  • Due to complexity of diverse features in urban area, accurate feature extraction is laborious task in aerial and satellite imagery. Especially occlusion by buildings, and image distortion of shadow effects make processing more difficult work. In this study, algorithm was presented to correct of shadow effects in aerial color images. This algorithm enables user to accurately interpretate urban information by correction of shadow effects in aerial color images

  • In case of producing image map by using the color aerial photograph, DEM makes on huge effects to the accuracy of ortho image. Thus, this paper has the purpose that evaluate the accuracy of DEM acquired by matching the color aerial photograph. At the study, result of color aerial photograph's control point surveying was X=${\pm}$0.14m, f=${\pm}$0.16m. Estimated result by DEM of plot-map and matching has RMSE=${\pm}$1.058m for the elevation(Z). For matching DEM has a minor(-)'s value, it can access that produce by high point than plot-map DEM.

  • Periodic profiling by level is a conventional method for monitoring topographic changes in a specific part of tidal zone. Periodic aerial photographs are used for monitoring topographic change of broad tidal zone area. In this study, spot heights at interval of 50m on 5 profiling lines were leveled periodically for precise monitoring topographic change of tidal zone. For monitoring broad topographic change of tidal zone, aerial photographs were also taken by film camera loaded on pilotless helicopter periodically Periodic profiling shows the change of heights on the lines well. On the other hand, aerial photographs taken by film camera loaded on pilotless helicopter have some problems to detect topographic change of tidal zone precise. Because the scale and incline of the photographs were not same, it is hard to compare them. Therefore, for more precise monitoring of topographic changes in tidal zone, it is need to take aerial pictures with same scale and same incline.

  • Nowadays, as going to information society based knowledge, the informations are acquired, processed, serviced based digital environment. In surveying field, the trend have been changed from the analog foundation to the digital foundation. Also, aerial photogrammetry is being changed from analog aerial photogrammetry to digital aerial photogrammetry. In this paper, the analysis of accuracy is performed for the comparison of traditional aerial photogrammetry with digital aerial photogrammetry usign UltracamX in AT and Block Adjustment. As the results, Bundle adjustment in digital aerial photogrammetry with GPS/INS have more advantages than traditional independent adjustment in analog aerial photogrammetry. Digital aerial photogrammetry contributes the higher accuracy in AT and block adjustment more than analog aerial photogrammetry.

  • Segmentation of LiDAR data is an important procedure in building modeling. Therefore, in this study, aerial imagery is used to group LiDAR data for both improving segmentation accuracy and modeling detail surface patches of the roofs. The results show that the proposed method is efficient to analyze and to model various types of roof shape.

  • The quality of aerial photograph is closely connected with the change of wether conditions like as cloud cover, visibility, drifted snow and so on. To solve some problems caused by wether condition, the related organizations in advanced nations have presented some standards of wether condition for aerial photography. In domestic case, the NGI has presented some standards based on the internal specification of aerial photography and the table of monthly weather condition, but it is not enough to make the quantitative and objective standards on aerial photography specification. In this paper, we proposed a method which can reflect domestic weather condition and make accurate estimation of the average number of clear days in one year for aerial photography.

  • In this study, joint analysis was conducted on the rock slope by aerial surveying using UAV. Aerial photos were taken using UAV to measure the directionality of the rock slope exposed to the site, and the directionality of the joint was analyzed using the photographed photos. UAV photography was taken under conditions of 90% overlap and an altitude of 50m. The photographing path was measured in the horizontal, vertical, and oblique directions based on the slope, and the joint characteristics were analyzed. Aerial surveying research on the joint directionality analysis of rock slopes is still incomplete, and the method for accurate joint directionality analysis is not presented strategically, so it is difficult to apply it in design. Through the results of this study, we would like to propose an flight photographing technique for the investigation of rock joints. As a result of the study, in the case of the joint investigation of the rock slope using UAV, it was necessary to change conditions such as altitude, aerial photography route, and overlap according to the size of the joint according to the site conditions.

  • This study investigates two camera self-calibration approaches, on-site self-calibration and laboratorial self-calibration, both of which are based on self-calibration theory and implemented by using a commercial photogrammetric solution, Agisoft PhotoScan. On-site self-calibration implements camera self-calibration and aerial triangulation by using the same aerial photos. Laboratorial self-calibration implements camera self-calibration by using photos captured onto a patterned target displayed on a digital panel, then conducts aerial triangulation by using the aerial photos. Aerial photos are captured by an unmanned aerial vehicle, and target photos are captured onto a 27in LCD monitor and a 47in LCD TV in two experiments. Calibration parameters are estimated by the two approaches and errors of aerial triangulation are analyzed. Results reveal that on-site self-calibration excels laboratorial self-calibration in terms of vertical accuracy. By contrast, laboratorial self-calibration obtains better horizontal accuracy if photos are captured at a greater distance from the target by using a larger display panel.
