Achieving the Agility of Human Resources Through Job Empowerment Practices and Job Satisfaction: Empirical Evidence from the Banking Sectors

  • Financial sectors, like other sectors with strict hierarchies, need help to be adaptive or agile enough to satisfy the needs of competitive situations. In this regard, this study aims to evaluate the influence of job satisfaction on the link between job empowerment practices and the agility of human resources and fills the gaps in the current literature. To fulfill these aims, the study employs data collected through a survey of 460 employees randomly selected across various levels of commercial banking. AMOS 25 was used to conduct a statistical data analysis by applying structural equation modelling to test the hypotheses. The findings revealed positive and direct associations between job empowerment practices, job satisfaction, and the agility of human resources. In addition, employee satisfaction served as a powerful intermediary between empowerment practices and the agility of human resources. This study is one of the first to analyze the association between these factors in this field. These results imply that banks should develop effective job empowerment strategies to increase employee job satisfaction, which can lead to a more agile workforce. As mentioned in this paper, it also has important and helpful implications for academics and banks.

Reuse of Input Queue Item Towards Economical Agile Reuse (절약형 애자일 재사용을 향한 입력 대기열 항목의 재사용)

  • The aim of the study is to combine software reuse with agile methods through reuse in the early stage of agile development. Although agile methods and software reuse have different practices and principles, these methods have common goals, such as reducing development time and costs and improving productivity. Both approaches are expected to serve as viable solutions to the demand for fast development or embracing requirement changes in the rapidly changing environments. In the present paper, we identify economical agile reuse and its type and study a reuse technique for input queue in Kanban board at the early stage of hybrid agile methods. Based on our results, we can integrate software reuse with agile methods by backlog factoring for input queue item in the hybrid Scrum and Kanban method. The proposed technique can be effectively applied to e-class applications and can reuse the input queue items, showing the combination of the two approaches. With this study, we intend to contribute to reuse in the early stage of agile development. In the future, we plan to develop a software tool for economical agile reuse.

  • The Agile movement is a phenomenon that is part of the next phase of the software engineering evolution. At the same time, globally distributed software development is another trend delivering high-quality software to global users at lower costs. In this paper, Agile Framework for Distributed Software Development (AFDSD) has been suggested, and Chameleon project of Yahoo! Inc. has been implemented based on the framework. Also, the project has been evaluated by measuring Agile adoption and improvement levels, degrees of agility and agile project success, and comparing the performance and quality with the previous version. The overall performance and satisfaction with Chameleon increased by more than 30% since Agile techniques were adopted. Our objective is to highlight successful practices and suggest a framework to support adoption and evaluation of Agile techniques in a distributed environment.

  • This paper examines how a Computer Engineering Graduate student team ran their Advanced Software Engineering Capstone project using SCRUM. The environment provided contextual challenges in terms of the on-site customer and upfront requirements document, not uncommon in a document driven single-step methodology. The paper details the methodology and practices used to run the project, and reflects on some of the challenges faced by the members of a typical software team when transitioning to a SCRUM process. The paper concludes by evaluating the success of the techniques and practices compared to the Agile Manifesto and Henrik Kniberg's Scrum checklist. The project was undertaken at South Korea's Ajou University.

  • In the quickly developing world, the idea of the conventional advancement needs to advance[1]. When applied to the advanced work environment, the conventional strategies give as much damage as they do great. Tragically, an absence of versatility in the customary techniques has prompted an inflexible work structure that is truly not viable with the present business. The Agile technique is, subsequently, a more adequate practice, in view of creating programming at a faster speed, while as yet looking after proficiency. The coordinated programming improvement strategies are concentrated in this paper. As per study results, Agile software development group needs solid client association; great light-footed task the executives' measures; item proprietor expands business esteem conveyed by group and need and draw in partners; great deft designing procedures or practices; and great advancements and advancement apparatuses[2]. This examination has suggestions for positive social change since associations that comprehend the basic components might have the option to improve project the executives' systems and money saving advantages prompting higher effectiveness, productivity, and efficiency hence profiting the board, representatives, and client. This survey paper incorporates various methodologies of Agile and their analysis.

  • Standish Group 조사에 의하면 1994년부터 2004년까지 10년간 소프트웨어 프로젝트의 원가 초과율이 180%에서 56%로 낮아졌고 납기 초과율은 164%에서 84%로 낮아져 프로젝트의 품질 수준이 높아진 것으로 조사되었다. 이러한 결과의 교훈은 SW 프로젝트를 보다 작은 시간 프레임으로 나눠 짧은 시간 프레임 내에서 설계, 프로토타이핑, 개발, 테스트를 반복적으로 수행하고 소프트웨어가 자라는 방식의 프로세스 적용이라고 설명했는데 이러한 특징을 갖는 것이 바로 애자일(Agile:기민한) 방법론이다.[1] 그렇다면 애자일 방법 적용이 과연 프로세스 품질 성숙도를 어느 정도 충족시킬 수 있는지에 대한 접근도 이제는 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 웹 서비스 제품 개발 프로세스에 Agile 방법론 중 하나인 Scrum 방법론을 적용한 조직의 사례를 통하여 프로세스 품질 성숙도 요소 충족 여부를 분석함으로써 애자일 방법론을 적용한 조직의 프로세스 품질 성숙도 측정에 도움을 줄 수 있을 것이다.

Support of Reuse in Backlog Refinement with Backlog Factoring (백로그 팩토링을 이용한 백로그 상세화에서 재사용의 지원)

  • There have been many efforts to find a new way to combine software reuse and agile software development methods. This paper studies the integration of software reuse techniques in agile methods, such as Scrum. Agile methods have the advantage of accepting frequent requirement changes, while software reuse reduces development time. Despite the rapid acceptance of the Scrum method in industry, not much emphasis has been placed on active reuse in the Scrum method, and most studies have focused on introducing agile practices into software product line engineering. However, the iterative development and backlog refinement activities of the Scrum method present the advantage of facilitating software reuse. In this paper, we identify sprint characteristics and components for reuse and suggest extended backlog refinement steps. Based on the results of this research, we integrate a backlog factoring technique into backlog refinement to support reuse in agile methods. In addition, we apply the proposed technique and demonstrate a prototype of product backlog reuse in backlog refinement for an Internet shopping mall application.

Guidelines for Implementing Configuration Management in Extreme Programming based on CMMI (CMMI 기반의 XP를 위한 형상 관리 프로세스 구축 지침)

  • The XP, the representative methodology of Agile software development, maximizes the effectiveness of the development by focusing on development itself and using primitive and basic process definition that can be easily implemented in the fields. However, the most of XP's practices came from those of engineering and the manogement practices of work product tend to be overlooked. The research on the implementation of those manogement practices has not been performed enough. Because of deficiency of processes that guide the change control over major baselines of work product and that describe proper continuous integration and refactoring in XP, the integrity of those work products is difficult to be guaranteed. To fulfill this work product integrity, CM(configuration manogement) should be hired and CMMI(Capability Maturity Model Integration) is considered to be the best references for that purpose, CMMI defines the required practices of CM and leave implementation details to the organization so that it could customize those practices based on the characteristics of its development methods. The CM process implementation guidelines based on CMMI could provides work product integrity with a way of keeping XP's agility that includes continuous integration, refactoring and small release. In this research, we selected CM process factors applicable to XP among CMMI's CM practices and based on them we developed the CM implementation guidelines.

  • 많은 SI프로젝트에서 유스케이스 모델링 기법을 사용하여 요구 분석을 수행하여 왔지만 모델링 기준과 가이드의 상이함으로 인해 프로젝트 현장에서 많은 문제점을 야기하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 애자일 방법론의 장점을 접목하여 애자일한 유스케이스 시나리오 작성법 및 사용자스토리를 개념을 차용한 두 단계 우선순위 부여를 통하여 요구 분석의 효율성과 생산성 제고방안을 제안한다.

  • Because of increased global competition, rapid technology development, and shorten product life cycle, manufacturing firms needed to quickly adapt to the changes of customer and competitive environment. During last 20 years, lean production and agile manufacturing have been used to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of manufacturing firms. This study is purposed to examine the antecedents of agility and to statistically analyze not only the effect of antecedents on agility but also the effect of agility on business performance. This study used the structural equation model and found that intra-organizational cooperation, inter-organizational cooperation, and mutual trust had the significant effects on agility. And it was found that agility had a significant effect on operation performance and strategic performance. Agility has been one of important competitive advantages enhancing the supply chain process and firm's competitiveness. This study contributes to widen the practices of agility capability.
