in CO Poisoned Dog)

  • In order to evaluate the elimination of CO through the lung comparing with the decrease of CO content in the blood, authors had induced acute CO poisoning on 9 dogs. Arterial CO-Hb saturation, CO concentration, %, in expired gas and eliminated CO amount through the lung were measured at 1,5,10,30,60, and 120 minutes after acute CO poisoning in 6 dogs breathing room air and 3 dogs breathing room air and oxygen alternately. Results obtained are summarized as follows. In room air breathing group, arterial CO-Hb saturation averaged 50.8% , and 53.67 ml of CO was blew off through the lung during 120 minutes and in alternately air and oBygen breathing group, the arterial CO-Hb saturation averaged 65.6% and 95.6 ml of CO was blew off through the lung. The amount of CO eliminated in expired gas for 120 minute was much less than the amount of decreased CO in arterial blood which was calculated with the decreased CO-Hb content in the estimated circulating blood volume. Such difference between the amount of eliminated CO in expired gas and the decreased CO in blood might be attributed to the oxidation of CO to $CO_2$ in the tissues. Concentration of CO in expired gas was markedly increased and the rate of decrease in arterial CO-Hb saturation is enhanced by oxygen breathing. In early period of recovery from acute CO poisoning, neither the CO concentration in expired gas, nor, the rate of CO elimination (unlit 2 minutes after CO poisoning) showed close correlation with the blood CO-Hb saturation level. The reason seemed to be due to irregularly depressed or unevenly stimulated respiration which were induced by acute CO poisoning.

  • 잣버섯 균사체 배양에 적합한 생물반응기는 풍선형의 공기부양식의 생물반응기가, 수용성 다당체의 생산에도 생장이 좋았던 풍선형 공기부양식 생물반응기가 유리한 것으로 나타났다. 배지의 탄소원 농도별에 따른 수용성 세포외 다당체의 생산량은 농도 처리간 차이가 없었으나 수용성 세포내 다당체는 탄소원 농도가 낮은 즉 C/N율이 낮을수록 증가하였다. 잣버섯 균사체는 고농도의 배지 배양조건에서 생물반응기내로 배지 공급형태가 배지량 증가방법보다 배지농도 조절에 의한 연속 배양방법이 우수한 것으로 나타났다.

반건식 배연탈황법에 의한 연소 페가스 중 $SO_2$제거에 관한 연구 (A Study on $SO_2$Removal in Flue Gas by Semidry Flue Gas Desulfurization Method)

  • The investigation on the removal of 502 gas fro.In flue gas which causes serious air pollution was made by using a semi dry flue gas desulfurization method. Experiments were carried out as a function of process variables which would affect SO2 removal efficiency. Process variables inclilded SO2 inlet concentration, inlet temperature of simulated flue gas, sorbent weight fraction, and volume flow rate of sorbent slurry. In this study, used sorbent was Ca(OH), and simulated flue gas was prepared by mixing pure SO2 gas with air. Experimental conditions were varied at 140~18$0^{\circ}C$ of inlet temperature of the simulated flue gas, 500~2000ppm of inlet SO2 concentration, 0.4~1.0% of sorbent concentration, and 10~25 mL/min of flow rate of sorbent slurry. Among process variables, inlet concentration of SO2 was found to be the most significant factor to affect SO2 removal efficiency. The concentration of Ca(OH2) had a lower effect on SO2 removal than SO2 inlet concentration removal amount was 0.108, 0.141, 0.153 g SO2/g Ca(OH)2 respectively- As 200 mmol of HNO3 was added into slurry to improve removal efficiency, initial pH was maintained and solubility of slurry increased, so that removal efficiency elevated. Adding over 200 mmol of HNO3 into slurry caused removal efficiency lower. Therefore it could be concluded the optimum was 200 mmol of HNO3 input.

Solid Substrate and Submerged Culture Fermentation of Sugar Cane Bagasse for the Production of cellulase and Reducing Sugars by a Local Isolate, Aspergillus terreus SUK-1

  • Several process parameters were studied to ascertain the effect on degradation of sugar cane bagasse in relation to the production of cellulase enzyme and reducing sugars by Solid Substrate Fermentation (SSF) and Submerged Culture Fermentation (SCF) of Aspergillus terreus SUK-1. The effect of air-flow rate (0-1.3 v/v/m), of different ratios of substrate weight to liquid volume (1:6, 1:10, 1:20, and 1:30 w/v, g/ml), scale-up effect (10, 20, and 100 times of 1:10 ration, w/v) and the effect of temperature (30, 40, 50, and $60^{\circ}C$) in SSF were studied. Air-flow rate of 1.0 v/v/m gave the highest enzyme activity (FPase 0.25 IU/ml, CMCase 1.24 IU/ml) and reducing sugars concentration (0.72 mg/ml). Experiment using 1:10 ratio (w/v) was found to support maximum cellulase activity (FPase 0.58 IU/ml, CMCase 1.97 IU/ml) and reducing sugar concentration (1.23 mg/ml). Scaling-up the ratio of 1:10(w/v) by a factor of 20 gave the highest cellulase activity (FPase 0.71 IU/ml, CMCase 2.25 IU/ml) and reducing sugar concentration (3.67 mg/ml). The optimum temperature for cellulase activity and reducing sugar production was $50^{\circ}C$(FPase 0.792 IU/ml, CMCase 2.25 IU/ml and 3.85 mg/ml for reducing sugar concentration). For SCF, the activity of cellulase enzyme and reducing sugar concentration was found to be lower than that obtained for SSF. The highest cellulase activity obtained in SCF was 50% lower than the highest cellulase activity in SSF, while for reducing sugar concentration, the highest concentration obtained in SCF was 90% lower than that obtained in SSF.

실내.외 공기 중 부유먼지 측정방법 상호간의 비교평가 - 중량법을 대상으로 (Comparative Evaluation of Gravimetric Measurement Methods for Suspended Particles in Indoor and Outdoor Air)

  • In this study, several types of gravimetric methods (such as high, medium, low, and ultra low volume sampling methods) were applied to determine suspended particulate matter concentrations in both ambient and indoor environments. Comparative evaluations were undertaken with SPM data obtained using a variety of samplers (TSP, PM10, and PM4.0) at different sampling flow rates. Correlation coefficients between TSP and PM10 concentrations measured at different flow rates fell in the range of 0.73∼0.94 (n=40). In addition, correlation coefficients for PM concentrations measured by different TSP samplers were in the range of 0.90∼0.95 (n=36 or n=38), while 0.77∼0.91 (n=38) for PM10 samplers. Correlation analysis was also conducted on indoor monitoring data that were measured using ultra-low-volume samplers at both different or identical flow rates. The correlation coefficients were in the range of 0.98∼0.99 (n=38) between TSP and TSP and 0.92∼0.94 (n=38) between TSP and PM10. The mean ratio for high volume PM10 to TSP concentration that was monitored at identical flow rates in the ambient air appeared to be 0.72. The mean ratios of PM10 to TSP and PM4.0 to TSP observed with identical flow rates at indoor environments were 0.47 and 0.40. The results of this study may provide empirical information concerning the compatability of aerosol data obtained by gravimetric sampling methods at different flow rates.

압축공기에너지 저장 공동의 콘크리트 플러그 최적 형상에 대한 수치해석적 연구 (Numerical Study on the Optimal Shape of Concrete Plug for Compressed Air Energy Storage Caverns)

  • 본 연구에서는 압축공기에너지 저장 공동의 콘크리트 플러그 최적 형상을 조사하기 위해 플러그 형상에 따른 저장 공동의 안정성을 수치해석적으로 평가하였다. 고려한 플러그 형상은 원통형, 암반에 근입된 원통형, 테이퍼형, 쐐기형이었고, 강도감소법에 의한 안전율과 압축 공기의 압력으로 인해 콘크리트에 발생하는 항복 영역의 부피비를 토대로 안정성을 분석하였다. 안정성 분석 결과, 암반에 근입된 원통형과 테이퍼형 플러그가 원통형과 쐐기형 플러그보다 역학적으로 더 안정한 것으로 분석되었다. 그러나 암반에 근입된 플러그의 경우 플러그와 암반이 접촉하는 부분에서 응력 집중이 발생하여 암반에 근입된 원통형 플러그보다는 테이퍼형 플러그 가 최적의 형상인 것을 확인하였다.

  • The effect of surrounding air velocity on the soot deposition process from a diffusion flame to a solid wall was investigated in a microgravity environment to attain in-situ observations of the process. An ethylene($C_2H_4$) diffusion flame was formed around a cylindrical rod burner in surrounding air velocity of $v_{air}$=2.5, 5, and 10 cm/s with oxygen concentration of 35 % and wall temperature of 300 K. Laser extinction was adopted to determine the soot volume fraction distribution between the flame and burner wall. The experimental results show that the soot particle distribution region moves closer to the surface of the wall with increasing surrounding air velocity. A numerical simulation was also performed to understand the motion of soot particles in the flame and the characteristics of the soot deposition to the wall. The results successfully predicted the differences in the motion of soot particles by different surrounding air velocity near the burner surface and are in good agreement with observed soot behavior in microgravity. A comparison of the calculations and experimental results led to the conclusion that a consideration of the thermophoretic effect is essential to understand the soot deposition on walls.

  • A convolution alogorithm combined with Fourier transformation is applied to the tomographic reconstruction of the asymmetric spray structure to identify the local drop size and volume concentration. The line of sight intergrated data from Malvern particle analyzer with multiangular scanning form a basic information for the deconvolution. Linear interpolation is tested to obtain the effect of increasing number of scanning angles. This transformation method predicts well the structure of asymmetric spray. The tehnique can be extended to other line of sight combustion diagnostics.

고농도(高濃度)의 $CO_2$가 적혈구용적(赤血球容積) 및 혈장(血漿) Choloride 치(値)에 미치는 영향(影響) (Changes in the Red Cell Volume and the Plasma Chloride Level under the High $CO_2$ Concentration in vitro)

  • The changes in the red cell volume and the plasma chloride level were measured when the blood $CO_2$ content was altered by equilibration with the atmospheric air or pure $CO_2$ for 20 minutes. The red cell volume was expressed in terms of hematocrit and mean corpuscular volume (M.C.V.). The results obtained were as follows. 1) On equilibration with the atmospheric air, the MCV and the plasma chloride level were $91.6{\pm}1.26\;c.{\mu}$ and $110.7{\pm}6.28mEq/L.$ respectively. 2) On equilibration with pure $CO_{2}$, the MCV and the plasma chloride level were $109.6{\pm}2.0\;c.{\mu}$ and $90.7{\pm}5.17\;mEq/L.$ respectively. 3) When the blood was subjected to equilibration with the atmospheric for air 20 minutes after equilibration with pure $CO_{2}$ for the same period of time the MCV and the plasma chloride level were $89.9{\pm}6.34\;c.{\mu}$ and $100.3{\pm}5.50\;mEq/L.$ respectively. From the above results it can be concluded that an increase of the blood $CO_2$ content in the experimental condition causes definitely a decrease of the plasma chloride level and a concomitant increase of the red cell volume, and that a decrease of the blood content $CO_2$ in the experimental condition causes definitely an increase of the plasma chloride level and a concomitant decrease of the red cell volme. Apparantly there exists a parallel relationship between the extent of the decrease of the plasma chloride level and that of the increase of the red cell volume when the blood $CO_2$ content increased in the experimental condition. When the blood $CO_2$ content decreased, the extent of the decrease of the red cell volume exceeds that of the increase of the plasma chloride level.

공간 분석을 통한 부산광역시 대기오염물질의 분포와 이동오염원 간의 관련성 연구 (Analysis of the Association between Air Pollutant Distribution and Mobile Sources in Busan Using Spatial Analysis)

  • Background: Busan is a rapidly industrializing city with many mixed residential and industrial areas. Fine dust emissions from mobile pollution sources such as ships and vehicles are particularly high in Busan. Objectives: This study analyzed the spatial distribution of air pollutants over the past three years and identified the impact of air pollutants through mobile source data in Busan. Methods: We obtained air pollutant data on fine particulate matter (PM10), ultrafine particulate matter (PM2.5), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), sulfurous acid gas (SO2), and ozone (O3) for the last three years (source: airkorea.or.kr) and analyzed the spatial distribution using SAS 9.4 and Surfer 23. For the mobile pollutant data, we used CCTV data from major intersections in Busan to identify truck and car traffic, and visualized traffic density with QGIS. Results: The analysis of the concentration of air pollutants over three years (2020~2022) showed that all were lower than the annual environmental standards with the exception of PM2.5. PM10 and PM2.5 were found to be highly concentrated in the western part of the area, while NO2 was high in the port area of Busan and SO2 was high in the western part of the area and near the new port of Busan. In the case of O3, it was high in the eastern part of the city. The traffic volume of freight vehicles by intersection was concentrated in the West Busan area, and the traffic volume for all cars was also confirmed to be concentrated at "Mandeok Intersection" located in the West Busan area. Conclusions: This study was conducted to determine the relationship between air pollutants emitted from motor vehicles and the distribution of air pollutants in Busan. The spatial distribution of PM10 and PM2.5 correlates with traffic volume, while high concentrations of SO2 and NO2 near the port are associated with ship emissions.
