Synthesis and Photo Luminescent Characteristics of SrAl2O4:Eu2+,Dy3+ Phosphor using Polymer Matrix (폴리머 매트릭스를 전구체로 사용한 SrAl2O4:Eu2+,Dy3+ 축광성 형광체의 합성 및 형광 특성)

  • [ $SrAl_2O_4:Eu^{2+},\;Dy^{3+}$ ] phosphor was synthesized using the impregnation method, and its photoluminescence and long-afterglow properties were investigated, A mixture of $Sr(NO_3)_2,\;Al(NO_3)_2\;9H_2O,\;EuCl_3\;6H_2O,\;DyCl_3\;6H_2O,\;NdCl_3\;6H_2O$ salts were dissolved in distilled water and impregnating into the polymer precursor. After drying, the impregnated mixture was heat treated at $900-1400^{\circ}C$ for 2h in a $N_2-H_2$ reduction atmosphere. The microstructure and crystal structure of the $SrAl_2O_4:Eu^{2+},\;Dy^{3+}$ powders were examined by scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction, respectively. The photoluminescence spectra showed an excitation band along over wide wavelength of 250-450nm, and a broaden emission with a maxima peak at 360nm. In addition, the spectra also showed a good long after glow that decayed over a 1000sec period after 10 min excitation illumination.

  • Effects of delay on the discharge time lag and the controllability of weak discharge mode were studied under single cell driving circumstances of ac PDP. It was found that sufficient number of priming particle is necessary for inducing weak discharge in ramp voltage driving. Discharge time lag was reduced dramatically under priming condition. It is speculated that the increasement of strong discharge is related to the reduction of the $Xe^*(^3P_1)$ particles during the after glow.

Afterglow Properties of LLBO Scintillation Crystal (리튬 루테튬 보레이트 섬광단결정의 잔광 특성)

  • We grew a $Li_6Lu(BO_3)_3:Ce^{3+}$ single crystal as a new scintillator. And, the scintillation and thermoluminescence properties of the scintillator were determined. The emission spectrum of $Li_6Lu(BO_3)_3:Ce^{3+}$ is located in the range of 370~530 nm, peaking at 416 nm and 439 nm, due to the $5d{\rightarrow}4f$ transition of $Ce^{3+}$ ions. The fluorescence decay time of the crystal is composed two components. The fast component is 34 ns (84%) and the slow component is 125 ns (16%) of the crystal. The afterglow is caused by the electron and hole traps in the crystal lattice. We determined physical parameters of the traps in the crystal. The thermoluminescence trap are composed a trap. The determined activation energy (E) and frequency factor (s) of the TL trap are 1.05 eV and $4.4{\times}10^{10}s^{-1}$, respectively.

용량 결합형 플라즈마의 유전체기판의 잔류전위 양상 관찰

  • 플라즈마를 이용한 cleaning, etching, sputtering 공정에서 발생하는 마이크로아크방전이나 turn-off후의 잔류정전기는 공정대상물의 절연파괴나 전자소자에 전기적 손상을 유발함으로서 공정의 불량률을 증가시키는 중요한 요인이 된다. 본 연구에서는 잔류정전기를 관찰하기위하여 실린더형 챔버구조의 평행평판 전극구조를 지닌 용량결합형 플라즈마에서 powered electrode에 부착된 유전체 기판 표면의 잔류 정전기의 변화 양상을 planar type probe로 측정해보았다. 300mtorr 압력에서 아르곤가스로 발생시킨 플라즈마가 존재할 때 낮은 음전위 평균값을 가지던 기판표면 전위가 전력인가가 중지되었을때 20V 가량의 양전위를 가질 수 있음을 측정 하였고, 이것을 COMSOL MULTIPHYSICS TOOL을 활용한 시뮬레이션과 비교하였다. 이 현상이 파워인가 전극이 플라즈마 영역에 노출되느냐에 따라 발생할 수 있음을 알게 되었고, 그 크기와 지속시간은 입력전력 및 블로킹 커패시터와 유전체 기판의 정전용량에 의존함을 확인 하였다.

Influence of intermixed gas on stable townsend discharge (안정 Townsend 방전에 대한 혼입가스의 영향)

  • The Townsend discharge domain is generally observed with stable positive characteristics in N$_{2}$ gas discharge at low pressures differently in the others, which transfer immediately to glow dischage after self-sustaining discharge starts. In this paper, the presence of the stable Townsend discharge, applied voltage-discharge current characteristics and the effect of disgased electrode surface on stable townsend discharge are studied experimentaly in N$_{2}$ gas mixed with 0.05% of No in volume. As the result of this experiment, the stable Townssend discharge is observed only in pure nitrogen with the valve of pd.geq.8[torr.cm] (p=gas pressure, d=gap spacing), but not in gas mixtures. This is considered that No gas in gas mixtures disexcites effectively the metestble state of nitrogen.

  • The last century of lighting has been dominated by incandescent, fluorescent and high-intensity discharge(HID)light sources. In the late 1970's, after green LEDs were invented, Dr. Ching Tang at Eastman Kodak discovered that sending an electrical impulse through carbon compound caused such material glow. Present day LED commercial packages have reached 100 lm/W, comparable to the efficacies of fluorescent and certain HID lamps. LED products available today are market as "Green-Industry" but actually low light output compared to typical light sources. The combination of high price and low light output make them a poor replacement for current technology. It is very important to compare new LED products to the most efficient conventional technology that could be used for any specific application. As LED technology advances, costs decrease, and efficiency improves, LEDs will build market share in the general illumination market.

  • Long lasting phosphor materials are in great demand for their applications in the area of light emitting diodes (LEDs), commercial displays and warning signals. After glow longevity, brightness, photo-resistance and chemical and environment stability are most important qualities that are desired for these materials. Alumina as host lattice with various rare earth elements has been found to be good at the same time inexpensive material for the synthesis of the phosphor materials. This communication explored the effect of mixed rare earth metal on the luminescence properties of these materials for the first time. Various permutations and combinations of $Sr^{2+}$ and $Ba^{2+}$ have been investigated in order to achieve robust and high luminescence characteristics in the tailored phosphor materials.

  • Most vehicle's exhaust emissions come from the cold transient period of the FTP-75 test. In this study, UEGI technology was developed to help close-coupled catalytic converter (CCC) reach light-off temperature within a few seconds after cold-start. In the UEGI system, unburned exhaust mixture is ignited by four glow plugs installed upstream of the catalyst. Experimental results showed that the temperature of CCC rises faster with the UEGI technology, and the CCC reaches light-off temperature earlier. Under the conditions tested, the light-off time of the baseline case was 62 seconds and that of the UEGI case was 33 seconds.

The Effect of Etching on Low-stress Mechanical Properties of Polypropylene Fabrics under Helium/Oxygen Atmospheric Pressure Plasma

  • Polypropylene nonwoven fabrics were exposed to He/$O_2$ atmospheric pressure glow discharge plasma. Surface chemical analysis and contact angle measurement revealed the surface oxidation by formation of new functional groups after plasma treatment. Weight loss (%) measurement and scanning electron microscopy analysis showed a significant plasma etching effect. It was investigated in low-stress mechanical properties of the fabrics using Kawabata Evaluation System (KES-FB). The surface morphology change by plasma treatment increased surface friction due to an enhancement of fiber-to-fiber friction, resulting in change of other low-stress mechanical properties of fabric.

  • Pulse modulation technique provide additional controling method for electron temperature and density in rf and microwave processing plasma. Transient characteristics of electron density and temperature have been measured in pulse modulated rf inductively coupled argon plasma using simple probe circuit. Electron temperature relaxation is clearly identified in the after glow stage. Controllability of average electron temperature and density depends on the modulation frequency and duty ratio. Numerical calculation of time-dependent electron density and temperature have been performed based on the global model. It has been shown that simple langmuir probe measurement method used for continuous plasma is also applicable to time-dependent measurement of pulse modulated plasma.
