Reliability of Cu Interconnect under Compressive Fatigue Deformation Varying Interfacial Adhesion Treatment (유연소자용 기판과의 접착 특성에 따른 구리 배선의 압축 피로 거동 및 신뢰성)

  • Electronic devices have been evolved to be mechanically flexible that can be endured repetitive deformation. This evolution emphasizes the importance of long-term reliability in metal wiring connecting electronic components, especially under bending fatigue in compressed environments. This study investigated methods to enhance adhesion between copper (Cu) and polyimide (PI) substrates, aiming to improve the reliability of copper wiring under such conditions. We applied oxygen plasma treatment and introduced a chromium (Cr) adhesion layer to the polyimide substrate. Our findings revealed that these adhesion enhancement methods significantly affect compression fatigue behavior. Notably, the chromium adhesion layer, while showing weaker fatigue characteristics at 1.5% strain, demonstrated superior performance at 2.0% strain with no delamination, outperforming other methods. These results offer valuable insights for improving the reliability of flexible electronic devices, including reducing crack occurrence and enhancing fatigue resistance in their typical usage environments.

  • In apply roof waterproof system using of synthetic high polymer sheet for rooftop measure physical performance (tension$\cdot$tearing ability, temperature relativity, heating stretch performance, junction performance, wind resistance test) by various test environment condition waterproof test of structure and performance of construction work aspect, present suitable form of construction work under these environment.   • This study has been conducted in order to propose Eco-friendly and High functional waterproofing technology available for structure by verifying application and performance of water proofing material(s) in purpose of making effective use of reclaimed rubber. As s result of 12 months evaluation, stable performance for water pressure and lateral pressure of $0.3N/mm^2$ were confirmed. Also, as the time elapsed, the amount of water absorption and adhesion performance showed only a slight difference(+0.05g, $-0.1Nmm^2$) as well, which in turn confirmed that waterproofing performance remains stable. Studies show that it is expected to expand recycling technology of natural rubber by applying reclaimed rubber on construction waterproofing field, and to hold a technical superiority by using eco-friendly material in construction waterproofing market throughout active application of these types of research.

  • In this study, a survey was conducted to investigate the environmental degradation factors of specific areas in residential apartment underground structures an'd the required performance attributes for waterproofing material. Based on the survey, it was concluded that joint displacement of concrete is the highest cause for problems, and the required performance was determined to high wet surface adhesion performance for waterproofing materials.

  • UV curable acryl resin, pressure-sensitive adhesives (PSAs), are used in many different parts in the world. In particular, PSAs has been used in the wafer manufacturing process of semiconductor industry. As wafers become much thinner, UV curable PSAs require more proper adhesion performance. In this study, acrylic PSAs containing hydroxyl groups were synthesized using monomers of 2-ethylhexyl acrylate, 2-ethylhexyl methacrylate, styrene monomer and 2-hydroxyethyl acrylate. Isocyanate modified UV curable PSAs were then prepared by the adduct reaction that facilitates the UV curing property via controlling the amount of methacryloyloxyehtyl isocyanate. The proper adhesion performance and UV curing behavior of UV curable PSAs with various hydroxyl values were studied, and experimental conditions were then optimized to raise the efficiency of wafer manufacturing process. It was found that in case of using the equivalent ratio of 1 : 1 isocyanate hardener used in the UV curable PSAs, the peel strength before the UV curing process decreased as the amount of hydroxyl groups increased in the PSAs. The peeling adhesive strength was also decreased with increasing UV dose due to high curing characteristics.

Preparation and Characterization of Removal-type Acrylic Pressure-Sensitive Adhesive (4원 아크릴계 박리형 점착제의 제조와 특성에 관한 연구)

  • In order to improve the properties of the copolymer and the terpolymer that was used as removal-type pressure sensitive adhesive(PSA), we synthesized quaterpolymer with the variation of the types of monomer, initiator, and solvent, and concentration, the monomer/solvent ratio, reaction temperature and time. and determined the properties of this adhesive: the viscosity, molecular weight, conversion, solid content and structure of polymer. The prepared polymer was crosslinked by changing the type of crosslinking agent and concentration, and then we investigated the characteristics or adhesive such as peel adhesion, shear adhesion, heat resistance, weathering resistance and peel adhesion to aging. The optimum performance of RA/2- EHA/MMA/2-HEMA as a PSA were obtained when benzoyl peroxide was used as an initiator with the reactant mixture consisted of 80% BA and 2-EHA, 15%, MMA, and 5% 2-HFMA. The optimum reaction temperature and time were $80^{\circ}C$ and 8 hours, respectively. For BA/2-EHA/MMA/AA, the optimum performance was obtained when the polymerization was performed at the monomer composition of 80% BA/2-EHA, 15% MMA, and 5% AA. BPO was used as initiator and the optimum reaction temperature and time were identical to those of BA/2-EHA/MMA/ 2-HEMA. Isocyanate and melamine were used to crosslink BA/2-EHA/MMA/2-HEMA and BA/2-EHA/MMA/AA, respectively. No effect on the type of cross-linking agent on the peel adhesion was observed with aging. The quarterpolymers crosslinked with melamine left residues on the counter surface after weathering resistance test, while the polymers crosslinked with isocyanate did not.

  • Composite materials have been applied widely in interior panels of buildings and transport vehicles. Recently good fire performance and weight reduction are key issues in the fields. In the present study we investigated effects of processing parameters on the performance of honeycomb sandwich panels, especially peel strength of the panel and fire performance. The processing parameters considered were types of matrix resin, resin contents, panel cure conditions, and surface painting process conditions. The results showed that the higher resin content provides the better peel strength. Controled cure steps are also needed to obtain good pee] strength. Paint processing parameters including base putty thickness and paint drying conditions and paint thickness are important to obtain good paint adhesion and good fire performance.

  • The study was carried out about the design and the performance study of brake system for Korean High Speed Train of maximum operating speed of 350km/h. The brake system was studied to two parts the function of brake system and the performance of brake system base on Korean-TGV. According to the simulation of brake system, the train should be provided the eddy current brake system for maximum operating speed of 350km/h. The eddy current brake system take charge of about 31% on normal condition and about 22% on emergency by condition. The performance study of brake system would be continued for definition of adhesion factor un friction factor assumed to analysis and simulation.

  • This study was carried out about the design and the performance study of propulsion system for Korean High Speed Train of maximum operating speed of 350km/h. The propulsion system was studied to two parts the formation of power transmission and the performance of traction system base on Korean-TGV. For maximum operating speed of 350km/h at Seoul-Pusan high speed line, the power of train should be have the remaining acceleration of 0.058m/s/s and the slopeability of 6%o. This performance study of propulsion system would be continued for defining of adhesion factor, friction factor and aerodynamic factor assumed to analysis and simulation.
