The present study was carried out to evaluate the postoperative results of Millard rotation-advancement repair (MR) and lip adhesion followed by Millard rotation-advancement repair (LAMR) in unilateral complete cleft lip. Twenty patients with unilateral complete cleft lip underwent MR or LAMR at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery of Chonnam University Hospital over a period of 6 years (January 1994 to December 1999) were analyzed. The surgical results following the operation were assessed on the basis of scoring, vertical lip length, and scar hypertrophy. The mean score was better in LAMR group ($74.74{\pm}1.09$, n=13) than in MR group ($66.50{\pm}1.14$, n=7) for both lip and nose segments. Scar hypertrophy developed in MR group with 28.6% and in LAMR group with 23.1%. No significant difference was noted in the ratio of lip length between LAMR and MR groups ($0.84{\pm}0.08\;and\;0.73{\pm}0.10$). These results suggest that LAMR is better than MR in repairing the unilateral complete cleft lip.

The Environmental Impact Assessment(EIA) follow-up is integral phase of the EIA system. The EIA is complemented and completed by the EIA follow-up and the experience and data accumulated during the process contributes to the advancement of the EIA system. In Korea, institutional foundation of EIA is acknowledged as having been settled. Therefore, eyes are now on the qualitative growth of the EIA system including the normalization of the EIA follow-up management. In relevant prior studies there are many suggestions to make advancement of the EIA system. Nevertheless, it is difficult to apply the real system because most suggestions need prior preparation. Given the context, we propose a practical step-by-step strategies for the vitalization and advancement of the EIA follow-up system while recommending the direction for the development in this study.

This study examines the history and current debates on the standardized testing in the United States, particularly focusing on the role that the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching (CFAT) played in the process. It discusses the particular history of the United States associated with the pragmatic and scientific culture, rise of mass secondary education, and the social efficiency movement as the backdrop of the expansion of standardized testing. The role of the CFAT in this movement is investigated as to the way it contributed to setting standards for American secondary and higher education through promoting standardized tests such as SAT and GRE, and by establishing the ETS, a highly influential testing agency. The underlying educational assumptions and practices in standardized testing are critically examined in light of a more personal or context-bound and social justice-oriented paradigm for educational evaluation.

Since, Davis(1991) has proposed the TAM(Technology Acceptance Model) through a literature review of informatization promotion, which insists that a user conveniency is judged by the degree of effectiveness caused by IT, the advancement of IT such as the Internet, e-mail, electronic data exchange, and groupware have brought into various changes in ordinary corporations and public institutions. However, with the right function, the advancement of IT has provided various benefits including additional reverse functions. Based on an integrated environment of business process, unauthorized user could access to information and a management of information becomes more difficult than before due to informatization of critical information. Furthermore, external hacking or information leakage by insider becomes easier owing to advancement in communication technology. This study has tried to develop a specified management procedure and implementation method for confidential documents.

This study aimed to examine the recent Hanbok school uniform design directions to contribute to the distribution of Hanbok school uniforms and the accumulation of Hanbok-inspired fashion design sources. We reviewed 16 academic papers published on Hanbok school uniform designs from 1998 to 2023 and summarized the design features proposed therein. We also analyzed 172 items of Hanbok school uniform designs developed under the Hanbok school uniform promotion project hosted by the Hanbok Advancement Center between 2019 and 2022. We found that the recent Hanbok school uniform design characteristics conformed to the design directions proposed in previous studies in terms of line, color, fabric, and textile pattern. Conforming design characteristics include the following. Overall, silhouettes were straight and moderately fitting to the body. Detailed straight and curved lines from Hanbok were applied. Designs showed traditional Hanbok colors, including white, black, and navy. Machine washable cotton and various blended fabrics were used. Modernized traditional patterns such as Saekdong, cloud, and Gwae were applied to textile designs. In contrast, some characteristics of recent designs deviated from the proposed design directions. Barrel silhouettes were found in casual styles of uniform items, including sweatshirts, hoodies, and jumpers. A wider range of materials, including fleece, quilted fabric, brocade, and Jinju silk, were used. Uniforms had looser silhouettes and were made with modern washable materials to meet students' preference for casual uniforms.

Two dogs (Case 1 weighing 27 kg, Case 2 weighing 42 kg) were referred with hindlimb lameness. On physical examination, there was moderate pain on stifle joint testing and mild cranial translation on cranial drawer testing in Case 1. This translation was obvious when the patient was under general anesthesia. Case 2 showed discomfort during hyperextension of the stifle joint, but no significant cranial translation under general anesthesia. Joint effusion was detected on radiography in both cases. Based on physiologic and radiographic examinations, cranial cruciate deficiency was suspected, so exploratory arthroscopy was performed. Arthroscopy revealed partial rupture of the cranial cruciate ligament (CrCL) in both cases. Case 1 showed unstable partial CrCL rupture, while Case 2 had stable CrCL rupture. Tibial tuberosity advancement (TTA) was carried out as planned. Seroma occurred one week postoperatively in Case 2, and was removed surgically. The patients returned to satisfactory weight-bearing ambulation 5 months after initial surgery. Based on the results of these cases, TTA appears to be a useful procedure in the treatment of CrCL partial rupture.

Purpose: Meningomyelocele is the most common type of neural tube defect disease. Early surgical treatment is recommended to prevent central nervous system infection. Several reconstruction methods were reported previously regarding surgical wound defect closure following meningomyelocele excision. In this article, we report two successful patients using the bilateral fasciocutaneous sliding V-Y advancement flap as a covering for meningomyelocele defects. Methods: Two patients with meningomyelocele were evaluated. Both patients were male and received their operations on the 1st and 4th day of life. After neurosurgeons completed their part of the operation, the V-Y advancement flap was used to close the defect. Initially a bilateral V-shape incision design was made on the skin such that the base of the V-flap measures identical to the size of the wound defect. An incision was made down to the fascia in order to allow the V-flaps to slide into the defect. Subfascial dissection was performed up to 1/3 to 1/4 the length of the V-flap from the wound while minimizing injury to the perforating vessels. Results: Both patients were treated successfully and there was no evidence of complication in 2 months follow up. Conclusion: Several reconstruction methods such as local flaps, skin graft and myocutaneous flaps were reported regarding meningomyelocele surgical wound defect closure. Bilateral fasciocutaneous sliding V-Y advancement flap is an easy method without involving the underlying muscles or a secondary skin graft in a short operation time. Therefore we recommend this treatment option for reconstruction of the wound defect following meningomyelocele excision.

AKARI and the subsequent Herschel Space Observatory have yielded tremendous advancement in our knowledge of the infrared-submillimeter properties of active galaxies and active galactic nuclei, AGN. This short review describes some highlights. Active galaxies are found to do what they are supposed to do: build up their stellar bodies while building up their central black holes.

It is meaningful in that it can be used as valuable data in modern nursing by exploring the meaning and essence of the experiences experienced as women and nurses in the special situation of war to understand their experiences. To find the role of nurses in the war, the research was classified into primary data and secondary data. Among the many data, only those with high external and internal evaluations were selected and analyzed. However subjective opinions were not included. At a time when women's social advancement was difficult, the nurse faithfully fulfilled the role of a nurse on the battlefield, and as a result, it became a new channel for women's social advancement. Nurses performed various roles, such as nursing for soldiers wounded in the Korean War, as well as midwifery and health education for the general public. In this way, during the Korean War, both inside and outside the battlefield, nurses performed all the roles they could in their respective positions. Nursing activities on the battlefield have taken their true value in line with the characteristics of nursing education based on holistic nursing, integrated thinking, love for humanity, and dedication. Recently, disasters and war zones are increasing worldwide, and the number of nurses required in these fields is also increasing. Based on the research results of past nurses' activities, there is a need for interest and research on the new roles of nurses needed in the present and future society. In addition, while not forgetting the sacrifices of nurses in the past, this spirit must be continued and developed.

The purpose of this study is to discuss about the current status and problems of 24 public libraries in Daejeon metropolitan city and to suggest strategies for the development of public library system in Daejeon. For this purpose, first, this study investigates facilities, human resources, collection, and budget in public libraries in Daejeon metropolitan city and compares to the standards in "The Third Comprehensive Library Advancement Plan(2019-2023)", "The library Act" and "Korean Library Standards". Secondly, this study analyzes administrative organization system. Finally, suggested are both strategies and methods for continuous construction of new public libraries, librarian recruit, collection increase, better service for older adults, budget increase, organization exclusively responsible for library policy.
