Objectives : To estimate the awareness, treatment and control rate, as well as to identify the awareness-related factors for hypertension. Methods : The study participants were 482 adults (men 206, women 276), aged 45 or over, diagnosed with hypertension and living in Chuncheon. The awareness rate was defined as the proportion of persons among those with hypertension who had previously been diagnosed by a physician. The treatment rate was defined as the proportion of persons who had used anti-hypertensive medication, among those who were aware of their hypertension. The control rate was defined as the proportion of persons who kept blood pressure normal, among those who had been treated for their hypertension. Multivariable logistic regression analysis was carried out for the awareness-related factors using SAS VER 8.1. Results : The awareness, treatment, and control rate were 55,8% (53.4% for men; 57.6% for women), 89.6% (87,2% for men; 91.2% for women), and 34.4% (28.1 % for men; 38.6% for women), respectively. The awareness-related factors included a family history of hypertension (odds ratio[OR], 5.63; 95% confidence interval[95% CI]=1.53-20.72), smoking([Ex; OR 0.38, 95% CI= 0.15-0.96)], [Current; OR 0.28, 95% CI=0.10-0.80]), and alcohol intake ([Ex; OR 3.22, 95% CI 1.03-10.09],[Current; OR 3.36, 95% CI=1.30-8.71]) for men, and education(OR 2.23, 95% CI=1.10-4.53), body mass index(OR 2.72, 95% CI=1.13-6.53), and self-rated health(OR 2.38, 95% CI=1.07-5.30) for women. Conclusions : The awareness rate of hypertension among the middle aged and elderly in Chuncheon was 55.8%. The related factors of awareness were gender specific. Further studies are needed to elucidate the putative reasons for these gender differences.
Objectives: The aim of this study was to confirm the association among the health status, health behaviors, and periodontitis according to total, age and sex in cases of adult metabolic syndrome(MetS). Methods: This cross-sectional study used collected data from the 7th Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES) conducted from 2016 to 2018 with 3,394 adults with MetS aged 19-79 years. The complex samples logistic regression analysis confirmed the relevant factors for periodontitis. Results:Periodontitis was diagnosed in 43.6% of all MetS cases. Diabetes (Odds Ratio [OR]=1.554), abdominal obesity (OR=1.336), current smoking (OR=2.465), past smoking (OR=1.379), and not-using oral care products (OR=1.414) were associated with periodontitis in MetS. In the age of 19-39 years with MetS group, diabetes (OR=5.379), elevated blood pressure (OR=3.975), current smoking (OR=7.430), and not using oral care products (OR=3.356) were associated with periodontitis. In the 40-79 age group, diabetes (OR=1.398), abdominal obesity (OR=1.360), current smoking (OR=2.022), and not using oral care products (OR=1.416) were associated with periodontitis. In the male MetS group, current smoking (OR=3.119), past smoking (OR=1.625), and brushing teeth more than three times (OR=0.743) were associated with periodontitis. In the female MetS group, diabetes (OR=1.733), impaired fasting glucose (OR=1.434), abdominal obesity (OR=1.479), and not using oral care products (OR=1.992) were associated with periodontitis. Conclusions: Improvement in blood sugar control, obesity, smoking cessation, and oral health education, including how to use oral care products in all individuals with MetS may result in improved oral health. In addition, improvement in elevated blood pressure in the MetS group aged under 40 years, and brushing teeth more than three times a day in the male MetS group can reduce the risk of periodontitis. Therefore, public and oral health professionals should emphasize on the relationship between age and sex during the metabolic syndrome management program and share relevant information with patients.
The telemetry of eight adult manchurian trouts (Brachymystax lenok tsinlingensis) in the upper part of the Nakdong River, which is the southern limit of distribution of manchurian trout on the Korean peninsula, was used to examine migration patterns and evaluate characteristics of over-wintering and the spawning season between December, 2007 and May, 2008. Based on the tracking data, the tagged fish showed a limited migration between adjacent pools, moving only up to $8.6m\;day^{-1}$ during the winter season (December to February). Hydraulic conditions of over-wintering pool areas were, ca. 1m depth, slow moving surface water with areas of sand and gravel. The migration of tagged individuals was successful, moving up to $96.2m\;day^{-1}$ during the spawning season. Two tagged individuals (BL4, BL6) exhibited upstream migration, whereas others showed downstream movements. The timing of upstream migration of the two individuals was consistent with an increasing phases of water level and discharge. The fishes migrating toward the down stream moved to the wide pool areas downstream, where they spent the summer season for the growth.

In this study, the parameter extraction for evaluation of the anesthesia depth in each anesthesia stages was conducted. An object of the this experiment study has studied 5 adult patients (mean $\pm$ SD age:$42{\pm}9.13$), ASA classification I and II, undergoing surgery of obstetrics and gynecology. Anaesthesia was maintained with Enflurane. HRV signal was created by R-peak detection algorithm form ECG signal. The HRV data were preprocessing algorithm. It has tried find out the anesthesia parameter which responds the anesthesia events and shows objective anesthesia depth according to anesthesia stage including pre-anesthesia, induction, maintenance, awake and post-anesthesia. In this study, proposed algorithm to analysis the HRV(heart rate variability) signal using wavelet transform in anesthesia stage. Three sorts of wavelet functions applied to PSD. In the result, all of the results were showed similarly. But experiment results of Daubeches 10 is better. Therefore, this parameter is the best parameter in the evaluation of anesthesia stage.
BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: The aim of this study was to examine differences in nutrient intake and food consumption by the presence of metabolic syndrome in Korean adults. SUBJECTS/METHODS: Study subjects in this cross-sectional study were recruited from four outpatient clinics in and near the Seoul metropolitan area of South Korea between 2006 and 2012. A total of 668 subjects (413 men and 255 women) aged ${\geq}30y$ were included in the final data analyses. For each subject, daily nutrient intake and food consumption were calculated using three days of dietary intake data obtained from a combination of 24-hour recalls and dietary records. To evaluate food consumption, mean number of servings consumed per day and percentages of recommended number of servings for six food groups were calculated. Metabolic syndrome was defined using the National Cholesterol Education Program Adult Treatment Panel III criteria. The general linear model was performed to examine differences in nutrient intake and food consumption by sex and the presence of metabolic syndrome after adjustment for potential confounding variables. RESULTS: Nutrient intake did not differ by the presence of metabolic syndrome in both men and women. Men with metabolic syndrome had lower consumption and percentage of the recommendation for fruits compared with those without metabolic syndrome (1.6 vs. 1.1 servings/day, P-value = 0.001; 63.5 vs. 49.5%, P-value = 0.013). Women with metabolic syndrome showed lower consumption and percentage of the recommendation for dairy foods than those without metabolic syndrome (0.8 vs. 0.5 servings/day, P-value = 0.001; 78.6 vs. 48.9%, P-value = 0.001). CONCLUSIONS: Low intakes of fruits and dairy foods might be associated with the risk of having metabolic syndrome among Korean adults. Dietary advice on increasing consumption of these foods is needed to prevent and attenuate the risk of metabolic syndrome.

Results: Depression was higher of 13.2 times for students who use online transactions (goods purchase), 0.07 times for students who use 'bulletin board' activities in elementary students. Depression was higher of 1.55 times for those who use online transactions (purchasing goods), and 2.3 times for those who use adult sites for middle school students. Depression was higher of 2.1 times when using e-mail and 1.9 times when using other information retrieval for high school students. Conclusion: It is necessary to consider characteristics of internet utilizing pattern by school class in policy regulation and prevention program to reduce youth depression.
Care-stress among the dementia caregivers has been an important issue. The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of the dementia elderly's symptoms on the primary caregivers'care -stress. In addition, the moderators, the expert support and the family support, were used to examine the moderating effects between the symptoms and the care-stress. The data was obtained at 10 day-care facilities and services in Seoul, Gyeonggi and Busan province in South Korea. A total of 191 participants were analyzed. They were the spouses or the adult children of the dementia elderly who were diagnosed with dementia within five years. This study was conducted in multiple regression analysis. The main findings are as follows. First of all, the symptoms that the dementia elderly show were significantly associated with the primary caregivers' care-stress. Also, the interactive variable with the expert support was statistically significant. However, it was not significant with the family support. This means that only the expert support from doctors, nurses or social workers decreased the caregivers' care-stress. The implications of this study are 1) the necessities of the education that covers the specific symptoms of the dementia patients', 2) the extension of the supportive policies for caregivers' care-stress, 3) the necessities of more allocation of the dementia specialists in the practical settings and cooperative systems among the dementia specialists in various fields, and 4) the enhancement of the family function among families who have a dementia elderly as a family member.
