  • In this study, we investigated the durability properties of the recycled leather using shaving scrap with antioxidant. Recycled leather sheets were manufactured by mixing shaving scrap and NB latex as a binder. HALS(Hindered Amine Light Stabilizer) and UVA(UV absorbers) were used as antioxidant. Mechanical properties such as hardness, tensile strength, elongation, tear strength and abrasion resistance were measured. Light aging resistance was evaluated using UV lamp and the degree of discoloration of the recycled leather sheets using a gray scale. In addition, to evaluate heat aging and UV aging, the degree of discoloration of the recycled leather sheets over time was measured using colorimeter. Washing fastness was evaluated on the degree of dyeing of recycled leather sheets for six type of multi-fiber woven fabrics (Acetate, Cotton, Nylon-66, Polyester, Acryl, Wool). To determine whether hazardous substances were detected in recycled leather sheets, the contents of arylamine and Cr 6+ were evaluated. As a result, when used in combination with antioxidant, the heat aging and light aging of recycled leather were improved and hazardous substance were not detected.

  • Recently (2010), South Korea's aging rate is 11%. and expected to be 32.3% in 2040, and Japan's aging rate in 2010 is 23%, and in 2040 is expected to be 34.5%. As aging progresses, it is increasing with the elderly person with dementia. However, elderly welfare facilities are insufficient. To take care stability of elderly people with mental and physical disabilities, we need to prepare a lot of welfare facilities for the elderly. Whenever physical conditions and service needs change of the disability elderly, Elderly are forced to move to the other facility. They move from familiar places, beloved local base to unfamiliar places. They are under a lot of stress in order to adapt to new environment. This research is to check out the possibility of the systems and the effectiveness of various services and the flexibility of management in Japan. Takurosyo is responsible for a variety function of elderly medical welfare facilities. Within a short time, our country, has entered into a super-aged society, elderly health and welfare facilities are needed. However, because it requires enormous financial, it is difficult to build a new building in reality, However, if remodeling existing buildings, We can build many low-cost small-scale multi-functional welfare facilities such as the takurosyo. Such that facility would be available to us.

  • In this study, the influence of thermal aging on structural integrity is investigated for Gr. 91 steel. A commercial grade Gr. 91 steel is used for the virgin material, and service-exposed Gr. 91 steel is sampled from a steam pipe of a super critical plant. Time versus creep strain curves are obtained through creep tests with various stress levels at 600 ℃ for the virgin and service-exposed Gr. 91 steels, respectively. Based on the creep test results, the improved Omega model is characterized for describing the total creep strain curve for both Gr. 91 steels. The proposed parameters for creep deformation model are used for predicting the steady-state creep strain rate, creep rupture curve, and stress relaxation. Creep-fatigue damage is evaluated for the intermediate heat exchanger (IHX) in a large-scale sodium test facility of STELLA-2 by using creep deformation model with proposed creep parameters and creep rupture curve for both Gr. 91 steels. Based on the comparison results of creep fatigue damage for the virgin and service-exposed Gr. 91 steels, the thermal aging effect has been shown to be significant.

  • In this study, the relationship between trust and purchase intention, which is an outcome variable, was empirically verified by discovering the trust-forming factors of anti-aging products and developing measurement variables. In addition to the existing trust-forming factors such as perceived quality, perceived reputation, brand recognition, and customization, a newly discovered factor is 'accredited certification'. Since the anti-aging industry in Korea is an industry that directly affects consumer health, it was determined that the existing trust-forming factors had limitations in building consumer trust, and a new measure was discovered. This study conducted a survey on anti-aging product consumers and analyzed the solidity and relationship of the questions. As a result of the analysis, it was found that perceived quality, brand recognition, customization, and accredited certification among the anti-aging product trust-forming factors had a positive (+) effect on trust, and perceived reputation had a negative (-) effect on trust. appeared to affect It was found that there was a positive (+) effect between trust and purchase intention, which are the trailing variables. This study proved the meaningful relationship between trust-forming factors and trust by strategically developing and empirically and practically examining meaningful and effective trust-forming factors and measurement items. At the same time, this study is expected to significantly contribute to the establishment of marketing strategies related to anti-aging products in the future by discovering key factors for forming trust that are important for marketing in the anti-aging industry.

  • The aging society increases emergency situations of the elderly living alone and a variety of social crimes. In order to prevent them, techniques to detect emergency situations through voice are actively researched. This study proposes CutPaste-based anomaly detection model using multi-scale feature extraction in time series streaming data. In the proposed method, an audio file is converted into a spectrogram. In this way, it is possible to use an algorithm for image data, such as CNN. After that, mutli-scale feature extraction is applied. Three images drawn from Adaptive Pooling layer that has different-sized kernels are merged. In consideration of various types of anomaly, including point anomaly, contextual anomaly, and collective anomaly, the limitations of a conventional anomaly model are improved. Finally, CutPaste-based anomaly detection is conducted. Since the model is trained through self-supervised learning, it is possible to detect a diversity of emergency situations as anomaly without labeling. Therefore, the proposed model overcomes the limitations of a conventional model that classifies only labelled emergency situations. Also, the proposed model is evaluated to have better performance than a conventional anomaly detection model.

  • Bridges are critical to the civil engineering infrastructure network as they facilitate movement of people, the transportation of goods and services. Given the aging of bridge infrastructure, federal officials mandate visual inspections biennially to identify necessary repair actions which are time, cost, and labor-intensive. Additionally, the expansion joints of bridges are rarely monitored due to cost. However, expansion joints are critical as they absorb movement from thermal effects, loadings strains, impact, abutment settlement, and vehicle motion movement. Thus, the need to monitor bridge expansion joints efficiently, at a low cost, and wirelessly is desired. This paper addresses bridge joint monitoring needs to develop a cost-effective, real-time wireless system that can be validated in a full-scale bridge structure. To this end, a wireless expansion joint monitoring was developed using commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) sensors. An in-service bridge was selected as a testbed to validate the performance of the developed system compared with traditional displacement sensor, LVDT, temperature and humidity sensors. The short-term monitoring campaign with the wireless sensor system with the internet protocol version 6 over the time slotted channel hopping mode of IEEE 802.15.4e (6TiSCH) network showed reliable results, providing high potential of the developed system for effective joint monitoring at a low cost.

  • This study examined the correlations among the Berg Balance Scale, which is a clinical tool used to evaluate balance ability, spatiotemporal parameters of gait, and falling; determined the parameters most closely related to falling; and identified a discriminatory parameter and its predictability. Thirty-four subjects aged 72 to 92 years participated in this study. Following a questionnaire survey about falling, the Berg Balance Scale and spatiotemporal parameters of gait were measured. The results revealed that the incidence of falls increased with aging and an accompanying reduction in the flexion range of motion of the hip joint. The gait characteristics of elderly people who fell easily included a slower walking speed, shorter stride, and longer stance time than other elderly. When the cutoff score was set at 45, the Berg Balance Scale was able to identify correctly those individuals who truly have experience of falling than when the cutoff score was set at 39. But when the cutoff score was set at 39, the scale's specificity identifying correctly those individuals who truly have not experience of falling was higher than at the cutoff score of 45. Therefore, the Berg Balance Scale is an appropriate screening method in a clinical setting for the early detection of elderly people at risk of falling. In conclusion, elderly people with a Berg Balance Scale score. below 45 are the most likely to fall owing to their decreased balance ability.

  • To investigate and predict the long-term time-dependent behavior, such as creep, shrinkage, and relaxation of PS strands, and prestress loss in prestressed steel-concrete composite beams, named Precom, full-scale tests were conducted and the collected data were compared with those obtained from the two proposed analytical models. The combined effective modulus method (EMM)-empirical model proposed with a flowchart considered the creep effect to determine the prestress loss. Conversely, the age-adjusted effective modulus method (AEMM) with CEB-FIP equation was developed to account for the concrete aging. The results indicated that the AEMM with CEB-FIP model predicts the long-term behavior of Precom effectively.

  • A reliable and cost-effective technique for the development of corrosion damage model is introduced to predict nonlinear time-dependent corrosion wastage of steel structures. A detailed explanation on how to propose a generalised mathematical formulation of the corrosion model is investigated in this paper (Part I), and verification and application of the developed method are covered in the following paper (Part II) by adopting corrosion data of a ship's ballast tank structure. In this study, probabilistic approaches including statistical analysis were applied to select the best fit probability density function (PDF) for the measured corrosion data. The sub-parameters of selected PDF, e.g., the largest extreme value distribution consisting of scale, and shape parameters, can be formulated as a function of time using curve fitting method. The proposed technique to formulate the refined time-dependent corrosion wastage model (TDCWM) will be useful for engineers as it provides an easy and accurate prediction of the 1) starting time of corrosion, 2) remaining life of the structure, and 3) nonlinear corrosion damage amount over time. In addition, the obtained outcome can be utilised for the development of simplified engineering software shown in Appendix B.

  • Through an examination of future societal development, it was found that the demographic structure is gradually aging, thus placing higher demands on elderly welfare centers. This study conducted surveys on three elderly day care centers in the entire region, aiming to enhance the pivotal role of elderly day care centers in the welfare facilities for the elderly. The current usage status, interior architectu/ral evaluations, and questionnaire surveys of these centers were analysed. The results of investigation into the architectural environment of the elderly day care centers showed that in terms of physical environment, smaller-scale centers did not lag behind larger ones in internal facilities, but larger-scale centers excelled in spatial utilization. Furthermore, the results of questionnaire survey results revealed correlations between family relationships, health status, level of assistance required, and satisfaction with facility usage, while no correlation was found between usage time, health status, and satisfaction with facility usage. This study conducted basic investigations such as architectural and physical surveys, and questionnaire surveys on elderly day care centers. Based on the survey results, future design practices should continuously explore and innovate to meet the needs of an aging society, further improve the community care system, provide more comprehensive and meticulous services for the elderly, and lay the foundation for enhancing the quality of life for the elderly and providing comfortable services.
