TiN코팅된 볼과 스틸디스크의 미끄럼운동 시 접촉면에 형성되는 산화막의 영향을 고려한 마찰천이선도 작성에 대한 연구 (Friction transition diagram considering the effects of oxide layer formed on contact parts of TiN coated ball and steel disk in sliding)

  • In this study, the effects of oxide layer formed on the contact parts of TiN coated ball and steel disk in sliding are investigated. Also wear mechanism to form the oxide layer and the characteristics of the oxide layer formation are investigated. AIS152100 steel ball is used for the substrate of coated ball specimens. Two types of coated ball specimens were prepared by depositing TiN coating with 1 and 4um in coating thickness. AISI1045 steel is used for the disk type counter-body. To investigate the effect of oxide layer on the contact parts of the two materials, the tests were performed both in ambient for forming oxide layer on the contact parts and in nitride environment to avoid oxidation. And to study the effects of surface roughness of counter-body, TiN coating thickness and contact load of sliding test on the characteristics of oxide layer formation on counter-body, various tests were carried out. From the results, the friction characteristics between the two materials was predominated by iron oxide layer that formed on wear track on counter-body and this layer caused the high friction. And the formation rate of the oxide layer on wear track increased as the real contact area between the two materials increased as the contact load increased, the TiN coating thickness decreased and the surface of counter-body smoothened.

홍합 Mytilus coruscus과 지중해담치 Mytilus edulis의 부착 비교 (Attachment of Hard Shelled Mussel, Mytilus coruscus and Blue Mussel, Mytilus edulis)

  • 이 연구에서는 홍합과 지중해담치 치패의 크기별 재 부착 과정을 관찰하고 재 부착시간, 부착률 및 생존율을 조사 비교하였다. 또한 주사전자현미경(SEM)을 이용한 홍합과 지중해담치 족사의 외부형태를 관찰하였다. 홍합 소형 치패(각고 $3{\sim}7mm$)의 새로운 족사 생성에 의한 재 부착은 족사 분리 7분 내에 100%의 재부착률 및 생존율을 보였으며 크기별로 재 부착 시간과 생존율에는 차이가 없었다. 중형치패(각고 25 mm)는 5시간 내에 85%의 재 부착률을 보인 이후 24시간동안 나머지 개체는 부착하지 않았으나 생존율은 24시간 동안 100%를 나타내어 소형치패가 중형치패에 비해 족사 분리 후 재 부착에 소요되는 시간이 빠르고 재 부착률도 높았다. 홍합(각고 28 mm)과 지중해 담치(각고 30 mm) 중형치패의 시간경과에 따른 재부착률 및 생존율은 5시간내에 각각 73%, 73%의 재 부착률을 보인 이후 24시간 동안 나머지 개체는 부착하지 않았고 생존율은 모두 100% 를 보였으며 지중해담치가 홍합보다 빠르게 재부착한 치패가 많았다. 주사전자현미경을 이용하여 관찰된 담치류 부착 족사의 외부 형태는 고착반, 부착줄기, 부착근으로 구분할 수 있었으며, 각고 $20{\sim}30mm$ 범위의 홍합과 지중해담치의 치패에서 부착 족사의 크기를 비교한 결과 고착반은 각각 장축 $2,392{\times}934{\mu}m$, 장축 $1,056{\times}614{\mu}m$, 부착줄기 $39{\mu}m,\;28{\mu}m$, 부착근 $58{\mu}m,\;83{\mu}m$로 나타나 홍합이 지중해담치에 비해 고착반의 면적이 넓고 부착줄기의 두께가 두터웠다. 고착반과 부착줄기를 잇는 부착근의 두께는 지중해담치가 홍합보다 다소 두텁지만 단조로운 형태인 반면, 홍합은 물결모방의 가지를 뻗어 고착반에 부착한 미세구조를 확인할 수 있어 참담치의 족사 부착력이 지중해담치 보다 강한 것으로 판단되었다.

항공기 브레이크 재료용 탄소/탄소 복합재료의 마찰 및 마모 거동 (Friction and Wear Behavior of Carbon/Carbon Composites for Aircraft Brake Material)

  • Friction and wear behavior of a carbon/carbon composite material for aircraft brake material was experimentally investigated. Friction and wear test setup was designed and built for the experiment. Friction and wear tests were conducted under various sliding conditions. Friction coefficients were measured and processed by a data acquisition system and amount of wear measured by a balance. Stainless steel disk was used as the counterface material. Temperature was also measured by inserting thermocouple 2.5 mm beneath the sliding surface of the carbon/carbon composite specimen. Wear surfaces were observed by SEM, and analyzed by EDAX. The experimental results showed that sliding speed and normal force did not have significant effects on friction coefficient and wear factor of the composite. Temperature increase just below the surface was not large enough to cause any thermal degradation or oxidation which occurred at higher temperature when tested by TGA. Wear film was generated both on the specimen and on the counterface at relatively low sliding speed but cracks, grooves, and wear debris were observed at high sliding speed. Friction coefficient remained almost constant when the sliding speed or normal load was varied. It is believed that the adhesive and abrasive components contributed mainly to the friction coefficient. Wear behavior at low sliding speed was governed by wear film formation and adhesive wear mechanism. At high speed, fiber orientation, ploughing by counterface asperities, and fiber breakage dominated wear of the carbon/carbon composite.

평직 탄소섬유의 플라즈마 처리 및 이에 따른 탄소섬유/에폭시 복합재의 마모 특성 (Effect of Plasma Modification of Woven type Carbon Fibers on the Wear Behavior of Carbon Fiber/Epoxy Composites)

  • For a present study, woven type carbon fibers were surface-modified by oxygen plasma to improve adhesive strength between carbon fibers and epoxy. The change of hydrophilic properties by the plasma modification was investigated through the contact angle measurement and the calculation of surface energy of carbon fiber due to the oxygen plasma modification. FESEM and XPS analyses were performed to study the chemical and physical changes on the surface of carbon fibers due to the oxygen plasma modification. Pin-on-disk wear tests were conducted under dry condition using unmodified and plasma-modified carbon/epoxy composites to investigate the effect of plasma modification on the wear behavior of woven type carbon/epoxy composites. The results showed that the friction coefficient and the wear rate of plasma-modified carbon/epoxy composites were lower than those of unmodified carbon/epoxy composites, respectively. XPS analysis showed that new functional group of a carbonyl type was created on the carbon fibers by the $O_2$ plasma treatment, which enhanced adhesive strength between carbon fibers and epoxy, leading to improve wear properties

Evaluation of Cumulative and Conditional Antibiotic Release from Vancomycin-Embedded Fibrin Sealant and Its Antibacterial Activity : An In Vitro Study

  • Objective : Fibrin sealants have been used for hemostasis, sealant for cerebrospinal fluid leakage, and adhesive barrier in neurosurgery. Further, as its clinical use and role of an effective drug delivery vehicle have been proposed. This study was performed to measure antibacterial activity and continuous local antibiotic release from different concentrations of vancomycin-impregnated fibrin sealant in vitro. Methods : Antibacterial activity was investigated by disk diffusion test by measuring the diameter of the growth inhibition zone of bacteria (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, ATCC29213) from vancomycin-embedded fibrin sealant disc diluted at five different concentrations (C1-C5; 8.33, 4.167, 0.83, 0.083, and 0.0083 mg/disc, respectively). Continuous and conditioned release of vancomycin concentration (for 2 weeks and for 5 days, respectively) were also measured using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method. To mimic the physiologic wound conditions with in vitro, conditioned vancomycin release in phosphate buffer solution (PBS) was measured and replaced PBS for five consecutive days, half a day or completely daily. Results : In the disk diffusion test, the mean diameters of bacterial inhibition zone were 2.54±0.07 cm, 2.61±0.12 cm, and 2.13±0.15 cm (C1, C2, and C3 respectively) but 1.67±0.06 cm and 1.23±0.15 cm in C4 and C5, respectively. Continuous elution test elicited the peak release of vancomycin from the fibrin sealant at 48 hours, with continued release until 2 weeks. However, conditioned vancomycin release decreased to half or more on day 2, however, the sustainable release was measured over the therapeutic dose (10-20 ㎍/mL) for 5 days and 4 days in assays of half and total exchange of PBS. Conclusion : This study suggests that fibrin sealant can provide an efficient vehicle for antibiotic drug release in a wide range of neurosurgical procedures and the safe and effective therapeutic dose will be at the concentration embedded of 4.167 mg/disc or more of vancomycin.

Adhesive Behaviors of the Aluminum Alloy-Based CrN and TiN Coating Films for Ocean Plant

  • In the present study, TiN and CrN films were coated by arc ion plating equipment onto aluminum alloy substrate, A2024. The film thickness was about 4.65 ${\mu}m$. TiN and CrN films were analyzed by X-ray diffraction and energy dispersive X-ray equipments. The Young's modulus and the micro-Vickers hardness of aluminum substrate were modified by the ceramic film coatings. The difference in Young's modulus between substrate and coating film would affect on the wear resistance. The critical load, Lc, was 75.8 N for TiN and 85.5 N for CrN. It indicated from the observation of optical micrographs for TiN and CrN films that lots of cracks widely propagated toward the both sides of scratch track in the early stage of MODE I. TiN film began to delaminate completely at MODE II stage. The substrate was finally glittered at MODE III stage. For CrN film, a few crack can be observed at MODE I stage. The delamination of film was not still occurred at MODE II and then was happened at MODE III. This agrees with critical load measurement which the adhesive strength was greater for CrN film than for TiN film. Consequently, it was difficult for CrN to delaminate because the adhesive strength was excellent against Al substrate. The wear process, which the film adheres and the ball transfers, could be enhanced because of the increase in loading. The wear weight of ball was less for CrN than for TiN. This means that the wear damage of ball was greater for TiN than for CrN film. It is also obvious that it was difficult to delaminate because the CrN coating film has high toughness. The coefficient of friction was less for CrN coating film than for TiN film.

  • The braking system of train must posses the large baking effort in order to stop the train safety within the limited traveling distance. but, the excessive braking effort has been deteriorated the ride comfort due to high level of deceleration and jerk, and sometimes occurred the skid. because the applied braking force exceeds the allowable adhesive force. this skid causes not only to increase the a stopping distance but also to deteriorate the safety of train and damage the rall surface by wheel flat. In the present paper, braking force for disk brake of Tilting Train eXpress(TTX) was measured though on convention line test and the traction force was estimated by using the analytic model in skid condition. also, we have discussed the relationship between the bake force and traction force in starting condition.

알루미늄 압출용 금형의 플라즈마 표면처리 (Plasma Surface Treatment of Aluminum Extrusion Die)

  • Wear characteristic of the nitrided SKD61 which is a typical mold material using for the extrusion of Al6061 alloy was investigated. The surface of SKD61 was nitrided by salt bath and plasma processes. The thickness of surface nitride layer was about $8.9{\mu}m{\sim}21.3{\mu}m$. Reciprocating friction wear test conducted using pin on disk type indicated the plasma treatment followed salt bath has a lower friction coefficient and a smaller adhesive wear with Al6061 alloy. That was identified by the $Fe_4N$ which has a better wear resistance than FeN mainly formed by plasma nitriding.

Resilon을 이용한 근관충전 시 레진계열의 근관실러와 자가-접착 레진시멘트에 따른 미세누출 (MICROLEAKAGE OF RESILON BY METHACRYLATE-BASED SEALER AND SELF-ADHESIVE RESIN CEMENT)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 Resilon을 이용한 근관충전시 methacrylate-based root canal sealer와 자기-접착 레진시멘트의 사용에 따른 치근단 미세누출을 비교해 보는 것이다. 70개 단근치를 ProFile NiTi rotary instrument와 GG drill을 이용해 근관성형 하였다. 치근을 4개의 실험군 (n = 15)과 2개의 대조군 (n = 5)으로 분류하여 측방가압법으로 충전하였다 <1군: GP + AH-26, 2군: Resilon + RealSeal primer&sealant, 3군: Resilon + Rely-X Unicem, 4군: Resilon + Biscem> 7일간 1% 메틸렌블루 용액에 침적 후 수직절단하여 치근첨부터 색소의 침투도를 측정하였다. 1 군에서 가장 적은 미세누출값이 측정되었고, 2, 3, 4군간의 통계적 유의성은 없었다. 이번 연구의 결과에 따르면, 자가-접착 레진시멘트는 Resilon을 이용한 근관충전시 sealer로 사용이 가능하리라 생각된다.
