MIPMANET에서 효율적인 이동성 에이전트 광고기법 (An Efficient Mobility Agent Advertisement Mechanism for MIPMANET)

  • 무선 네트워크의 MANET(Mobile Ad Hoc Networks)에서 이동노드의 이동성을 보장하기 위해 제안된 Mobile IP를 통합하려는 시도에 대한 연구가 활발히 이루어지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 애드 혹 네트워크와 유선망의 통합망에서 노드들의 이동성 서비스를 지원하기 위한 방안을 제시한다. 통합망에서 Mobile IP 에이전트가 주기적으로 에이전트 광고메시지를 전달하여 자신의 애드 혹 네트워크 영역내부에 있는 이동노드들의 정보를 유지하기 위한 MAAM(Mobility Agent Advertisement Mechanism)과 에이전트 광고메시지에 대한 등록메시지를 중간노드가 취합(aggregation)하여 에이전트에게 전달하는 AMAAM (Aggregation based Mobility Agent Advertisement Mechanism) 메커니즘을 제안한다. 제안된 기법은 MIPMANET에서 에이전트 광고를 위한 메커니즘에 적용할 수 있다. 성능 평가는 ns2 시뮬레이션을 통해 패킷 전달 비율과 데이타 처리량 그리고 이동노드들의 에너지 소모량에 대해서 그 성능을 평가한다.

Comparative Study on the Structural and Thermodynamic Features of Amyloid-Beta Protein 40 and 42

  • Deposition of amyloid-${\beta}$ ($A{\beta}$) proteins is the conventional pathological hallmark of Alzheimer's disease (AD). The $A{\beta}$ protein formed from the amyloid precursor protein is predominated by the 40 residue protein ($A{\beta}40$) and by the 42 residue protein ($A{\beta}42$). While $A{\beta}40$ and $A{\beta}42$ differ in only two amino acid residues at the C-terminal end, $A{\beta}42$ is much more prone to aggregate and exhibits more neurotoxicity than $A{\beta}40$. Here, we investigate the molecular origin of the difference in the aggregation propensity of these two proteins by performing fully atomistic, explicit-water molecular dynamics simulations. Then, it is followed by the solvation thermodynamic analysis based on the integral-equation theory of liquids. We find that $A{\beta}42$ displays higher tendency to adopt ${\beta}$-sheet conformations than $A{\beta}40$, which would consequently facilitate the conversion to the ${\beta}$-sheet rich fibril structure. Furthermore, the solvation thermodynamic analysis on the simulated protein conformations indicates that $A{\beta}42$ is more hydrophobic than $A{\beta}40$, implying that the surrounding water imparts a larger thermodynamic driving force for the self-assembly of $A{\beta}42$. Taken together, our results provide structural and thermodynamic grounds on why $A{\beta}42$ is more aggregation-prone than $A{\beta}40$ in aqueous environments.

전자빔 처리된 다이아몬드의 분광학적 특성 연구 (Study on the Spectroscopic Characteristics of Irradiated Diamonds)

  • 전자빔 조사를 조사량에 따라 단계별로 수행하면서 전자빔을 조사하는 동안 다이아몬드 내에서 일어나는 질소관련 결함의 변화와 색상의 변화를 분광학적 방법으로 측정 분석하였다. 일반적으로 질소의 양이 적을수록 공공이 쉽게 생성되며 A집합체보다 B집합체가 많은 시료에서 공공이 빠르게 생성된다는 결과를 보였다. 그 이유로 공공의 생성 정도가 전자빔에 의해 파괴될 수 있는 크기를 가진 결함의 양 즉, platelets에 비례한다는 결론을 추론할 수 있었다. 그리고 조사량이 증가할수록 옅은 녹색을 지닌 청색에서 짙은 청색으로 변화한다. 이러한 청색의 발현은 GR1센터의 점진적인 증가로 GR1센터 흡수포논에 의한 흡수띠의 영역은 더욱 확장되어 가시광선이 투과하는 최고 파장대가 530 nm에서 500 nm로 이동하면서 나타나는 현상이다.

Effect of Modified Casein to Whey Protein Ratio on Dispersion Stability, Protein Quality and Body Composition in Rats

  • The present study was designed to investigate the effects of protein formula with different casein (C) to whey protein (W) ratios on dispersion stability, protein quality and body composition in rats. Modification of the casein to whey protein (CW) ratio affected the extent of protein aggregation, and heated CW-2:8 showed a significantly increased larger particle (>100 ㎛) size distribution. The largest protein aggregates were formed by whey protein self-aggregation. There were no significant differences in protein aggregation when the CW ratios changed from 10:0 to 5:5. Based on the protein quality assessment (CW-10:0, CW-8:2, CW-5:5, and CW-2:8) for four weeks, CW-10:0 showed a significantly higher feed intake (p<0.05), but the high proportion of whey protein in the diet (CW-5:5 and CW-2:8) increased the feed efficiency ratio, protein efficiency ratio, and net protein ratio compared to other groups. Similarly, CW-2:8 showed greater true digestibility compared to other groups. No significant differences in fat mass and lean mass analyzed by dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry were observed. A significant difference was found in the bone mineral density between the CW-10:0 and CW-2:8 groups (p<0.05), but no difference was observed among the other groups. Based on the results, CW-5:5 improved protein quality without causing protein instability problems in the dispersion.

Publish/Subscribe Protocol in Wireless Sensor Networks: Improved Reliability and Timeliness

  • The rapidly-evolving demand of applications using wireless sensor networks in several areas such as building and industrial automation or smart cities, among other, makes it necessary to determine and provide QoS support mechanisms which can satisfy the requirements of applications. In this paper we propose a mechanism that establishes different QoS levels, based on Publish/Subscribe model for wireless networks to meet application requirements, to provide reliable delivery of packet and timeliness. The first level delivers packets in a best effort way. The second one intends to provide reliable packet delivery with a novel approach for Retransmission Timeout (RTO) calculation, which adjusts the RTO depending on the subscriber Packet Delivery Ratio (PDR). The third one provides the same reliable packet delivery as the second one, but in addition, it provides data aggregation trying to be efficient in terms of energy consumption and the use of network bandwidth. The last one provides timeliness in the packet delivery. We evaluate each QoS Level with several performance metrics such as PDR, Message Delivery Ratio, Duplicated and Retransmitted Packet Ratio and Packet Timeliness Ratio to demonstrate that our proposal provides significant improvements based on the increase of the PDR obtained.

트리 기반 센서네트워크에서 전력 소모 균형을 위한 슬랏 스케쥴링 알고리즘 (A Slot Scheduling Algorithm for Balancing Power Consumption in Tree-based Sensor Networks)

  • 본 논문에서는 트리 기반의 센서네트워크에서 전력소모의 균형을 이루기 위한 시간 슬랏을 할당하는 알고리즘을 제안한다. 트리 토폴로지를 갖는 센서네트워크에서는 낮은 트리 깊이를 갖는 노드들이 더 많은 패킷을 처리하기 때문에 더 많은 전력을 소모한다. 따라서, 네트워크 생명이 단축되는 문제가 있다. 본 논문에서 제안하는 슬랏 스케줄링 알고리즘은 각 노드에게 수신 슬랏들을 먼저 할당하고 송신 슬랏들을 할당한다. 이러한 할당 방식은 패킷 결합과 필터링을 용이하게 하기 때문에 낮은 트리 깊이에 위치한 노드들의 부하를 감소시키는 효과가 있다. 시뮬레이션을 사용하여 제안한 알고리즘을 TreeMAC 에서 제안한 프레임-슬랏 할당 알고리즘과 비교함으로써 전력소모의 균형을 이룬다는 것을 확인하였다.

Photocatalytic activities and surface properties of e-beam treated carbon paper deposited $TiO_2$ using Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD)

  • Thin film of $TiO_2$ deposited on carbon paper was fabricated by atomic layer deposition (ALD) using titanium isopropoxide (TTIP) and $H_2O$ as precursors. In this work, the photocatalytic activities of $TiO_2$ films with and without e-beam treatment were compared. The samples were treated by e-beam using e-beam energy of 1MeV and exposure range between 5 and 15kGy. The photocatalytic activity was evaluated by the photocatalytic degradation of methyleneblue (MB) under UV irradiation (365nm) at room temperature using an UV-vis spectroscopy. The surface properties were characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The sample treated by the low radiation dose has more catalytic activity than other ones. SEM images show that the high radiation dose caused the $TiO_2$ to aggregation on carbon paper. Due to the aggregation of $TiO_2$, the partially exposed carbon paper was oxidized.

Dimensioning of linear and hierarchical wireless sensor networks for infrastructure monitoring with enhanced reliability

  • Wireless Sensor Networks have extensively been utilized for ambient data collection from simple linear structures to dense tiered deployments. Issues related to optimal resource allocation still persist for simplistic deployments including linear and hierarchical networks. In this work, we investigate the case of dimensioning parameters for linear and tiered wireless sensor network deployments with notion of providing extended lifetime and reliable data delivery over extensive infrastructures. We provide a single consolidated reference for selection of intrinsic sensor network parameters like number of required nodes for deployment over specified area, network operational lifetime, data aggregation requirements, energy dissipation concerns and communication channel related signal reliability. The dimensioning parameters have been analyzed in a pipeline monitoring scenario using ZigBee communication platform and subsequently referred with analytical models to ensure the dimensioning process is reflected in real world deployment with minimum resource consumption and best network connectivity. Concerns over data aggregation and routing delay minimization have been discussed with possible solutions. Finally, we propose a node placement strategy based on a dynamic programming model for achieving reliable received signals and consistent application in structural health monitoring with multi hop and long distance connectivity.

  • 무선 센서 네트워크는 여러 가지 제약점을 가지고 있기 때문에 에너지 효율성과 보안성 제공은 중요한 이슈이다. 기존에 라우팅에 있어서 tree-based와 multipath-based라는 두 가지 접근법을 효과적으로 통합시킨 Tributaries and Deltas(TD)가 제안된 바가 있으며, 본 논문에서는 TD 구조에 계층성이 더해진 클러스터 기반의 TD를 제안하여 기존 TD보다 향상된 성능을 증명하였다. 클러스터 기반의 TD 구조는 두 가지 상황에서 기존의 TD보다 더 좋은 성능을 가짐을 보여 주었다. 하나는 베이스스테이션(BS)이 잘못된 정보를 받았다 판단하고 재전송을 요구할 때와, 또 다른 하나는 BS가 이동성을 가지고 있을 때이다. 또한 제안된 구조에 적합한 키 설립 메커니즘을 제안하여 에너지 효율성뿐만 아니라 보안성도 고려한 새로운 센서 네트워크 구조를 제안하였고 TinyOS 2.0을 기반으로 TmoteSKY 센서 보드에 구현하여 실제 네트워크에서의 응용 가능성을 입증하였다.

독립운전 마이크로그리드의 능동형 동기 투입 제어에 관한 연구 (Study on the Dynamic Synchronizing Control of An Islanded Microgrid)

  • A microgrid is an aggregation of multiple distributed generators (DGs) such as renewable energy sources, conventional generators, and energy storage systems that provide both electric power and thermal energy. Generally, a microgrid operates in parallel with the main grid. However, there are cases in which a microgrid operates in islanded mode, or in a disconnected state. Islanded microgrid can change its operational mode to grid-connected operation by reconnection to the grid, which is referred to as synchronization. Generally, a single machine simply synchronizes with the grid using a synchronizer. However, the synchronization of microgrid that operate with multiple DGs and loads cannot be controlled by a traditional synchronizer, but needs to control multiple generators and energy storage systems in a coordinated way. This is not a simple job, considering that a microgrid consists of various power electronics-based DGs as well as alternator-based generators that produce power together. This paper introduces the results of research examining an active synchronizing control system that consists of the network-based coordinated control of multiple DGs. Consequently, it provides the microgrid with a deterministic and reliable reconnection to the grid. The proposed method is verified by using the test cases with the experimental setup of a microgrid pilot plant.
