Implementation of Analysis Tool and Design of Event Recorder in Express Railway (고속열차용 Event Recorder 설계와 분석도구의 구현)

  • For safety railway vehicle movement, analysis and recoding of railway vehicle speed and driving information has written by law. nowadays, base in europe, these system is spread of various advanced country. In this paper, We implement an event recorder which record the driving and breaking information of running railway vehicle. For the event recorder, We designed the data structures with data analysis tools and a protocol between Event recorder and data analysis tool. The verification of Analysis tool was tested by to made data by Event Recorder's emulator and information of real railway driving recording.

  • Railway System has been developed by applying the advanced technology so that it reduces accident of hardware failure. But human error has been founded as important cause in railway accidents and safety. Medical condition is one of railway accident causes. Failure to recognize potentially incapacitating medical conditions can have serious safety consequences for railroad employees, the railroads and the public[1]. In order to find potential danger, we collect domestic/ foreign case for the medical examination and analyse characteristic/difference. The purpose of this study is to suggest information of employees' medical examination through comparing the current medical standard in railway industries.

  • The change of the transportation circumstance related to the deep environmental pollution, escalation of the energy price, increasing social cost of the congestion and traffic accident, improving a income level, advanced social structure etc, is rapidly proceeded. For the corresponding this transportation circumstance, the role of the railway is being increased and that is friendly with environment, efficient for the energy, observed the time schedule and the transportation device which is high speed and safe mass transportation. In addition, government's R&D investment is being increased according to deeping a strength of the international competitiveness through the technical innovation. So railway's R&D investment is being increased. Accordingly, This study suggest improving a fruit of the R&D related to railway R&D system for a efficient R&D investment.

A Study on Power Quality Improvement of Power Conversion System in Centralized-Power Type Electric Railway Vehicle (동력 집중식 철도차량의 전력변환장치 전력품질 향상연구)

  • This paper proposes an advanced filter design to improve power quality of a head electric power (HEP) as a power conversion unit in centralized-power type electric railway vehicle. First of all, we have measured waveform of output power of transformer connected HEP to design the filter. Throughout experiment and simulation results, it is estimated that switching technique used HEP is advanced selected harmonic elimination PWM (SHEPWM) and the applied switching frequency is about 300Hz. In this paper, a filter to improve power quality considering estimated parameters is designed. As a result, the reduction of the magnitude of the overall harmonic is achieved and confirmed through simulations.

Analysis of Eddy Current Loss on Permanent Magnets of Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor for Railway Transit (철도차량용 매입형 영구자석 동기전동기의 영구자석 와전류 손실 분석 연구)

  • In order to apply Interior Permanet Magnet Synchronous Motor(IPMSM) to the propulsion system of the railway transit, 110kW class IPMSMs with high-power density are designed as a concentrated winding model and a distributed winding model in this study. The concentrated winding model designed in this study is 6 poles/9 slots and the distributed winding model is 6 poles/36 slots. In general, the eddy current losses in the permanent magnets of IPMSM are caused by the slot harmonics. The thermal demagnetization of the magnet by the eddy current losses at high rotational speed often becomes one of the major problems in the IPMSM with a concentrated windings especially. A design to reduce eddy current losses in permanent magnet design is important in IPMSM for the railway vehicle propulsion system which requires high-speed operation. Therefore, a method to devide the permanent magnet is proposed to reduce the eddy current losses in permanent magnet in this study. Authors analyze the variation characteristics of the eddy current losses generated in permanent magnet of the concentrated winding model by changing the number of the division of the permanent magnets.

  • Since the opening of the Seoul Metro in 1974, the electric railway passengers have been increased rapidly and as the advanced equipments(OC,PSD) were introduced, additional power facilities were built in a limited area for the comfortable transportation environment. Present grounding system were built according to old Electric equipment standards and all the electric signal, communication and electronic equipments were built only for the purposes of protecting building structure, people and electronic equipments. Grounding system which was additionally built in the limited area caused problems with the building structure and it caused secondary damages when earth fault happens. One of the problems is grounding system of the building structure; grounding system does not work properly since grounding equipments are not separated from each other. So, existing grounding system needs to be improved and unified grounding system in the building should be established. The purposed of this study is to analyze all the grounding systems that had been built in different year and to establish unified grounding system of Seoul Metro.

  • The load of a maglev train, which is being considered a future transportation, is uniformly loaded on a levitated surface of a rail unlike a typical train because the maglev train is magnetically levitated and propelled. In addition, the driving performance is superior since the maglev train doesn't directly contact the railway. A integrated track system, to which a sleeper is installed toward a longitudinal direction instead of a perpendicular direction, is suggested, considering this loading characteristic. The longitudinal sleeper of this system is expected to contribute to stiffness increase of a bridge and weight-reduction of a girder. In this study, the structural characteristics of proposed and typical systems have been numerically compared and analyzed. In addition, the improvement of the integrated system has been proposed.

  • Light rail vehicle is optimized vehicle system for complex urban circumstance. LRT systems have many merits such as improve accuracy, speediness and safety. There are many LRT systems such as monorail, tram, automated guideway transit, linear induction motor propulsion and so on. These systems have operated in Japan and other advanced countries. In Korea, local government has many projects to apply the advanced LRT system. But there are no standardized specification, performance test specification, construction specification for monorail system, linear induction motor propulsion system, tram in Korea up to now. So, we need to establish of standardized to economical construction and safety. The linear induction motor system has been usually applied in Japan subway and ART(Advanced Rapid Transit) of Canada. In Korea, the linear induction motor system has been adopted for Yongin LRT and currently under construction. This paper covers the contents and technical base for main items of rolling stock, performance standard, carbody structure, bogie, electronic unit and brake equipment in order to implement linear induction motor LRT system according to local conditions.

  • In these days, as the scale of our technology becomes larger and more highly advanced, the magnitude of an accident tends to be large. For this reason, in some systems whose accident may cause a large-scale and long-term catastrophe, a preliminary and quantitative safety assessment has become required before its construction. A method developed for this requirement is risk assessment. In this study, we focused on the methodology of probabilistic risk assessment, which has been developed mainly in the field of nuclear power industry, and considered the process to adopt this method to railway system in order to establish a scientific and comprehensive way of safety assessment.
