  • According to the stringent exhaust emission regulation, precise control of air fuel ratio is one of the most important issues on gasoline engine. Although many researches have been carried out to identify the fuel transport phenomena in a port fueled gasoline engine, complexity of fuel film behavior in the intake port makes it difficult. The fuel film behavior was investigated recently by using visualization method and these gave us qualitative understanding. The purpose of this study is to estimate of wall wetting fuel in the intake port and the inducted fuel mass was predicted by using wall wetting fuel model . The model coefficient($\alpha$,$\beta$) and fuel film mass on the port wall were determined from measured in-cylinder HC concentration using FRFID after injection off. The fuel film mass was increased, but $\alpha$(ratio of directly inducted fuel mass into cylinder from injected fuel mass) was decreased with increasing load at the same engine speed. $\beta$is nearly constant value(0.8~0.9). when injected fuel mass is varied at 1500rpm , the calculated air fuel ratio using well wetting fuel model was nearly the same as measured by UEGO.

마이크로 사이클론 연소기의 혼합 및 유동특성에 관한 수치해석 연구 (Numerical Simulation of the Mixing and Flow Characteristics in a Micro Cyclone Combustor)

  • A micro cyclone combustor was developed to be used as a heat source of thermoelectric power generator (TPG). The cyclone combustor was designed so that fuel and air were supplied to the combustion chamber separately. The mixing and flow characteristics in the combustor were investigated numerically. The global equivalence ratio ($\Phi$), defined using the fuel and air flow rates, was introduced to examine the flow features of the combustor. The mixing of fuel and air inside the combustor could be well understood using the fuel concentration distribution. It was found that the weak recirculating zone was formed upper the fuel-supplying tube in case of ${\Phi}$<1.0. In addition, it was found that small regions that have a negative axial velocity exist near the fuel injection ports. It is assumed that these negative axial velocity regions can stabilize a flame inside the micro cyclone combustor.

  • A set of experiments of counter-current flow limit (CCFL) was performed to improve the drawbacks of Wallis' correlation which neglected the effects of channel size, channel length, injection method and the boundary conditions at the inlet of liquid and gas phase. In this study, CCFL was observed by changing the shape of porous plate using air and water. The results show that as the size of porous increases, CCFL with a round shape of the porous plate start to disappear, In this study, the CCFL correlation was calculated and the corresponding CCFL map was developed based on the experimental results.

진동을 이용한 건식 마이크로-WEDM 에 대한 실험적 연구 및 프로세스 최적화 (Experimental Study and Process Optimization for Vibration-assisted Dry Micro-WEDM)

  • This paper presents an experimental study of a vibration-assisted dry micro-wire electrical discharge machining (${\mu}$-WEDM) utilized in high precision and micro-manufacturing area. The assisted vibration was applied to the workpiece using a piezoelectric actuator, and high pressure air was injected directly into the machining gap through a nozzle. Investigation experiments were performed to estimate the importance of input parameters and it was observed from experiment results that the width (kerf) of the cutting slot and the machining time were significantly affected by the air injection pressure and input energy. Moreover, it was also observed that there exists an optimal relationship between the machining time and input parameters including the air pressure and vibration frequency and amplitude. Central composite design based experiments were also carried out, and empirical models of the machining time and cutting slot kerf have been developed using the response surface methodology to analyze and optimize the process.

장대형 터널 내 제트 팬 위치에 따른 환기해석 (Ventilation Analysis according to Jet Fan Location in Long Tunnel)

  • This paper studies the ventilation characteristics according to the jet fan location at the long road tunnel using the CFD software 'FLUENT' which is based on the finite volume method. The tunnel model used in the analysis has a length of 1600m, a cross sectional area of $120m^3$, and is composed of 3 lanes and one way. The velocity profile, the distribution of CO concentration and the ventilation flow rate within the tunnel are analyzed, respectively. In the analysis, it is found that the dependence of the ventilation flow rate upon the jet fan location is small, but the CO concentration in the tunnel is at the lowest when the jet fans are installed near the tunnel outlet. An air stream right below the jet fan is almost inactive due to the strong stream injection near the jet fan. Thus, the pollution level below the jet fan must be higher than the other area.

라텍스 탄성 저장관을 활용한 포트식 균열주입 공법의 물리적 특성에 관한 연구 (The Physical Properties of Port Type Crack Injection Method Using Latex Elastic Storage Tube)

  • 본 연구에서는 기존의 균열보수 주입공법의 문제점을 해결하기 위하여 일반포트와는 다르게 중앙부에 높은 압력을 견딜 수 있도록 저장관의 재질은 고탄성 라텍스를 사용하였으며, 균열부위에 보수용액을 주입시 콘크리트 균열 내부에 존재하고 있는 공기가 배출될 수 있도록 TPS 공법을 개발 하였다. 또한 보수용액의 역류를 차단하는 밸브를 주입구에 설치한 새로운 주입식 포트를 개발하고 이에 대한 물리적 특성을 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 기존 주사기 공법에 비해 보수용액 주입속도가 향상되고, 시험조건에서 균열부위가 완전히 충전되는 것을 알 수 있었다. 보수 후의 품질은 압축강도 및 인장강도의 경우 주사기 공법 적용시에는 보수 후 약 20% 정도 저하하는 것으로 나타났고, TPS 공법 은 보수 후 강도가 오히려 약 2~7% 증가하는 경향으로 나타났다. 본 연구 결과를 통하여 탄성저장관을 사용한 주입식 포트 공법은 기존의 주사기 공법과 비교하여 주입성능 및 보수 후 품질이 증가하는 것을 알 수 있었고, 이를 활용하여 실구조물 적용 및 상용화를 위한 기반 자료로서 활용하고자 한다.

직접접촉식 LNG기화기 응용을 위한 칼럼 열교환기 기포특성에 관한 연구 (The Characteristics of Bubbles in a Column Heat Exchanger for the Application of Direct Contact LNG Evaporator)

  • In the present investigation, it has been proposed to utilize a direct contact heat exchanger as an evaporator to solve the difficulties such as scaling, corrosion and law thermal efficiencies, associated with the conventional evaporator. Liquified nitrozen was utilized as a working fluid to investigate basic natures of bubble dynamics in the evaporator, and spray nozzles were adopted to inject liquified nitrozen into the spray column with varying flow rates of dispersed phase fluids. Experimentations were carried out in the range of $6.54{\times}10^{-4}kg/s$ - 0.030 kg/s for dispersed phase flow rates with one, three and five nozzle holes. Observing the bubble dynamics for the evaporator the feasibility of utilizing a direct contact heat exchanger as a LNG evaporator has been evaluated. The results show that no eruption phenomena was observed in the present investigation with $LN_2$ and the interface between $N_2$ bubbles and water was fully turbulent. It is believed that the high injection velocity of $LN_2$ through the spray nozzles provide good mixing effects for both heat and mass transfers between water and $N_2$ bubbles. Ice was formed on the surface of the spray nozzle for higher $LN_2$ flow rates. However, even in this case, it is observed that the ice was detached as soon as it was formed. Under the present experimental conditions, the shapes of $LN_2$ bubbles were in the spherical-cap region according to the Clift, Grace and Weber Graphs. The height of foam region caused by the breakup of larger bubbles keeps increasing with high injection velocities until it reaches it's maximum height.

  • 본 연구에서는 CCFL에 영향을 미치는 관의 크기, 길이, 주입구 형상 등 변화 에 대한 현상해석과 이의 영향을 고려한 관계식의 개발에 있다. 그러므로 본 실험에 서의 물의 주입량을 관에 수막(film)이 형성시킬 수 있는 유량으로 고정시킨 상태에서 공기의 유량을 증가시켜, CCFL이 발생하였을때 공기와 물의 유량을 측정하였다. 그 리고 관의 길이, 크기 그리고 물의 주입구 구조(예각, 둔간, 톱니, 다공)의 변화에 따 른 CCFL의 영향에 관하여 실험을 수행하였다.

  • Experimental and analytical researches have been conducted on the twin-fluid atomizers for better droplet breakup during the past decades. But, the studies on the disintegration mechanism still present a great challenge to understand the drop behavior and breakup structure. In an effort to describe the aerodynamic behavior of the sprays issuing from the internal mixing counter-swirling nozzle, the spatial distribution of axial (U) radial (V) and tangential (W) components of droplet velocities are investigated across the radial distance at several axial locations of Z=30, 50, 80, 120 and 170mm, respectively. Experiments were conducted for the liquid flow rates which was kept constant at 7.95 g/s and the air injection pressures were varied from 20 kPa to 140 kPa. Counter-swirling internal mixing nozzles manufactured at angles of $15^{\circ},\;30^{\circ},\;45^{\circ}$ and $60^{\circ}$ the central axis with axi-symmetric tangential-drilled holes was considered. The distributions of velocities and turbulence intensities are comparatively analyzed. PDPA is installed to specify spray flows, which have been conducted along the axial downstream distance from the nozzle exit. Ten thousand of sampling data was collected at each point with time limits of 30 second. 3-D automatic traversing system is used to control the exact measurement. It is observed that the sprays with all swirl angle have the maximum SMD for on air injection pressure of 20 kPa and 140 kPa with centerline, respectively. The nozzle with swirl angle of $60^{\circ}$ has vest performance.

이중동축 메탄/공기 층류 부분 예혼합화염에서의 화염구조와 자발광 배출 특성;안쪽관 연료주입의 영향 (Flame Structure and Light Emission Characteristics in Coaxial Laminar Partially Premixed $CH_{4}/Air$ Flames;Effect of Central Fuel Injection)

  • In this study, the effect of central fuel injection on a coaxial laminar $CH_{4}/air$ flame was experimented at the defined premixing condition(${\Phi}=1.90$, ${\sigma}=50/75/100%$, x/D=10). The partial premixing parameter are the equivalence ratio that total fuel is fixed at 200cc/min, the fuel split degree which means the percentage of fuel entering the outer tube to the total amount, and the mixing distance indicating the nonreactant mixture's homogeneity between inner tube top and burner exit. The object is to investigate the flame structure and chemiluminescence characteristics of laminar partial premixed flame as changing mixing parameters. The radical signal was acquired from ICCD camera and PMT. Each intensity was compared with Abel inverted value for measuring the effect of background light on the peak signal location and the intensity at central preheat zone. The results show that the peak location of each radical was broaden as the fuel split degree increasing because the mixing quality was enhanced. and $OH^{\ast}$ is a good indicator for flame front between reaction and preheat zone. At last $CH_{2}^{\ast}$ has the same tendency with $CH^{\ast}$ but a thinner reaction zone than $CH^{\ast}$ due to a rapid decay on the burned gas side.
