A Study On design & implementation of the intelligent robot simulator which is connected to an URC system (URC시스템과 연계한 지능형 로봇 시뮬레이터의 설계 및 구현에 관한 연구)

  • Concept of URC does "with me wherever when, and the robot" which provides necessary service to me can be simply defined. This paper uses URC technology and various robots are implemented with a design. That is, we are going to implement that a user controls a virtual robot by communication between URC server with a design. We used an intelligent robot simulation tool, and a developer was easy, and it was intelligent, and we were connected to active URC server, and modeling did a system for simulation to be able to do an URC robot usefully. It was connected to an URC system and various robots and environments were composed with 3D, and, in this paper, a design and implementation did an intelligent robot simulation system so that it was possible by various contents development through simulation. The URC communication protocol and the URC server were based on a Planet v.1.2 ; Network Protocol, CAMUS(Context-Aware Middleware for URC Systems); URC Server, SAM(Service Agent Manager) v.1.2 ; Service API module developed in Electronics & Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI).

Design and Implementation of Mobile Platform for Personalized Media Streaming Service (사용자 맞춤형 미디어 스트리밍 서비스를 위한 모바일 플랫폼 설계 및 구현)

  • Streaming Technology can support the real-time playback without downloading and storing multimedia data in local HDD. So, client browser or plug-in can represent multimedia data before the end of file transmission using streaming technology. Recently, the demand for efficient real-time playback and transmission of large amounts of multimedia data is growing rapidly. But most users' connections over network are not fast and stable enough to download large chunks of multimedia data. In this paper, we propose an intelligent IP streaming system based on personalized media service. The proposed IP streaming system enables users to get an intelligent recommendation of multimedia contents based on the user preference information stored on the streaming server or the home media server. The supposed intelligent IP streaming system consists of Server Metadata Agent, Pumping Server, Contents Storage Server, Client Metadata Agent and Streaming Player. And in order to implement the personalized media service, the user information, user preference information and client device information are managed under database concept. Moreover, users are assured of seamless access of streamed content event if they switch to another client device by implementing streaming system based on user identification and device information. We evaluate our approach with manufacturing home server system and simulation results.

  • The Power system is one of the biggest and complicated non-linear systems. It is necessary to develop the power defense system to manage the power system efficiently and to prevent from the power failure, black out in nationwide, that is caused by a specific bus or power transmission line. In this paper, the power system developed here is called 'Power Management Agent System' in which a protocol to communicate for this system is developed. The protocol is designed based on the IEEE 1344 for synchronized system with GPS. Also we developed a simulation system to demonstrate how to implement the protocol.

  • In previous research of social dilemma, there is no extended game that the players can select one game out of some social dilemma games. We propose this kind of game as "Distributed Social Dilemma" In this game, each player tries to acquire the adaptive strategy throughout local interactions. We make use of GA as evolutionary operations. In this paper, our purpose is to examine how the game selection of players influences the evolution of cooperation in distributed social dilemma.   • This paper presents a cooperative action controller of a multi-agent system. To achieve an object, i.e. win a game, it is necessary that a robot has its own roles, actions and work with each other. The presented incorporated action controller consists of the role selection, action selection and execution layer. In the first layer, a fuzzy logic controller is used. Each robot selects its own action and makes its own path trajectory in the second layer. In the third layer, each robot performs their own action based on the velocity information which is sent from main computer. Finally, simulation shows that each robot selects proper roles and incorporates actions by the proposed controller.

  • In this paper, the ALT (ALTernative) board and a NetLogo extension module are developed for the active participatory simulation (APS) learning. Through the participatory simulation with HubNet each student can attend the experiment as one of clients. Only one HubNet server, however, is able to use an external device so that the bifocal modeling based learning with multiple users is impossible. In order to overcome the drawback, and enable clients participate into the experiment and collect the experimental data and the measured data, an ATmega 32 based board and its firmware are developed. In addition, Java extension module based on TCP/IP socket interfaces is developed to exchange the data with HubNet server. Finally, we show some NetLogo program examples to use the developed hardware and software for APS and seek the way to use them for science education.

  • Freeway Corridors consist of urban freeways and parallel arterials that drivers can use alternatively. Ramp metering in freeways and signal control in arterials are contemporary traffic control methods that have been developed and applied in order to improve traffic conditions of freeway corridors. However, most of the existing studies have focused on either optimal ramp metering in freeways, or progression signal strategies between arterial intersections. There have been no traffic control systems in Korea that integrates the freeway ramp metering and arterial signal control. The effective control strategies for freeway operations may cause negative effects on arterial traffic. On the other hand, traffic congestion and bottleneck phenomenon of arterials due to the increasing peak-hour travel demand and ineffective signal operation may generate an accessibility problem to freeway ramps. Thus, the main function of the freeway which is the through-traffic process has not been successful. The purpose of this study is to develop an integrated control model that connects freeway ramp metering systems and signal control systems in arterial intersections. And Optimization of integrated control model which consists of ramp metering and signal control is another purpose. Optimization results are verified by comparison with the results from MATDYMO.

Designing a Reinforcement Learning-Based 3D Object Reconstruction Data Acquisition Simulation (강화학습 기반 3D 객체복원 데이터 획득 시뮬레이션 설계)

  • The technology of 3D reconstruction, primarily relying on point cloud data, is essential for digitizing objects or spaces. This paper aims to utilize reinforcement learning to achieve the acquisition of point clouds in a given environment. To accomplish this, a simulation environment is constructed using Unity, and reinforcement learning is implemented using the Unity package known as ML-Agents. The process of point cloud acquisition involves initially setting a goal and calculating a traversable path around the goal. The traversal path is segmented at regular intervals, with rewards assigned at each step. To prevent the agent from deviating from the path, rewards are increased. Additionally, rewards are granted each time the agent fixates on the goal during traversal, facilitating the learning of optimal points for point cloud acquisition at each traversal step. Experimental results demonstrate that despite the variability in traversal paths, the approach enables the acquisition of relatively accurate point clouds.

An Energy-Efficient Mobile P2P Streaming Structure Using Agent Peers (에이전트 피어를 이용한 에너지 효율적인 모바일 P2P 스트리밍 구조)

  • With advances in wireless networks and advent of powerful mobile devices such as smart phones, the demand for mobile IPTV services has been increasing. It is essential to minimize the energy consumption of mobile devices because their battery capacity is limited. In this paper, we therefore propose a new streaming structure in P2P-based mobile IPTV systems to minimize the energy consumption of mobile peers using agent peers. Agent peers can decrease the energy consumption of mobile peers significantly by performing streaming functionality and exchanging control messages for joining and leaving overlay networks in place of corresponding mobile peers. Finally, by simulation experiments using an energy model, we show that our proposed streaming structure can increase the lifetime of mobile peers using agent peers.

Interchange Algorithm for VoD System (VOD 시스템에서의 Interchange Agent 운영 알고리즘)

  • This paper proposes a approach to configure efficient video-on-demand system by introducing Multicast and Cache Video-on-Demand (MCVoD) system. As a key element or the MCVoD system, interchange agent provides this system with multicasting and switching functions. With the multicasting, the MCVoD system is able to reduce the load on the network as well as VoD servers by transmitting only one video request instead of sending multiple requests on a same video stream. The switching enables clients to receive the lust stream of requested video streams instantly without waiting time and also allows avoiding undesirable duplication of video streams in the system. With various experiment results through simulation about waiting tine and cache hit ratio, we show that the MCVoD system employing the interchange agent provides better performance than current uni-proxy based system.
