An agent based geographic routing protocol is proposed to improve the well-known geographic routing protocol-GPSR routing protocol. In the proposed scheme, the agent is selected by sink node which concern about the source node's position as well as agent candidate's state. So packets will first be forwarded to agent and next step is to be forwarded to their final goal- sink node from agent. During the next hop selection process, nodes select their neighbors by considering not only position but also their average available buffer size. This results in efficient selection of next hop node in congestion area, and then increases the successful packet delivery ratio. The simulation is conducted for two scenarios: general number of connections and large number of connections in our map. Results show that new method with agent achieves improved performance in successful packet delivery ratio when compares to GPSR without our scheme.
Today's network consists of a large number of routers and servers running a variety of applications. In this paper, we have designed and constructed the general simulation environment of network security model composed of multiple IDSs agent and a firewall agent which coordinate by CNP (Contract Net Protocol). The CNP, the methodology for efficient integration of computer systems on heterogeneous environment such as distributed systems, is essentially a collection of agents, which cooperate to resolve a problem. Command console in the CNP is a manager who controls the execution of agents or a contractee, who performs intrusion detection. In the knowledge-based network security model, each model of simulation environment is hierarchically designed by DEVS (Discrete Event system Specification) formalism. The purpose of this simulation is the application of rete pattern-matching algorithm speeding up the inference cycle phases of the intrusion detection expert system. we evaluate the characteristics and performance of CNP architecture with rete pattern-matching algorithm.
This study investigated how much the spread of traffic control information affect the traffic congestion in order to identify the behavior of the individual drivers that impacts on the entire transport system. For this purpose, agent-based transportation model was constructed. GIS data were directly used for the transportation model and the processing steps of the simulation results are presented. The results showed that the average speed was not lowered when the traffic information was provided to 30 to 70% of total drivers. In contrast, the driver's average speed is reduced when he traffic information was provided to less than 20% or 80% or more. In summary, the provision of traffic information to drivers has an influence on the traffic flow and bypassing vehicles can generate local congestion. This results can be used as a basis for the future direction of road transport policy.

The UAV systems working in difficult environment should be able to performs various actions autonomously required to achieve the given mission without the human interventions. However, the actual tests for such UAV system will take heavy cost. Thus, the simulation test in advance before the actual test is important. This paper proposes a 3D visual simulation environment for autonomous agent-based UAV systems. The several simulation tests performed on the rescue scenarios will demonstrate our techniques.
Call centers do not simply play a role of responding to customers' calls, but they have developed into a core unit for maintaining competitiveness through services, marketing, or sales. Since the service quality of call centers heavily affects customer satisfaction, organizations have focused on enhancing it by reducing waiting time and increasing service level. One of the techniques, which improve the service quality of call centers, is to employ multi-skilled agents that can handle more than one type of calls. This study deals with three issues relevant to multi-skilled agents. First, we analyze how the way of allocating a specific group of agents to a set of skills affects the performance of call centers. Secondly, we investigate the relationship between the number of multi-skilled agents and the performance of call centers. Finally, we examine the impact of agent selection rules on the performance of call centers. Two selection rules are compared : the first rule is to assign a call to any available agent at random while the other rule is to assign a call preferably to single-skilled agents over multi-skilled agents when applicable. Based on simulation experiments, we suggest three implications. First, as the length of cycles in the agent-skill configuration network becomes longer, call centers achieve higher service level and shorter waiting time. Secondly, simulation results show that as the portion of multi-skilled agents increases, the performance of call centers improves. However, most of the improvement is attained when the portion of multi-skilled agents is relatively low. Finally, the agent selection rules do not significantly affect the call centers' performance, but the rule of preferring single-skilled agents tends to distribute the workload among agents more equally.
This paper proposes a new agent based mechanism called a Multicast Handoff Agent (MHA) to reduce handoff latency for IP multicast. The MHA acts as a proxy for an Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP) of Mobile Nodes (MNs) at each Base Station (BS) and keeps information for members of multicast groups in a cell. When an MN moves to a next cell, the MHA immediately sends unsolicited reports without waiting for the IGMP query. The mechanism was evaluated through simulation and analysis and compared with the IGMPv2 for micro-mobility and the IGMP traffic. Simulation results show that handoff latency for micro-mobility can be largely reduced and the IGMP control traffic on the wireless links during the duration of membership can be eliminated. Thus, this mechanism is superior to the existing mechanism in both micro-mobility and battery duration, as the need not to reply to a query conserves battery power.

In recent warfare, importance of counter-fire is increased. New weapon system and counter-fire have critical impact on defeating of the enemy. At an initial battle counter-fire, we need to study about striking plan against the enemy mine artillery. In this paper, we studied, using MANA(agent based model), how much cannon's hit probability and UAV-based target acquisition have influence on striking the mine artillery. We constructed MANA model based on the characteristics of a regional database of Korean peninsula. If we develop detail database of the ROK Army, the proposed MANA model can be used as a war-game model for the regimental level of the Army.

Q-learning is a kind of reinforcement learning where the agent solves the given task based on rewards received from the environment. Most research done in the field of Q-learning has focused on discrete domains, although the environment with which the agent must interact is generally continuous. Thus we need to devise some methods that enable Q-learning to be applicable to the continuous problem domain. In this paper, an extended fuzzy rule is proposed so that it can incorporate Q-learning. The interpolation technique, which is widely used in memory-based learning, is adopted to represent the appropriate Q value for current state and action pair in each extended fuzzy rule. The resulting structure based on the fuzzy inference system has the capability of solving the continuous state about the environment. The effectiveness of the proposed structure is shown through simulation on the cart-pole system.

With the increase in amount of data and information available on the web, there have been high demands on personalized information retrieval services to provide context-aware services for the web users. This paper proposes a novel dynamic multi-agent context-awareness user profile construction method based on ontology to incorporate concepts and properties to model the user profile. This method comprehensively considers the frequency and the specific of the concept in one document and its corresponding domain ontology to construct the user profile, based on which, a fuzzy c-means clustering method is adopted to cluster the user's interest domain, and a dynamic update policy is adopted to continuously consider the change of the users' interest. The simulation result shows that along with the gradual perfection of the our user profile, our proposed system is better than traditional semantic based retrieval system in terms of the Recall Ratio and Precision Ratio.

This paper proposes a new fault restoration method which adopts the recloser as top agent to release the problems of the data concentration and fault processing delay of the existing DAS(distribution Automation System) under the ubiquitous distribution system. In proposed method, top agent collects the data based on the multi-casting communication with the tie switches of the interconnection point, and then selects a closed switch(tie switch) to transfer the sound outage load to other feeders based on the heuristic search strategy step by step until the load transfer work is finished. Here, a new heuristic rule is developed which can guarantee the relational load balancing and line loss from the collected voltage data. Finally, the several faults are simulated for typical multi-section and multi-interconnection distribution system to prove the effectiveness of the proposed strategy, in particular, for each simulation cases, the load balancing index and line loss index of the obtained solution from the proposed method is compared with those of all of feasible solutions.
