How to utilize vegetation survey using drone image and image analysis software

  • This study tried to analyze error range and resolution of drone images using a rotary wing by comparing them with field measurement results and to analyze stands patterns in actual vegetation map preparation by comparing drone images with aerial images provided by National Geographic Information Institute of Korea. A total of 11 ground control points (GCPs) were selected in the area, and coordinates of the points were identified. In the analysis of aerial images taken by a drone, error per pixel was analyzed to be 0.284 cm. Also, digital elevation model (DEM), digital surface model (DSM), and orthomosaic image were abstracted. When drone images were comparatively analyzed with coordinates of ground control points (GCPs), root mean square error (RMSE) was analyzed as 2.36, 1.37, and 5.15 m in the direction of X, Y, and Z. Because of this error, there were some differences in locations between images edited after field measurement and images edited without field measurement. Also, drone images taken in the stream and the forest and 51 and 25 cm resolution aerial images provided by the National Geographic Information Institute of Korea were compared to identify stands patterns. To have a standard to classify polygons according to each aerial image, image analysis software (eCognition) was used. As a result, it was analyzed that drone images made more precise polygons than 51 and 25 cm resolution images provided by the National Geographic Information Institute of Korea. Therefore, if we utilize drones appropriately according to characteristics of subject, we can have advantages in vegetation change survey and general monitoring survey as it can acquire detailed information and can take images continuously.

마스크-보조 어텐션 기법을 활용한 항공 영상에서의 퓨-샷 의미론적 분할 (Few-shot Aerial Image Segmentation with Mask-Guided Attention)

  • The goal of few-shot semantic segmentation is to build a network that quickly adapts to novel classes with extreme data shortage regimes. Most existing few-shot segmentation methods leverage single or multiple prototypes from extracted support features. Although there have been promising results for natural images, these methods are not directly applicable to the aerial image domain. A key factor in few-shot segmentation on aerial images is to effectively exploit information that is robust against extreme changes in background and object scales. In this paper, we propose a Mask-Guided Attention module to extract more comprehensive support features for few-shot segmentation in aerial images. Taking advantage of the support ground-truth masks, the area correlated to the foreground object is highlighted and enables the support encoder to extract comprehensive support features with contextual information. To facilitate reproducible studies of the task of few-shot semantic segmentation in aerial images, we further present the few-shot segmentation benchmark iSAID-, which is constructed from a large-scale iSAID dataset. Extensive experimental results including comparisons with the state-of-the-art methods and ablation studies demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • In this study, in the field of remote sensing, where the scope of application is rapidly expanding to fields such as land monitoring, disaster prediction, facility safety inspection, and maintenance of cultural properties, monitoring of rural space and surrounding environment using UAV is utilized. It was carried out to verify the possibility, and the following main results were derived. First, the aerial image taken with an unmanned aerial vehicle had a much higher image size and spatial resolution than the aerial image provided by the National Geographic Information Service. It was suitable for analysis due to its high accuracy. Second, the more the number of photographed photos and the more complex the terrain features, the more the point cloud included in the aerial image taken with the UAV was extracted. As the amount of point cloud increases, accurate 3D mapping is possible, For accurate 3D mapping, it is judged that a point cloud acquisition method for difficult-to-photograph parts in the air is required. Third, 3D mapping technology using point cloud is effective for monitoring rural space and rural resources because it enables observation and comparison of parts that cannot be read from general aerial images. Fourth, the digital elevation model(DEM) produced with aerial image taken with an UAV can visually express the altitude and shape of the topography of the study site, so it can be used as data to predict the effects of topographical changes due to changes in rural space. Therefore, it is possible to utilize various results using the data included in the aerial image taken by the UAV. In this study, the superiority of images acquired by UAV was verified by comparison with existing images, and the effect of 3D mapping on rural space monitoring was visually analyzed. If various types of spatial data such as GIS analysis and topographic map production are collected and utilized using data that can be acquired by unmanned aerial vehicles, it is expected to be used as basic data for rural planning to maintain and preserve the rural environment.

천연색 항공영상의 매칭 DEM 정확도 평가 (DEM Accuracy Assessment from Matching of Color Aerial Image)

  • In case of producing image map by using the color aerial photograph, DEM makes on huge effects to the accuracy of ortho image. Thus, this paper has the purpose that evaluate the accuracy of DEM acquired by matching the color aerial photograph. At the study, result of color aerial photograph's control point surveying was X=${\pm}$0.14m, f=${\pm}$0.16m. Estimated result by DEM of plot-map and matching has RMSE=${\pm}$1.058m for the elevation(Z). For matching DEM has a minor(-)'s value, it can access that produce by high point than plot-map DEM.

  • Thispapr proposes hybrid navigation parameter estimation using sequential aerial images. The proposed navigation parameter estimation system is composed of two parts: relative position estimation and absolute position estimation. the relative position estimation recursively computes the current velocity and absolute position estimation. The relative position estimation recursively computes the current velocity and position of an aircraft by accumulating navigation parameters extracted from two succesive aerial images. Simple accumulation of parameter values decreases reliability of the extracted parameters as an aircraft goes on navigating. therefore absolute position estimation is required to compensate for position error generated in the relative position step. The absolute position estimation algorithm combining image matching and digital elevation model(DEM) matching is presented. Computer simulation with real aerial image sequences shows the efficiency of the proposed hybrial algorithm.

  • This paper proposes an image processing algorithm to stabilize shaken scenes of UAV(Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) caused by vehicle self-vibration and aerodynamic disturbance. The proposed method stabilizes images by compensating estimated shake motion which is evaluated from global motion. The global motion between two continuous images modeled by 6 parameter warping model is estimated by non-linear square method based on Gauss-Newton algorithm with excluding outlier region. The shake motion is evaluated by subtracting the global motion from aerial vehicle motion obtained by averaging global motion. Experimental results show that the proposed method stabilize shaken scenes effectively.

  • 무인항공기(UAV: Unmanned Aerial Vehicle), 헬리콥터, 항공기를 이용하여 실시간 교통자료를 수집하는 항공 기반 차량 검지시스템(ADS: Aerial-Based Vehicle Detection System)에 관한 연구가 미국, 일본, 독일에서 이루어져 왔다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 ADS의 교통자료 수집 시스템으로 활용 가능성을 검토하기 위하여 먼저 ADS에 의하여 수집된 자료가 이미지프로세싱 등 자료추출 기법을 거쳐 통행속도 등 교통정보를 산출할 수 있는 지를 확인하였다. 다음으로는 ADS에 의하여 수집된 자료의 신뢰성 정도가 교통정보 제공에 적합한 지를 확인하였다. 그 결과 ADS는 기존에 상시적으로 실시간 교통정보 제공을 하기 위하여 사용되고 있는 VDS 등을 대체하기에는 기술적 비용적 측면에서 어려움이 있을 것으로 파악되었다. 하지만 재해 발생 등 비반복적 교통상황이 장시간 발생할 경우 비상교통관리대책 등을 세우기 위한 보완적 방안으로 활용할 수 있을 것이다.

  • 무인항공기의 영상 기반 항법은 널리 사용되는 GPS/INS 통합 항법 시스템의 취약점을 보강할 수 있는 중요한 기술로 이에 대한 연구가 활발히 이루어지고 있다. 하지만 일반적인 영상 대조 기법은 실제 항공기 비행 상황들을 적절하게 고려하기 힘들다는 단점이 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 영상기반 항법을 위한 가우시안 혼합 모델 기반의 파티클 필터를 제안한다. 제안한 파티클 필터는 영상과 데이터베이스를 가우시안 혼합 모델로 가정하여 둘 간의 유사도를 이용하여 항체의 위치를 추정한다. 또한 몬테카를로 시뮬레이션을 통해 위치 추정 성능을 확인한다.

  • This paper addresses estimation of the relative shift vector from aerial image sequences. We perform similarity function tests and decide the most appropriate similarity function for the visual navigation system using aerial images. Finally, we propose the maximum variance reference line selection method for reducing the estimation error of the shift vector.

그림자영향 소거를 통한 아스팔트 도로 경계추출에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Asphalt Road Boundary Extraction Using Shadow Effect Removal)

  • 고해상도 컬러항공영상은 공간정보생성을 위한 지형의 상세한 정량적 및 정성적 정보를 제공해준다. 하지만 도심지역에서 빌딩 또는 숲에 의한 그림자의 발생으로 인하여 지물 추출 및 분류시 부정확한 결과를 초래 시킬 수 있다. 현재까지 그림자 효과에 대한 여러 연구가 이뤄졌으나 도심지에서 그림자의 발생으로 야기된 분광정보 왜곡의 문제점을 해결하여 도로추출에 대한 연구가 매우 부족한 실정이다 본 연구에서는 컬러항공사진과 LIDAR(LIght Detection and Ranging) 고도 자료를 이용하여 아스팔트 도로 경계선을 추출하는 기법을 제안하였다. 구체적으로 그림자 영향의 제거를 통한 아스팔트 도로 경계선의 추출과정은 다음과 같다. 첫 번째, 항공사진에서 그림자 영역을 LIDAR자료부터 생성된 DSM(Digital Surface Model)과 태양각으로부터 추출하였다. 그 후 도로영역추출기법, 경계선 검출기법을 통하여 도로의 경계를 추출하였으며 이 자료를 벡터화하므로서 GIS벡터의 선분 자료로 생성하였다. 본 연구의 실험결과 제안된 방법은 그림자의 영향을 소거하여 원활한 아스팔트 도로의 경계를 추출하는데 있어서 효과적임을 알 수 있었다.
