Purpose: Addressing current status of nursing handoff provides information as to where to change practice for improvement in patient care. The aim of this study was to develop nursing a handoff practice guideline and standardsfor Korean hospitals. Methods: A questionnaire was used to collect data in a cross-sectional survey with 207 head nurses and 697 nurses working in general hospitals. Results: The practice guideline consisted of 2 items on purpose of handoff, 5 items on policy, 3 on environment, 5 on process, 7 on content, 3 on evaluation, and 1 on the function of education, for a total 26 of items. Standard instruction was developed related to Patients, Assessment, Situation, Safety concerns, Background, Actions, and Recommendations. Conclusion: The findings of this study indicate that the guideline can be applied in real nursing practice to improve the effectiveness of handoff procedures. It can be used to guide nurses to follow the standardized content, which presents patient details clearly. The guideline provides consistency and structure for the information that is handed over.
Patient safety and medical errors have emerged as global concerns and error disclosure has been established as standards of practice in many countries. Disclosure of medical errors to patients and their families is an important part of patient-centred medical care and is essential to maintaining trust. However, physicians still hesitate to disclose errors to patients despite their belief that errors should be disclosed. Multiple barriers such as fear of medical lawsuits and punishment, fear of damaging their professional reputation, and diminished patient trust inhibit error disclosure. These barriers as well as lack of training or education programs addressing error disclosure contribute to a low estimated disclosure rate in real situations. Nowadays, the importance of patient safety education including error disclosure is emphasized and related research is increasing. In this paper, we will discuss the background of medical error disclosure and studies on education programs related to error disclosure. In this regard, we will examine the content and methods currently being taught, discuss the effects or outcomes of such education programs and obstacles or difficulties in implementing them. Finally, the direction of future error disclosure education, support systems, and education strategies will also be covered.

Precision livestock monitoring promises greater management efficiency for farmers and higher welfare standards for animals. Recent studies on video-based animal activity recognition and tracking have shown promising solutions for understanding animal behavior. To achieve that, surveillance cameras are installed diagonally above the barn in a typical cattle farm setup to monitor animals constantly. Under these circumstances, tracking individuals requires addressing challenges such as occlusion and visual appearance, which are the main reasons for track breakage and increased misidentification of animals. This paper presents a framework for multi-cattle tracking in closed barns with appearance and motion models. To overcome the above challenges, we modify the DeepSORT algorithm to achieve higher tracking accuracy by three contributions. First, we reduce the weight of appearance information. Second, we use an Ensemble Kalman Filter to predict the random motion information of cattle. Third, we propose a supplementary matching algorithm that compares the absolute cattle position in the barn to reassign lost tracks. The main idea of the matching algorithm assumes that the number of cattle is fixed in the barn, so the edge of the barn is where new trajectories are most likely to emerge. Experimental results are performed on our dataset collected on two cattle farms. Our algorithm achieves 70.37%, 77.39%, and 81.74% performance on HOTA, AssA, and IDF1, representing an improvement of 1.53%, 4.17%, and 0.96%, respectively, compared to the original method.
Purpose: Adequate public input and participation in environmental health research must be provided to ensure accurate results from studies involving human exposure to potentially hazardous substances. By addressing these ethical issues associated with environmental health research, this study can help reduce risks for individuals participating in studies and whole communities affected by their impactful findings. Research design, data and methodology: The current research should have followed the rule of qualitative textual research, searching and exploring the adequate prior resources such as books and peer-reviewed journal articles so that the current author could screen proper previous works which are acceptable for the content analysis. Results: The current research has figured out four ethical issues to improve environmental health study as follows: (1) Lack of Guidance for Collecting and Utilizing Data Ethically, (2) Insufficient Consideration Is Given to Vulnerable Populations When Conducting Studies, (3) Unclear Standards Exist for Protecting the Privacy Of Participant's Personal Information, and (4) Conducting Socially and Religiously Acceptable Research in Various Communities. Conclusions: This research concludes that future researchers should consider implementing anonymization techniques where possible so that findings are still accessible, but the risk posed by disclosing identifying information remains minimized during the analysis/publication stages.

Recent efforts to develop a common standard for nuclear power plants (NPPs) with the aim of creating (1) a digital environment for a better understanding of NPPs life-cycle management aspect and (2) engineering data interoperability by using existing standards among different unspecified project participants (e.g., owners/operators, engineers, contractors, equipment suppliers) during plants' life cycle process (EPC, O&M, and decommissioning). In order to meet this goal, there is a need for formulating a standardized high-level physical breakdown structure (PBS) for NPPs project management office (PMO). However, high-level PBS must be comprehensive enough and able to represent the different types of plants and the new trends of technologies in the industry. This has triggered the need for addressing the issues of the recent operational NPPs and future technologies' ramification for evaluating the changes in the NPPs physical components in terms of structure, system, and component (SSC) configuration. In this context, this ongoing study examines the recent conventional NPPs and technological trends in the development of future NPPs facilities. New reactor models regarding the overlap of variant issues of nuclear technology were explored. Finally, issues on PBS for project management are explored by the examination of the configuration of NPPs primary system. The primary systems' configuration of different reactor models is assessed in order to clarify the need for analyzing the new trends in nuclear technology and to formulate a common high-level PBS. Findings and implications are discussed for further studies.
Citizens' demand for public CCTVs continues to rise, along with an increase in variouscrimes and social problems in cities. In line with the needs of citizens, the Seoul Metropolitan Government began installing CCTV cameras in 2010, and the number of new installations has increased by over 10% each year. As the large surveillance system represents a substantial budget item for the city, decision-making on location selection should be guided by reasonable standards. The purpose of this study is to improve the existing related models(such as public CCTV priority location analysis manuals) to establish the methodology foranalyzing priority regions ofSeoul-type public CCTVs and propose new mid- to long-term installation goals. Additionally, using the improved methodology, we determine the CCTV priority status of 25 autonomous districts across Seoul and calculate the goals. Through its results, this study suggests improvements to existing models by addressing their limitations, such as the sustainability of input data, the conversion of existing general-purpose models to urban models, and the expansion of basic local government-level models to metropolitan government levels. The results can also be applied to other metropolitan areas and are used by the Seoul Metropolitan Government in its CCTV operation policy

This study analyzed differences between three-dimensional (3D) body scanning and manual measurements, aiming to assess whether 3D scanning can replace traditional anthropometric tools, such as tape measures and calipers. Data from 4,478 participants in the 8th Size Korea Project were analyzed, covering 43 measurement items. Since Given that the 3D and manual measurements were performed on the same subjects in the 8th Size Korea Project, it was possible to determine the correlation more accurately between the two measurement methods more accurately. Using Applying ISO 20685-1(2018) standards, 15 out of the 43 items fell within allowable error limits. When classified into six types, "small circumferences" and "segment lengths" showed averages of 3.35 mm and 3.10 mm, respectively, within acceptable range. "Body heights" and "body depths" slightly exceeded the limit, with averages of 5.28 mm and 6.58 mm. "Body widths" and "large circumferences" surpassed the limit, with means of 16.77 mm and 16.18 mm. The study offers an objective basis to for validate validating 3D measurements' measurements' reliability and accuracy, addressing various industries' needs for information on the human body's dimensions information.
As education is one of key factors to improve national competitiveness, quality education becomes a top priority in all countries around the world. In South Korea, The Basic Skills Competency Test is administered annually to select below-basic third graders and provide intervention programs. The Basic Skills Competency Test was designed to diagnose the minimal competency of third graders according to a national-level standards. The purpose of this study was to analyze standard-setting procedures and set cut-off scores. This study offered the empirical evidence that standard-setting is generally applicable in schools by the modified Ebel method. More future researches addressing appropriate and efficient standard-setting methods in real school situations are needed to be taken in.

The software components of embedded control systems get extremely complex as they are designed into distributed systems get extremely complex as they are designed into distributed systems consisting of a large number of inexpensive microcontrollers interconnected by low-bandwidth real-time networks such as the controller area network (CAN). While recently emerging middleware technologies such as CORBA and DCOM address the complexity of distributed programming, they cannot be directly applied to distributed control system design due to their excessive resource demand and inadequate communication models. In this paper, we propose a CORBA-based middleware design for CAN-based distributed embedded control systems. Our design goal is to minimize its resource need and make it support group communication without losing the IDL (interface definition language) level compliance to the OMG standards. To achieve this, we develop a transport protocol on the CAN and a group communication scheme based on the well-known publisher/subscriber model. The protocol effectively realizes subject-based addressing and supports anonymous publisher/subscriber communication. We also customize the method invocation and message passing protocol, referred to as the general inter-ORB protocol (GIOP), of CORBA so that CORBA method invocations are efficiently serviced on a low-bandwidth network such as the CAN. This customization includes packed data encoding and variable-length integer encoding for compact representation of IDL data types. We have implemented our CORBA-based middleware on the mArx real-time operating system we have developed at Seoul National University. Our experiments clearly demonstrate that it is feasible to use CORBA in developing distributed embedded control systems possessing severe resource limitations. Our design clearly demonstrates that it is feasible to use a CORBA-based middleware in developing distributed embedded systems on real-time networks possessing severe resource limitations.

Mobile operators will face many challenges both economically and technically, as WLAN evolve through a bewildering number of different standards during the coming years. Potentially this will require several upgrades to the mobile infrastructure. A new approach for addressing these challenges is evaluated in this paper. It is based on a radio over fiber (RoF) technology that uses electro-absorption modulator (EAM) and optical single sideband (OSSB) modulation technique and it promises to provide solutions that will be transparent to changes in protocols and frequency of operation as well as reducing radio access infrastructure costs. This paper describes the development of prototype RoF system based on the 60GHz band CATV transport distribution system with EAM and the possibility of radio over fiber technology for use in the broadband convergence network (BcN) wireless access infrastructure.
