A questionnaire was developed to measure clothing involvement, clothing purchasing motives, clothing purchasing criteria, fashion information sources, store selection criteria, and demographic characteristics. The questionnaire was administered to 430 female adults in Taegu. The data were analyzed using percentage, frequency, factor analysis, and t-test. The results of the study were s follows: 1. Subjects were divided into low clothing involved and high clothing involved groups. 2. Three dimensions of clothing purchasing motives were derived by factor analysis such as Aesthetic dependant, Impulsive, and Practical motive. Clothing purchasing criteria were factor analysed as Aesthetic, Qualitative, External, and Economical criterion. Fashion information sources were factor analysed as Printed & audio-visual oriented media, Marketer intensive search, Store search, Observation & Interpersonal search, and Experience. Store selection criteria were factor analyzed as Merchandise & Store atmosphere, Store convenience, and Brand & fashion. 3. There were significant differences between high involved and low involved consumers in clothing purchasing behavior. The high involved consumers showed more importance than low involved consumers about purchasing criteria expecially in aesthetic dependant. The high involved consumers put more importance to aesthetic, qualitative, and external criterion as clothing purchasing criteria. The high involved information sources. The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of aesthetic surgery attitude, self-esteem and body image on clothing behavior. Subjects were 356 female college students in Seoul. The data obtained were analyzed by reliability analysis, factor analysis, correlation analysis, stepwise multiple regression analysis and t-test. The major results of this study were as follows: First, five factors of aesthetic surgery attitude were identified: risk tolerance of aesthetic surgery, need of aesthetic surgery, image improvement via aesthetic surgery, keeping the secret of aesthetic surgery, and others' expectation of aesthetic surgery. Second, significant relationships were found between body image and clothing behavior, and self-esteem and body-enhancement of clothing. Body-enhancement of clothing was influenced by body image, image improvement via aesthetic surgery, and self-esteem.
The purpose of this study is to understand an appreciation and a perceptive structure of "keijeok" image by Semantic Differential Technique and Factor Analysis. The data used in this study was obtained by the questionnaire survey carried out in Pusan metropolitan city. 15 adjective pairs in the survey were evaluated by the Semantic Differential scales graded 7 ranges from 1(very good) to 7(very bad). A total of 452 samples were collected by the survey and analyzed for this study. The results are as follows; First, 15 variables comprehended to "keijeok" image were estimated as a positive conception(LT 4.0). What's more, residents may perceive "keijeok" image as intangible and aesthetic aspect such as "fresh", "pleasant", "clean". Second, the result of factor analysis shows that factor I which express the major conceptual meaning of "keijeok" image tends to have intangible or aesthetic adjective pairs rather than concrete, whereas factor II which has the weaker meaning compared with factor I may represent a functional aspect of "keijeok" image. It can explain that the perceptive structure of "keijeok" image may be largely influenced by subjective sense, then added or concreted with objective conception or environmental situation. Children exhibit different behaviors, skills, and motivations. The main aim of this research was to investigate children's sensibility factors for icons, and to look for the best typeface for application to Web-Based Instruction (WBI) for e-Learning. Three types of icons were used to assess children's sensibilities toward metaphors: text-image, representational, and spatial mapping. Through the factor analysis, we found that children exhibited more diverse reactions to the text-image and representational types of icons than to the spatial mapping type of icons. Children commonly showedn higher sensibilities to the aesthetic-factor than to the familiarity-factor or the brevity-factor. In addition, we propose a collaborative-typeface system, which recommends the best typeface for children regarding the readability and aesthetic factor in WBI. Based on these results, we venture some suggestions on icon design and typeface selection for e-Learning.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the aesthetic factors in color combinations of house exteriors in hillside villages, Busan. The so-called 'Hillside renaissance' is a representative urban regeneration project in Busan. The towns in hillside area in Busan have developed colorful sceneries. But all the colorful sceneries are not the same. Each town has own color characters and different aesthetic color effects. This study is to determine the unique aesthetic components in color combination of Gamcheon and Daecheong. This study is based on the traditional color harmony theories. The analysis focuses, inter alia, on Moon-Spencer's 'Aesthetic Measure'. A house exterior color has relations with two neighboring colors in array. And those three colors with next two houses have again each three hue, value and chroma relations. This analysis is first to determine whether each sample color combination is harmonized, and if harmonized, next step to list which aesthetic factor is dominantly contributing to color harmony. And at last, to study the subcategorized sectors of each color components of the hue, value and chroma.
The purpose of this study was to identify aesthetic concepts of‘Sarangbang’furniture during the Yi-dynasty period and aesthetic descriptions indicating each concept expressed by experts in traditional furniture. The furniture selected for the study includes desks, table bookcases, document and stationary boxes (mungab), letter holders (Kobi) and inkstone boxes (younsang) with lacquer and oil finish on. The respondents were 72 traditional furniture experts; researchers collectors, sellers and artists related to period furniture. The important points of aesthetic descriptors were collected 123 from related literature. From experts' answers, 47 representative descriptors were selected. Data were analyzed with the SPSS using frequency, Percentage mean, factor analysis, t-test and C2. The results were as follows; 1. The aesthetic concept of sarangbang furniture during the Yi-dynasty can be categorized into 9 aspects; appearance of beauty, stability the interior space, naturalness, nobleness/harmony of lines, detail/refinement, simplicity, diversity solidity and surface division. 2. The characteristics of the Korean traditional furniture can be described using 47 descriptors explaining 9 concepts mentioned above.
The purpose of this study is to investigate landscape image and define elements of difference in visual preference of bridges on the Han River. To do this end, video was used as a media for the evaluation of the landscape image of 16 bridges on the Han River using a Semantic Differential scale. Data is collected by 50 students from Woosuk University, majoring landscape architecture. Final analysis utilized a total of 704 samples of data. Data is analyzed through descriptive statistics, and spatial image is analyzed by factor analysis algorithm Principle component analysis using Varimax method is applied far extraction and factor rotation. T-test is used to find the difference between the bridge type of preference with the data of factor score. Logistic regression is used to select the factors that influences the visual preference among the image factors. The results of this study can be summarized as follows; The image of whole bridges on the Han River is somewhat orderly, sequential and open. The degree of visual preference of unique bridge type is higher than normal but there are some differences in visual preference within the same type of structure. This suggests that the surrounding landscape is one of the important factor for visual preference. Factors covering the image of bridge are found to be 'aesthetic', 'structure','spatial factor', and 'shape'. Total variance is obtained as 60.4%. The aesthetic variables are the most important factor for visual preference and the structural factor presents no significant difference in visual preference between more preferred and less preferred bridges. Since the collapse of Songsu Bridge, we thought the structural factor is very important but the results of this study suggest that it is more important to consider the aesthetic and spatial factors of the bridge to increase the visual preference when planning and designing bridges. Simulations with more detailed data about surroundings should be utilized practical design.
